Physical Description:
Short dark brown hair. Light skin. Simple shirt and dark clothes which is normal for Edani. Leather shoulder pads as light armor. Dark eyes. Carries a sword on his back.Personality Positive: Nato takes pride in his hobbies, and can often times be very social with the people in his town. He's well known for being the local tech man, and is very respected by all. Nato will quickly defend the citizens from any threat that comes around. To the people he knows, he is kind and selfless. However, he won't let himself be turned into a doormat by those who mistake his kindness for weakness. -Fair, Helpful, Empathy, Protective-
Neutral: He has no quarrel with those who simply let things be. Traders or unknown travelers are a rarity that far out in the barrens, but Nato treats all visitors as they behave.
Negative: Nato is the type to hold a grudge against strangers or anyone who makes a habit of crossing him. He hides great inner hatred for the mordecai and bandits, and he is merciless in his treatment of criminals. Abilities Engineering: Has a moderate/high skill for building, fixing, and modifying Edalith technology. Able to build things like simple robots, small laser blasters, magnetic bullet-shields, and other things made from parts and outdated eco-tech.
Sword Fighting (Basic): Through creativity and training, has learned basic knowledge of sword fighting in close combat, not good enough to bring down anyone from a strong military background, but enough to mess up any common raider or criminal. This level of knowledge was common for most people in his town.
Creative Fighter: The frequent fighting against raiders has encouraged Nato to use his magic in combat to his advantage. Using a metal sword or fighting hand to hand allows him to channel lightning, and either fry or stun targets. The combination of magic from a distance and in close range fights allows Nato to take down targets easier and stay alive longer.
Charm: Living in a fair sized settlement has given him many opportunities to practice a silver tongue. He has trouble thinking on his feet for social situations, so it only works once or twice on the same person. Attempting to sweet talk the same person multiple times in the same conversation, or for longer than a moment or two is just asking for trouble.
Merciless Mage: Raider attacks near the settlement force Nato to keep his guard up at most hours of the day. He very rarely uses magic near town, but he unleashes powerful torrents of spellcasting when fighting raiders out of sight of the people. Because of his status as an un-chipped mage, he never leaves raider survivors when forced to resort to magic...
Blaster Proficiency: Nato favors laser blasters over guns because of the lack of waste product like shells and gunpowder. He has trained himself to be more accurate with rapid-fire rifle type blasters, and any rifle or sniper blaster types with a scope.

Edalith: Very positive. Nato adores his home planet and the lifestyle. The people are friendly and caring in the settlement.

Mordecais: Loathe. Magic is a gift, and Nato refuses to be put on a leash or taken away from his current settlement for it to be overrun by bandits or the like. He goes to great lengths to avoid his magic being discovered.

Bandits/Raiders/Criminals: Wishes death. Knowing of the lawlessness of the barren, Nato will actively strike down these hostile types when they approach his home or if he finds them among the lands.
History: Nato was born and grew up for part of his life in a large town, close to the megacities of Edanith. As a child he showed great interest in technology, robots, and computers.
At the age of 12, the population began to expand outward again. An exploration party was launched from the large town where Nato and his parents lived. After three days of searching and traveling, a decent spot was found for forming a new town. Weeks passed as homes, buildings, and a terraform tower were set up at the location. A few weeks after the completion of the new town before a group of lawless bandits approached from the barrens. Most of the people from the expedition party were combat trained, and the bandits were easily killed or fought off. It became obvious after another few attacks that the town would need a militia.
By the time Nato turned 13, the new town had been up for a few months, and basic combat training was taught to nearly all of age who applied. To take his mind off the fighting, Nato spent some nights awake keeping watch for bandits, or watching the rain and lightning from his window.
During 15, Nato started to discover he had the power to move water with his hand whenever he was emotional. He quickly took measures to hide his magic ability from everyone, including his parents. Nato feared that if he was discovered as a mage, he would be chipped, and rarely ever be allowed to use magic again.
Eventually, Nato found an isolated place in town where he could practice his magic during the rain. Water magic quickly became his strong point. After growing more confident with his abilities, Nato moved onto practice with containers of water during the day, which added to the difficulty. Several months passed before Nato was strong enough with water manipulation to put it to use.
At 17... late one night he spotted a small group of raiders sneaking towards the town. Nato passed unnoticed as he ambushed the worthless bandits. By forming a large bubble of water around the bandits, he was able to effectively trap them all... and eventually drown them.
The bodies were found the next morning. Some of the people were confused or shocked about how they perished, but the suspicion quickly faded because of the great disdain everyone had for the loathsome criminals. Nato decided he would use his magic to defend the town. A noble goal but with a dark method. It wasn't long before he noticed a new spark to his magical arsenal... electricity.
This new elemental affinity, combined with Nato's natural enthusiasm for technology, gave him all the power he needed to start fighting back against the bandits and raiders. He signed up for basic combat training under the town militia and took to it quickly. With a sword and gun at his side, Nato was allowed to join and sometimes lead patrol parties to kill any nearby bandit camps or groups.
A few weeks short of turning 18, Nato's parents were called back to the megacities. They were needed there to start forming more exploration parties. The choice was understandable, given their combat strength together, but Nato was still left a bit upset. He chose to take this rage out on whatever unlucky bandits came near the town.
The empty house discomforted Nato. Instead of pursuing meditation or self peace, he focused harder on his magical training. The next rainstorm hit the town rougher than it normally would have. Using his emotions and anger, he whipped the rain into a frenzy of water. It poured down for hours that night, enough that the nearby lake overflowed a bit. Once the lightning started to appear, Nato used his magic and struggled to bend it to his whim. The storm had almost subsided before he finally figured out how to control it.
A redirected column of lightning struck the branch of a tree, severing it off with a loud crack. Redirecting wasn't enough to subside Nato's anger though. He raised his hands at the sky, and after a few tries, called down his own bolt of lightning. It singed the rest of the tree, causing it to snap in half and set ablaze.
Nato celebrated his 18th birthday with the comfort of knowing he had grown stronger. Strong enough to defend his town, his home.
As a few more years passed by, Nato also discovered was able to move the earth, and summon gusts of wind, but these abilities required more focus. The talent didn't come to him as naturally as water and lightning. It was only by chance that Nato found he could use life magic. Another ability that required focus, he was able to fix up minor, and sometimes larger wounds after fights with the raiders and bandits. The people thought he was just that good of a fighter, they were oblivious to the fact that one of their strongest fighters had magic on his side.
Nato's many wins, and high kill rate among anything that threatened the village, quickly established him as one of the town's strongest fighters. In some ways, Nato was proud that he could protect the town so effectively. On the other hand, he knew that the infallible defense and slowly-spreading influence of the terraforming tower would draw the eye of the megacities. With their reach would come the people in charge, and eventually the mordecai, or if he was unlucky, someone with the ability to read his mind and expose his magic.
Each day Nato grew more conflicted, between defending the town and risk his magic being discovered and chipped, or calling the order to establish a new settlement closer to bandit lands and hopefully kill off more of them.
At the age of 22, Nato has still managed to keep his mage status hidden from everyone. He has continued defending his town.
