Wanderings (open)

Ember had to admit that she was running low on funds. While she had enough to keep her self fed and clothed at least for a while, but clearly she had to reach out to the locals and hope some one would take pity of sorts on her. Not that Ember was pleased by the idea at all. But, there was times when you had to swallow your pride and cast yourself into the tides of fate. Which was more poetic than she was actually feeling at this point. To that end she decided to well.. stroll down the street.

Not something that was productive as a  general rule. But, she had done it before and came across something that had turned out to be beneficial to her in the end, if not well at least she was giving herself something to do. On the other hand if she ran into trouble, well then it would give her something to do as well. Ember was also using the time to feel out the locals or travelers. The feeling on the streets was also a good measure of what was going on in the area, a person couldn't always trust the local news after all.

The weather was not on her side, and the wet in the air seemed to reflect her mood. Even if she did enjoy the ran it did make most of the sensible populous to seek shelter, even if it was more of a mist than an actual down pour. Although the sky threatened to make good on that threat. Well, there was no help for it. She slowed down to take a look at a display of goods for sale, for a moment loosing herself in the goods for sell and shifting her attention from what was around her.

It was a bit of a rainy day as a strange looking creature made his way down the street. His fur kept his skin from getting wet. And of course the heavy armor help as well. He was watching the locals as he moved through the most rain that was coming down. This pitiful planet was just full of surprises. He sniffed the air. He could smell food of some sort. Well that would be good at this point.

So the monster known as cryotech move towards the smell of food. As he walked his sensitive ears heard them whispering about him. He did not care though. He just wanted food. As he kept moving he almost ran in to a couple of young humans who were talking to each other. Stupid lesser lifefourms.

He then stopped for a second as the rain was starting to come down harder. That made him lose the smell that he was following. He growled to himself as he wondered where he should go.  He was now thinking that he would  find someplace that he would go and get dry. Then he would go back on the hunt for food.

Ember for the most part was in her own world, and thus wasn't likely to notice any one watching the crowds, unless they began to randomly shoot people or the like. Even strange furry citizens at least not at first. She had seen enough of other races for them not to stand out too much. After all she was hardly from some back water out post or the like.

However, after a while she could not shake the vague feeling she was being watched. She did not however, have any idea who might be doing it or why. She did managed to keep her wits about her and kept looking at the display that seemed to have caught her attention. Out of the corner of her eye she was watching for any strange movements that might seem out of the ordinary.

The last thing she wanted to do if something was following her would be to tip them off that she was aware of their presence. If she was being watched close enough the observer might notice she was shifting her weight slightly as if she suspected she might run into trouble shortly and faster motion would be required.

Cryotech growled as he looked ahead of himself. His attention was drawn to a young woman who was looking at some sort of goods that some shop keeper had. As he moved closer her sent filled his nose. Hum she smelled nice that was for sure. Though it might be noted. That he really was not intent on eating her. He just watched wondering if she knew he was doing this.

That's when he saw her small subtle movements. She was ready for his next move it seemed. He growled and walked closer. When he was but a couple feet from her he stopped flinking his snake like going out to taste the air between them.

" Hello human." He growled. He was now letting her know that he was addressing her with those words.

Ember, who for her own part was fairly unaware generally speaking of the situation besides the fact some one was watching her, which was enough to put her on guard, even if she didn't quiet know what was going on, at least not yet. As it stood she was on guard with out really knowing why.

She heard something drawing closer to her and while she had no idea what it was, however she was fairly sure that something that was staring that hard at her did not have her best interest in mind. Usually those who did, did not lurk waiting for something to get close enough.

So, not knowing what she would see and not entirely sure she would want to, she moved her head so it would enter into her line of sight, judging by the sound of the voice it was indeed speaking to her. Not that she knew what it was exactly. "Yes?" She replied rather guarded, expecting it..whatever it was to not have her best interest in mind in the slightest.

The strange being just watched her with a smile. He could tell that he thought that he intends to hurt her. Which was not the case at the moment. At the moment he wanted to assess her a try to figure out if he could use her or not. If he could use her he would let her live. If not he would kill her and move on. That was how he worked.

" I was wondering if you were a local to this area. I need some help getting around this place." He told her with a smile. He figured she would not be willing to help. Heck who would?. However it would give him a change to figure her out further.t hats what he wanted to do for now anyway.

She was not entirely trusting that he, whatever he was had simply stopped her just to ask her for help. It was clear there was some other motive at play, rather or not her thoughts on the matter was correct, it did not change the situation. There was no point in wondering about other situations or what may or may not happen.

"What kind of help?" She tilted her head to get a better look at him and folded her arms while she waited to see how he would reply.

He smiled when he heard her question. Maybe this one was not pathic like the rest of her kind. Only time would tell though. He would just Waite and watch and observe.

" I need a guide. Someone to show me around and all that. I am willing to pay if you want." He told he with a smile. He wanted to try to make he relax and drop her guard only then would his plan work.

Ember wasn't entirely sure there was a simply request to be shown around going on here. But, if she appeared that she did she might find out what the ..creature in front of her really had in mind. It never was so simple as a tour, although if she was wrong it would please her. Luck was never that kind her, it was something she had come to expect by now, so she simply nodded as causually as she could in this situation.

"To where? People don't bother to stop and ask for directions unless they are looking to go some place."

Cryotech just smiled and watched her. He was sure that he would find out more about her. Ever if she did not take him up on his offer. " Well maybe show me the good places to eat . The local inn and some good places to shop for things. I am new to this world and want to learn about it." He said with a growl. Though the growl was more of sighing noise then anything else.

Ember thought about the offer. While she did not trust the..whatever he was. At least, if she did take him up on his offer it would be in a public place. Not that, that meant much much. But, it did offer her some degree of personal safety. If things went bad she would have more of a chance to defend herself rather than being some where alone and isolated.

"Sure." She said rather casually trying to appear to be non nonchalant, at least for the time being. For now, she would play casual and slightly clueless. It wouldn't do to seem too overly cautious.

Cryotech just smiled as she seemed to think about what he said. He shook the rain from his fur slightly. He hated the cool wet weather. That was why he was glad that his home planet did not have that problem.

He was happy to hear that his offer was accepted. That meant that he could now put his plan in to action.  " I am glad that you want to help. I'm cryotech by the way" he said introducing himself now.

Ember on the other hand did not mind the weather, she preferred it actually, but as conversation had not turned towards weather, at least not yet she didn't voice her thoughts on the matter. After all, she had other things to ponder about the situation than rather or not she was going to get a little wet. A little damp wouldn't kill her in the long run.

"Ember." She gave her name, her first name. There was no need to give her whole name to some one she had just met. After all it was hardly like they knew each at all, and if things went bad then there was less information floating around about her the better.

Cryotech smiled as she told him her name. He thought about it it for a couple of minutes. It was a strange name to him. However he did think that maybe his own name might be odd to this human. Though to his kind his name was very common to his kind.

"So where would you suggest going first miss ember?" He asked still keeping a smile on his face. Every now and then his former tounge would flick across his sharp fangs. Just a odd habit of his when he was talking and thinking.

Ember might have been an odd name, she had never really thought about it before. Then again with humans being as wide spread as they were who knew what a common name was any more? In any case they were not talking about names they were discussing where to go it looked like. Not that she was entirely familiar with the area, at least not as much as she would like to be, but there was no need to bring that up.

"Come on then." She said simply moving towards a more out of the way, yet still public location. After all she didn't entirely trust what she was talking to, but there was always a danger of standing out to much as well.

((I'm sorry about your wait. Life got busy on me))

Cryotech was still smiling as the rain started to come down a little harder. In the grey light his eyes would seem to get brighter.  He had better vision in the darkness then light.

" Okay you lead the way." He told her now. He would follow her when she started moving. He didn't know where he was going here.

occ: sorry internet issues)

Ember nodded and headed towards what passed for a small cafe type area. Not that it was an actual cafe but close enough for the area. She was right in so much most people were not out and about in the weather and at this hour. She looked to make sure she was being followed before making her way towards some place that while still public was not in the middle of the crowd. "Well, what do you want?"

((It's alright))

Cryotech followed her as she headed out to the cafe. He noted that there weren't that many people out in this weather. He did not blame them in the least. He did not get overly close. He wanted her to have her space after all. As the got to the cafe he took a breath smelling the different smells. Everything did smell tasty.

" I would not know what would be good here. What do you like best?" He asked with a smile to her. He was actually getting better at pretending that he was nice now.

Ember was aware that at least some of it was an act. Or maybe not, but she did keep a healthy level of paranoia about most people. However, she was also careful to not set him off that she was less than trusting about this motives. "That." She thought fast pointing at a plate that went by. Truthfully she had never tried it, but it looked like poultry of some sort or a very close relative there of with tubers.

"It's popular, they sell it more than they sell everything else." She assumed, it sounded like a good story in any case.

Cryotech nodded when she told him what she liked. He could tell that she might not have been being completely truthful on that account. However he decided not to point that out at the moment. "Then will you join me in having some. I'll be glad to pay for it. It's the least I can do since your helping me" he said to her .

Already he was planning what he was going to do to get her on his side. And what he was going to do to her once he did so. Yes it would be very nice. For him at least.
