Cyrus threw both hands up, taking Temple's arm with him. "Hell if I know! Ya think I get handcuffed to folk often? We'll just...we'll just...we can't go outside like this."

"Stop that!" Temple yanked their arms back down.

"Of course we can't go outside like this. We'll just...have to be stuck in here like this together...for a week, gods!"

"Gods, ya don't gotta sound so upset about it! My company not good enough or somethin'? I mean, shit, I ain't happy about it neither but--forget it. Just. Fuck."

Cyrus heaved a sigh and rubbed at his face. His hand came back smeared with dirt and he grimaced. "Just gonna have to suck it up, Princess. A week. That's nothin'. Yeah." A week or so, but he was trying not to think about the "so".

Sometimes Temple could not believe Cyrus. The man handcuffed them together, lost the key, then has the nerve to complain about Temple's reaction to all this!

And how the hell was Cyrus being so okay with this and not him? How did he become the one who was overly freaked out by this prospect?

Okay, so...they were going to have to deal with this for a week. Or so. Fine. They could start now.

Temple dragged Cyrus toward the bathroom. "Come on."

Yeah. Everything would be okay. Just a week. That was alright. He'd been stuck doing worse for a week, like a mission in the sub-terrain. It could be worse. Yeah...

That was when Temple started dragging him to the bathroom.

Suddenly, shit got very real.

"Whoa, whoa, what?" Cyrus grabbed the door frame and dug in his heels. "What the fuck do ya think you're doin'?"

He knew exactly what. One of two things. Or maybe both. And he hadn't considered the logistics of either of them until this moment.

Temple tugged on Cyrus's arm. "Look. I need a shower. I'm taking one. We're stuck like this for a week. That means we're gonna have to figure out showering, shitting, and sleeping, and now's as good a time as any. I'm covered in algae and cave grime and the gods only know what else, and I need a shower. So suck it up and deal with it, Amadori, because we have to figure this thing out. I am not staying attached to you for a week with no showering."

He gave another tug. "Or do you have a better plan?"

Cyrus let out an agitated growl and rubbed his face.

"Ugh, fine! Fine! Just hurry the fuck up!" he said, and released the door frame.

Step one? Getting undressed. Easier said than done. Temple had to fish a pair of scissors out of the bathroom drawer and cut his shirt off. No other way to get out of it.

Then came the awkward part—stripping out of his pants and underwear. He did it quickly and without looking at Cyrus once, and as soon as he was naked he retreated behind the shower curtain. That made things a little better, if awkward to move about with Cyrus's arm attached to his.

With his arm outstretched as far as it could go, Cyrus leaned against the wall by the shower and closed his eyes.

Yup.

Happy place.

Going to his happy place.

His happy place where he totally didn't just see Temple butt naked. That happy place. The happy place where he didn't notice Temple's ass, or how firm it was.

With the shower curtain in the way, it wasn't so much awkward anymore as just difficult to get himself clean. He kept trying to use his other hand and coming up short.

Toweling off after the shower was a whole new level of awkward. No eye contact, dry off as fast as he could, try to remember not to use the handcuffed hand at all—it would have put Cyrus's own hand so close to his body...yeah. He finished in a hurry and pulled on a clean pair of pants.

"Your turn," he muttered.

Cyrus's eyes snapped back open when Temple spoke, and he found him thankfully, blessedly clothed, if shirtless, and looking much better now that he wasn't covered in grime. It took a second for him to register his words, and then his eyes snapped back to his face and he gave him an incredulous look.

"What?"

"Get in there. I'm not gonna be attached to you while you're all...gross and slimy."

If Cyrus wanted to make a battle of wills out of this, bring it on. Temple wasn't budging on this one.
