Another Big Night (Open!)
« on: August 11, 2008, 06:24:03 pm »
Disaster, that's what it was. This big, unsolvable disaster, and it was laughing at them.

"...got a call from IF this morning, and I assumed it would be Vaughan, but instead it's Jace. He tells me the set's off, they can't do it because their lead singer got recruited as a psychic. Can you believe this shit?! This would be funny if we weren't so royally screwed."

Cho's assistant took a moment to breathe, the sweat forming little rivulets on his brow. He was completely right, of course. They'd been billing it for weeks as the hottest live band to hit the stage since Syn's opening night three years ago. Indigenous Fairy. The band had signed a contract to perform and everything, and then... this. There were a lot of reasons to dislike the military, and compared to most of them this one seemed downright trivial. But here it was, the most incredible blunder in the history of the club.

"You know there are going to be almost nine hundred people here, and they will all be cheering and screaming and waiting for IF to walk out onto the stage."

Cho silently wished he would just shut up. She was trying to think of the best way to explain to the guests that Indigenous Fairy would not be performing, that Syn couldn't deliver, that they were simply the messenger for a broken band. Cho pictured herself trying to make that announcement, and decided it wasn't a pretty image. After a few seconds, she spoke, as calm and controlled as she could manage.

"Get on the channel with Jace again, ask him if he's found a replacement. If he hasn't, don't bother paying 'im. If you can find a good DJ and a holo of one of their old performances, the guests won't know the difference. Failing that, we're stuck trying to book another band... proba'ly the worst solution. The crowd wants IF, so that's what they're gonna get."

The assistant nodded quickly and scurried off down the stairs, leaving Cho alone in her small office. The computer screen hummed quietly, the only noise in the room. Even the opening DJs hadn't arrived yet, so it was one of those rare moments of silence in the club. Sometimes the nightclub owner tried to get some rest during these periods, but recently sleep had become more difficult for her. Not that she didn't try, she kept some soft pillows in the corner just in case she had time for a nap...

The computer beeped once, and her eyes snapped open. With more than a little effort, Cho got up from the pile of cushions and wandered over to the monitor, where a new message had arrived from someone she didn't recognize. Cho was about to delete it when she realized it was a mysterious benefactor, sending her library materials. Tonight. The implications were frightening. Like it or not, a bunch of sketchy crates were going to show up behind the club. Tonight.

She deleted the message and walked over to the window with a sigh. This had long day written all over it.

It was an about an hour before opening and Jace was pacing like a madman. His hair was tied back, the tip of his long ponytail swayed down by his hips and he chewed on his lower lip. Hands clasped at the small of his back, his guitar sitting on the stage next to Cory’s base, Pari’s own lovely guitar on the other side, where the microphone for Vaughan would be. Well, the microphone was there, but no Vaughan. Was it too much to wish that Vaughan just… Magically show up? Show up and sing and then go back to the ATC. He could deal with that.

No, they needed a new singer. Jace huffed quietly and ran a finger over his lip, the calloused digit scratching at the middle of his lip before he resumed chewing on it and pacing. Sound check was done, he just needed to calm down or ingest a ton of coffee so he didn’t start freaking out. Jace was part muse so stage fright was non-existent, but freaking out because there was no singer was a good enough reason in his books.  He should probably double check everything with Cho, they’d met briefly before Jace got everyone to set up.

The green eyed black haired guitarist wouldn’t be surprised if Jares was still playing around with his drum set, getting that perfect balance between the sound and well… Feel. Jace shrugged and let out a steady breath, his hands returning to their place clasped together against his back. Even if he was used to this, and even if it was Mitts job, being the manager didn’t mean he had to do everything. Jace was technically the leader of everything, Mitt just did… Stuff the band didn’t do. Like take care of business.

Which he failed to do in this case.

Which sucked, because now he was all nervous.

Licking his lips, Jace moved towards where he saw Cho last, clearing his throat loudly he cupped his hand around his mouth. “Cho?” Miss. Cho? Mrs. Cho? What was he supposed to call her? Captain? Employer? What would he ask? Hey, now that we’re here, what the hell do we do? We’ve never played without a singer?

Jace huffed quietly and waited patiently for an answering call. Maybe from Cho, maybe a surprise attack from a band member. He was open to all options, they still have a bit of an hour before opening, they weren’t as late as Jace had figured they’d be. Everyone had gotten ready surprisingly fast.

It was making Pari a bit nervous watching Jace pace around the room. Jace was supposed to be the calm one and seeing him freak out was just making the half pixie even more nervous. Twisting his own long hair between his fingers, the pure white broken by bright streaks of hot pink, Pari was trying to calm down.

And he couldn't even chew at his lip or he was going to mess up his careful makeup. Though he was rather impressed with the job he had done on himself and Jace. He had spent extra time and care today. Partly so that everyone looked their best for Vaughan's video, partly because it was like....zen. He could lose himself in it and not think about it.

His outfit tonight had taken ages to make. Though he really hoped Vaughan got a kick out of it. He was dressed in the stripper equivalent of a candidate uniform. There weren't really much in the way of pants, they had been cut down into a pair of very skin tight hot pants that made one rather curious as to where and how Pari managed to...tuck himself. It wasn't very comfortable to say the least and there was still a light bulge, but with the lighting and being on stage, no one would be able to tell. And Pari's butt just managed to not peak out the bottom. If he bent over, anyone behind him would be getting an interesting view.

The stop had the sleeves taken off and the zipper modified so that it zipped from both ends. The top zipper came down to just start hinting at the cleavage his fake breasts made. It stayed zipped until just under the breast, revealing the long, slim line of his belly. The ends of the jacket hung down a little past the skin tight hot pants. Fishnet stockings and knee high, steel toed 'ass kicking boots' as Pari liked to call them finished off the clothes.

His hair was half up, twisted into a complex and colorful knot on the back of his head. The rest was loose down his back. And thanks to his fae heritage and some impressive makeup skills, Pari looked every inch a girl. One would have to look very close to notice the few tell tale signs of his actual gender.

Vaughan had better like it. It had taken hours for the vain little Pixie to get ready. Though it had helped keep him from getting over nervous. But now he had nothing to do to distract him. Just watch Jace have a small panic attack in the middle of the room.

Jumping to his feet, the short pixie began to pace as well, now fiddling with his zipper, zipping down far enough to reveal the padded a-cup bra he wore under the shirt. He owned several in a variety of colors. He found they mimicked breasts best, as he didn't need much. And then the zipper would slid back up to about his collarbone before starting its trek back down.

"How are we supposed to pull this off? We don't have a singer...." It was insane. The plan was not going to work. The fans were going to hate them and..and...why wasn't Vaughan just magically waltzing into the room to save the day? That was how these things should work!

Delilah was in her apartment her phone to her ear trying to get ting in touch with Frazier. She assumed he was going to be going to the IF concert. He was the one that pointed them out to her after all. He should go with her right? The band was like their thing! However, he must have though differently cause the phone just rang and rang, and continued to ring. Maybe she'd catch him there, he'd probably have some of his Fairy Dust on him. She could only hope, that was one thing that cured this weird psychic thing she was getting use to, or at least put it on the back burner.

Ever since she had been changed, the dormant little snake of psychic power in her brain had grown full force. She could move things around, she could get into people's heads, even "brainwash" them sometimes. Control them. The scariest thing for her was when she fed she saw people's past...every moment rushing by into her brain she started to learn to focus on specific information if she wanted something from them, and she could see the memory in full fledged detail. It came in handy for credit card accounts, security codes, a lot of different things. The whole situation really scared her though, despite how handy the powers were.

She was a very young vampire though, her powers had a tendency to go out of control with her blood lust sometimes. Her 'sire' though she preferred to call him 'donor' hadn't stuck around very long to teach her anything. Just made and disappeared at his next conquest. It had left her very needy and clingy to men especially. Which was why she was picking up the phone and calling Frazier...again.

He STILL wasn't picking up though. Damn him! She sighed maybe she could try some of her other friends. They were already out though. She winced to herself as she sat on the couch in her apartment. She stood out in stark contrast to the black of the room. She was dressed in all sorts of bright colors and raver clothes. Her hair done up in two buns with flashing glowing lights going around them. She was all dolled up and no one to see it.

Not yet anyway, she would go by herself! Maybe Frazier was there already anyway...that's why he wasn't picking up! And anyway she could always find a boy to drag along with her on the way. They could be her new friend... and an after concert snack.
