A New Chance (Vedrit!)

Aryte had been thinking about her dilemma for a week now. She couldn't seem to get a hold of Vin. That boy had gone off the grid. Maybe she should just let it go and try and see if there was anything there with Vedrit. She felt like something could easily have been there. She felt chemistry with him, a heat even. She ran her hand through her hair which was actually not braided today. She had needed a repetitive activity to do while she was thinking. One she didn't have to pay attention to. So, she had started installing the patch on her game and taking her hair down.

She had her phone on her desk staring at it. It was set to text Vedrit. She wasn't sure why she was agonizing over it. She really wasn't sure whether she could really have a relationship. She thought she might be bad at it. She sighed and leaned back in her chair her hair falling out behind her as she looked at the ceiling and spun her chair a little with her foot.

She sighed again and grabbed her phone clicking an e-mail into her phone. She was saying she wanted to see him again, to see where things would go. She stared at it for a moment clicking her tongue against her teeth for a second. She wasn't sure how it would go, or how it would feel, but she was feeling brave, well sort of. She was still worried, but she felt she had taken far too few chances lately. So she should try.

She sent the e-mail and waited, leaning back up to look at her computer.

Vedrit, in the dock, was half-way into his ship's engine compartment. During its last trip outside the station, a bolt slipped, flew out of its slot and got jammed in a chain. Luckily for him, the hardware the bolt was supposed to hold had been supported by another bolt, so no serious damage was done. The hard part was tracking down that blasted bolt and fixing the chain. In the 0-g of space, that bolt could have gone anywhere in the compartment before any alert went off.

As Vedrit was digging around, the implant in his head which allowed him access to the net sent off an alert, notifying him of an unread message.
The alert caught Vedrit offguard and thumped his head as he jumped in surprise.

Carefully removing himself from the compartment, slightly covered in various fluids and lubricants, Vedrit rubbed his head as his implant displayed the message.

He smiled, seeing the sender. It had been a while since he and Ary had parted ways. It would be good to see her again, and hopefully find out which direction she would go.

He closed the hatch to the compartment, the bolt still in a chain somewhere. He needed to clean himself up before meeting her. Its not that Vedrit felt Ary couldnt handle seeing a man fresh from work on a ship, quite the opposite infact, but rather didnt like the feeling of it.

Leaving the dock to his apartment, he wrote a reply saying he needed to clean up a bit, but would like to see her again.

Aryte didn't have to wait very long for a reply from him. He sent her an e-mail quickly and she leaned forward and grabbed her phone to read it. She smiled. She'd have to clean up to. She didn't have time to braid her hair again, she'd leave it as is if they were going to meet up later tonight. She sent him back an e-mail asking when he might want to get together.

She ran her hand through her hair and sighed. She hoped this went well. She stood up out of her chair and went into her room to start rooting through some clothes. Aryte didn't really have date clothes. She had tried to get some when Vin and her had been seeing each other. He liked them but he was big on her just as she was. It was nice, but it meant she still didn't have many "date" clothes.

She wasn't even sure what they would do when they spent time together. They'd find something to do she was sure.

Vedrit didnt really think about what to wear. Not only did he not really care how he looked, but figured that Ary was interested in more than just looks.
When Ary's reply came back, he waited a bit before writing a reply; walking and mentally typing didnt work out so well.

When he reached a lift, he replied that any time was good, leaving out that he would make time for her.

Idly walking to his apartment, Vedrit wondered what they would do together. They could go out to eat again, or maybe show off each others spacecraft. If Ary was feeling comfortable enough around him, they could go watch a movie.
