A bonding moment

Nika moved through the hallway slowly, candidates moving around him and he hugged the wall, wanting to avoid contact with them. But at the same time, watching them interact was interesting. Trying to figure out the dynamics between them. All helpful for later interactions.

Holding his books to his chest, he moved around a doorway, then froze, staring at a dark skinned teacher. She had an eyepatch. Just like him. He stayed still, watching her intently, debating how he wanted to approach the situation.

"Mm?" Keziah stopped short, just in time to avoid running into a candidate, and recognized him immediately. Not because she'd ever interacted with him before, but because the eye patch tipped her off. That must be Nika, the candidate Pilot Sulos had disfigured--a bloody shame, and all for no reason.

Smiling at him, she raised an eyebrow curiously. He was staring at her intently, motionless. A little odd, but oh well. "Yes? Can I help you?"

"You have an eyepatch." Nika stared up at the woman, studying her face with an unnerving intensity, "I have an eye patch too."

Keziah's eyebrow lifted higher, single eye blinking. "Yes...? Yes, we do both have eye patches, hon."

Nika nodded, "We are alike." He suddenly smiled, perfect and bright. He had just bonded with someone. Without any help!

"Well...yeah. I guess we are, hmm?" Keziah tilted her head, utterly confused by this exchange. He looked so happy, though, about...whatever it was he was happy about, and she didn't have the heart to ruin the mood.

"I am Nika." He held his hand out to her, "It was good to have this moment with you." He was going to tell Roman and Gabriel and Rachel all about this.

"Oh." Keziah shook hands with the kid and kept on smiling, even though she had no clue what the hell was going on here. Well, she kind of knew; she suspected the poor thing had a disability--and it wouldn't surprise her if the head bashing had caused brain damage.

"It was a pleasure to meet you as well, Nika. Now, I'd better get to my class. Did ya need anything?"
