Ooh. Yikes. Guess even a little peck was seriously unwelcome. He'd have to remember not to go there again.
Another hour of dancing and he had a decent guy on the hook, but he had to find Cyrus first. He couldn't wander away without telling him. His limited freedom depended solely on him willingly cooperating.
So while the guy waited for him, he started a circuit of the club, searching for what he guessed was a very drunk Cyrus.

What a shithole.
Why had he come here? Like, he knew the why, of course, but standing here looking out on this dismal gray landscape he had to wonder if it was worth it. For all the advantages this locale offered, he was wishing he'd had more foresight when picking the place.
Shanthe had the best accommodations in the outpost, which was to say he got the least filthy house in the place. Most of his people were a few miles away at an equally shitty village southward. He'd come here with only two of his prophets and got what passed for a mayor wrapped around his little finger. Now, he just needed the rest of the town.
Right now, the enormous doors of the wall stood open, and through them Shanthe had a fine view of dirty gray hills topped by a dirty gray sky. Whooooo.

"Oh you're in charge, Officer." And he gave Cyrus a quick, obnoxious peck on the cheek before prancing off onto the dance floor again.

Temple squeezed in next to Cyrus and leaned on his shoulder to get close enough to be heard. "Just need to catch my breath."
Cyrus seemed a fair bit looser. "Did you actually manage to relax? How many of those have you had?"

After that, Temple went through a round of way better guys. Nicer guys who danced with him for long stretches before they both moved on to other partners. After an hour and a half straight of dancing, Temple went in search of Cyrus and a place to sit down.

Cyrus looked away, and Temple relaxed. Hopefully they wouldn't have another incident.
A few more minutes of dancing, and the guy tried to drag Temple toward the back. He made it all of two steps before something invisible yanked his feet out from under him and he hit the floor face first. Temple took the opportunity to slip away into the crowd.
The guy got up with a bloody nose, and Temple aimed a wink at Cyrus.
See? He could take care of himself.

Temple could have moved to the other side of the bar, broken Cyrus's line of sight on him, but whatever it was that was going on, he'd rather get it solved than have it pop up again later just as he was about to hook up again.
A huge man in a green dress danced toward Temple. His muscled arms were the size of Temple's thighs, and he looked like he threw boulders around for fun. Temple sidled closer and as soon as he was in arm's reach the guy yanked over right up against him. One of his hands reached around to clamp down on Temple's ass, underneath the skirt, and they danced like that, with this guy clamping Temple right up to his body.
He actually wasn't down with this level of aggression, but he didn't care right then. He'd kept Cyrus in sight the whole time, and now he looked right at him. Not exactly a challenge but unmistakably a message.
If he needed to extricate himself, he could literally crush this asshole into a cube.

Temple made a sound of utmost frustration. At least they weren't having to yell over the music anymore, even if he had to stand on his toes to reach Cyrus's ear. "Again, I don't know what that means! Better than what? Are you going to screen every guy I meet tonight?"

Temple wasn't about to yell this over the music, so he grabbed Cyrus by the shirt and hauled them close together so he could talk directly into his ear.
"Uh, hello, I can read their minds! I'll know if they're trying to murder me or something! So just what the fuck are you doing?"

The two guys disappeared into thin air at those words. Temple watched them flee into the crowd and didn't know if he wanted to be more angry or disappointed.
Angry. Definitely angry. "What the shit does that mean? They were feeling me up, like I wanted them to! At what point did you stop understanding why the hell I'm here?!"

Temple was so close to asking both of these guys if they wanted to disappear in the back together. Their hands were all over him, and he could feel their erections every time they pressed up against him.
So close and then...Cyrus happened.
He didn't even see Cyrus approach, but all of a sudden the warm press of bodies was no longer on him and both guys were backing away.
Temple stared up at Cyrus, glowering there like a big angry grizzly. "W...what..." he sputtered. "What are you doing?"

Aydan rewarded Ari's deference with affection, a condescending graze of his knuckles upon Ari's jaw. "Good, my dear."
He rolled his eyes at the master bit though. "Ugh. Master is so...I don't know, melodramatic. Sir will do just fine."
When the doors to the shuttle opened, Aydan stood to the side and graciously motioned the three of them through into the airlock before him.
