Aedolis is not a good place for psychics

Setrul sighed, “Nope, nope, no, no, nada, nope, no, nooo.”

     Where were those Lanaerians?

A couple of months ago if someone had told him he and Farica would be travelling around all the dangerous nations with the true heir to throne of Lanaes looking for Lanaerians who were basically people with blue or purple hair, he would have said they were lying. Yet here he was, the ship parked on the outskirts of Haviah, scanning through all the CCTV footage from the city for the last few months searching for a family of Lanaerians.

Normally the duo…now trio would use much more advanced means of finding people. Farica was an expert hacker and a psychic but being a non-military psychic in Aedolis was not a pleasant experience.

He glanced across at her. She was a wreck, she looked ill and there were bags under her eyes. All she had been able to hear since they got here was interference from the pilots, candidates and dragons in Haviah, she couldn’t sleep and could barely even hear herself think.

As soon as the Lanaerian Princess, Forever realised how the awful place was affecting Farica she insisted they leave. Farica was too stubborn for that though and refused. They had to constantly keep an eye on her to make sure she didn’t do something silly…like kill herself. And for all they knew the pilots might have picked up on her presence on the border and be trying to influence her.

Setrul paused when he spotted someone with purple hair; a weird looking girl with triangles on her cheeks. She had elf ears though so she wasn’t who they were looking for.

Searching through all the footage was a slow and thankless job. And for all they knew the family might not be there still. He flicked through a few more shots until he spotted something.

It was a man with short purple hair dressed in casual clothes. Setrul zoomed the picture in and was happy to see the man had purple eyes as well. Otherwise he looked human, he must be a Lanaerian.

With the basic hacking skills Farica had taught him he brought up the man’s profile.

     “Alei Ocaria,” Setrul read.

Forever looked up, “Ocaria? Yeah that’s them.”

Setrul scrolled down the family history, “He’s the son, his parents are dead though.”

Forever looked a little disappointed but then said, “Well one is better than none. At least it shouldn’t be too long before we get off this planet then.”

The sooner they left earth the better, for Farica’s sake. However their next destination was Edanith where Forever would be in danger because she was a mage. Hopefully she wouldn’t be robbed of her wits though like Farica had been.

He then noticed something on the profile, a familiar symbol.

     “Uh-oh.”

     “’Uh-Oh’ what?” Forever replied.

     “Alei Ocaria…Pilot Cardinal.”

That was not good, he was Lanaerian but if they tried to even get near him, chances were he’d turn Farica in and kill Setrul and Forever. He was already a pilot so likely to be an emotionless slave to Aedolis.

“I’ve never heard of a psychic Lanaerian before,” Forever said frowning.

Then there was a noise outside.

     “What was that?”

Setrul stood up, “I’ll go check. You keep an eye on Farica.”

The blonde was shaking now as well, she obviously sensed something outside. She was too out of it to even register that Setrul and Forever were there though.

He sighed and started down the ramp heading outside.
