The Citadel / We Need To Talk... [Moonie!]
« on: August 07, 2017, 03:20:42 pm »
Elevator music... quite literally the most agonizing thing in the universe. Havanah tapped her fingers on her arms as she watched the lights illuminate what floor she was currently passing. The moment the light flicked past her own floor her eyes closed, a little reminder of where she was actually going.

It had been a long last few days. First with the constant pull at her stomach knowing she couldn't get Alec out of her head, then the issue with Kazoo, followed by the events that transpired when she tried to run. All of that wrapped up quite nicely with the inpending threat of Cinna's well-being surfacing last night. Havanah had been a busy little bee dealing with all of it and it showed.

Maybe her excuse for leaving Soba and the others because of a stomach ache wasn't completely a lie. Her stomach did hurt, as did her chest, hand and ass. None of it mattered though since she spent the night searching Sector C for any kind of clues. And now, well now all she wanted was to sleep before going back out. A few hours rest to rejuvinate her mind and body before searching again. Yet despite all of that exhaustion and pain she couldn't think of anywhere more comforting to be than with Alec.

"Ugh!" she groaned, stepping back in the elevator to hit her head on the wall in frustration. One bruised and one tired hand rubbed at her eyes as she tried to sort all of this out. Why was Alec the most comforting thing she could think of? Why not just go home and sleep in her own bed?

"Because he's not there." She found herself answering her own internal struggles.

Again she groaned and rolled her eyes, almost missing the 'ding' insinuating she had reached her destination. A few short steps and she saw him, standing in the doorway as he said he would be. Most would say he looked angry with his arms crossed and that look in his eyes. Havanah though saw instead how his hair was a mess meaning he hadn't rested well either. He was still in his pajama pants, a 5 o'clock shadow already growing on his face. Alec looked just as miserable as she did.

Havanah herself was in her grey jeans and black boots. She had changed before going out searching last night. Thankfully she still had Alec's sweater with her when the temperature dropped, or else she would have probably looked even worse. But even with his sweater loosely hanging on her Havanah looked a little worse for wear. Her hand was still bruised, not to mention it hurt like a bitch. With each step towards him there was  slight limp, the residual pain from those stupid needles still in there in her ass.

As she closed the distance she could feel her chest growing tighter, as if her body knew something she did not. It was just Alec after all... wasn't it? It wasn't until she was almost to his doorway did it hit her what she had actually done to him. Havanah assumed he was ingoring her over the last few days so she made it very well known she was out doing god knows what without him. Then, she went and slept with Kazoo... something that still made her stomach turn. It's not like he wasn't great or anything... but again... it wasn't Alec.

She had been so stupid, so reckless, so heartless. As soon as he was within distance Havanah lunged forwards, wrapping her arms around his neck and burying her face in his chest. "I'm so sorry!" Her muffled sob almost inaudible. In this moment she didn't care if he was mad at her. Alec could have pushed her away and she wouldn't care because at least she was here with him.

"I'm so so sorry Alec."

It was obvious the way Alec lit up when he was presented with food. He really wasn't kidding, the noise he made when taking his first bite all but confirmed it. Havanah took another bite of her own before giggling, amused with not only Alec's list of hobbies but by the way, he found such joy in something so small.

"I'm flattered." Havanah lifted a hand to her chest and dramatically patted at his compliment in an attempt to be funny. "Little old me being called beautiful and intelligent by the one and only Alec Holding." She brought up her other hand to cover the other, both now grasping where her heart was. "I can die a happy woman now." She even threw in an over dramatic sigh as she pretended to be a crazed fangirl.

The joke couldn't be held for long though before she dropped her hands laughing. "I'm just kidding..." she laughed, reaching to grab her water again. "So you like to cook and draw? I've never really had a hobby I could commit to like that. I've been thinking of getting a pet or something lately but then again with my luck I would probably kill it."

"I had a cactus once.... always just assumed you didn't have to water them... ever."

Leaning back in the chair Havanah laughed along with Alec's joke. Her eyes skimmed him up and down again when he mentioned finding a good time all on his own. "I bet you do...".

"Sometimes I think they just write about what they wish they saw." She shrugged, "Just wait, tomorrow there will be something about a secret rendezvous between us or something when in reality we just happen to go to the same gym."

"So tell me, what else do you do other than work and run like a madman on the treadmill?" It was then that they were brought their food, Havanah's extra cheesy omelet nothing in comparison to the horde of plates now sitting in front of Alec. "I mean since you really don't visit whore houses in your spare time." Havanah then smiled, having already cut into her food and plopped a bit in her mouth.

Havanah nearly choked on the water she had just brought to her lips when Alec mentioned Aspen being homesick. "If you only knew...." If only he could have seen what he pulled her from he would understand. Havanah would never get those images out of her head. She would never forget how she went to take Aspen out for their annual Pizza dinner on her birthday and what she saw. It had gotten so bad, she was surprised Aspen talked at all.

Ever since her fathers fall into the heavier drugs along with Aspen's mother everything had fallen apart. The way that apartment looked... the random ramblings of things her father and the hallucinations he saw, all of it was a nightmare. Then there was Aspen, hiding in her room between the bed and wall with headphones and hands over ears. She didn't blame her for trying to stop their voices, she would have done the same thing. That was the last day Aspen was in that home, and the first day she was screened for psionics.

"Don't we all?" her statement in reference to the poker face Alec said he held.

"Enough about work, how is life? I read about you sometimes in the gossip columns, seems you have quite the following." Anytime Havanah was on news feed was probably for her crazy acts. This of course with everything she had done was with purpose. "I know better than anyone that you can't believe everything you read though. I mean... I highly doubt you were visiting a harem two weeks ago like the columns said... right?"

Havanah's own latest stunt was in last weeks edition. She had been caught on video trying to serenade the barista at Manolins with her less than perfect vocal skills... the whipped cream may or may not have been used not to company standards. The reasoning behind the act to show Aspen that no matter how bad you may be, sometimes you just gotta show the world how good you are (even if you're not). The stunt before that, to show Aspen that going out and partying like an animal is a good way to blow off steam. Every stunt, every action... all of it was to show Aspen how good life could be. Havanah did all these things for her, despite the reputation of attention crazed Pilot now slapped on her back.

"I mean because the infamous Alec Holding would never be caught dead there on purpose I assume?"

"I bet your brothers hate that you are a pilot and not them." Havanah could only speak from the part of her that imagined Aspen ever getting farther than her among Pilots. Not saying she wasn't capable if she could get past her anxiety issue but it would still be hard to swallow if she did.

"I didn't really talk about Aspen much as a Candidate, it wasn't until I graduated that her and I even had some form of a relationship." Havanah shifted in her chair again, picking up a napkin and fiddling it within her fingers while her lips fell into a line. "I'm the one that reported her for having Psionics, I got her drafted into the ATC." And Havanah would never regret that choice. Being a pilot was great, despite the constant dangers and attention they were all under. Maybe it wasn't the best place for someone with Aspen's personality, but she was better off at the ATC than where she was.

She would have gone on telling Alec how that made her feel or more in depth of her relationship with Aspen but that would make her no different than the people that funneled in and out of his office every single day. She wasn't going to be that person.

"I imagine it's hard to keep a straight face sometimes? Like how do you respond to someone telling you something that is just completely ridiculous?"

So this was the game he was playing then? Dez bit her lip as she thought of all the 'things' on Swan she could grab right now.

"Let your imagination run wild with what you think I want to grab." Her eyes suggestively flicked downwards before she spun in her stool, picking up the blue drink again but this time taking a small drink before she held the glass at her lips.

"I bet I will have my hands on more than just that blade by the end of the night." Such a simple statement from anyone else... but this was Dez. Bets were something she took very seriously. Lifting the glass again she took a long drink, a trickle of blue liquid grazing her chin and then neck as it trickled downwards.

Clearly, Alec was not joking when he said he loved food, his order was a great example. Internally Havanah was piecing together why he ran so hard on that treadmill and now it all made perfect sense. With an appetite like that, it would be impossible to keep up such a good figure without that intense of a workout.

"So you work at the ATC? My little sister is currently a Stage 3 Candidate, a little shy thing really. I bet you will get a visit from her at some point. She's prone to panic attacks." Havanah tapped her fingers on the table while she quickly thought of how sad Aspen could be sometimes. Like seriously... she can't protect her from getting trimmed if she keeps this up.

"I work in the Inquiry Department." Some may see her title as something to be intimidating, but it didn't have to be so long as you never ended up in her office. "Not many other places an Illumino could be useful." Havanah shrugged, she was curious if Alec even knew what her psionic ability was up until now.

"So you're a counselor? I bet it gets hard listening to other people's problems all day." Havanah then signaled for the waitress again. "Can I get a hot chocolate with some whipped cream please?" Oh, how Havanah loved her whipped cream...

One by one everyone slowly began trailing in. First, it was Garza after Soleas, then Viktor. She could tell their names well enough based on the profiles she had researched before coming. Aspen always seemed to have a lot of time on her hands after drills and class, so what better way to spend it than researching your peers? The little keyboard she kept under her bed only offered so much entertainment anyway.

Before she knew it Soleas was already gone, running to sit beside Viktor Blackmourne leaving her standing there all alone. Her eyes scanned the room leaving her to choose between them or the tall and oh so intimidating Garza.

"Dammit Aspen, do something... move your feet... smile... DO SOMETHING" Pizza was no longer a priority, even as it arrived in the hands of the pilot walking in now. She could feel her chest tightening as everyone else grew more comfortable, almost like drowning in a room with no air. "So many people.... and everyone isn't even here yet."

Aspen gulped, the grip on her sleeve tightening as her muscles tensed even further. By now the cloak had already appeared, any shine about her gone. It acted more like a defensive than anything else and right now her mind was telling her she was under attack.

And then the music started.... Vaughan was here.

She was frozen, truly frozen in place as he walked towards her singing, her flesh most likely the same color as the sauce on the very pizzas being brought in. "He didn't... he really didn't... Yet the pizza song coming from his lips was just enough proof that he did.

That wasn't even the worst part either. He not only sang a song about her IN FRONT OF EVERYONE but then wrapped his arm around her ( an act that alone would cause her to die of heart attack) and then...

"He just kissed me... his lips just touched me."

After that she found herself fighting the urge of falling over. "Do not fucking faint Aspen... DO NOT FAINT!" Instead she managed to choke out some words.... completely ridiculous words.

"Song... great... umm...."

Taking a moment Aspen paused... breathing in trying to clear her head. "Thank you, Vaughan, your voice is lovely"

Tilting her head slightly that still rest on her hands Havanah laughed. "You can't tell me that sitting with me in the cafeteria was something you would have enjoyed. You were so quiet."

"However I will keep in mind that you never turn down food. Could use that to my advantage one day." Havanah then winked, letting one of her hands fall to rest on the top of the table while the other waved for the waitress to come over. "Ham and cheese omelet please... heavy on the cheese."

Waiting on Alec to order before continuing Hevanah sat back in her chair a bit, allowing herself to get more comfortable. "So what are you doing nowadays? Life after the ATC all you hoped it would be?"

The hand waving in her face caused Havanah to snap back to the real world. Half laughing she looked him up and down and debated whether Alec sweaty was a better sight, it was a close call.

"I know this place right around the corner that makes a mean omelet."

And with that Havanah was pushing open the door only briefly looking over her shoulder to see if he was following. The diner in question was literally right around the corner, 50 steps at max from the gym. In her opinion, it was an exemplary example of perfect product placement. Half the time she went to the gym all she could think about was coming to this place after for some much-needed nourishment, just like she was now.

Walking in the door Havanah picked a table by the window and let her gym bag flop on the floor after the strap slid off her shoulder beside a chair. Propping her elbows on the table she folded her hands together and rested her chin, smiling at Alec.

"You know I think if I would have asked you out for breakfast years ago you would have turned me down."

"Okay... I'll wait" Havanah smiled, adjusting the strap over her shoulder before she made her way to wait by the door. As she waited she tried to recall the very few memories she held of Alec, which was hardly any. In fact, all she really remembered was watching him walk past every once in a while. He was always quiet though... something that Havanah was not.

Regardless of how quiet he was though he had definitely made a lasting impression. Alec was hot, so so so so hot. In fact, now she was thinking about it she fawned over boys just like her little sister did now. For the life of her though she couldn't remember what number he was on her own list. Oh, how naive she was...

Since then Havanah had grown up, that Alec was not wrong about. She had taken her enthusiasm and channeled it into determination. She had rescued Aspen from the pit she was raised in and got her somewhere proper. She had settled herself as an Inquisitor and moved up in life. Havanah had long lasting friendships and didn't feel quite as alone as she did back then. So yes, her hair may still be blonde and she may still be easy on the eyes but Havanah was not the same. And so she would assume Alec had done just as her.... changed.

When Alec was finally done he would find Havanah standing by the door, arms still crossed over her chest as she looked outside. She was deep in thought thinking about all the things she had going on in her life at that moment. Some good, some stressful, and some bad. Yet, she was smiling because that was just it... this was her life.

The showers felt like a godsend against her skin as Havanah washed away the sweat acquired from a good workout. She stood under the water for a moment, simply letting it run over her as she enjoyed the sensation it brought on. Nothing beat the feeling of washing away all your hard work, not quite like this anyways.

When it was all said and done Havanah pulled her wet hair up into a bun on her scalp, bits of her hair still sticking to her skin despite her best attempts at towel drying it. She had already tucked her soiled gym clothes into her bag, topping it off with the wet towel. Zipping it up she threw the strap over her shoulder before making her way out of the showers in her normal everyday attire.

On her way out Havanah took note of the man still running on the treadmill. How long had he been running anyways? He was there when she arrived and even after her workout and long shower there he was... still running. Havanah was nothing short of impressed as she crossed her arms over her chest and walked towards him.

She heard him curse at who knows what while he wretched over in pure exhaustion. All Havanah could do was shift her weight and roll her tongue in her mouth while she stared at him, nothing short of impressed. It wasn't until he wiped away some sweat with a towel that she was able to recognize him.

"Alec Holding...." Havanah spoke to him in a familiar tone. She remembered him from back in her days at the ATC as a candidate. He was a few stages above her when she started, but it's hard not to get to know the ones who weren't trimmed no matter their stage. She hadn't really run into him since she herself became a Pilot, he worked at the ATC while she was busy as an Inquisitor. Really the only means of contact she had with most of the Pilot's nowadays was through the blog.

Of course, Havanah saw this as an opportunity to continue increasing her circle of friends. "Look at you!" Her eyes scanned him up and down. "Oh yes... look at you" her inner thoughts just as absorbed with his stature as her eyes were.... damn he was always so good looking! Next, she offered what anyone would be thinking about after a workout like that.

"Want to grab some breakfast and catch up?"

Physical Description:
Blonde hair and pale green almost blue eyes compliment Havana's light and ashy skin tone. Unlike her sister who bears dark hair Havanah inherited her blonde locks from her mother, however, they both have the same enchanting glare. Her body is toned due to an intense physical regimen that Havanah sticks to. She believes whole heartedly in being fit and at the top of her game all the time.

When not in uniform Havanah wears a pair of dark gray jeans accompanied with a light gray sweater, sometimes a leather jacket over depending on the weather. At her apartment, she can often be found in a pair of purple sweatpants in exchange for her jeans.

Personality:
Confident is definitely one word to describe Havanah. She's not snarky per se, but definitely, knows what she wants when she wants it. This doesn't mean she can't be funny when a situation calls for it. She can actually be easy to talk to (if you want an honest opinion) and actually enjoys the company of others. Beneath her wondrous attitude is just someone who finds joy in the little things and is often trying to make new connections with people.

Havanah is actually quite protective of her younger half sibling, Aspen, than she lets on. She is constantly checking in on her. Even though it seems all she can give is tough love in truth all Havanah wants is for her little sister to be a strong independent woman one day. She's willing to do whatever it takes to get her there, even if it means having Aspen think that she is nothing but a grump.

This, however, doesn't mean that Havanah doesn't have a dark side. As her profession calls for it Havanah can be cold and to the point and is actually quite good at manipulating a situation to better fit someone's mood. I mean that is what she does after all, even without the power of empathy she is renowned for her ability to get into someone's head. She only acts like this when she has to though and deep down doesn't enjoy it as much as she lets on.

Magic/Abilities:
Telepathy and Telekinesis: Havanah is average at both, equally just as good with one as she is the other.

Illuminokinesis: Using this ability in her line of work Havanah creates whatever image is necessary to break down someone's walls and make them vulnerable. Imagine it as her sledgehammer to even the toughest of obstacles in someone's mind.

THE FERRETS!:

Havanah owns two ferrets named Beau and Rayne. She finds them to be a pain in the ass sometimes yet enjoys posting pictures of them in cute outfits online and spending however many credits it requires for them to have THE BEST stuff. Havanah is a closet Ferrett junky.

Relationships:

Aspen Brookes - Sister

Pilot Noble Alec Holding - Boyfriend - AKA the guy who puts up with her crazy ass <3

Candidacy Mentor - Cameron Mathers

Dragon:
Name: Anson
Gender: Male?
Personality: Anson can be a bit of an ass sometimes. He is harsh and to the point yet somehow he and Havanah see eye to eye on most things. From the moment the two of them bonded, they have each had a mutual unspoken understanding of one another.
Description: Large and light gray, almost white with cybertronic veins running underneath the majority of his skin. He almost appears blue to the untrained eye.

History:
Everything was going great despite Havanah's family being members of the lowest caste. Her mother and father loved one another and most importantly their daughter. All of that changed around Havanah's 8th birthday when suddenly she had another sibling.... from a woman that was not her mother. Turns out her father wasn't the most faithful and so her parent's seperated, Havanah's mother taking sole guardianship of her.

Even without her father around Havanah's mother gave her enough love to replace what she had lost. One parent was just as good as two as far as she was concerned and so it never really affected her all that much. Growing up Havanah saw her father turn from the loving man she once knew as 'daddy' to the monster riding on the tracks of a never-ending bender. Worst of all she saw her little sister stuck on the same tracks as him.

At age 13 Havanah was picked up and entered into the Candidacy program after a mandatory health screening, turns out... she was pshycic. At age 14 she moved through to Stage two, followed by stages three and four, and finally five ending her candidacy at age 19. It didn't take long for her to find her place among the pilots as an inquisitor and so life went on... well for Havanah it went on.

Once a year on her little sister Aspen's birthday Havanah would visit, checking in on the sibling she had mixed emotions about for most of her life. Years went by of awkward dinners over some Pizza to celebrate the birth of a child that could have ruined Havanah's life if she let it. However, instead of hatred for this little dark haired girl Havanah felt pain. It wasn't Aspen's fault she was dealt such a shitty hand at life and so she vowed to do whatever she could to be what her father and stepmother couldn't be.

During a visit to Aspen on her 15th birthday Havanah picked up on something, something that could only be described as a miracle in her eyes. Aspen was psychic too, and so she reported her sister to the ATC, therefore resulting in her being immediately drafted into the program. Since then Havanah has kept a distant eye on her little sister, only stopping in should her sister need some straightening up or to be set back on the path of straight and narrow. Havanah is determined to make Aspen strong enough to stand on her own, knowing that one day she may not be around to help Aspen anymore.

"Aspirin" A lovely nickname bestowed on her by Soleas in the candidate blog. She knew who he was before she even turned around based on that alone. It was nice to put a name to a face however. She had seen him a few times here and there but never really had a conversation with him up until now.

With an outstretched hand, Aspen stared at it for a second, almost as if she didn't know what the gesture meant. Slowly she extended her own to shake it, her body stiff and motions nonfluid like a robot. "H-hi.." And then she was ripping her hand back to her side in a nervous fist.

"I-I uh don't know where everyone is." Eyes shifted nervously behind him, looking at the doorway that no one else had entered yet. "I don't know when the Pizza will get here or anything, Landis arranged all that."

With her other hand Aspen grabbed at her elbow, a nervous gesture she had picked up far before she ever came to the ATC. "Stop acting like an idiot..." she told herself, knowing she was far more anxious than she should have been. "It's not like he is gonna bite your head off or anything." Yet despite how true that statement was she just couldn't shake the feeling.

Realizing he apologized for his attire Aspen then gripped at the sleeve of her jacket thinking maybe she should have shown up in her own training gear, then at least it would look like she was busy instead of a hermit. "I can't wait for everyone to get here so that we can get started." She was fully aware she was the worst kind of conversationalist, but then a glimmer of hope crossed her mind.

"Pizza... if you stay you get pizza." A new found determination swept over her at the thought and she smiled. "I think it will be fun."

An open hand quickly fell limp as the man grasped at her wrist. At first, she was confused chewing on his words in her own mind before delivering some of her own.

"Dez..." So his name was Swan, he sure as hell didn't look like one, or act like one for that matter. Already he was a big ball of hypocrisy with both his actions and his name pointing at exactly that.

"So let me get this straight." Dez finally pulled her wrist back when he released it, opting to reach for the glass of blue liquid instead. However, she did not lift it to her lips but instead moved the cup so that the liquid whirled inside. "You can grab my ass but I cannot touch your shit?"

Her brow was raised in accusation as she stared him down. "Hardly seems fair" Dez then lifted the glass to her lips, taking a whiff of the liquid before again setting it down. "I mean... grab all you want... no harm ever came from copping a feel." And then she was at it again, taking her other hand to reach for the knife this time around.

(OOC: No posting order I assume, just keep track of your charries conversations ^.^)

Staring at her own reflection Aspen took in a deep breath, closing her eyes as she tried to muster the courage to meet everyone in the rec room they established for movie night. Her fingers curled around the edges of the sink as she leaned in closer, furthering the study of her own reflection one more time. "You can do this Aspen..." a mantra she repeated while tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear that wasn't quite long enough to be pulled back with the rest. "You talk to them on the blog all the time... this is no different."

Flicking off the light she stepped out of the bathroom and looked at the empty bed next to hers. It used to belong to another girl, but she didn't make it to Stage 3 and Aspen had yet to be assigned a new room mate. It could have been the reason she decided to reach out and plan this entire party, being alone all the time... it's not great for your mental health, or so she was told. Another reason is that she was supposed to be focussing on team work and so distancing herself and hiding in her room all the time wasn't going to cut it anymore.

It would still take a few minutes for Aspen to finally gather the courage to exit her room and when she finally did the moment her door clicked shut behind her she could already feel the anxiety building. With each step down the hall, she held her hands straight at her sides, fists clenched in balls of nervousness. "Come on Aspen! Get it together!"

If wasn't intentional at first, the lack of luster about her. Aspen had grown so used to making herself as dull as possible that by now it was almost like second nature to do it every time she left her room. Taking a mental note she uncloaked herself, causing her anxiety to multiply at least tenfold.

And then.... as if it couldn't get any worse Aspen discovered she was the first to arrive. Immediately she regretted leaving so early and debated turning back around. "You're the only one here! Oh no!". Stepping further into the room Aspen's breaths drew heavier as she began to panic. "What if no one comes! Great job Aspen! You are a joke!"

Placing one hand on her hip while the other rested on her forehead Aspen tried to calm herself down to no avail. "Just go back to your room and forget this ever happened. I can make friends another time... clearly, I'm not ready for this." Yet despite how much she wanted to leave Aspen stayed put, blankly staring at the wall with her back facing the doorway. "If I leave now I could run into someone which would be worse."

"If I said no I wouldn't be surprised if you followed anyway." Her tone a murmur as she made her way towards the bar in question. This man was definitely drunk and based on how he was following her like a dog he was exactly what she needed right now. In her mind, she was already going through a checklist of things she could take from him.

Climbing up onto a stool she slid to face the bartender, signaling for his attention before turning her attention back towards the ass grabbing man. "Could be my first time... or not?" Dez shrugged as she tried to remember if she had visited this particular bar on Cancer before. "They all start looking the same after a while, to be honest."

Her gaze quickly shifted towards his belt and the lovely looking blade sent her eyes into a sparkle. Immediately she reached out for it, grabbing at it eagerly. "What a cool looking blade!" Internally she was already gauging how much she could fetch for it.
