Sit Down and Pay Attention to Me! (open to all candidates!)
« on: January 19, 2013, 01:05:26 am »
Aisling still couldn't believe there was an entire class on this ridiculous excuse for a subject, let alone that he had to teach it! When he had received the textbooks he was fairly certain that Pilot Royal Rosales was playing an elaborate joke on him. There was no way he could take such a thing seriously! Teaching a class like Comprehensive Metal Alloys as they Pertain to Psionics was so beneath him the mere concept was not only laughable it was simply ludicrous!

And yet, there he was, standing at the head of the class room waiting for the hodge-podge of candidates to arrive. The class was assigned to candidates of various stages as well! It was all one big trial class and Aisling was none too pleased at being the one to have to conduct it. Actually it was more like he was part of the experiment and that bugged him even more so. He'd even been assigned a stage 5 candidate to assist in the teaching, something that seemed all the more absurd and obnoxious to the beautiful, graceful and elegant Pilot.

He grumbled a bit as he scrawled 'CMAPP' and 'Pilot Royal Sheehy' on the ancient board. After all they were making him do they could have at least found a better class room for him to hold this circus in. He underlined his name to impress upon its importance and majesty.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw some of the early students enter the room. "Grab a text book and find a seat." He grumbled a bit gesturing to a stack of books on the corner of the large table that served as his 'desk'. He sighed dramatically and flipped a lock of perfect, dark blue hair over his shoulder. Well, at least he could share his magnificence with those beneath him.

Nicole nervouly did as the man asked. She quickly grabbed the book and took her seat. Her first week and she was now part of some class. She didn't know why but for whatever reason she was assigned to this class.  She looked at the man and slightly blushed it was Pilot Royal Sheehy.  She couldn't believe it.  She had seen pictures but couldn't believe she was in the same room as him.

Nicole took a deep breath and tried to look through her book. Comprehensive metal alloys?  why was she taking a class on that? Well hopefully it proved interesting. Because if not it was going to be a long class.

It was always good to be early, she always surmised. Be there early, and no one would yell; it might be a little awkward, but no one was ever angry at someone who got to someplace ten minutes or so before the someone was supposed to be somewhere at sometime. At least, that's what she learned from human behavior; Polira concepts of time were often more cyclical than linear.

When in the Citadel, do as the Pilots do. Scooping up a small potted cactus under her arm, Mithra shuffled into the classroom as soon as it opened, sitting next to Nicole without another word. There were things to be done, and talking wasn't one of them! First, she had to get her partner in crime situated... somewhere where he would get the perfect view.

And so it was with aplomb that the cactus was plopped onto the desk, just beside her text book. To anyone not aware of her particular psychic talents, it merely looked like a case of OCD in action: she turned the cactus ever so slightly this way and that, eventually settling when the tiny barrel cactus's newest growth was pointed directly at the place where Aisling would be lecturing them for the class's duration. Just beneath the new growth, there was a small but noticeably exaggerated black handlebar mustache; a spectacularly bushy thing whose black hairs matched the wig that sat upon her head.

Is that good? ...No? ...Better?

Quite! Ah, nothing like a good appreciation of metals. You could learn a lot from this class, so pay attention.

She sniffled and wiped aside a tiny nub of flesh that had formed a makeshift nostril cover, happy that her friend could see and hear the Pilot perfectly. Quixote was always picky about learning, and seemed to favor the more 'practical' sciences.

Her eyes looked up at the instructor, then, before turning back to Quixote. Being a Stage 1, she knew nothing of shielding her own psychic interactions with her comrade-in-needles.

It does look like it knows a lot. That Pilot, I mean. It certainly seems to think a lot of itself; look at its preening!

With a stifled giggle, she flipped open her notebook and readied herself for notes.

June slouched his way into the classroom in a rumpled uniform that he was only wearing because Rosales had threatened to castrate him if he ran around the ATC naked anymore.  Man.  Trimming was one thing, but that?  That was downright uncalled for was what it was.  You didn't go around threatening a guy's junk!

He hauled a textbook up to one of the chairs in the back.  Good god damn.  A paper textbook?  You knew this was a bullshit underfunded class if it was still using paper.  June made good use of it.  He tore off little wads of paper out of it, balled them up, and tossed them at the other candidates' heads.

Nyline drifted into the classroom, looking very much like someone who wandered in by accident. After pausing for several seconds at the doorway, she walked up to the front and grabbed a textbook, giving it a thorough look-over. Apparently satisfied with it, she placed the book carefully atop her head and looked up, noticing the writing on the board.

".....’See-map. Pilot Royal Sheeee-hay.’ Oh...no. Pilot Royal Sheeee-hay. Hello Pilot Royal Sheeee-hay."

With that, Nyline turned and immediately took a seat next to the cactus, dodging paper wads. As she sat cross-legged in her chair, the book lay seemingly forgotten on her head. She looked over at the cactus.

"I like your mustache."

What a bunch of utterly pathetic mismatched freaks these candidates were! Was he really to waste his time teaching these rejects? They ones that were here were mainly gracies from the looks of it too. GRACIES! What a joke! Aisling was aware that this class would host all levels of candidates since this was the first time this class would be taught, but... ughhh!

At least the one blond girl seemed to recognize him from her reaction. As everyone should. Aisling was magnificent after all. The thing without a nose, carrying a damn cactus... and the idiot ripping up the text book and throwing the pages at people...

Aisling stopped the dodged paper ball in the air and used his telekinesis to hurl it back at the brat throwing them, full force and hard enough to actually hurt. "Behave yourself." He said glaring at the boy.

The newest weirdo was paid little attention. He wanted to get this bullshit started, and over with. There were still more students to wait for though. And his new stage five assistant. More things to babysit.

This wasn't one of Kiii's better days.  She might have been awake long before she was required to wake up, but it was because she couldn't bring herself to actually sleep in such a foreign place.  Then she had to deal with the clothing they had forced upon her, with its unstealthy colours and lack of cloth she could wrap up in for the night and its awkward proportions - the arms and legs all seemed too short, and the even thought of wearing anything on her feet downright baffled her.

And now she had to go out in public and go to a class in this.  Then entire complex had her on edge with its sheer population and utter cleanliness.  It had taken her several hours of lurking and wandering to collect enough dust and debris, settled into her fatigues and hair, to make her feel even a little safer.  Even if there wasn't really anywhere to go, a cloud of dust in the face was usually enough to distract someone.  She'd rather use dust from the ground, though; as she approached the door she had been told she had to go through, she could feel it tickling and caking against her scalp.

Dirt for shrouding aside, Kiii hesitated when she reached the door.  She could see that there were a number of people inside already, and some old guy was scribbling on the wall.  With her wide jaw set and mouth pressed to near invisibility, she plotted her route and slunk inside, stretching to lift one of the books everyone else had from the stack, catching her balance as it tried to knock her over, and slipped to the darkest corner of the room - not that there were any dark corners.  Her ears fluttered about, exposing her wariness with their attempts to listen to everything.

What a strange group of people! Being a Gracie came with its own special breed of naivety, and it was with that inexperience that she giggled at the sight of all of the other Candidates. How was she to know that these women and non-entities had the ability to become her coworkers, someday, assuming she made it through the program? It was just as likely that she would share a TRIM cell with one of them, but that reality hadn't quite sunk in, yet.

A female had stopped by and balanced a book on her head, motioning to Quixote with a nice little compliment. Had the cactus been able to move, he would have preened his magnificent mustache; for he thought it was just as amazing as the other Candidate did.

Introduce me. Your friend has good taste! The little cactus hissed, prompting Mithra to carefully pet the top of his barrel. She felt comfortable with the cactus's lack of pronouns- sometimes Mithra couldn't tell the sex of someone, either, and cactuses never needed to worry about such things. Smiling broadly at Nyline, Mithra offered the hand that wasn't patting the cactus.

"A pleasure to meet you, female. My name is Mithra, Stage One." Rearranging some of the bangs on her wig for a moment with the hand that had been on the cactus, she didn't notice that there was now a small spine hanging out of her bangs like some kind of deranged unicorn horn. Granted, it was small, but it was bright yellow from new growths and would stand out against her black mop of hair.  With her bangs tamed, she motioned to her little partner, turning him so he could see Nyline a little better.

"My friend here, he's Quixote. Mind his spines, they're sharp. Say 'hi', Quixote."

Any faunopath would have been greeted with the sound of a cactus choking.

Wh-what?! You don't know that person? Goodness gracious, why didn't you tell me?! Quixote sputtered frantically, causing Mithra to stifle a giggle and throw her hand over the front of his mustache. His frantic squeals of protest were quickly muffled, and she smiled without any guilt or questioning. Of course you quieted a plant by covering its new growths! Who didn't know that?

Looking to their teacher, Mithra raised her eyebrow ridges before focusing intently on its forehead. Pilots were strange creatures; so full of power and authority, so full of themselves, but they carried themselves with such confidence and grace that it was hard to dislike them. More than that, though, they moved with purpose and determination; they were at a place because they wanted to be, they were doing things because they wanted to do them, or they were on missions because it was their duty to complete them. Every Aedolian knew that.

This person, though, looked like it didn't want to be there. Pilot Royal Aisling- at least, if that was its name, since that was on the board- was busy trading shots with a Candidate that had been throwing wads of paper, and that hadn't left much of an impression on her. This wasn't the heroic image of Pilots she had grown up with. There had to be some mistake here. Pointing at the Pilot and leaning towards Nyline, she whispered her concerns.

"Who is that? Is it going to be teaching us? It doesn't seem like it likes us very much."

"Ow!"  Damn Pilot hit him right in the face with his own paper ball!  Except it was going at like a hundred miles per hour and felt like a freakin' missile!

June tore a whole page out, scrunched it up, and hurled at the Pilot, but it was too light to make it all the way to the front of the classroom and landed somewhere in the middle.  June huffed and fell back into his seat again.

Paris arrived then, just behind Kiii, and he was rather proud of himself for recognizing the other candidate.  If he was going to be any kind of decent counselor, he needed to get to know and hopefully remember as many of his colleagues as possible.

It turned out he was the highest ranked candidate there.  Actually he was the highest rank after the Pilot.

"Pilot Aisling."  Paris gave a casual salute, grabbed a textbook, and took a seat next to Nicole.  He gave her a friendly nod.

Nicole smiled at Paris, he was normal at least and didn't seem intent on  tearing up... pages or causing chaos so she spoke to him, as class hadn't started yet.  " Hello, I am Nicole" She managed to get out, she was a bit shy, being as low rank as she was. She didn't know how she felt about this whole candidate thing yet.

Nicole wondered what this class would teach her, as it seemed strange to have such a wide variety of students and to have paper books, but she shrugged, and kept her nervous smile at Paris, as she hadn't had much interaction with others yet.

Paris's eyes slid over to Nicole, though he stayed facing forward.  He spoke in telepathy.

"Can you speak telepathically yet?  Get good at it.  They won't tolerate you talking aloud in class."

Best she learn sooner rather than later that the Pilots didn't allow that kind of thing.  Then again, this was an odd class.  Pilot Aisling rather looked like he had bigger problems than students talking in class.

Dakota was not looking forward to this. Of all the subjects he had to assist in teaching, it had to be this one. May as well try to make it fun, he supposed, and he spent the entire walk there plotting all the different ways that they could possibly get through the hour without a whole lot of snoring.

He arrived on Paris's heels, dressed in his freshly ironed and pressed Stage 5 uniform with his curly red hair in impeccable order, accented with cute fruit-themed hair clips and a couple jingly bangles, just because he could. There was never an excuse for not looking one's best! Which was, unfortunately, something no few of these candidates could learn. Sigh.

He stepped up to the front of the room and took his position next to Aisling.

And looked on in horror at the catastrophe before him.

Why was there paper all over the classroom...?

He pulled his face into a cheery smile. "Hello, class!"

Miralay walked down the hallway, heading to her first class. She was a new student, freshly arrived the day before. She had met only a handful of teachers and students, mainly Arrow Archer, her roommate who seemed to be a shy and awkward kid, but a nice person.

Stopping right before the door, she could hear very easily that class was not yet started and that she wasn't the first....and if class was started it meant she was late and that there was an incredible problem with authority which...did not make sense in her mind.

Which means class simply hasn't started yet!

Good.

Even if she was still recuperating from that incident a short time ago there was no excuses, especially on a first day.

Straightening her suit, dusting off a few specks, a rapid spitshine of her shoes and she was ready. And so she entered the room.

At first she paid no attention to the events going around, a quick look at the board
-CMAPP
Followed by a quick look at the pile of books
-Comprehensive Metal Alloys as they Pertain to Psionics
Good! although she was quite knowledgeable on alloys, how they pertain to psionics, a new element of her life, was going to be useful.

She stopped right before the desk, clamped her feet together, gave a perfect and official salute letting out a firm ''sir!''  as she did and then grabbed a book as she heard was the procedure before taking a seat.

And that's when it hit her -mind you, not just the flying ball of paper that bumped her forehead, but the ridicule of the entire situation.

-Paper everywhere
-total lack of respect and discipline(at least to her standards)
-Cactus
-Mustache
-WAIT WHAT?

Focused on ignoring the state of the classroom and the very...mustachy...c actus, she took a seat and opened her textbook, ready for class, her artificial arm quickly turning the pages of the book for a first quick ''scan'' of the text.

Renilius had just burst into the room. For a moment, he thought he was at the wrong room but he looked at the single piece of paper he had and it read "Comprehensive Metal Alloys as they Pertain to Psionics". This was his room. A red-head girl just walked past him and walked into the room.

He followed the girl into the room and towards the books and grabbed one. Seeing as she saluted to the Pilot, hedid the same but in a charismatic way; waving his hand from his forehead to make a lazy salute. "'sup, Aisling. Hey Dakota." He is used to greeting his superiors without their titles. Somehow he thinks Reinas' high rank as a pilot gave him the right to address Pilots as if he was one too. Too bad He was just a Stage 5 Candidate, the bright red line on his collar and cuffs proving so.

He looked around to see scrunched up papers being thrown by some guy and another with a cactus. Ren was taken aback by the sight of the cactus held by another candidate. He was bothered enough by its moustache. "Weirdos...," Ren sighed to himself as walked to take a seat.

He decided to sit next to the red-head, he did not know much people in this class but Pilot Aisling and Pilot Dakota. He figure knowing a new-face is always a good thing, and a very cute chick too. He watched her immediately flick through the pages as he cautiously sat next to her. She had a green stripe on her collar and cuffs. A gracie. He just hoped she wasn't too young to be flirted to.

"Metals are your kind of thing?" Ren asked smoothly as he leaned next to the girl who had her head lowered to the book.

June was going to die here.  Literally die.  Of boredom!

The place sure was filling up fast.  One candidate with an artificial arm gave such a perfect salute to the Pilot it made June physically ill to see it.

"Kiss ass," he hissed at her.
