Arc's Experiments (Open)
« on: December 04, 2008, 08:43:27 pm »
::Beep Beep::

In the dark room, an alarm goes off, the tinny sound echoing in the resting room.

The clock is perched on a small wooden table next to a plush looking grey couch. Out of the gloom a hand snakes out and slaps the offending article right off the table, silenceing it.

"Lights ON!" she snaps. The voice recog she had fitted responded, turning on the bright lights of the lab lounge. Several bones crack back into place as she sits up, stretching.

Getting up she grabs her beret from its place on the table and pops it on her head. Her trench coat, made of a shiny thick material, flaps around her legs. She wears an odd outfit for a scienitist, a swimsuit, with a pair of short shorts on over it. Connected to the shorts are thigh-high boots, all made of the same shiny materiel.

She seems overly sure of herself, a cold smirk lingering on her face as she strides out of the lounge towards her lab room.

"Ah, Ms. Ginovaef.." someone intterupts her musings on her latest virus. She turns to scowl at a young intern, who like a typical guy, stares at her chest.

"W-we have a new test subject for you ma'am.." he stammers, holding out a clipboard. She takes it, and whaps it on his head before reading it "quit gawping boy, theyre not THAT fascinating."

She glances over the page and grins like a feral cat. The intern shuffles back, her attitude is creeping him out. She laughs loudly, clapping him on the shoulder "nice going newbie, i look forward to messing with this one.."

And with that she's gone, striding into her lab, tossing clipboard and coat onto a chair, and seating herself at a masive computer terminal. Booting up the miscroscope connected to it she goes over the newest viral strain...

"Excellent...now to just wait for the subject..such a pity the last one died so soon" she pouts sulkily "he was so promising too.."

Riley could not longer remember how he'd gotten here. Each day had faded into the next, mixing into a grey and unpleasant haze that he couldn't pluck any particular memory from. Even his eternal tormentors were soon forgotten when they left, any particulars of their features, their scents hidden beneath the reek of antiseptic chemicals. Their minds, all minds, had been closed to him. He could still hate them. He didn't need to remember much besides all the constant poking and prodding, the scars left in his flesh, and only the vaguest concept that somewhere in here, someone had been responsible for it. Not to mention that he was always a little underfed, hungry, angry, and pacing his room.

Sedating him had gotten to be a tricky business, one that hardly anybody bothered with anymore. The subject was willful, strong, and inclined to violence. Perhaps someone had almost hoped Dr. Ginovaef would get hurt..

He was unconscious for under two minutes, barely enough time to get him bound, practically hog-tied to the steel gurney, clawed fingertips pulled behind his back in an incredibly uncomfortable position. No-one seemed foolish enough to put their hands near his face or mouth, not after he'd nearly taken apart some poor idiot's hand with bear-trap jaws and shark's teeth.

Perhaps not her best subject, as someone had already been at this one, had left him less.. or more than human, but at least this one would prove a little harder to destroy.

She's drawn from her focus on the microscope by a knock on the door.

She looks over, and sees a lab guy standing there.

"What is it?" she asks curtly, her voice has a thick, russian accent to it. The lab assist motions down the hall "Your new sub ject is waiting in the maximum security lab room."

She raises an eyebrow "Maximum security? What kind of subject is this youre letting me play with?" she grins widely, packing a few needles and tubes into a metallic case, then locking it and striding towards the door "show me." she commands.

When shes led into the room where the subject is being held, she gets a look at him.

"He's all your Dr, im outta here.." with that the lab guy tears off.

She shakes her head, muttering "wuss, how bad can this one be.."

She stands as close to the subject as she thinks safe, "surely he cant be as bad as the one who nearly ruptured my spleen when he got pissy...THAT took ages to heal.." Cold blue eyes gaze down at the subject bound tightly to the table. She wanders over to the nearest lab table, and opens the case. In it are stored a row of virus tubes, and a specialised set of injectors.

"Hm..the M-type maybe?" she murmers, immideitly absorbed in her faveourite work..

Bad enough to warrant a couple armored guards by the door. Still, no risks, no gains, or so it was said. The bound figure regarded her with the same cool expression that she gave him, pale violet eyes almost hidden beneath a mess of reddish hair. She was wondering what sort of lab rat he'd make. He was wondering what she'd look like with her face torn off. When Arc had leaned close, he'd merely breathed, slowly. It was possibly impossible for a normal person to tell, but he was getting her scent. Just another scientist. People in long coats were trouble.

Riley had offered no opinion to anything she said. In fact, he'd been utterly silent. No growling, spitting, or anything unpleasant. The moment she had turned her back to him, he'd relaxed his head against the table, the claw-like tips of his fingers trying to search his own wrists and find some loose place to take advantage of. Not that he'd get too far if he'd got out, really, but he wasn't exactly thinking that far ahead. Stopping her from making him forget anything else.. well, that was the only thing he could really figure out to do.

As soon as she might turn back, he'd simply go limp again, forcing himself to relax, though his gaze had remained watchful, predatory. He could wait. He could be patient. It wasn't as though spending all that time in a cell had taught him to do anything else.

She keeps a watch on him out of the corner of her eye as she starts preparing a needle with one of the viral strains shes made. Some affect muscle mass, others increase mental capacity...others eat away at the body from the inside out..The one shes preparing is a basic numbing agent, designed to cause temporray total paralysis. To make it easier to inject the next strain..

The needle prepared, she opens a hidden compartment in the metal case, and withdraws a 9mm gun. She always carried one just in case, and this one had an almost..sentimental value, it had once belonged to someone she'd known well..

She checks the mag in it, and loads it, the loud ::cha-chik:: sound seeming to echo in the silent room. Some beleive it silly that she uses such an old weapon, but shes fond of it..

Tucking the gun into her belt she grabs the needle and walks over to the table where her subject lies "time to start..." she says softly, looking for a vein to inject into...

((Hope you don't mind me jumping in! If you do, welll... xD tell me and I'll have Mae throw a hissy fit and leave. Also; If the thread is really taking place in the Main section of TRIM, ignore my moving it to Omega and... well... Alessa, you should probably be prepaired for Arc to be fired ._. The scientists live in the Main section, and the subjects are kept in wing Omega and Alpha. Omega for the psychics, Alpha for the mages. <3 ))

It was a day off for Mae.

On her days off, Mae ventuered out of her little section of Wing Alpha, where she vivisected and poked and proded Mages to see just what gave them their little magic tick. Today Mae was curious as to what a certain Dr. Ginovaef was up to, while she hated being in the Omega wing Mae’s curiousity was enough to make her venture to it. Eugh, she hated being here. It felt like a thick heavy wet cloth was getting pressed over every sensitive part of her brain. She could feel it, damped and cut off all of her senses.

Of course she was still a lethal weapon on her own. Mae had always assumed failed doctors became subjects as well, and she always knew that, while she was a very talented psychic, her vampire tendancies, her strength, her marble like skin, her sight, her hearing. Far too much for a simple patient. Made her almost afraid. Mae was positive that if she went feral or started letting subjects out they’d just shoot her into the sun.

Foot steps were silent as she walked towards the room the pair were in. Moving quietly and quickly, normally she showed off her abilities and floated, but, wing Omega made her unable to do that much to her displeasure. Quietly she stepped into the room and stood off to the side beside the door, her slippered feet out in front of her, together, her hands behind her back.

Mae looked nothing like a scientist.

At five feet tall, not only was Mae very short for her supposed age, but she would likely look like a few of the less fortunate subjects in wing Omega. Failed candidates from Aedolis, most of them were teenagers. Those were the screamers. Mae smiled towards the doctor of the room, eyeing the rather useless looking gun and the needle before brightening her grin, making her sharped canines very obvious. “ Hello, Dr. Ginovaef.” Her voice was soft, airy, it would be a soothing sound if it wasn’t at such a high pitch.

Her pastel pink, green and yellow dress was the few things of colour in the room besides the subjects hair - which Mae found interesting. She’s always liked the colour red. “You might not have heard of me, though that seems unlikely, I am one of the oldest doctors here.” Mae gave a chuckle and then put a hand over her lips, her black hair contrasting greatly with the bright pink ribbon and her white-blue eyes. “I’m just checking up, Tetra does many of the same things you do, viruses and what not, make sure not to hurt yourself!”

Mae eyed the subject. “Him, too. He looks... Grumpy. Is he new? What are you doing to him? Are you taking notes? Are you new? You can talk while you work, right? I always find it boring when there’s just the subject and myself. Then again... I’m usually poking their brain or seeing how something works while it’s still attached.”

[[ Cool with me. The more, the merrier. :3 Sorry for any noobsauce mistakes we're making with threading and whatnot.. ]]

No room to really move. The doctor had pulled out the old handgun, which was almost laughable. Considering the forces at work in these rooms, it would probably not be enough. The needle, of course, alarmed him far more. She'd approached the table, and he was no longer quiet. He was a snarling ball of rage, pulling his bonds hard enough to cut into his own wrists, trying to break free with simple, brute force. In time, he might actually succeed! There was no telling what she intended to do to him. Riley didn't want to find out the hard way.

The door opened, and one could tell that he was simply not happy. More people meant less chance for mistakes to be made. Two sets of eyes watching him. This was possibly not good, unless the new scientist would be a distraction. He could hope. He had wriggled around on the table to glare at her, lips still skinned back to show the jagged contents of his mouth. A low, rumbling sound escaped his chest with each breath. No. He was not in a pleasant mood.

"Don't you ever.. shut up..?" Alright, so he wasn't mute. The voice was raspy, hoarse. Here he was, trussed up like a pig in a slaughterhouse, with holes in his brain and scars all over him, and this girl wanted to bloody gossip!

[[Whee, more the merrier!]]

She merely raises an eyebrow as he suddenly kicks up a fuss. "So, you were playing dead huh? Thats a cute trick, but ive seen it before.."

She can tell its too dangerous to try manual injection. She shes turns back to the table where the case lies. The girl's voice startles her when she speaks, she hadn't been expecting visitors. For the most part, people stayed away from her experiments. Probably from fear she'd try one on them.

She takes in the girls appearence, knowing a little about her "ah, Greetings, i was just about to start on our little subject here...he is violent...angry i suppose.." she smiles coldly "but arent they all? It wouldnt be fun if they did not fight back?" she sighs almost sadly "Its usually just me and the patient, people dont like the bit where they scream..so i often work alone..it gets dull."

Opening an other compartment in the case she pulls out a dart gun, she loads the virus needle into it, and takes careful aim at the patient.

"I have been here only a while, before i worked in many other places, always taking my viruses with me..they are my lifes work, i create strains that can dissolve the muscles, the brain..yet leave the skin untouched..an almost flawless death in appearence..althoug h there have been..mistakes. Different people react differently...somet imes the subjects whole body will turn to little more then slush...fascinating for my research...but a pain to mop up.." Her face remains emotionless while she speaks, clearly guts and gore dont bother her, if anything she seems pleased by the thought.

On the table next to the case is a a pile of papers, with Arc's neat handwriting on them. But neat as it is, few can read it, as she has taken to writing her initial notes in her native language..with the odd word in english here and there. When her experiments end, she publishes the finished results paper.

"Best not give him time to get funny ideas, da?" She raises an eyebrow as the subject swears and struggles "so he is not a silent man...good, no screaming is dull.." she aims the gun and squeezes the trigger, aiming for his neck, or thereabouts.

Ancient eyes drifted past the scientist to the subject and Mae smiled and stuck out her tongue. “No, I never shut up. Though you should watch your tongue, little lab rat.” She put a hand on her hip and rose an eyebrow at the pair before leering again, “Watch that snappy tongue of yours before I bite it off.” She smiled widely, showing off her sharp white teeth, “ And trust me, I can do that easily.”Appauled, Mae turned towards Dr. Ginovaef and stared.

“I’m glad this one isn’t mine.” Mae said quietly before turning and listening to the woman speak, “Ah, so you’re designing biological warfare... Interesting. I’m going to sit and watch you.” A smile and she carefully sat on the ground beside the door, her knees to her chest and her hands loosely held in front of her. Watching, waiting.

While her psychic powers were cut off to her, she could still move faster, still be stronger. Easy. “You realise that while you do research, causing harm for the joy of causing harm is unacceptable, yes?” her eyes flashed towards the subject again, leering, her white-blue eyes focusing on his mouth. Subjects were expensive, making them waste away was like not watering a plant.

If he'd been an animal, the hackles would have been up. Riley practically bristled at Mae's presence. Her scent was off, just one more creature that was no longer human. He offered no more speech; he wasn't one to offer much in the form of words. Lips skinned back to show the predatory curve of teeth in reflex, his entire face almost a lupine grimace. Possibly something she'd seen before. It wasn't as though making scary faces was going to get him out of this mess.

Their back and forth blather about the experiments no longer concerned him. It was rapidly becoming a wordless drone, background noise that he didn't understand. It had taken some concentration to even focus as much as he had.. and he didn't care to listen to any more of them. Sadists. Though he understood. If the tables were turned, of course he'd rejoice in their pain. The idea of slowly skinning one of these women alive was an appealing fantasy..

The dart had hit him in the throat, making him jump. It turned his veins cold, an unpleasant tingling sensation soon following, like having a limp fall asleep. He had sagged against the table, unable to move, but baleful violet eyes raked holes into Ginovaef.

If only looks could kill. Still, she'd best be quick. Riley had developed a high tolerance for medication during his time here..

She reaches into the case, pulling out a virus tube with a clear red liquid in it. "My research inevitably causes suffering, otherwise it would not be much of a virus would it? Bio-Organic Warfare is all ABOUT suffering, the many ways it can be created.."

She preps the needle, holding it up to the light "This ones my latest, it closes off most of the brains functions, leaving only the necessery processes available. Essentially, the subject will be taught to obey simple commands, without the rebellious side-effects of training a slave.."

She looks down at the numbed subject, and starts the injection process "Of course, it is not at its best form yet, it is still a little unstable, it starts to break down after time, which is why i must find out what is blocking it..and fix it."

She finishes the injection, a gleam in her eyes as she eagerly awaits the response this particular subject will have..

[[ Eh. Waited a while. Sorry if I skipped Mai's turn.. ]]

Suffering. Well, the ethical way to go about it was to cause a painless death. Not that these creatures understood the concept. Honestly, neither did he. Any sense of right or wrong had been buried under a wave of bloodlust; causing a few painful deaths was also on his agenda.

He just couldn't bloody well move to do so.

Riley managed to twitch, once, a shudder of skin near the injection site, but nothing else would listen to his screaming brain. The paralysis was probably on it's way to wearing off. This chemical, though, was just getting started. Suddenly he couldn't focus, couldn't quite even remember his anger, the one emotion he had been quite good at holding onto. A thick fog permeated his brain, drowning all thought.

The fire went out in his eyes.

He really could have been mistaken for lifeless at that point. Both medications together probably would have sent a normal human off to sleep forever, or produced something like a coma. Riley, however, was resilient. It it broke down early on other subjects, again, this would not last long.

[[Sorry for the Wait, first my internet broke down, then my HD went screwy and the entire laptop had to be completely reformatted, which, including the backup process and the wipe/re-installation of all major programs...took AGES. x__x ugh, laptop is working now, so ill be able to post again!]]

Seeing her injection is successful, she takes a few notes, and smiles, taking the gun from her pocket and lying it in front of the drugged patient. She takes a few minuites to dismantle the gun, so he can see the process of taking it apart. She then re-fixes it and puts it within his reach;

"Your orders, are to dismantle this...but never to fire it..despite it being fully loaded.."

--The drug enhances the memory, to make remembering orders much easier...Lets see how he does, this test has been successful so far, the majority of subjects were able to pull it apart in the right order-- she feels a smile grace her features, shes excietd to finally test her new drug on such a fierce patient. --It isnt fun if they dont fight back..-- she thinks. She taps the pen against the page, muttering to herself in her native tounge, which will sound garbled to the patient.
