Pilot Specializations

From Remnants of the Earth
Jump to: navigation, search

While not all Pilots have a ‘specialization’ many choose to pursue a variety of career routes, especially in times of peace. These routes may have been their decision, recommended by mentors / instructors, determined by the Dragon that chose them, or completely mandatory given the Pilot’s circumstances / abilities.

Many Stage 5 Candidates try to intern for Pilots that share the specialization they are aiming for in order to be better noticed by Dragons and Pilots alike. If a Pilot does not pursue a specialization they are considered General Operations, which is mainly a subset of Combat Operations.

Candidate Affairs

Candidate Affairs consists of Pilots who specialize in instructing candidates in specific subjects and mentoring them. Mentors can belong to departments other than Candidate Affairs, however Instructors cannot.

Seekers

This department also controls the prisons system in Aedolis in conjunction with the Legislative subsection of the Ministry.

They are the only Pilots who can demand entrance into another Pilot's mind, and doing so requires completion of official procedures and documentation to maintain accountability. Have a rivalry with the Seekers, as Gospels fall under the Department of Inquiry's jurisdiction.

Department of Science and Medicine (DoSaM)

One of the few departments that consists of a mix of both Pilots and high clearance regular Military. Depending on the subsection of the Department a Pilot is part of they may actually end up answering directly to a member of the regular military in their daily operations.

  • Director
    • Gerard Jensik

Medical

Medical is comprised mainly of doctors and healthcare personnel, though some pharmacists can fall under this subsection as well. All military doctors and nurses must be able to act as Medcorps in times of war.

The Aerospace Exploration Diplomatic Agency (AEDA)

Aedolis’ space and inter-galactic ‘diplomacy’ program. Based out of Adstreia and consisting mainly of Pilots, though on rare occasion high level clearance has been granted to military engineers, allowing them to join AEDA’s ranks. The ‘Diplomatic’ part was added after the peace treaties were signed though given Aedolis’ nature no one seems to take that part of the acronym seriously. Aerospace Technicians are trained to perform numerous tasks aboard a spacecraft of space station. Diplomats can be tapped from other specializations as need arises though some do work full time within AEDA, often working closely with the Ministry as well.

The Ministry

Pilots that handle the legislative and administrative needs of the nation. As such it is one of the few departments with subsections lead by 'secretaries'. These subsections often have regular Military working in them. Most non-combat Pilots work as ministers. Retired Pilots are often Ministers.

    • Cameron Matthers
  • General Ministers
    • Rhys Argel
    • Alexiel Appati

Subsections of the Ministry

Public Relations

Responsible for the public image of Pilots as well as finding and developing new talent in the various entertainment fields. They are also the ones who ask specific Pilots to do appearances at events. Pilots who make public appearances are called Ambassadors despite the appearances largely taking place within Aedolis. Ambassadors are used in many different situations and like mentors this is not their sole role. It is also more of a privilege to be an Ambassador, though in some cases it has been mandatory.

Agriculture

Legislature

Responsible for both creating and upholding the laws of Aedolis. Judges are made up solely of Pilot Royals and occasionally Pilot Nobles (usually from the Ministry, especially the Legislature) and are called to duty when necessary and the position is not permanent. Over a trial of any true severity (especially one involving Pilots) The Pilot Imperial resides. The Ministry Director is the only one who may fill in for the Imperial should the circumstances require it. Lawyers must be at least a Pilot Echo. There are no regular military in this subsection of the Ministry.

Combat Specialists

While Pilots without a specific specialization are often classified generally as General Operatives or Combat Operatives (COs or ‘Ops’), there are plenty of COs who have been recruited by elite squadrons as well. These squadrons are considered the best of the best, some even specializing in certain tactics and operations. However this doesn’t mean that there aren’t exceptionally skilled COs in General OPs. In times of ‘peace’ here is no ‘director’ for Combat Specialists. They either answer to their squadron commander or in the case of general ops they are tapped on by different departments for specific missions and follow the chain of command. The Pilot Imperial is technically the ‘director’ of all Combat Operatives.

Squadrons

COs are always ready for a mission or even war. When they are not called upon they all keep up a steady fitness and training regimens. Squadrons, however, run drills together and put an even stronger emphasis on teamwork. They also compete in the Aedolian Games, (a sort of Pilot Squadron Olympics) and have rivals and fans like any sports team would. There is at least one squadron per city, but there can be many more for bigger ones.
