Capture the Flag -or- Criminals A-Scurryin'

Crime was a fact of human life and criminals always liked to run. When that happened, big daddy Government sent out its little helpers to drag the undesirables back, usually kicking and screaming, to be put into a nice little room for a good while. How'd that saying go? Don't make the slime if you can't eat the grime? Something like that.

Didn't always have to go through the hassle of bringing them back, either.

Rantin walked along near the back of the group, as usual. He liked it near the back, it kept him far enough away from most encounters so he could concentrate and do what he did best: Drop enemies. The sniper had already had a couple of opportunities to showcase his skills and he hadn't disappointed. He'd racked up five kills off the two groups of mutants that had tried to get a bite to eat from the humans.

He hadn't been the only one to drop a few muties, either. His eyes strayed over towards the standout addition to his little hike, another sniper. Well, the guy seemed more a sniperesque type of guy. It was probably - no, definitely - the gun. It just didn't seem...snipery to him. Probably the armor, too. Oh well, as long as the new guy didn't get in the way of his shots, Rantin wouldn't have cared if the other guy was wearing a tutu and carrying a club.

Hell, those would be some interesting pictures.

As the group neared their destination, the team lead motioned for them to circle up. "A'ight. I know y'all've been told what's gonna happen but I want ta make sure ya 'ave it down pat." He pointed to the skeleton of what had been a clock tower "Rantin, you 'n' the merc hop up there and work your magic on any bug ya see." He nodded and moved towards the other sniper so they could set out as soon as this was done. "The rest a ya betta group up inta two teams. Remember, Command wants us to bring'em the leader wrapped up all nice. Bringing anybody else is just wasted effort. Got it?" The soldiers snapped a salute. The lead smiled. "Let's bag us some baddies boys 'n' girls!"

So, here Severak was, another mission, another day. Today was the day where he helped the military out, seeing as there was some sort of shortage of snipers. They needed at least two for this mission for one reason or another, and Severak wasn't one to complain about that. After all, he got his bread'n'butter from things like this. He listened to the leader with his accent, and he nodded at the orders. So he was working with the other sniper? Interesting. He didn't get to work with others that specialized in the same thing as him, so it was interesting to have him work with another. He wasn't too worried about kill count, just getting the job done, getting payed, and leaving.

Once the leader had finished his little prep speech and they had all done their salutes (excluding Severak, as he wasn't military), Severak's head turned to the other sniper. He nodded at him, and then began to move in the direction of the tower. He figured that the other sniper was following, because, well, it was what they were told to do. He hugged walls whenever he could, and checked corners. It was almost clear to their objective before he heard a strange, barely human conversation. Mutant chatter. He wasn't a leader of any sort, more of a lone wolf, so he figured the sniper would know that they were either going to kill them, or sneak by. His middle optical popped out and zoomed around the corner, one of the designs, and he spotted three mutants. That was more men then the two, but the real problem wasn't their numbers. It was the armor.

Mutants weren't the greatest shots or anything, but made up for their lack of accuracy and skill with brute force and amazing battle capabilities. And what better way to get rid of the gap of skill and accuracy by getting close and personal without having to worry about getting shot to death? The armor they wore could deflect most calibers of bullets, although Severak's may have a chance at getting through. However, he didn't want to test that first-hand. The joints seemed weaker in armor, however... but not totally uncovered. Keeping his voice quiet, he spoke. "Do we sneak, or take them out?" Severak asked, his voice quiet enough that the mutants wouldn't hear.

This posed an interesting challenge for two snipers.
