Kalaal would probably get offended if he were sold for half a buck.  I'm sure he wouldn't have a problem being sold into some nice plottage though.  The original plan was for him to go out to the Cancer or Libra, but I'm willing to chuck him anywhere.  Kal *gasp* even has a fairly complete profile.

Act now and get a scientist NJC tag-a-long.  The NJC can be ditched or come along for the ride.  He's finished with his initial duty (getting Kal off the 'island') and might come back as an antagonist if he's shrugged off.

I'm not sure if you'd be willing to throw him into the wastelands, but I've got an open thread there that needs some peoples.  Or if you've got any other characters needing a thread, they could join in.

Dragon is pretty laid back, but he'd probably get on well with Kal.
