UGH, FINALLY!

Jenny tossed her somewhat sentient hair over her shoulder, currently mocking blonde pigtails as she left her condo and stepped out, by herself, onto the fresh streets of Samariel.

The humidity was thick, hanging in the air along with the refreshingly chill sprinkles of rain that lightly tapped your face like the soft dancing of a fairy's feet--or some bullshit like that, she didn't know.

It was so rare that she got to go home, that she got to enjoy some time to her fuckin' self--sometimes she really hated being an idol. Like, she liked the attention and all that but. Sometimes she just wanted to be alone, you know? And in Samariel she got just that--alone time. The citizens of this rainy water city were far less concerned with idols than most others; they preferred Pilots to singing floozies. That wasn't to say she had no fans here, she still had to disguise herself as an unassuming young blonde with her same golden amber goat eyes to avoid any fiascos. Her PR agents would have her gooey head on a platter if she didn't behave herself so well in public.

She took her time just walking down the streets, twirling her clear vinyl umbrella with a print of cherry blossoms on the edge. Her short periwinkle overall skirt barely covered her ass and her shirt was so filled out by her chest it was almost a crop top. The looks of disdain from the strangers passing by went right over her head as she ignored them and continued on her way looking cute AF--they just couldn't appreciate her fine taste.

Most of the shops were still the same; convenient stores, tiny locally owned grocer's markets, fish stalls. So many fish stalls. And fish stores, if you'd rather not eat the scaley water friends. Or whatever bullshit people told themselves to sleep at night, she didn't know.

She popped a fried octopus ball in her mouth, chewing idly away as she tossed the empty cup into the recycling bin on the street corner and waited to cross. Yeah, she might as well go check out her favorite stores, see what kinds of new cute clothing they got in. That was always her favorite thing to do on her first day off--a day to herself, just looking at fashion and wHAAAAAT?

She had practically skipped her way through the streets and sidestreets, ducking under and around the gently pattering waterfalls from levels above only to find that her favorite store for cute, sweet, innocent pastel clothing was.... GONE!? CLOSED?!

"Are you kidding me!?" She kicked a loose piece of gravel into a puddle and pulled angrily on the ends of her own pigtails. "But they had the cutest stuff!!! HOW ARE THEY CLOSED. WHY. WHY THIS. LITERALLY WHY THIS WHY I CAN'T EVEN. I CAN'T EVEN RIGHT NOW."

She huffed and went over, plopping down onto the nearby bench outside of the storefront now covered in "NOW LEASING" signs, putting her head in her hands to huff and puff and pout some more, umbrella leaning on her shoulder. She didn't even care that the bench was wet and she was only wearing a thong. No, her whole day was RUINED.

The street was mostly vacant--which was why there weren't many shops in this neighborhood anymore, just wasn't practical, really--so when she saw some movement out of the corner of her eye she blinked and looked. Some dude was standing at the end of the block on the corner, looking, and looking, and... Taking really slow steps. And looking some more.

Motherfucker was lost wasn't he?

"Pffft," She started snickering to herself as she watched him idly, spinning her umbrella back and forth. "He is so lost. What a loser."

Yep, as much of a loser as she was for talking to herself.

She blinked and frowned though, narrowing her eyes as she noticed that hey, that was no ordinary dude. That was definitely another species she had never seen before--and like that she went from apathy to cat-killing curiosity in the space of a millisecond.

Suddenly she stood up, the biggest (and perhaps most mischievous) smile on her face as she started to prance after him, catching up quickly.

"Hey, sir!"

And when she caught his attention and he turned around, she recognized his face and started beaming. Oh this wasn't any regular dude--this was one of the new Pilots. It'd been all over the news: a Pilot Royal demoted to Noble status who joined the Samariel Leviathans, Danny... Dan.... Dammit... Danmir. Or something. Ooh, and the tv did him no justice--he was hot. Even though he was a stupid brainwashed fuckin Pilot.

"Sorry, I'm not trying to bother you but you looked a little lost! Did you need some directions?"

She smiled as sweet as pie as she innocently twirled her umbrella and crossed her foot behind her other ankle, her clear glitter jelly shoes shining with the raindrops.

Suffering this kind of humiliation was unheard of to anyone in his generation. If a normal human had the blessing of living as long as he did, they'd be buried with their full honors and kept their rank - all as hard won as his was. Danmir Alesku didn't have the blessing of aged death to call upon at a time like this. He didn't know how long he would live. but it would sure as shit be without honors, without recognition for all the work he'd ever done, and the value of the role he'd been groomed since Candidacy to fill.

Danmir was never one to shy away from reality. And the facts of life as they came to be. He'd been demoted, and his role in the ministry had been redirected where his abilities "would have far better purpose." And that's what led him to Samariel. To his half-furnished apartment which was well designed as far as furnished living situations go.

But being far from Haviah made him feel homesick, and even with this rainy humid city, he could do very well to have a stiff drink to make him forget his misery. He couldn't even find his way around this fucking city without getting lost. And there wasn't a place he could step around to without a huge holographic banner plastering his face across a building or entire wall and having people whisper and point at him and ask for his autograph that he quickly rebuffed.

It was needless to say Danmir was not happy. Pilot Noble, now apart of a squadron - the Leviathans no less, not that there was anything inherently wrong with them, they were fine Pilots - but he didn't belong in a squad. Regardless of how he felt, what was done was done. And he would do his duty until the end.

It was too bad he couldn't find his way back to his apartment. And probably wouldn't for some time.

He frowned and stared at his com. Until a voice interrupted his meditation.

His frown only deepened, and the look of sheer disinterest only made his heart hammer in his chest. "Hm," he mused temporarily. "No, thank you. Good bye."  And walked slowly away from her.  He didn't need help. He could find his way home on his own. Too bad home was more than 9 hours away by Rail.
