Floating alone in the cold vacuum of space is a dark, derelict space station, abandoned and empty. The outer hull bears multiple marks of carbon scoring, as if it had once been the target of small arms fire.
Within this station, the darkness inside is as prevalent as it is outside, lit only occasionally by the stubborn sparking of bared wires and the flashing of control panels.
This is Eros, an unmarked and forgotten wreck of a place. Those who would know to look for its records would find none, the licensing of this structure having long ago been erased without a trace. Yet, obviously, it exists.
Within the dark confines of the station, a control panel suddenly flares to life with a harsh blue glare, and a broadcast is sent into known space.
"This is spacestation Eros requesting urgent assistance and evacuation. Something is here, killing us. There are only nine of us left, maybe more hiding...please, if anyone can hear me, this is spacestation Eros, requesting assistance...."
The broadcast continued infinitely in a loop, a desperate call for help.
