Magic/Abilities
Just enough telepathy to be allowed to apply for candidacy.

His other 'psionic gifts' fall under categories Aedolis takes little notice or consideration of. The more 'mystic psionic arts' are both common and of great cultural significance to all races or the Jxrigaan, however the Sasahtyrn Jxrigaan are particularly gifted in speaking with the dead. Most Aedolians believe this to be hocus pocus or fall more in the realm of magic than psionics, along with divination versus precognition. Though scientifically the abilities steam more from a psionic source than magical.

K doesn't talk about those less 'practical' gifts much but the cultural significance is obvious in the little things he does and superstitions and rituals he follows. Hey, they have served him well so far.

Relationships
Both parents are / were regular military. His mother is medcorps and a war hero, his father died in the war, defending one of Aedolis' space stations and was awarded posthumous medals for honor and bravery.

Dragon
K belongs to a dark blue and black genderless Dragon named Cyrano. He and Cyrano work together in perfect sync and get along great both in work and play. Cyrano prefers to be called by name as apposed to having pronouns used.

History
There is a reason K is a pretty universally loved Pilot, and a lot of it has to do with him being used as a poster boy for the Aedolian dream.

Kallixtus is second generation Aedolian, his grandparents coming from one of the moons of Jxriga called Sasahtyrn, they came to Aedolis and made a home for themselves, and start a families, hoping their children would have all they could want. K's parents both joined the regular military, not having enough in the way of psychic gifts to be drafted into the candidate program, but they worked hard and his mother even became a military doctor who saved lives during the war.

And now here he was, with just enough telepathy to qualify for candidacy he signed up for the program, worked hard and excelled, joining the Copperheads almost immediately upon graduating and eventually becoming their first commander to not be born upper class. Instead K serves as a reminder that with determination and dedication to the great nation of Aedolis you can accomplish great things.

Of course PR wise it doesn't hurt that he looks obviously alien and has a charismatic but humble personality while still exuding the confidence of his station.
