PersonalityPersonality: Kaelan is cold and calculative, he knows how to rattle people's cages and will pick up on a Achilles Heel in a person very quickly. He has a sharp intuition and is not afraid to bluntly and rudely dispel someone's beliefs about life, God or the world. While most consider him cold and uncaring, which he generally is, he has a softer side once the ten foot layer of ice is broken. He is loyal to a fault to those who earn his trust, which in and of itself is a major challenge, and respects those who have earned high rank and power by hard work and sacrifice. He has a distinct dislike for those who would use power they have gained for their own personal use and has no tolerance whatsoever for people lording over him. He is considered something of a loose cannon because of his tendency to act on what he feels instead of using hard logic, but so far his gut feelings have not let him down. He revels in a challenge and will try his utmost to succeed in any task, be it a mundane errand or a major, life changing moment.
Magic/AbilitiesTelepathy- Kaelan's telepathy is an average strength; not too weak, not uniquely high. Due to his disabilities, he uses his telepathy as his main method of speech and hearing, though he can read lips and use sign language as well.
Telecognition- The ability that makes Kaelan so special, and such an asset to the Pilots program, Telecognition shows Kaelan events that are happening elsewhere at that exact moment. This abilities varies a great deal, and the type of event he will witness is never the same twice. This ability is
not under his control (yet) and he can be struck with a vision any time, any place. The visions generally leave him discombobulated and slightly confused, as well as somewhat nauseous.
RelationshipsHistoryBorn on Libra station, two minutes and thirteen seconds after his twin brother, Erasmus, Kaelan's heritage is solely Edani, despite the many years of his childhood spent traversing the unknown galaxies alongside his parents. So far as the lives of explorers go, Kaelan's was pretty normal up until the exact hour of midnight on his fifteenth birthday.
From a young age he had been sensitive to the emotions and thoughts of those around him, but never to the point where anybody suspected he might be a phycic. However, on that day, at the exact hour of midnight, he was struck by what was assumed as simply a terrible nightmare, brought on by some of the horrors exploring space can reveal. Then, a few days later, when finally returning to Edanith, the family learned that the terrible thing Kaelan had dreamed had happened, five days ago, at the exact hour of midnight.
Brought to believe their son was a phycic, the Devalian family fled Edanith before anyone else learned of his "gifts". Traversing the stars for two more years, in which Kaelan was frequently plagued by nightmares and dreams, before making the mistake of landing at Cancer Station, to refuel.
While docked there, the Devalian's were caught in the middle of a raid by one of Cancer's many mafia groups on a cargo carrier. Caught in the first massive explosion that served as the group's diversion, they had little chance.
Kaelan remembers little of the incident himself, the massive trauma stealing his hearing and voice alongside his memory of it. Left with emotional scars alongside the physical wounds, and with his family assumed dead by the populace, he eventually made his way to Aedolis. It wasn't long after that that his telecognition ability was picked up on by a Pilot Cardinal, his drafting into the program occurring shortly after. WIP
