To Wish Upon A Star, Part 1 [SilmeriaElemred]
« on: August 07, 2015, 11:32:12 pm »
@SilmeriaElemred

In the vastness of space where time did not matter, shone the light of countless stars. Their brilliancy illuminating many a world far and wide with the light of life, heat and possibilities. While many had worlds to watch over, some did not. Yet this loneliness in space opened up wondrous opportunities their other brethren did not have. In particular, the chance to descend wherever they wanted, and be like the many species on the many different planets scattered throughout the black vacuum, if only temporarily.

One star in particular who shone its yellow rays alone in one secluded quadrant of space, became aware of a whispered plea, the wish of a mortal soul. The star heard the little girl's voice as clear as day, the voice filled with sadness and longing to be heard. The girl was wishing on that very star, and after the prayer had been spoken, the great ball of flaming light felt it time to make itself known to that despairing soul. It was a broken cry for certain. It was soon after that the fiery blazing ball of heat and intense temperatures made its descent. The space where the star had once been was now empty as it rushed to fulfill the wish of a lonely young girl. A lonely young child who only wanted nothing more than to feel loved and a sense of companionship.

The light moved so incredibly fast, a speed much too quick for mortal eyes to follow. It traversed the cosmos until finally, it reached its destination. The Meeting Place on a world called Earth, where much turmoil and damage had taken root on its soil and very atmosphere, corrupting the beauty that it once held long ago. Yet as the light continued to dim, its flaming body also decreasing in temperature, the shape of a humanoid woman soon took form. Finally, the first part of the transformation was complete as Evadne looked up from her position on the ground, slowly standing up to her full six foot four inch height.

The Star had come here for a reason, if not for many seasons as well. The wish echoed around her being as she then took the time to adjust to this new state. Entering Star-Prayer mode, the Flameling spent a total of two weeks in her transcendental journey of spirit as the second part of her transformation occurred. Evadne emerged then from the cover of a large tree, although a dead and lifeless one at that, yet it provided the sanctuary she had required during this crucial time. After all, all earthbound stars went through this process, without doing so they would leave themselves open to unspeakable harm. And no Flameling would ever allow that to happen. Evadne was no different than all the others.

It was time to find the one who had called out to her. The little girl, her voice still as clear as ever to the celestial. And so she went in search of the wisher, letting the echo be her guide. Evadne soon came upon the edges of a great civilization, one of the last bastions of mankind on this here planet. Observing what she saw for a time, a series of gigantic, clear glassy domes which protected the inhabitants inside them from the harmful pollutants and smog of the outside world. The Star thought it to be a stifling way to exist but they most likely knew of no other way. It was as natural to them as the blackness of Evadne's starry home was to her.

The Flameling greatly wished to meet this soul, for she felt it to be the beginning of something precious. A friendship to be formed that would last for as long as the girl lived on this world. Something that Evadne was absolutely positive the other knew naught about. But soon she would know, and be a better person because of it, because of the light and warmth Evadne would show her. That indeed the girl was not alone and her wish had been heard. Evadne would make absolutely certain of it. The girl would know Hope for once, as Evadne would show her that very thing.

''Emily, stay close. If you dash off we go straight back home.'' A man spoke who was in the company of a woman and a little girl. The girl was dressed in a pink and white lolita styled dress with white socks and pink shoes. Holding a doll in one arm. The woman had a green victorian dress and the man a darkblue suit.

''And behave.'' the woman added.

''I will mommy.''Emily said. She attempted to hold her father's hand but he withdrew it. ''And remember, it is just for a few hours. I then want you to go to the room we rented so mother and I can work.''

''Can we please go to the meadows? At home I only see my room...'' she said softly.

''We could. It is safer anyway rather then in the city with all the glass anyway don't you think Dallas? She might get agitated.'' the woman commented.

''True.'' Dallas replied. ''Let us go then.''
--

After arriving in the meadow the girl ran a few steps. She smiled happily. But knowing it would only be for a really short time saddened her. She figured she'd just had to make the best of it.

''Your mother and I will be in the shade by this tree. Do NOT wonder off to far or you'll be taken home instead by Farren. Clear? And no playing with other kids.''
They were not alone there. A few more children with their parents were playing too. But to Emily it did not matter. She always played alone. Not being allowed to play with anybody else. ''It will be just you and me then Princess Sophie.'' she said to the doll and distanced herself a little from her parents but made sure that her parents could still see her.

Incoherent whispers flew through Evadne's mind as she searched the area. The little girl was around here somewhere, yet the Star still had yet to enter the first city encased in all the glass and metal platforms beyond. She could sense the girl was nearby though.

No wind blew here as the air itself was dead, toxic, near lifeless. Only those mortals she saw whom dared to come out past their city walls had to wear a thick mask over their nose and mouth so they didn't accidentally breathe in any of the poisonous fumes. Evadne didn't suffer the same effects, though that's not to say there were no other effects. In addition to being really uncomfortable, the fiery aura around her clashed with the thickness of the fumes and pollutants around her very being, making her light dim ever so slightly.

Yet she tried not to let this bother her too much. The wisher needed her aid, and it gave the Star a purpose once again. Most of the time, she was here only to explore, with the occasional exception here and there where that did not apply. Once she had helped to save an entire planet with the help of some allies she had recruited, to save it from an extremely evil force of darkness and hate. They had eventually succeeded in their quest, but it had not been easy. Not one bit. Still, the job had been done and with that, she had bid farewell to her companions and left for home again where there she stayed for an indefinite period of time before making her next descent elsewhere.

The humans and other races that were in this desolate area paid her little if any attention, either because they did not see her or were busy with their own pursuits. Although some parts of it still held much greenery and life, their freshness and vibrant colors seemingly not as affected here as the rest of the world was. In the Meeting Place she supposed that was normal, given its name.

Walking a bit further, the echo lingered ever so subtly, yet seemed to get stronger all of a sudden when Evadne noticed a little girl with her parents in one part of the meadows. She was playing with a small doll of hers, all by herself, her parents content for the most part to ignore her while talking amongst themselves under a tree. She gazed upon the little girl then, sadness present in her eyes yet also gladness for she knew she had found the source of that wish. The echo sounded once more, before it faded away for good, leaving the Star to observe the sight in front of her. Still, she made no move to engage in conversation, as the mortal's parents may not approve and might try to intervene if she did.

Evadne bent down to examine a flower growing in the lush grass on the ground, admiring its resilience to stay alive. It was a white flower with five petals, and an orange center. Dark green leaves framed its earthy body, its aroma sweet and fragrant as she bent down to sniff it, fingers softly going over the smooth leaves.

Quietly humming Emily played with her doll and seemed to have a whole conversation until two other children showed. Young boys, maybe a year older then she was. They had less neat and pretty clothing then she had. Covered in dirt and grass stains but they greeted her friendly.

''Would you like to play with us?'' One asked.

''I...'' she looked at her parents whom were to busy with she guessed it, work. ''I can't my parents never let me.'' she admitted.

''Oh. That's to bad.'' the other boy said and the two walked away. Although Emily could hear them say that they thought she felt to good for playing with them.

''they truely will not let me...'' the girl said and looked at the doll which she hugged. She noticed a shadow though and when looking up it was her father.
''Who were those boys?'' he asked.
''They asked if I wanted to play with them. I told them I couldn't.'' she said softly.
''Good.'' he said simply but did not leave.

''We will leave in a few minutes. Your mother and I got a call from work something went wrong with our shipment.'' he said.

''But.. but we just got here... please let me stay pappa, I promise to behave and be by myself...''
''We are going. I will not tell you again. Or it is straight back home with you got it?'' he asked less friendly.
Emily did not get up though. Not even when her father said her name a bit more threatning.

''It is always like this. I barely get to go outside, and have no single friend. It is not fair. And the one time you and mommy can take me somewhere this happens. It is not fair!'' she cried.

''ENOUGH!'' he looked at his wife who nodded and grabbed her phone, most likely to call Farren. ''You clearly do not know how to behave. What on earth must we do with you. You have everything a child could wish forl Are you this much of a spoiled brat Emily Aleya Violet Angelica Khasuul!'' he grabbed the girl by her arm. ''we're leaving, now.''

Witnessing the whole scene that took place there, no doubt many of the others had too, Evadne only felt sadness and pity for the young girl but did not step any closer or make her presence known. It would only cause trouble.

As the girl's parents turned to leave, grasping an unwilling child in hand, one of the other parents, a woman with short black hair and tanned skin more specifically, shook her head in disgust. It was clear to her that the child did not in fact, have everything she wanted, but rather the opposite. Having two children of her own, she always allowed them play time and friends as not doing so could harm them psychologically in the long-run. Yet she didn't have the right to tell another parent how to raise their child.

Evadne stood there as discreetly as she could manage, when she noticed the girl had left her doll behind in the grass, her parents obviously in a hurry to leave, not giving her the chance to pick her cherished toy up again. As the three marched away, the Flameling went over there and retrieved the doll, her touch leaving strange sparkles of light on the porcelain toy as she held it out to the little girl with a smile. "Here you go, sweetie. I saw you left this behind."

''Thank you kind lady'' Emily said with a smile. Although she could not hide her tears. She gave the lady a polite bow for as far as she could though with her arm still being held.

''Thank you.'' Dallas said before he and his wife returned to the city where Farren would be waiting to take the girl back home.

''Do not sob Emily. If you'd just behave you could have stayed with us.'' the stepmother spoke.

''I'm sorry mommy...'' Emily said and looked back to Evadne briefly waving before silently following her parents.

Even as the three of them made their way back to the city, Evadne watched them go, holding up a hand briefly in farewell as the little girl was dragged back there. Tears glistened in the young child's eyes as her parents roughly escorted her back with them. Evadne felt her own eyes start to water, but unlike normal tears these were of a warm golden glow, possessing their own internal heat.

By this time the trio were already gone, and Evadne sighed as she contemplated what to do now. The Star would stay here for a couple of hours before she too would head into the city. Mayhap she would come across the little girl again. For now, she contented herself with watching the people around her as the children played, the parents supervised and the animals that were here frolicked. Very close to all the life she observed from space, but at the same time, oh so far away still.

At a hotel where they stayed in a rather luxery room, Farren who appearantly was a sort of butler helped Emily pack her little suitcase.

''Will Master and Mi-lady be alright on their own?'' he dared asking.

''Come back when the girl is home. There are a few servants in the house that will make sure Emily will have food and will see to it she studies.

The girl just clinged on her doll. ''I don't want to go home...'' she sobbed softly but if Farren heard he did not respond and her parents did not hear. They were at the door and bad both Farren and Emily goodbye. After all there was work to be done.

''Farren... do they hate me?'' Emily asked.

''I am not sure little lady.'' Farren replied. ''Your father finds it hard maybe to be with you.''
''Because he thinks I killed my real mommy?'' she asked as Farren closed her suitcase.

''I will bring you a nice treat when getting back.'' Farren suggested. ''How about a nice basket of strawberries?''

''I love strawberries Farren but... I just... need a friend. Someone to play with. Someone who does want to me my pappa or mamma.'' she said softly.

Farren took the suitcase and the little girl's hand. ''Unfortunatly someone with my age can not find another job quickly and I am a live in butler. I can not risk my job for you.''

''It is alright Farren I understand. I heard pappa say once that when I have come to age I could perhaps be a part of an arrangement. Whatever that is...'' she said as the two left the hotel.

Underneath the starry sky at the Meeting Place, Evadne sat back against a tree and focused on all the life around her with a smile. The aura around her glowed in response to all the children playing with each other, having a grand old time. Then she was quickly reminded of the little girl who didn't have that in her life, due to neglectful parents. Her light dimmed a little as a result, but was still there as such an ethereal light could not be completely extinguished.

The Star keenly observed all those around her for some time before getting up, starting to make her way to the city gates, inside all the glass domes where metal, glass and concrete made up the very foundation of the peoples' lives there. To her it was a very unnatural way to live, but the earthbound Star went with it as she had done so many times before in order to adjust to something unusual on other worlds.

Millions and billions of years of life saw to it that there wasn't much the Star hadn't seen before, especially one who was given the freedom to travel anywhere in the universe at any time she desired. It was entirely possible that one day her situation could change and with it that freedom to explore would be gone. However, it wasn't so much a depressing thought as it was something that all her kind accepted as it were. Some that couldn't descend now may be able to later, as well as the opposite were true. Such was the nature of Stars and their very existence.

Evadne heard the distinct sounds of gasps and 'who could that be?' as she made her way inside the first city of the great nation called Aedolis. It was nothing unusual to her as she had experienced this very thing countless times, it long ago having ceased to really affect her. Looking up, she no longer saw open sky, but a myriad of walkways and platforms stretching for as high as the eye could see. Cars and other vehicles whizzed on by, their loud noises only part of all the cacophony evident here. Various machines did their work efficiently and without complaint, as they possessed no soul inside of them, mechanical things that they were.

Eventually she found a small piece of nature in this synthetic place, a small garden plot where she took the time to sit down and just relax, still observing everything around her. Several people came up to her and chatted with her, and Evadne welcomed them in turn, chatting with them as well. Soon, she was alone again and the celestial being hoped she would once more meet the little girl. The sadness prevalent about the small child was not something easily forgettable, especially not to a Star.

((OOC: End of Part 1, moving on to Part 2 now.))
