Physical Description
Very light, almost silvery, blue skin and a well toned but slender body. His eyes are magenta and he has a rather youthful appearance. His chin length caramel / dirty blonde hair is parted to one side with a few pieces falling in his face at times. His other notable feature is his furry ears. They are in the same position that human ears would be but almost look like a small dog’s.
When on duty his face always has a harsh no-nonsense look and his eyes appear to be more almond shaped. He is always clean shaven and slicks back his hair as well.
When off duty his hair is usually messy and unstyled, his eyes are noticeably larger in appearance and his face is softer looking, except perhaps for the stubble that is left unchecked.
Personality
Chance/ Pilot Echo Lufti has a special case of multiple personality disorder. It is well documented that there are two personalities within the Pilot and there is a clear on/off switch between the two. It is believed (by his mentor) that the split took place during Chance’s Candidate Training, particularly when developing his hemokinetic ability. Candidate Lufti had always been energetic, willing to learn, outgoing and dedicated to his training, but was very hesitant to use his latent hemokinetic ability as anything more than a psychic tourniquet. When pushed into using it or failing his training it seemed as though a switch was flipped and he grew more serious and determined to succeed. His loyalty never wavered and he honed his psychic skills.
From that point on Candidate Lufti, and then Pilot Lufti, never displayed the same sort of hopeful cheer and enthusiasm he once did. The change in attitude was seen as simply growth and a change in attitude at first. After graduation the other personality re-emerged. Chance, appeared as he is now, during the week off after graduation. The shift was noted immediately as a bit odd though was chalked up to celebratory good times. Of course this side of the Pilot was cheery, shy, and knowledge hungry.
The pattern seemed to continue that when on duty he was the serious Pilot Lufti and off duty he was light hearted Chance. His mind’s ability to compartmentalize itself was quickly studied and he was the subject of countless inquisitions as both personalities. There is no display of disloyalty in either personality but it was vehemently established that he would be closely watched and was strictly forbidden from interacting with candidates under any circumstances. Pilot Lufti / Chance is often monitored but shows no resentment of it. Pilot Lufti is fiercely loyal and believes that everything the government does is without fault, while Chance is shows almost childlike indifference to government activities and is happy if he is able to read and spent time around plants.
Magic/Abilities
Both of his personalities possess telepathic and telekinetic abilities, but there are some things that are unique to each of his personalities.
Chance possesses strong florapathy and also seems to have a sort of flora based empathy ability. While he does display some hydrokinesis he does not seem to be able to perform any sort of hemokinesis. It is believed by those who have studied him that it is a mental block that exists within this personality.
Pilot Lufti is a well-trained and exceptionally skilled hemokinetic as well as hydrokinetic. He does however entirely lack any sort of florapathy.
Relationships
His parents are deceased and while he was once told his maternal grandparents were still alive it matters little to either of his personalities.
His only real relationship is with his dragon, Hemlock. He is rather fascinated by Chance / Pilot Lufti and is even fond of the two personalities. Hemlock even jokes that he has two Pilots, though of course Chance is oblivious to missions and such but still has a strong connection to Hemlock. Pilot Lufti on the other hand is rather ashamed of the split personality predicament and often requests Hemlock not mention ‘Chance’ around him.
History
Chance Lufti was born to two prominent Initiative members, in fact the Lufti name has quite a history in anti-Aedolian activities. His father’s family had lived underground and been unchipped for a few generations. His mother was from a upper level family and turned to the initiative after her older brother committed suicide during his Pilot candidate training. Chance never really knew his parents though, and that is the only reason he was even allowed to enter the candidate program at all.
His father was executed for terrorist activities before Chance was even born, and his mother died before he was even a year old. He was raised in an orphanage in the lower levels, the director of which had him chipped and registered him under the name Chance Lufti instead of Chase Lufti Jr. as his mother had named him. The director would not lie to the government about the Chance’s family history since she was well aware of it, but she wanted to take some of the stigma off of his name and give him a ‘chance’ to live a happy law-abiding life. Chance grew up believing whole-heartedly in all the government propaganda. He wanted to be a Pilot so badly and jumped at the opportunity to join the candidate program. He never even resented the government for the deaths of his parents. He always felt like his parents were bad people and he would go the extra mile to be a good boy and prove his worth.
Given Chance/ Pilot Lufti’s pedigree and uniqueness, he is closely monitored and is unable to rise higher than his current ranking of Echo. Chance doesn’t concern himself with any of this and Pilot Lufti does not question his higher ups and believes strongly that anything the government does is for the best.
