Fenrir

Fenrir is a great guy, loves to laugh and plays just as hard as he works. As Security Chief for the Atlas he has a job to keep the peace and if need be fight off pirates.

With his bio-mechanical right hand and left eye he's a tough opponent in a fight, and if you're attacking the Atlas, forget it, no mercy.

Mittens

Mittens is the ships cat aboard the Atlas, keeping the vermin to a minimum is her job, though she rather prefers being scratched by the people she likes. Offer her some meat and she'll love you for life.

Fang of Wind

Fang is a Fenren (my own made up race). With his big Wolf like ears and his fluffy looking tail, he looks like something you want to hug. His quiet, focused personality makes his a little creepy though, and when it comes to a fight, his merciless, detached killing makes him someone to be feared.

A description of Fenra and Its People

Fenra: Fenra is the name of the Fenran Home planet, which is a planet roughly the same distance from its star as Earth (or Terra if you prefer) is from its star. The star that Fenra orbits is known to those of human descent as Sirius, the dog star. While not quite accurate it is a near thing as Fenrans resembles the wolves of Earth. In the Fenran language the name of their star is 'bark yip bark left ear twitch to 45 degree angle for three seconds' and translates directly into 'Eye of the gods'.
Fenra is also one fo the rare Sentient Planets, aware of all that goes on on its surface, though it takes it many years to react as planets are slow in everything they do. The Fenran people worship their planet which is considered Female and since the planet has no real gender it doesn't care if they call it a she or a he.
Fenrans worship their planet but also their star and the six other planets in their system, one of which is capable of supporting life and has already been colonized, however this planet is not sentient and has completely predictable weather patterns. Fenrans beleive that all planets, sentient or not, are the are the bodies of Gods, those that are not 'aware' are said to be sleeping and awaiting their time to 'wake'.
The Fenran people belive that females, who bear young, are as divine as any mortal can hope to be as only the divine have the power to create life. Despite the fact that science has proven that it takes both male and female to create life the Fenran belief that females are superior to males persists.
Fenran courtship and mating: In Fenran society females choose the male. In instances where more than one male is attempting to attract the attention of a single female fights tend to take place. In an effort to preserve the species and reduce the number of maimings and death, a battle ends when one male strikes the other three times, drawing blood each time. To attack your opponent after the thrid blow is not only considered cowardly, it is seen as a sign of low moral standards.
Most Fenrans choose a mate and live with that mate until death, however in the Military Warriors often seek release amomgst themselves, informal pairings like these are considered normal and neccasary for overall morale and keeps spirits from crumbling. Fenrans with a bonded mate who are in the military are given frequent leave to prevent pent up frustrations from causing a drop in morale.
Formal pairings, where vows of loyalty and love are exchanged, are the primary source of new generations, as informal pairings are carefully protected to avoid pregnancy during a mission. Since most Females in the military are Officers this would be very inconvenient as Female Fenrans, when expecting, are extremely volatile and dangerous. The only thing more dangerous than a Fenran female armed with a laser rifle is a pregnant or nursing Female armed with a laser rifle.
The Fenran Social Structure:

The Holy Caste: Made up of the clergy and Aristocrats of the Fenran populous this caste is the top of the pecking order, the Royal Family and the High Priestesses of Fenra are members of the Holy Caste. As are the lower nobles and the lesser clergy. Most of the Holy Caste is found on Fenra and rarely leaves with the exception of the Warrior Priestesses of which there is one for every ship to perform the neccasary rituals to cleanse the dead and pray for the living.
The Warrior Caste: Made up of the Military, most Fenrans are not born to this caste and are in fact raised to the position after rigorous training to become elite figthing machines. Those Born to the Caste begin their training before they are even abe to walk. The training methods differ from family to family and are kept secret from outsiders
The Merchant Caste: This one pretty much explains itself. This is the caste for those who sell goods to other cultures. The Merchant Caste however bears the honor of being able to buy their way into the Holy Caste. Merchants who work hard are sometimes given titles and lands this happens rarely but often eough that there is always new blod in the Holy Caste to prevent inbreeding.
The Makers Caste: The lowest of the Castes, the Maker Caste is made up of agricultural providers and manufacturers. Without the Makers Caste the rest of the Fenran civilization would falll apart at the seams.

Other life forms of Fenra:
Bonyip: The Bonyip is a medium sized cow like creature that is used primarily as a food source by Fenrans, however sometimes a Fenran may take one in as a pet. they are about 80 lbs of muscle and fat. They have large litters of 8-12 and can have up to six litters in one earth year. Their markings are varied, ranging from solid black to white with red spots. Bonyip are considered very stupid so to call someone a Bonyip is an insult to their intelligence.
Yow-ooh: The Yow-ooh is a highly intelligent, but not sentient, cat like creature, kept primarily as pets or as pest control on board ships the Yow-ooh, or 'Yow', are highly valued by Fenrans and are an expensive pet to keep as they require a lot of food. One of the traits that makes Yow so beloved is that they form a psychic bond with their owner.
Grrar: The largest fish on Fenra, they are considered a delicacy, however those who fish for these massive beasts risk death as the Grrar is sixty feet in length, weighs several tons and is armed with six rows of razor sharp teeth that scissor the flesh of its prey into small easily digested pieces.
Horooh: The Horooh, or "Ancestor" is a wolf like being that Fenran's evolved from. These beings are not only sentient, they are highly intelligent and quick to learn. Horooh live in isolated forests on Fenra, occasionally venturing out to deliver warnings or greetings. Horooh believe only the gods should travel the stars and refuse to space travel.
