Vedrit climbed up and began clicking harnesses together and adjusting them, "Function before fashion is something I learned in the military, and it works well. But I've been all over the place. I mostly escort merchant freighters, so where ever they pay me to go, I go."
Making sure the harnesses were properly placed and adjusted, Vedrit sat in the forward seat and strapped in.
"There is a compartment in the hull to your right with a headset in. You dont need to put it on, but it wouldnt hurt, though they arent exactly made for your ears." he said, putting on his own headset.
Hitting a few buttons on the console infront of him, the screens came to life, and copies lighting up for Luci. Another button made the cockpit close, another started the hum of the engines, and another button hailed flight control
"Control, this Starhawk on departure." Vedrit radioed
"Copy that Starhawk, you are clear for departure." Came the static-ey reply.
"I promise to be slow." Vedrit said to Luci as he guided his ship through the dock out into space

Luci watched as ved clicked the harnesses together "Oh i see..sort of like a moderated taxi then? no offene ofcourse" she nodded and took the headset out, putting it on and giggling quietly to herself "I feel like a spy! you know the ones that put the headsets on as they get in they're um...cars! yeah as they get in they're cars and then they run away from the bad guys!" she grinned childishly and looked at ved her eyes bright and glistening.
"Thank you..." she looked down at her feet again and twirled a strand of firey red hair around her finger as she bit her lip; feeling a wave of nervousness wash over her again.

"No, more like armed body guard." he said, "I get payed to escort merchants, defending them against pirates or hostile forces."
Clearing the dock, Vedrit opened the throttle a bit, the engines humming a little louder, "This is what you're missing." he said, the stars reaching out endlessly around them.
Turning so the station was above them, he flew parallel to the station, "I can see your home from here." he joked, watching the levels of the station drift by

"Oh..right i get it! so your abit of a hero then eh?" luci smiled and looked at ved before looking out at the space around her "I-i.....its.." her eyes widened as she struggled to both breath and form a sentace "I've never...seen anything so...this...i.." she let out a shaky laugh as he joked about her home "How can you deal with this so calmly?" her smile widened and another shaky laugh left her mouth as she realised how stupid the question was "Ofcourse, you've done this before..." she looked back at ved her eyes becomming slightly watery.

"Hero?" Vedrit chuckled, "Not really. Im no villian, but its not like I go and help these people for free."
"Flying in space is like a lot of things. You never really get used to it, you just learn to deal with it better." he said somberly. Since he was infront of her, he couldnt see her eyes water, "When you've had enough, just say so." he added after a pause, changing course so they loop around the station, guessing she wouldnt be ready to return quite so soon.

"Yes i guess so..i dont think i could ever learn to deal with this in a calmer manner.." she looked back at the stars around them, tears spilling over her cheeks silently as the sight caught her offguard again "I dont believe i could ever have enough of this view..i could sit here and watch the years go by and never loose interest..." she wiped the tears away and laughed again her voice more certain than before "I cant believe i've managed to live my whole life without looking out the window...is that bad?" she asked a slight frown forming on her face.

"Some people are too busy to stop and look, and really appreciate the beauty all around them. What I do for a living is more than just a living, its almost a vacation; go to new places, see life forms few on Libra have likely seen, even over the net." he said, leaning back in his seat, "And always surrounded by the endlessness of space." he added and sighed.
"Then again, there are some people that look out to the stars and see power, or profit. Its better to never star gaze than to see personal gain."

"Whats that supposed to mean ved?" she narrowed her eyes at him and crossed her arms "It must be nice to live life like its a holiday.." she looked out the window and sighed to herself her ears folded back slightly "You can take me home now if you want" she spoke in a colder more quiet voice, irritation starting to boil the blood in her veins.
Hmm..is he suggesting that im too busy to look at the world around me, or that it was better that i didnt because i might of seen my own personal gain..maybey im just taking it the wrong way...whatever.. she thaught to herself, her jaws clenching together absentmindedly.

"It doesnt mean anything, really. You've never looked out a window, and that is neither a good thing, or a bad thing. I said 'some people', not all people." He said, a bit defensively, but tilted towards the dock, "Some would say I look out the window too much." he added quietly

Luci smiled slightly and uncrossed her arms, her ears perking forward fast enough to catch his last sentance "What do you mean look out the window too much?" she paused for a moment thinking about what it could mean before deciding to change the subject "So do you get lonely? when your out in space? if i had to spend so many hours on my own i'd get sooo' bored!" she looked at her home and sighed again unhappy that she had spent all of her life there.

Vedrit didnt respond. In part, she was right. Sometimes he did get lonely. He had often thought about getting a partner, to fill in the back seat, but he had never bothered to go through with it. Too many requirements, he would say to himself.
Vedrit flipped a switch, and the engies went silent, allowing the two to drift along, and silence filled the gaps

Luci tilted her head to the side as the engines died out "Ved? are you ok?" she reached her hand forward and tapped his sholder lightly "has something gone wrong on the ship?" she frowned slightly worried about they're current possition.
This isn't how i imagined the trip... she thaught to herself her ears folding back slightly.

"Yeah no everythings alright." he said, "You want to get some faux-solid ground under your feet?" flipping the switch to its origional position and the engines humming back to life.
'Jeez,' he thought to himself 'Am I in a mood now....'

"Im not to bothered unless you want to go back, either way" she smiled at ved happily before letting it drop realising he couldn't see her anyway "i hope you know that i can tell everythings not alright...is it somthing i said?" she bit her lip thinking back everything she had said "you know i don't mean to be mean to people...it just comes out, i dont have too good people skills i guess" she looked down at her hands and began to twiddle her thumbs "You don't seem the type to open up to people much..and i know im still a stranger to you but i'll listen if you need an ear, i know it helps me when i get things of my chest..." she trailed off running out of things to say and looked at ved waiting for his reaction.

"Its not something you said, not directly, anyway." he said, stopping the ship a few meters from the dock, "Im in a peculiar mood." he mumbled, "Besides, theres not much to say. What I've told you about my life is about it, nothing more, nothing less."
Taking a deep breath, Vedrit added "I dont have to be in space to feel lonely. Just the opposite, even. I take some comfort in that the stars, as beautiful as they are, are lonely when you get to them."

Vedrit leaned back with a sigh "Like I said, theres not much to talk about." and leaned forward, "Flight control, this is Starhawk requesting docking clearance." he radioed
"Starhawk, we confirm your access. Welcome to Libra." and Vedrit, without a further word, guided the ship into the docking bay.

"Thanks for showing me the stars...i really enjoyed myself" she turned her head away from him and looked out the window "Up until i fucked it all up with my stupid attitude..." she added before pressing her lips into a thin line, irritation rising up again.
Well done luci...you have successfully failed again..

"Dont worry about it." he said, setting the ship down and turning in his seat, placing a hand on her knee, "Everything is alright." and smiled.
Tapping a few buttons on the console, the cockpit opened, the engines quieted, and lights went out. With the ship shut down, Vedrit unharnessed himself, then started to unharness Luci. Just as he finished he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, and jumped down before she could react

Luci looked back at ved and smiled, happy that he was smiling "Ok.." she looked out the window at the familiar place that was her home and sighed contently; glad that she had ground under her feet.
"Thank you" she spoke in a soft voice as he undid her harness, her body stiffened noticeably as he kissed her cheek and her eyes widened a blush quickly covered her face matching her hair, her mouth hung open slightly in shock as her brain tryed to register what had just happened "w-wha?" she blinked quickly and shook her head before quickly hopping out of the ship "ved...were did that come from?" she tilted her head to the side her blush still evident on her cheeks.
