It Was Worth It [Solo]
« on: March 30, 2018, 09:53:22 pm »
Sometimes all Nallathrien wanted to do was crawl under the covers and cry. He was tired. His back hurt. His feet hurt. His face hurt. HIs scalp hurt. Levi was a pully pinchy little baby. His tiny baby fists grabbing and tugging on everything within reach and most of the time that was Nall's hair or face. Nall looked over the side of the tub to the tiny baby sleeping soundly in the little portable bed. It was a rare day that Nall got to lounge around in a bath. Sure his knees poked out of the water but it was soothing. Bubbles coated his skin and he just... Leaned against the side of the tub, head propped on his arms and just gazed, feeling full of love to bursting.

The sound of a fitful cry made Nall jerk awake. His arms and chest were cold and he looked around confused and dazed, eyes sleepy. Fuck. Still in the bathtub. He'd passed right the fuck out. The water was cold and he was uncomfortable as he looked down at the crying baby. The sound piercing. The wail of being hungry or... Needing a change or... Nall still couldn't tell. Tiredly, Nall pressed at his face and sighed. Crawling out of the tub, Nall pulled his discarded pajama bottoms on his wet legs and quickly pulled the plug on the tub before he turned to scoop up tiny Levi and cradle him in his arms.

"Hey, Levi, hey, Baby, " Nall said, voice soft and doing his best to be soothing. Did he succeed? He didn't know.  Levi just wailed. Fat tears running down the baby's cheeks and he cried so hard Nall was worried he'd pop some blood vessels. Nall nudged the sleeping-basket-thing out of the bathroom with his foot while he rubbed Levi's back and made soothing noises. Nall was still over tired, nudging the basket the whole way to the modest living room. Messy. Clothing on the couch and floor.  Baby still wailing, Nall did the checks for all comfort and there was nothing amiss. Nothing was wrong. "Why are you crying?" Nall whined, swaying side to side and bouncing gently, eyebrows drawing together. Nall glanced at the clock blinking on the microwave and whined when it flashed at 3. Three am. Fuck his life. Finally after a few more minutes of swaying he got himself comfy on the couch, Levi snuggled down on his chest and the baby just... Kept crying.

"go back to sleep, Baby," Nall pleaded, voice soft, stroking his finger along the chubby dark cheek. More cooing and gentle noise and more crying. A little more quiet but... Another glance at the clock. Almost four.  Nall closed his eyes and tried to will away the tears of frustration. Had he remembered the vitamins and supplements? He'd seen a doctor once. A human doctor who didn't know anything about what he was. Suggested ... All sorts of stuff. Nall's newest Moment To Himself Ritual was popping all sorts of vitamins and suppliments and trying to eat a decent meal and then... Blissful quiet. Sort of.

The soft sounds of Levi having a snack distracted him from his thoughts and Nall's warm hand smoothed down the babies back, feeling the tiny hearts beat. Nall had only been a Bibi for a few months now. He hadn't found his groove yet. Hadn't found the perfect rhythm to juggle. Nights like tonight were where he lost his footing on what little edge there was and he could crumple down and sob or... Nall pressed a kiss to Levi's head and got comfortable. Wishing that he'd turned the lamp off before he laid down. Of course, that was a short lived wish. Nall and Levi fell asleep almost instantly.

"You can't catch meee!" Levi squealed, running naked down the hallway to his bedroom, quickly followed by a large Phaeton starelf. Nallathrien. Towel held open in his arms ready to catch the slippery little bathtub deserter. "I absolutely can catch you and I will!" Nall said, voice accented by the grin on his face. He didn't care that there were wet footprints on the floor or that Levi was currently rolling around on his bed, giggling wildly before he stood up and grinned brightly to his Bibi standing in the doorway to his room.

"Bibi! Catch me, catch me!" and with no warning, a tiny horizon child bullet jumped into Nall's arms to be bundled up in the towel. Luckily, this wasn't the first time Levi decided to test his Bibi's reflexes. With Levi bundled up in Nall's arms, he looked down at his tiny horizon child. Bright orange eyes to bright blue. A kiss on the forehead and Nall just cradled him. Remembering the hardest most rewarding years of his life. The same tiny creature cuddled up to his chest. He'd made this. This tiny person. Nall swallowed thickly before he regained his composure.

"You know I love you, right Levi?"

Levi reached up to pluck a chunk of bright orange hair and play with it while his Bibi talked. "Yeah," he said, voice bright, looking up.

"Forever and ever?"

"Yeah."

"No matter what?"

"Yeah."

Nall grinned and gently placed Levi down on his bed so he was standing on it, arranging the towel like a cloak. "Good!" Nall said before he started to walk backwards out of the room, "Because I bet you can't catch me!" and Nall rushed down the hall, grinning widely at the thump of tiny feet jumping off the bed and the wild giggle that pursued him down the hall to the living room.
