__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Rambert has the usual dark skin of the Yoreiqi; a rich brown close to chocolate. His hair used to be black but has turned light grey with age and stress. The streaks of dark blue on the left side of his head have also lightened to a light pastel blue. His short mustache and goatee combination would be considered a salt-and-pepper color since it hasn’t bleached completely. He keeps his hair short and simple, usually combed forward, with a few short bangs and small side burns. His face is lined with age, his eyes are small and dark, his face is what people would call ‘square-shaped’, and he carries a serious expression if not a scowl. He is quite tall, but not lanky. His years of training gave him a good amount of muscle, even if he is not “bulky”.
He sports a few scars across his body, like on his arm and back.
He also sports two macaw-like wings on his back with feathers of green, blue, and yellow. They are fairly large; they reach from his neck to his thighs when folded, and have a span of 6 feet when unfurled.

He typically wears his old uniform around the ATC, but otherwise has casual clothes. He likes to wear green sleeveless shirts, long black and dark blue sleeveless coats, white pants that flare but are tied at the end, and green boots. His common accessories are golden chain-like belts, a nice wristwatch, a small gold loop earring on his right ear, and black half-rimmed glasses. His shirts and coats all have places in the back for his wings to fit through.


Personality:
Gruff. That is a definite word to describe Rambert. He is serious, and doesn’t initiate conversation unless he has to get something done. Questions asked, especially if the person wants something, are likely to be answered with “no.”

He values honesty to an extreme. Even people considered far below him in ability and rank can impress him and earn his respect by being honest with him and themselves. He doesn’t approve of self-deception, and will try to disillusion anyone who is trying to do so. He doesn’t do it out of spite—he’d consider that a weakness—but because he actually wants the people around him to improve. He lives for when those he mentors or teaches rise to become a strong person both inside and outside.

Fairness is also something he takes seriously. He gives people exactly what they need; no more, and no less. Because of this, he does not practice chivalry, as he thinks it is an insult to treat anyone differently than he normally would. Even so, he knows when to pull back and when to push harder in order to get the desired results from students and strangers alike.


Magic/Abilities:
His main skill is cryokinesis, and though he’s not as strong in pyrokinesis, he can use it as well. Rambert does better with drawing the heat/energy out of particles than pushing heat outward and into something. However, during his time as a Pilot, he was forced to use both, and has enough control to use both with nearly equal skill, even if he favors cryokinesis. He also has strong telekinesis but fairly weak telepathy.

Rambert can fly for short distances, but his muscle bulk and height weigh him down a bit. Using pyrokinesis, he can push heat into the wind beneath him to give himself a lift and take some strain off his wings.

He is trained in hand-to-hand combat, and keeps his skills up so that he can help teach future Pilots. He has also kept up his skill with firearms, though he does best with small, sleek models with little to no backlash. He also has a skill he cultured himself: skill with a khopesh, a curved, sickle-like sword. He mainly prefers to disarm opponents he fights, and helps teach others to do the same.


Relationships:
Swale is the name of his large, dark green dragon. The two get along as well as Rambert gets along with anyone, and Swale doesn’t make much of an effort to become closer.

Rambert keeps in contact with a number of colleges and previous students. He also meets candidates from his classes and while watching some of the basic training.


History:
He was in the middle class of an Aedolian city (not Haviah) and was discovered to be a psychic at age 16. He went through training, became a Pilot, and eventually started mentoring. He had no aspiration to achieve higher than the 'Noble' rank. Later, he became a minister and saw to some of the administrative needs of Aedolis for a time, before retiring.
Though technically retired from missions, he still works with candidates as an instructor for Aedolian politics. He is sometimes asked to help out with hand-to-hand combat exercises for Candidates.


Other:
He's been around a while, so I'd like to see anything! Be a previous student or mentee of his, some colleagues who know him personally or by reputation, or claim to be an illegitimate son! He's open for all weirdness.
Trained killing machine. Will not hesitate to retaliate if threatened. That said, he has good instincts, and will likely be able to tell if someone is not hostile. Allows only a little affection, but can't act against naivete from very young people.
