Unidentified Swimming Object [A. Scribe]
« on: July 17, 2008, 04:15:02 am »
He sat by the water's edge upon a a rock covered in some slimy matter. Leaning back on his lower arms, the six limbed man scribbled down notes on a digital notepad. He was writing down random thoughts as he was unemployed at the moment. With a sigh, he placed the pad and pen on the rock next to him. He'd have to put them through detox, but whatever.

Looking out over the ocean, he wondered what it must have been like thousands of years ago before it became so polluted. It must have been beautiful with clear blue waters and colorful creatures. Now is was nothing but toxic sludge that mutated creatures. That was the problem with Earth. People never really thought about what they were doing, or were to ignorant to care until it was too late.

"Computer, open thorax portal" he said, looking out at the water as he thought he heard splashing. The round symbol on his chest opened, revealing a small, hollow area. He placed the pen and pad in their, the symbol closing again. Standing, tyr waded out into the water, looking at small ocean life that floated on the water's surface.

Scooping up some water with his lower hands, he looked at the small creatures swimming around, as if playing a game with each other. He smiled slightly, the expression hidden by his helmet. Suddenly, one of the small creatures ate another, leaving a small pull of blood in the water. Tyr dropped the sticky liquid, the creatures and blood with it. That was mortifying.

For a long while, longer then any stretch of time he had ever imagined before, the creature could only remain still. His body was used to the crushing pressure at the bottom of the ocean, and so at first, being so close to the surface was debilitating. As the days drifted by in a hungry blur, the young sea creature found he could begin to move, and then swim, and then search. Still, his school was nowhere to be found, and he was a creature that could not survive well alone on the open sea. Survival instinct kicked in and he had traveled to where the predator would be smaller and less frequent; the coast.

He masked his loneliness -when he could- in the limitless curiosities of this new place. There were new creatures to watch, new things to eat, new types of plants, new everything. Still, if he wasn't careful, the loneliness would creep back up on him; the coast may have been very interesting, but he was still all alone.

He broke the surface of the water with a slight gasp, the gills on his neck sealing shut as his breathing type switched to that of a mammal. He skimmed along the surface for a while, his transparent spiky fins carving easily through the water. He moved somewhat listlessly, huge solid yellow eyes drinking in the scene which was slowly becoming familiar. Suddenly, something new caught his attention. It was a creature unlike any he had ever seen before, and what was more, it was shiny. Like any of his kind, the young sea creature simply adored shiny things.

The tip of the single antenna that poked out from his snowy white hair perked, the tip lighting up like a pale yellow star. He smiled, a flash of sharp needle-like teeth, his tail kicking hard against the water sending him sailing smoothly toward the odd metal creature. He was a little to young for caution, apparently. Not knowing any of the language 'Common' he couldn't shout a greeting or a warning, but in a greeting that was normal for his kind the little light on the tip of his antenna began to flash. His face was glowing with curiosity, although he slowed his pace as he began to come close to the metal creature. He didn't want to scare- Oh look it has legs!

Previous caution forgotten, he surged forward with an excited grin, dipping and curving through the water about, around and between the metal legs that were submerged below the water. He tapped them with the points of his sharp purple claws, delighting in the wonderful clicking sound.

[[Lmao, gotta love the shiny things, eh? xD]]

He was about to leave the water when a much closer splashing sound caught his attention. He turned, seeing a large shape heading towards him. Tyr stood frozen, pretending to be a rock. Maybe if it thought he wasn't edible, maybe it wouldn't try to eat him. However, it didn't seem interested in eating him.

Instead, the rather fishy looking creature swam between his legs, tapping on the outter shell. "Well aren't you a playful thing" he laughed, twisting so he could watch it. It much like a person who had their legs cut off and stuck onto a large fish tail, but with much more sea details. It also seemed to like shiny things that made high pitched thuds.

Taking a step back, Tyr forgot just how heavy the metal suit was and over balanced. He fell backwards, ending up in a sitting position in the gross water with a large splash. He was silent for a moment before laughing at how stupid he must look. Good thing nobody he knew was around. Lifting up his upper set of arms, he flicked the water off of himself. "I'm such a clumsy thing" he said, removing the tint from his face shield. Now his face was visible, and he could things more brightly.

Looking in the water for the fish person, he said "Hmm, I wonder where it went. It looked interesting." He was tempted to deactivate his suit, but then he'd surely get sick from the toxic water. Oh well. Leaning forward, Tyr attempted to stand again, but found it hard to stand with a metal suit and water weighing him down.

"Looks like I'm waiting for the tide to go out" he sighed, crossing his upper pair of arms over his chest as he leaned on his lower pair.

((LOL XD who doesn't love shiny things?))

Whatever the odd metal creature was, it didn't seem to threated by the sudden curious assault. This pleased the young angler creature, so he continued to swim about those odd metal legs, seeing what sounds he could create depending on where and how hard he tapped with the points of his claws. A bright bubbly joy swelled in his chest; the creature seemed to be making some kind of sound! Was it trying to communicate? The merboy turned his fins, changing his momentum until he came to a slow graceful stop. At just that moment, the heavy metal creature tumbled backwards, right into the water.

The sea creature yelped sharply, managing to avoid being crushed but his back tail fin was pinched uncomfortably. Within an instant he was a few feet away, holding the tip of his back fin and stroking it, an unsure expression on his face. His antenna drooped, the tip falling between his eyes and becoming dim. Though, it seemed like the odd metal creature didn't mean to hurt him...

And suddenly, its face seemed to change. There was something visible behind the smooth expanse of the helmet, and this perked the sea creature's curiosity. Slowly this time he drifted towards the creature in the metal suit, wide yellow eyes fixed with bright curiosity on Tyr's face. A look of understanding dawned in his eyes; it was not a metal creature, it was a creature inside a metal case!

The merboy stopped just short of Tyr's legs, and began to circle him, looking from all angles. Ocationally he would stop to poke something with the pointed tips of his purple claws, all the while his elfish pointed ears twitching and listening. Coming to a stop in front of Tyr, the boy wore a faintly sheepish smile. The glowing tip of his antenna blinked on and off in greeting. He peered at Tyr's face behind the cover of the helmet, and began to wonder how the interesting creature managed to get inside his metal case. A look of genuine concern crossed his face; oh no, he wasn't stuck was he?

Still looking concerned for Tyr, the merboy grabbed hold of Tyr's shoulders and hauled himself closer, his long fingered hands skimming the metal suit. Cupped the helmet, the neck, the shoulders, before a soft concerned whine sounded from his throat. The sound was not far from that a dolphin might make.

[[Aww! He's so cute!]]

Tyr grinned as the fish boy returned, swimming around him again. He (or at least Tyr thought it was a he) seemed like a curious little fish. He admired how the boy's scales glinted in the light, how he swam gracefully. Ahh, if only he were a fish! Well, not a fish. The boy may have eaten him if he were a fish.

Now that he looked closer, the boy had one of the antenna things, just like an angler fish. "Well waddya know, he's an angler fish person!" Tyr said, chuckling at how silly he sounded saying such an obvious thing. "But wouldn't he be deep under water? What's he doing here?" he asked himself, having a curious tone of voice.

Seeing him stop and grin, Tyr guessed that they had some things in common. They both made facial expression as some part of their communication. Seeing the antenna blink, Tyr tilted his head slightly. He didn't understand what the blinking meant.

Instinctively leaning back as the fish boy brought himself closer, Tyr wondered what he was doing. He sounded concerned, or so Tyr thought from the sound he made. "O-oh, I'm OK. I didn't hurt myself" he said, tapping one of his fists to his hip to make a tapping sound. Maybe if he got to shore, the sand would be at a lower toxic level and it'd be OK to expose himself for a while... Yeah! This would be the perfect time to test those so called 'temporary toxic immunity' shots he had bought. Of course, they were illegal because of some potetionally harming side effects, but what the hell.

"Computer, inhance limb strength by 200%" he said, the suit giving a small beep. He began to haul himself out the water, up onto the sand. Whether the boy let go or not didn't bother him too much. After all, Tyr was still curious about him. Once far enough from the water, he allowed himself to drop onto his back with a sigh. "Comence outter shell cleaning" he muttered. The computer beeped twice before steam seeped from small holes, cleaning off the gunk from itself.

"Computer, inject liquid 157 please. 50ml. Injection sight: upper right bicep" he commanded. Again another beep before Tyr felt the needle head pierce his skin. "Comencing injection, standby" an electronic voice said. Tyr relaxed his arm before the liquid was injected into his system. A groan of pain left his throat, the sensation painful beyond belief. A few moments later and it stopped, the needle head pulling out. A small bit of the liquid seeped from the wound, but nothing more did. "Deactivate" was the last thing he said. The suit began to release him from itself, folding into a small block.

Sitting up, Tyr took in a breath. He coughed, the stench awful. At least he wasn't choking to death. Eyes narrowed as the sun blared in his orange eyes. A pair of hands reached up and pulled the goggles the orange, bloodshot orbs.

He had been so immersed in trying to figure out if the creature in side was trapped or not, the merboy hardly noticed anything until Try actually moved. Impulsively his arms locked around the metal shoulders of the suit, wide yellow eyes watching with glowing curiosity as the pair of them left the water, and began to trudge towards the shore. The merboy watched the upcoming land with a sense of wonder; he'd never even seen land so close, let alone touched it!

The steam was a shock though; the hissing seemed like something beastly, and it was hotter then anything he'd ever felt before. He let go quite suddenly and tumbled to the ground, folding his tail under him and wrapping his arms around his chest. His skin was shiny and very slightly pink in the places the steam had touched, and he wore an expression of confusion and pain. Why had the metal creature attacked him? Had he done something wrong? The spiny fins that lined the side of his tail wilted, along with the tips of his ears. He began to shuffle backwards along the rough damp sand, glancing guiltily up at the metal creature.

Whatever it was, it seemed to have made it out of its... shell. The angler creature looked at Tyr, battling between curiosity and caution.

Tyr took a moment to adjust to the light, his eyes still sensitive to it. When he was sure he could see without blinking every 3 seconds, he looked about him. Well, things certainly felt different than he had expected. The sand was kind of crumbly with bits of slime here and there. The sun wasn't hot, but it did make things warmer. And the air... It stunk like... really gross things he didn't want to think about.

Looking at the sea creature, Tyr frowned. Why... did it look sad? With a closer look, Tyr saw the very faint pink places on the creature's body. Did he do that? His eyebrows raised, having a very guilty look on his face. "Ach, no! I'm s-sorry" he stuttered, trying to stand. But of course, being on sand, he over balanced, landing face-first into it.

When he hauled himself from it, he shook his head. "Crap" he muttered, running his hands furiously through his hair, removing the odd colored sand from it. Looking back up at the retreating creature, Tyr said "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to hurt you" his upper right arm rubbing his lower left.

The young sea creature recognized guilt on Tyr's face quite clearly. Carefully unwrapping his arms, he regarded Tyr with a look of caution, right until he tumbled face first into the sand. A small sliver of a smile slipped across his lips, showing the faintest flash of his oddly white needle-like teeth. Aw, the creature seemed quite clumsy to him, almost like a newborn. It wasn't the size of a newborn though, that was for sure.

Still regarding Tyr with a slightly unsure expression, the boy reached forward and grabbed a twisted, blackened set of roots and hauled himself a little closer. The scales of his tails were rough, somewhat sharp at the edges, as if he was used to moving against rough surfaces. Huge yellow eyes darted over four different arms, when he suddenly noticed Tyr's tail. Without a hint of hesitation he reached for it, the action startling fast. Winding his thin long fingers around, he pulled the tail a little closer, although not far enough to hurt Tyr, and examined it. He seemed completely fascinated, gently poking at the tuffed tip with the points of his long claw-like nails.

He wondered what such a creature could need quite so many limbs for, and wished there was someway he could ask. Suddenly, his free hand darted forward, right for Tyr's head. It retreated just as quick as it came, but the young sea creature opened his palm and showed a small black spindly crab that had been clinging to Tyr's hair since he fell. He smiled, a slightly playful expression and he let the little crab scuttle about his own palm.

((OOC: sorry about the slowness, my computer has been busted so I havn't been able to get on as much as I like >_< ))

Tyr flinched as the creature went for his tail. That was a sensitive spot. It was like the human male's crotch. Tyr didn't know why humans had organs there. His sexual organs were in his tail. However, the merboy didn't seem to want to hurt him, so Tyr relaxed. Giving a small laugh, Tyr moved the tip of his tail so that it was waving. Not many people were interested in his tail so much as his limbs. It made him almost sad really.

He blinked as the merboy's hand darted for his head only to retreat again. Leaning closer, he grinned at the sight of the crab. It was kind of cute looking... Kind of. Leaning back slightly, Tyr thought for a moment. Well, first of, he'd introduce himself. It was only polite.

Coughing slightly, Tyr pointed to himself. "My name's Tyr" he said. He wasn't quite sure if the merboy understood, so he did it again. "Tyr" he said, dragging out the name as he tapped on his chest. He then pointed to the merboy and made a curious face. He wanted to know the boy's name.

[[Bleh, sorry for the crappy post]]
