They call me Red... And I'm a space pilot[closed]
« on: August 12, 2014, 07:35:16 pm »
Lilicka was sitting in a pub, looking over her shoulder time to time, checking the barmaid, Rose. She talked to her once or twice during her last visits. Well she was the reason Lilicka came back in this testosterone hole. All the mans tried to hook up with her and She was jealous.

Since the ship crashed, Lilicka was in search of a new ship and new crew to hangout with.

"I hope someone heard that I was in town, I would give anything to work again. I want to see the stars again, visits new worlds." She thought, "Ten more minutes and I'm going home, hate seeing those pigs hanging around Rose."

The music in the bar was interrupted by the sounds of the old jukebox hanging on a pole changing disks and started playing "Sweet Home Edanith" as a man in armor with a duster over it walked away and sat down at the counter on one the bar stools and looked at the men trying to woo the barmaid " Oi, Leave the lady alone and let her do her job." he barked as he pissed off a few of them. of of the other men sat next to him and took his drink when it landed on the counter.

"Want to say that again?"

"All you bar boys are the same and always hit on the first barmaid you see... also could you lean back a bit, I'm not looking for a boyfriend." The man who stole the drink face started to turn red in anger and too many drinks and pulled out a knife but froze as he felt the stranger's gun on his gut " I came here to drink in peace not start a fight and make things worst than it already is, now scoot off and leave the barmaid alone." he smiled at the man before putting his knife away and backing off leaving the stranger to his drink which was spilled all over the counter. The stranger holstered the gun and picked up the empty glass and downed what little was left in it.

Lilicka looked over her shoulder, she heard what the man said and she was grateful. She got to the bar and asked two beers to Rose and gave one two the mystery man.
"Hey thanks...Sir. That was awesome! My name is Lilicka but everyone call me "Red" for some reason."

She then looked at Rose with mellow eyes, clearly stating her attraction to her.

"I am not the type of picking bar fights... even for someone I like. Anyway, you don't come from this part of town, don't you? Do you have a ship?"

"Eh... No problem, Just doing what I would have done where I come from... Oh, Names Tristan, Tristan Meseth."

He said  as he moved his hand through his blonde hair and took a drink of the beer Red got for him.

"Yeah, I'm from the Firdini Migrant fleet and I have a ship... She's parked in one of the hangers... I'm surprised she even fit."

He took another drink this time downing it and show effects from the alcohol except his breath.

"I heard from a few of my employers that you're a pretty good pilot... And sometimes A Hired gun needs some help in some jobs that a AI won't do."

"What? My name is traveling faster then I am out there!?"She said, amazed. "And Why would someone like you need someone like me? You know that the last ship I was on crashed?"Her eyes filled with tears and filled with tears. "My girlfriend died that day!"

Red took a deep breath and then looked at Rose, ordered something stronger and emptied her glass.

"You're not the only one who lost someone, My own brother got shot down trying to deliver supplies to a colony in Edanith... This is just one hellish universe that we need to survive." He said as he brought his drink to his lips before remembering that it was empty.

" I need someone who knows their way around this system... I also need someone who  can help me if I have another heart failure... Which reminds me." He  reached into his pocket and pulled out a  metal pill case "Can I get a glass of water?" He said to Red as he opened up the case and grabbed one of the pills and popped it into his mouth and downing it with some water.

"I got to have these things once a day until I'm out... it was this or paying a million credits for nano surgery."

Red gave a good look at Tristan, wondering what was in for her.
"So you're telling me that a Hired Gun needs to hire someone else? She stop and giggles, "What do I get in all of this?"

She played with her hair absently, thinking about returning in space for something that appeared to be an eternity.
"Do you have a place to stay tonight? I have an empty room if you need to rest. I need to pick some stuff at home anyway!"

She kissed Rose good bye and walked towards the exit, waiting for Tristan to catch up.

"Well, I'm not actually hiring you, I need a partner in crime and you seem like the only person around here that I can stand." He chuckled before leaving some credits on the counter a and tip for Rose before following Red.

"I was thinking we divide pay 50/50 between us on jobs and take shifts flying the Malta... My Ship... I'm guessing you want to see it? and I have a bed on my ship but I don't mind, It won't hurt me to sleep on a planet for a day."

Red walked silently with Tristan for the whole walk, thinking about space and the offer the man just made. Once at the house, she said: "Fine! but I want my own room and full privacy! Anyway what kind of jobs do you take?"

She sat on the table, waiting for him to sit on the couch or something, looking at him taking his coat off like a cat.
"I hope you like family 'cause we are eight here!" she giggled. "Anyway, make yourself at home!" She then took her boots off and took some food out of the fridge. "Hungry?"

Tristan Followed her to her house with the sound of his metal boots clinking against the ground and the sound of metal plates shifting in his armor under his duster. "That's fine by me, I have two other rooms aside from my quarters... And I tend to do some bounty hunting and transporting goods or Escorting a Freighter." He chuckled before entering the house and looking around before putting his duster on the coat rack revealing his old Assault armor from the Previous Edanith Aedolian War.

"I don't mind family, Growing up on a crowded ship is like living in a family of two hundred or so... And I'll just take a glass of water, I ate on the way to the bar."

Red came back from the kitchen a glass of water in one hand and a sandwich in the other. She sat on a couch in front of Tristan and gave him the glass of water. As she sat comfortably, she saw his equipment.
"Man,what's up with that? You look ready for a war or something!" She giggled, "Tell me more about yourself since you already know everything about me."

She listened to him and ate her sandwich. When the story came to an end, she got up and said "I need to go grab some things to the bar that I forgot and I would like to drop them on you ship right now, I don't want to forget about them tomorrow."

She put her boots on again.

Tristan Chuckled at her comment about his armor. "When you kill the leaders of Large Pirate clans then you can make fun of my armor... and you want to know about me eh? Fine, I have nothing better to hide..." He fell a little silent as he tried to thin where to start. "Well, I come from a small Migrant fleet of about twelve ships  filled to the brim with people and supplies. I was in one of them lower caste families but my father got elected to represent our ship, The Dragon's tear... I grew up like any other kid and soon got tired of the place and snuck off when we docked at Cancer and joined a Mercenary company. That company was like a family to me and well, they taught me everything I know now, from shooting a gun to driving the ship I have now... She's a Heirloom from our Boss's family... since he had no kin he gave it to me because I was the closest he had to his kid... I heard about your crash and came here, Seeing another kid who lost someone they loved."

He said as he took sips  of his drink until it was out and he was finished with his life story in a nutshell. " alright, I can show you my ship once we get everything you need." He got up from the couch and walked over to the kitchen and  rinsed his glass and set it up to dry. He grabbed his coat and put it over his armor like it was before and opened the door out and stepped outside. "Tuer nsovi rdemqr!" He shouted as he plugged his nose at the strange sudden bad smell that seemed to hit like a tsunami.

At first she thaught that he was joking, but if he was he was a good actor.
"Hey whats up? You smell yourself?" She giggled "No seriously, I don't smell anything at all, I have sense of smell!?"

She looked around for answers, but she didn't knew from where the smell was comming from. Her Bowie knife got in her hand the time Tristan blinked, ready to fight.

"It smells like something died, or has been dead for a while now." He said as he also looked around and stopped at the trashcans nearby and opened up one of the dumpsters and jumped back as he saw something. "F-found the smell... Some kind a big dog thing..." He pulled out his gun and slowly opened the dumpster as a swarm of insects came out to reveal the corpse of a mutant of sorts. "Well that makes me feel ten times safer." He sighed sarcastically before closing the dumpster to let the mutant rot in peace.

"Alright, let's head back to the bar then to my ship."

Lilicka looked over Tristan shoulder as he opened the dumpster...

"Dear gods..." she said in a disgusted tone.  "yeah let's go before I throw up."
Red pushed the dumpster away, abandoning it in a alley, on the other side of the street, burning. Pressing the pace, she took Tristan hand, leading him away.
"The last time that this happened, the whole district was infested by pests of all kind. If I find the dumbass who dumped the corpse there, I swear...!"

Her hand was small but firm in Tristan's hand, her small knuckles turning white. She seemed worried and angry.

"Yeah... we have similar problems on the fleet when ever we dock with a station." He said as he was led back to the bar and leaned up against the wall next to the entrance before reaching into his pocket and pulled out a stick of gum which he put in his mouth and began chewing "I'll wait out here while you get your stuff. I'm not in a hurry so take your time."

After a few minutes, she got out. She had a duffle bag on her shoulder and twin revolvers at her waist. She took a deep breath and sighed.
"I'm ready. Show me that baby of yours!" she said with a smile, trying to hide her sadness.
She walked close to Tristan, making sure they would not get separate by the crowd. At a stop, she got pushed against Tristan's back, she blushed.

"She's not that far... and I could see past that smile of yours, You'll see everyone again. I usually spend a lot of time looking for jobs that I know we're able to do so there's a lot of RnR." He chuckled as he walked forward toward the ship port. They continued walking until Tristan stopped and looked up at a sign with street names when Red got pushed into his back Making him blush a little. Not wanting to have a awkward conversation, he continued to walk until they got to Bay 18 where is ship was. It was a Corvette class troop transport refitted to be a combat ship. "Here she is, The Malta."

Red held her breath a few seconds.
"She's beautiful! I can see you took great care of her!" She passed her hand on the rail as she passed by the ship."My name is Lilicka, but you can call me Red" she whispered to the ship.

Red looked back at Tristan, waiting him to open the airlock.

"By the way, I want you to know my number one rule when in space: Problem aboard? Your best friend is the airlock!" She said in a giggle.

"Yeah, She was my grandfather's ship, then my father's, and now it's mine. She's kept me alive for a long time, though... My family have kept her alive much longer." He said as he looked at it from a distance and pointed up to a series of skulls with crossbones looking like a kill count. He walked up to the airlock and typed in a short code before it opened to the cargo bay. there was boxes of mainly food and water for the crew at the moment but there was enough space to put a small vehicle in there too. A door led to the lounge area with a round booth and table next to a kitchen and on the opposite side was a VR Extranet Computer next to a couch and a few chairs that looked at a TV.  "Here's the Lounge and passed that door it the Medical bay, two crew rooms and captains quarters on both sides, at the end is the vault, armory and bridge."
