A soft white flush crossed Fiona’s cheeks, and she was looking just about anywhere than at her father’s face. The awkwardness hung in the air like a fog. Why did she have to discuss boys with her father? She would’ve had an easier time talking with him about face eating aliens. “I… guess so,” she said, swallowing nervously. Unconsciously, she turned invisible, and it took her a full minute to realize what she had done and regain control over her powers.

“So, um, how are the negotiations going with um… Senator … Farafra?” Fiona asked, desperately trying to change the subject. She probably got the name of the senator wrong, but anything was better than the subject they were currently on. “You’re not cheating her out of her money are you?” she asked with a bit of a forced laugh. Fiona certainly knew her father’s reputation for being a very good diplomat, which she had eventually came to know as just being very good at manipulating people. Oops, with her father’s gift, he definitely heard that thought.

Natasha pretended to think on it for a moment. "You make a very tempting offer, Mr. Raf," she purred. She placed her cold metal hand on his chest and very slowly slid it down. "However, I'm a little too jaded to jump into bed with the first man I see anymore." That wasn't to say she wasn't extremely aroused by his advances. Already her biomechanics were warning her of increased hormones and temperature. It was all very clinical for what was a very intoxicating experience. But that was good. It kept her from doing anything rash. "Maybe a bit of a trade could work out. You keep my father from killing me, I provide free medical care for your 'exploits,' and we can shamelessly flirt for a while. After we know each other a bit better, we can talk again."

She gave him another sly smile. "Of course, we can always make it a game if you wish..."

Fiona wasn't sure how much she trusted her father's words, with him there was always a catch. Even his favortism of her came with the catch that she had powers. At least he was giving her a choice in the matter. She had always assumed he would choose her husband for her, regardless.

She thought for a moment. There weren't any particular boys that stood out in her mind. Most were generally nice and good looking, but it wasn't like she had a lot of one on one time with any of them or seen them outside of these parties. "I suppose Colin Murphy is ok," she said, struggling to come up with a name. Colin was the son of a general or diplomat (or maybe both?). He had dark brown hair and the brightest smile in the group. A bit of a tease, he was very confident and knew how to hold a room. Still, it wasn't like she held him particularly above the others. She wished there was one that she felt a spark for. A real connection.

Natasha moved a bit closer as well and began playing with her hair a bit. It was already a mess of corkscrew curls, so it was fairly easy to get one to dance in her fingers. "I don't know, it's been a long time since I played with a bad boy. Probably not since before med school. They were too... distracting. Especially since I was busy being a bad girl myself, going and becoming a doctor." She playfully lifted up the stethescope she was wearing for emphasis. "Daddy wasn't exactly thrilled with his little girl being more than a pretty paperweight."

Fiona wasn't quite sure how to feel about this. All the talk of stalk and high class peers and a 'good match' kind of made it feel like her father was arranging a political marriage, which she had no doubt he was perfectly willing to do. It sucked the fun out a bit. On the other hand, there were some pretty cute guys at these parties, and here her father was giving her full permission to find a boyfriend. She could already think of a few boys who had caught her eye at the last dance. Maybe not marriage, but definitely kissing material. Not wanting to disappoint, Fiona answered with the safest answer she knew-

"Whatever you wish, Father."

Natsha gave a giggle. Was he flirting with her? The instincts of her old life screamed 'yes,' but it seemed so outrageous with all of her clearly robotic prostetics. He was likely just having casual fun. Still, casual or not, she missed having a man's attention and the back and forth banter of flirting. "Oh? A pirate, my aren't you the bad boy. And have there been many pretty ladies in need?" she teased back.

As awkward the talk in the car was, Fiona did her best to forget the incident. Luckily, it was relatively easy with her father going here, there, and everywhere in the galaxy. And now that he was back and they were going to a party, she was more than willing to forego the incident entirely. Besides, parties where places to relax and shamelessly flirt with boys. It was the one place her father didn't seem to get on her case about.

Parties in particularly were especially fun. Her father had gotten her a new purple dress that complimented her green skin and silver hair with a delicate silver chain necklace. There was something of an ego stroke to have physical gifts reminding her that SHE was Emrys' favorite. It was both something she rather enjoyed and her siblings despised. Not that that was any different from any other time. Even as she was leaving, her older sister sneered at her, though nothing more. The rare times the siblings fought, Fiona was not afraid to pull the 'favorite' card. Sometimes, Fiona wished she had a closer relationship with her siblings, but it wasn't like she could do anything about it.

In the car, when Emrys brought up his question, she was taken aback. Emrys never approved of any relationship with a boy, and all he ever talked about was her becoming a pilot. A dark green blush colored her cheeks. "Since when do you talk about marriage, Father?" she asked.

Fiona was in a state of shock, completely unprepared for the emotional baggage her father had just dumped on her. Should she feel happy? Sad? Scared? Relieved? She was very solidly confused, like she had just seen a crocodile speak english. She sank deeper into the chair, quietly processing everything he'd said.

Natasha looked at him with raised a surprised eyebrow. She could understand taking in a stranger for a while in a panic, but hardly a freeloader. "And what kind of work do you exactly do, Mr. Raf?" she asked. "If you do not mind me asking of course."

It was better for the good doctor to know at least partially what she was getting into. For all she knew, staying with Raf was more dangerous than running on her own.

Frustrated, Fiona snapped, "Since when did you care what happened to me if I didn't become a pilot?! You'd just have another kid, right?" As soon as she said the words, Fiona regretted it. Though she didn't know if it was because she was afraid she would hurt her father's feeling, or confirm them. "I'm-I'm sorry."

Immediately, she called her light to her and used it to turn invisible. In the car, she had nowhere to run, but it at least made her feel slightly less vulnerable.

Natasha giggled a bit at her shipmate's rambling. It was cute seeing a gruff man like him seem flustered. She thought about it for a moment before answering somberly, "I wish I could set up a proper clinic, but as it stands, I think any roots I could put down right now would only lead to my death." It was something she was sadly coming to accept now that she learned that her own father was trying to kill her.

"If I ever become too irritating, I'm suppose you could drop me off at some underground syndicate or shady side corner. Doctors are always in demand in those circles..." Now she sounded as if she were trying to convince herself. In truth, she didn't know where she would go. The good doctor had gone from a luxery penthouse to homeless in less than a week and Mr. Raf was the first to take her in.

Fiona pursed her lips and refused to look him. She'd heard this story a thousand times before, and would probably hearit all the way until she was shipped off to Candidate Training. To be honest, she didn't really care about becoming a pilot, but it meant so much to her father. So she didn't say anything. Once home, she was probably going to shut herself in her room until tomorrow.

Natasha raised a sarcastic "really?" eyebrow at him. The scrapes were barely there, and would likely be a waste of bandaging, considering how little she had. The doctor pretended to think about it for a bit before saying, "Nope!" in a cheery teasing kind of way. There was a slight mischievous smile on her face as she returned to counting inventory, taking very good care not to look at him.

Fiona internally grumbled all the way to the car. She wasn't quite sure what to open with: what was wrong with THIS boy? or I'm sorry. or I hate you. Alright, maybe not that last one. While deciding, she juggled a small ball of light inbetween her fingers, much like a marble. It was something she often did when upset. Occasionally, she glanced up, trying to gauge just how mad her father was.

The first time Natasha really notice the attractiveness of rescuer and now new “partner in crime,” was a few days after he had taken her in. He was working on some sort of machinery for the ship and she just so happened to catch sight of how his muscles flexed as he worked in the heat. Oh yes, even as a doctor with half her limbs chopped off, she was still very much a woman. She could still appreciate a good looking man, even if the attraction would not be mutual.

She returned to taking inventory of her instruments, cataloging what needed to be replaced. All the while subtly, and not so subtly, occasionally glancing over at her ship mate. She had never realized what he was hiding under that large jacket up his. Such a shame too. Had she been in her former glory, she could have swept a man like him off his feet if she only winked at him.

A chill ran down Fiona’s spine as she felt the familiar touch of her father’s power in her mind, calling her to obey. In truth, he didn’t really need to do it, she had been trained enough to obey without it. It was more for the intimidation factor. She felt the boy in her arms go stiff with a cold sweat, one she seemed to share. Slowly and deliberately, she extracted herself from him and cautiously looked up at her father. Oh dear. She thanked her lucky stars she was his favorite. Had she been her sister, Jilana, she would have certainly died the first time this had happened.

She dragged her feet as she walked to his side, head hanging down in shame. The green girl knew she had let him down. And for what? A boy? That fact hurt quite a bit. She couldn’t even imagine what could be running through his mind right now.

The more rebellious side of her was mad. What was wrong with a little kissing? Just because she was perfect didn’t mean she couldn’t have a boyfriend! In fact, shouldn’t her father be encouraging this? Finding the best partner to “carry on the genes?” Of course, it was at this point, she remembered her father was also a telepath who could very easily read her mind, and she switched to trying to solve calculus problems in her head.

Fiona was incredibly nervous, but she was smart enough to know that she would not be leaving this room until she did as she was told. The poor girl nodded and bit her lip slightly. She had never done so before in front of an audience of adults. Children were easy to please; a ball of light was enough to get smiles. Grown-ups were harder; they wanted to see fancy stuff. Fancy stuff that Fiona didn’t know how to do.

Carefully, she closed her eyes and imagined that she was gathering the light in the room and concentrating it into her hands like she had before. It didn’t work. Five or six times and it still didn’t work. The doctor was becoming more frustrated. ”Now, dearie, we haven’t got all day,” he said. ”If you don’t do something soon, I’m afraid we’re going to have to be a bit harsher on you.” Then he pulled out a taser that made a loud crack sound as he turned it on.

Scared now, Fiona imagined desperately to bring all the light together. The room grew dark as all the light merged together at once. It was too much for an inexperienced child to handle and effectively created a kind of flash bomb.

Somewhere, in the back of Fiona’s head, she knew her father was going to kill her if he found out, but d*nm she loved kissing. Today, it was with a very nice looking boy. The son of some captain or other, he was average height with sharp cheek bones and a voice like honey. And what he did with his hands was just pain sinful. This wasn’t a serious thing, but she was considering it if the kissing was this good.

In theory, this boy was everything Emrys said he approved of: strong, intelligent, good-looking. His poor daughter was sadly under the delusion that, despite the other ten very similar boys he had rejected, her father would actually accept this one. And hiding in the corner of a forgotten hallway, having her tongue sucked out of her mouth was not helping her judgment skills. Luckily for her, this boy did not know who her father was and she had been very careful to keep it that way. It helped that she didn’t resemble him at first glance. Otherwise, it was unlikely he would’ve ever dared to touch her no matter how pretty. Emrys had gotten quite the reputation when it came to any sort of romantic relations involving his “favorite” daughter.

Originally, Fiona thought she would be in trouble when the nanny caught her with her siblings playing with a ball of light about the size of her hand. It would float up and and down and spin in the air: a marvelous companion for children. Lila had screamed at the top of her lungs and ran to the phone to call her father. When Emrys came home, he was unusually friendly. Fiona wasn’t quite sure about this change in attitude, but she enjoyed it all the same.

In the car, she earnestly nodded. However she was becoming more and more nervous. She had never been alone with her father before like this, and wasn’t really sure what to expect. But the nanny had said to just agree with everything he said and not to say anything unless asked.

The doctor honestly scared her more. He was large and balding with tufts of hair sticking out at odd ends. His smile was too wide for his face. He smelled bad. He looked at her strangely. But the stern look from her father told her she was not getting a choice in the matter. So she followed into the testing room where they poked and prodded at her for several hours.

Physical Description
Had she been born into another life, Fiona would have made a magnificent dancer. Delicately beautiful and extremely graceful with every step, light always seems to fall on her at just the right angle. Her silver hair gives a soft glow similar to moonlight, and her green skin is considered exotic in many circles.

At first glance, she does not appear to resemble her father, but to look at them side by side, it is clear that many of her more attractive facial features come from his bloodline. She dresses to emulate him, keeping her hair cut at female regulation length and her school uniform in good condition.

Personality
Fiona is a bit of a “daddy’s girl,” which has gotten her into quite a bit of trouble with both outsiders and her own siblings. She enjoys the extra attention her father gives to her, but she often feels very lonely and distant. She enjoys pleasing other people and for the most part is very pleasant to be around. However, the mask can only hold up for so long, and occasionally she will privately breakdown crying in her room from the pressure to fake being perfect. In those moments, if given the chance to escape it all, she might just take it.

She works very hard at keeping her “perfect” persona. However, that isn’t to say she isn’t a normal teenage girl. In fact, she has a secret love of chilly-cheese fries, soap operas, and boys; all of which she will vehemently deny if asked directly. She loves flirting and is always on the lookout for Mister Right.  But don’t think she’ll take just anybody. After all the BS of her dad bouncing around with multiple women, she’s determined to find somebody stable to settle down with.

Magic/Abilities
Light Manipulation (Illumokinesis):
  • 30 second illusions
  • Humanoid size or smaller
  • Extremely convincing at 10ft or farther
  • Still in training

Relationships
  • Father: Emrys Perth Broin (tentative)
  • Mother: Unknown/estranged
  • Siblings: bad in general

History
Fiona was born to Emrys and his one-night stand party animal who was happy to abandon her to her father once she was born. Emrys never named this absentee mother, and Fiona was too scared to ask. After a while, she just stopped caring. Emrys had very little interaction with her until she was seven and her powers manifested. All of a sudden, she was valuable. He emotionally manipulated her with praise, all the while causing a rift between her and her other “less special” siblings. From then on, the pressure always seemed high, though it did have its perks. She often received gifts, went to parties, and was generally well received by her father’s colleagues (and their sons.)

These days, Fiona is spending more and more time training her powers, preparing for the day when she is to join the pilot program. It’s not her dream, it’s her dad’s, but at this point it’s not really like she has much of a dream of her own.
