Zarkin' Crazy
« on: December 30, 2008, 06:25:32 pm »
Synesthesia, the hottest night club in Haviah, packed as always. There was a DJ playing today, one of the crowd favorites, known mainly as DJ Juno. Now the name Juno had lived in infamy for ages on Earth in the way that Loki was with the Norse Gods. Not a very common name but the name itself was nearly a curse word. Either one would have to be very gutsy to have that name or extremely cursed.

Now this particular DJ knew his way around the club and had arrive hours before the crowed had arrived. Putting up speakers here, a microphone there... headphones there, and it all payed off. Currently at about 11:30PM he noticed the bouncer step aside to show some... more interesting guests into the club. Instead of dancing and enjoying themselves with the others they promptly darted straight for the basement door. The DJ Just flicked an automated switch in his booth and the mic he had planted down earlier fed directly into his head phones, while the music itself went on autopilot. This pink haired, ruby eyed, cat eared/tailed, feminine looking Neko of a DJ had an hour of listening into the shady underground dealings of SYN.
___________________ ___________________ ___________________ ________________
d-_-b
This is what he heard:

"You're Zarkin' Crazy! That's the job!? No way, no deal. Even the rumors we've heard about that place, as few as they are, count the entire mission as Suicide! I don't care how much you're offering it's not worth my life or my men!"

The DJ just grimaced at this news, whoever was shouting down there was a little close to the mic he had planted and the feedback was over the top.

"Now surely we can come to an agreement Mr..." Came a gentler smoother voice more than likely the backer.

"Don't 'Mr.' me! This whole load of tripe is a bunch of bollocks. Men, lets go."

There was the sound of angered foot steps leaving as the shady group of men exited the club, but the DJ pressed his headphones tightly to the top of his head, bobbing his head up and down to the music in a pretend guise of participating on another activity. It was over before it even started, and the DJ sighed. No interesting tidbits of information as to what the job was this night.

"Well that's was the first group, and frankly I think they're under qualified for the job... send in the next."

"They'll be here in an hour"
Came a reply from a much deeper voice. Probably a bouncer or some kinda bodyguard.

His attention perked up again, more than one merc on this job, and with organized meeting times? This obviously had to be some major mission... but till then he had twenty nine minutes to kill before any more of that precious information would reach his black pointed ears. He flicked a switch and right in the middle of a song he added a non character note and stopped the music.

There were angry shouts from the dancers. "What the hel-" But before those rage fueled woods could become an uproar. The DJ just held up on finger and words could be heard on the dance floor.

And everything is going to the beat
And everything is going to the beat
And everything is going

Then came in the hard notes deep bass beat of the drum, and suddenly all was right. Automated chimes filled the air... and soon everything was back to where it was. One heck of a rave.

And you said it was like fire around the brim
Burning solid burning thin the burning rim
Like stars burning holes right through the dark
Flicking fire like saltwater into my eyes
You were one inch from the edge of this bed
I dragged you back a sleepyhead

They couldn't think of something to say the day you burst
With all their lions and all their might and all their thirst
They crowd your bedroom like some thoughts wearing thin
Against the walls against your rules against your skin
My beard grew down to the floor and out through the doors
Of your eyes, begonia skies like a sleepyhead

Your head

Inali was standing outside of the club trying to keep her nerves from going haywire. Knowing that her Brother had been drafted into the joy of candidacy when he happened to take a joy ride to Aedolis.

What a dumb ass.

he made her head hurt sometimes. She knew she would be safer than he could ever be here. She had been here several times on her own even. A safe in and out. He just didn't have much common sense to help him. Plus, Inali had always been more cut off from everything outside her little bubble than her brother was. She told him it was safer. Sometimes she was jealous as hell.

Inali's ears and tail were hidden disguising the signs of the Kitsune. One of the many magic tricks she knew. Her mind was blocked from entry, an illusion of a typical you mind painted on the outside. A handy glamor her mother had taught her. Inali was tapping on the top of the cigarette pack in her pocket as she and her companion waited. Her the less patient of the two.

Taros stood a small distance from her. His back was turned to the Kitsune. He had a cigarette in hand blowing small dark weather clouds into the sky. The two had been traveling together since the failure of their last trip out. The Emberbrook. Inali missed that ship like crazy. Mostly Will and Liam. The crew had parted ways. She still wasn't positive how it happened her and Taros were together on jobs. She needed to send Will and Liam some mails. It just seemed she was always so busy. Ghin was in her mind but less so. When she woke up, some days she thought it was still because of hi myelling over the intercom.

Taros's mind worked a ton more simply than Inali's in several ways. He was all job. Watching the people going in. Casing them to see what threats might lie inside for them what the crowd looked like. Until, a raver girl with a short skirt walked by. Then he was all sex. One thing he really liked as compared to the Emberbrook, they were on land a whole hell of a lot more. Which meant Taros got a fill of several of his favorite things.

He looked back towards Inali. He should have come up with some reason they had to in costume for this. He could just imagine her in one of those skirt all sparkling and dancing. His eyes drifted up slowly. And so lost that she just couldn't stop herself from...

"Problem officer?" Inali asked Taros. He blinked and met her eyes a wide white smile on his face. He simply snickered and turned dropping his cigarette. He knew full well he was caught. He waved his hand to tell her to follow him. she kept somewhat close to him as they headed inside the club. Right behind one of those pretty ravers.

As soon as they came in they both stopped dead. Bodies were packed in so tight in felt like a Rain Forest. People of various species dancing and moving to the music. It made Inali very aware of the Faery blood in her. She felt it pulsing looking for humans to torment. She licked her lips as all the tiny glowing lights reflected in her eyes.

"Sometimes this doesn't even feel like a job." Taros spoke leaning closer to her. She nodded a wide smile on her face.

For Zom, being in Haviah was fairly dangerous. Though she wasn't really a psionic herself, her mental signature was strong enough that any pilot that got close would pick her up immediately. And if they did that, they would probably want to probe her mind, which was where she would get into trouble. Of course, nobody would succeed at the attempt, but that was the very thing that probably wouldn't go over very well. People in charge of things don't like an unknown, as unknowns introduce chaos into the system and ruin plans.

Luckily for her, even if she was easily detectable here, she would still be rather difficult to catch. For that reason, she was willing to chance coming to this place just this once. She had been working as something of a free agent for some time now, and had heard of a rather big job that was available here. Not that she needed money, really, but she liked to break up the monotony.

Not wanting to be in this city for any longer than she could avoid, Zom made a point to find this Synethesia place as quickly as she could. The place being rather well-known made that easier, at least. But it also put her on edge, since a place like that was also likely to attract a pilot or two from time to time. But since she really wanted to take on the challenge she had  heard this job offered, she risked it.

Currently, she was in the crowd, trying to blend in. Of course, that helmet was drawing more than a few odd looks, but she wasn't going to take it off. She wasn't participating too much in the actual dancing, either, as she was too focused on figuring out where she could find the people she needed to speak with. If only she had a bit more clout, she might have been able to get invited. But since she preferred avoiding too much attention, she usually had to muscle her way into these things.

Eventually, her roving eyes noticed some people emerging from a back room in a huff and storming out of the club. Most of the oblivious people around here may not have paid much attention to it, but it was suspicious enough to Zom to warrant watching that particular door a bit more closely. And so, after proceeding to acquire a drink from the bar (completely for appearances, as it wouldn't really do anything for her undead brain), she took a seat within sight of that door and began to watch it. She didn't really want to use up her invisibility for the day, having been trying to save that in case a quick escape became necessary, so she was going to have to rely on more conventional methods of snooping.

"A-are you c-c-certain we should... uhh... that we should be in here, uhh..." The nervous voice was scarcely heard over the pounding beat of the rave music, as it's owner dodged around the much larger humans engaged in dancing, drinking, drugging and... other such actives that one expects to find at a club. He almost had to dance himself to avoid having someone step on his tail or run into his wings... something that wasn't all that desirable right now. He didn't know these humanoids' relations with aliens, but... he didn't want to be one to find out the hard way. This worry only added to his headache caused by the pounding synthesized music, whirling lights, the myriad of smells... well, needless it was a little overwhelming for someone used to the quiet solitude of space. Even on the busiest trade stations, he hadn't seen anything like this... though, admittedly, he had just finished his development into adulthood a few months back, so it wasn't like he would have been invited to his place but still -

His thoughts were cut off as he found himself being stumbled over "WOAH!" he shouted, and dove forwards, wings propelling him into the back of his companion.

"OOPH!" Andras stumbled forwards, but spreading his own wings, kept himself from falling onto his face. He turned around slightly, glaring down at Vaughn, who grinned back up sheepishly

"Oops?" the younger kalfa chuckled nervously, causing his commander to roll his groan and roll his eyes... thankfully, it didn't seem like anybody had noticed, the fellow having fallen over onto a table, knocking it over, and he was hastily, if drunkenly, apologizing for spilling it's occupants' drinks.Enervation

Well, Andras sighed, at least the fellow found those females attractive enough to try and flatter them instead of seeking out the person that tripped him... he reached down and hauled Vaughn to his feet

"Uhh, sorry... I was... it's... I... uhh... sorry?" The white kalfa's ears drooped, as an embarrassed blush glowed through his fur.

"Just... try to pay attention... please?" Andras muttered, and turned back through the crowd, redoubling his efforts at keeping them unnoticed and under the radar... they hadn't yet learnt much about this planet, but tails, fur and wings didn't quite seem to be the norm around here, so better safe then sorry. Though, with the shear number of people here, it was difficult to maintain an effective aura. He had considered bringing along Laryn instead of Vaughn for this first trek to the planet, but... he looked warily at the surroundings... she'd more than likely try to get in on the action. No, Vaughn was the only one he could really trust to keep his mouth shut and eyes open.

After all, he thought to himself, how else were they going to get what they needed here? They lacked connections, or any real knowledge about the planet or it's peoples, but this appeared to be just the right location to find a bit of both. Same everywhere in the universe... all one needed was a little bit of self-control and discipline to dig up the gems.

Leaning casually in the doorway of her office, Cho Mazawa watched Juno work his magic on the turntables. Her newest DJ seemed to know what he was doing. Kinda cute, too, if you didn't have a problem with cat ears and a tail. He had something going on with his beatmatching, though... not too noticeable, just slightly off. Maybe he was running a delay through the headphones.

Whatever, the crowd likes him.

The club manager shook her head, wandering over to the basement stairwell and offering a brief nod to the bouncer. He was also new, and not as discerning as the old one. There had been more VIP guests disappearing into the library recently, and it made Cho nervous.

She pressed her palm against a metal panel on the door, faded with years of use. The metal locks snapped open, and she passed quickly through the storage room, strewn with amplifiers and cables, approaching an array of circuit breakers inset against the far wall. Outside in the club, a vocoded voice began to count down the seconds to some inevitable sonic explosion. The switches were already set to their unlocked position. Cho rolled her eyes.

The power panel swung smoothly in to reveal the library stairwell, a wrought-iron metal fixture. It reminded Mazawa of Old Earth VCN shows. The rhythmic, thumping beat of the club rattled through the railings, spilling into the room below.

It was a crowded night in the library, and only a few people bothered to look up from their work. Mazawa's mysterious benefactor had sent her several terminals, and a handful of wireheads tended to congregate around them, near the front of the room. Cho worried about the hackers. She worried that someone would screw up and she'd have to fast-talk an investigation team on her own. She looked away, her eyes falling on the archives in back. Between the stacks you got uptight political theorists and the occasional skittish upper-caste suit. After that it was just a wall of doors, little steel-walled rooms, routinely scrubbed with EMP. Here in Haviah, people payed a lot for those.

That's where were the rebels and criminals met. Mazawa didn't like to think too hard about them unless she had to, but tonight was a special case. Their bodyguard, a man in a rather hideous brown suit, offered a smile as she approached the room. Cho frowned, ill at ease in this dimly-lit end of the archives. She had been briefed about what was going on, and she wanted no part of it. The sooner this suicide crew took off, the better.

"The kalfa should be arriving soon; I saw them on my way here," she muttered to the guard, "they kind of stand out in a crowd, and my man will admit them."

She paused for a moment, wondering about the new bouncer she'd hired, whether he'd let in the wrong kind of people. It was his first day, after all. The suicide crew's bodyguard quirked a brow, a minute smirk crossing his features. Professional pride.

"Right. Do another sweep; my employer didn't like the last team."

The deep bass from above rattled the books around inside their plexiglas housing. The bodyguard ducked through the door, and Cho was suddenly alone in the back of the library. Reaching for a small, black remote at her belt, she clicked a button and blasted the room with another electromagnetic pulse. From inside the room, something sizzled.

Please let this be over soon.

It was always a bad sign when someone bothered to bug the clean rooms.

Cables frayed as the electronic symphony sounded throughout that little room. The DJ above stairs winced at the unexpected feedback as the song he was currently playing shifted to a new one. EMP shockwave, he knew to expect something like that. But not exactly this far in... He had rigged two electronic traps in that room, one the emp bug and the other, a reactive timer. He checked said timer on his DJ panel, set to go off at some point in the song, about 3 minutes give or take a few seconds. He pushed a button on the turn tables, setting the play on full auto before darting into Synthesia's restroom, taking the half drunken bottle of vodka with him that had been sitting on one of his speakers from a random partier. After rolling his eyes at the smell of drugs being burned and the moans of a few of the people either tripping out or having 'fun' on in the stalls, he stood on the lid of the toilet and swung his arms around the overhanging air duct vent where he had stashed a duffel bag from earlier, he unzipped it and grabbed his artifacts: A titanium ring with a blue-gray semiprecious stone, a ruby dragon decorated lighter, a box of bobby pins, three rolls of change, a mislabled orange medicine tube full of sugar pills, and a Black Synesthesia T-shirt, floss, a trash bag, a roll of duct tape, a clear plastic cup with springs and paper in it, and a cheap costume pinstripe business suit.

He changed into the suit, moving the elastic band of the costume over his own and hiding his DJ shirt  under the vest and jacket. He had used the hair tie to bun up his tail and hide it in his pants, a bit uncomfortable. Proceeding this he then put on his ring and placed the deoderant and lighter in his pockets.

Juno took the t-shirt and turned it inside out before folding his ears down. He then proceeded to put it on, stopping with the collar making a whole for just the front of his face to poke through, tag where his chin should be. After this he tied the arms in a knot behind his head and folded the top half of the collar so that it was just above his eyes. Lastly he took the bottom collar and folded that over his nose. Voila! Instant ninja in a business suit.

This ninja then walked up to the wall mounted vending machine and inserted a some change obtained by the rolls he had brought, a crank here and a turn there and he had recieved four small sample canisters of spray deoderant, three condoms, asprin and sour drops a type of candy. Three minutes were just about up, and he stood right at the door, slipping his paper cup contraption to his ear, other end on the door listening to the other side of partiers.

3...2...1...
___________________ ___________________ ___________________ ________________

Below in the library about three minutes ago a bug had fizzled, powered by a well placed lemon, a copper piece and a nickle-zinc piece. When this contraption failed to work, it had been detected by the program that Juno was running in the background of his records, shifting to a song that he had selected to cue him and know when to act at what time. At the end of the song a signal was sent out through the DJ's cellphone, out the door, into a reciever, this was then shout out of a dish to another cellphone right in a manhole near the club. It rang, once, twice... and on the third time it sent a surge of power through it's battery, right at the climax of the song that Juno had rigged up. There in the club the lighting had been programed by Juno to the song instead of him flipping sliders around, for that would have required his presence... and this last bit, this surge... was just enough to tip the underground circuit braker.

Within 4 minutes of the Mazawa pressing the button, Synthesia, the residents above it the library, and the block that the club resided in was suddenly plunged into darkness. Chaos ensued, people began to panic and head for the doors to be let out while one ninja just slipped the cup contraption under his mask and headed his way to library. He didn't want to miss his 12:30 appointment.

As for the cellphone in the sewers? It's fit of power had melted the water soluible glue, causing it to fall right into the drink, where even if recovered would be water damaged beyond repair. And the humidity of the sewers would take care of the rest. Leading any experts later to think that everything had happened due to a flux in the system.

Taros and Inali wandered for a short time staying close but dancing with other people. they couldn't really help themselves. They always liked to mix work and pleasure when they could. Except with each other. They drew the line there and had done very well in keeping on opposite sides of it. They were party animals on the inside. They worked hard and played hard constantly. Even if the job they came here for ended up being out of their league is still worked out. They had gotten a much needed release, and a place to stop for cigarettes.

Then the lights went dark. Inali felt her heart beat fast in her chest. She couldn't work a glamor or illusion in this environment. One of her huge fears was lots of humans in a bad situation. She had seen it kill needlessly so many times she couldn't count it on her own hands. Though she noticed somewhat detached from the situation that all the glowsticks gave it an odd look of everyone standing in space. For about two seconds. then the screaming and running started. The pushing.

Inali was snatching glowsticks off of people's outfits and out of their pockets. She had her own but they weren't cracked yet. She could see Taros's eye glowing in the dark in front of her. She tried to push through the crowd. there were just too many people pushing opposite from her though. She growled. She knew the headlines tomorow would boast a death count from a club blackout, or perhaps it wouldn't mention it at all. Aedolis was an odd place.

Taros was searching for Inali and saw her holding a bunch of glowsticks. She couldn't push against the current enough. His eyes narrowed slowly and he pushed through the people his metal arms probably breaking at least one bone and causing lots of bruises. He pushed Inali against the closest wall blocking her from the people pushing past and knocking against him. His arms were on either side of her.

He looked down at Inali. Her arms were caught between her chest and his. Glowsticks clutched in her hands. The light outlined her face in such an interesting and beautiful way. He could see the slight panic in her eyes. He very rarely saw that in her. A breath of relief escaped her as she looked up to see it was him. The panic dissolved. Their hot breath mingled together and they both very suddenly realized the situation they were in.

Their careful barrier between the two of them had evaporated in an instant. Taros was breathing heavily and so was she. As people knocked into him his eyes didn't leave hers. He felt heat going through him as he looked at her. Riding together all this time. Barely ever touching. Afraid to cause something to happen. It was like the forbidden was suddenly just crashed apart.

Inali was trying to ignore the heat she was feeling all over. They had kept their distance so well until now. It was just going to complicate things. She couldn't help but feel the appeal of the situation though. This dangerous situation pushing adrenaline through her veins at an incredible speed. The darkness clouded around the. She looked up at him through half lidded eyes and dared him to do something about it.

(OOC: I can blame one week of this delay on the weather cutting off my electricity and internet.)

The longer Zom watched the door, the more she began to doubt that she actually could sneak through it. Not without going invisible, anyway, considering that it was an easy enough thing to keep constantly watched. And that would waste her escape route for the day. She thought about going ahead and doing that anyway, though, not wanting her time to be wasted.

But then, she found herself catching an unexpected break. For some reason, she didn't really know why, the lights suddenly went off, and people flew into a panic. And now she had an advantage. As a creature of the darkness, the lack of light was no hindrance to her as it was to the crowd of living. To be honest, she was tempted to pull a knife and shank a few of the creatures right then, as the situation was perfect for indulging in a nice little bloodbath. However, there was a potentially bigger prize to take from this than a few cheap kills, so she resisted that base urge and made her way towards the door she had been hoping to enter.

As she approached, however, she noticed another person moving towards it intently. Looked like... a ninja? She hadn't expected to see one of those here. Of course, that could have explained the sudden darkness, as she suspected whoever that ninja might have been was the one who had orchestrated this power failure. Either way, it had taken a load of work off of Zom's hands. Not wasting any time lingering around, the vampiress followed the unknown figure into the library beyond the door...

((I have to blame the weather too... I've had Internet maybe 5 out of the past 14 days... apparently, the internets does not likes it when the temperature goes from -21C and clear to 4C and raining in 8 hours >.>))

Vaughn stayed close to Andras as they continued to weave their way through the crowd, wondering silently to himself, not for the first time, if they were at the right place. Of course, no matter where one went, deals of questionable legality tended to go down where intoxicants were served, but... the young kalfa scampered away from two humans who'd spontaneously began to ... suck on each other's faces? Was that some kind of mating ritual or... wow...he shook his head and grimaced. Bios were odd. Needless to say, this place was a little more... wild, he guessed would be the right word, than what he was expecting. Some nice quiet place, with light music played by a live band, and soft lighting. Wasn't that what places like this were supposed to be like... not a massive dance floor? Or had he been reading the wrong files all along. As they neared a clear space at the far end of the room, Andras seemed to relax, tense shoulders and wings loosening up slightly, allowing Vaughn to breathe a sigh of relief. Okay, so things are going the way they're supposed to... he guessed. "So... uhh... we're good, or?"

Andras turned and leaned against a wall, eyes passing over the dizzying room's myriad occupants "I don't know, honestly..." he replied with a shrug "I was half expecting someone to come over and grab us along the way, but in a place like this, well..." he chucked "We don't exactly stand out as much as I had thought. So, we just wait and see what -"

FZZAT

And, realizing too late that leaving things up to chance and fate too often lead to the gods messing around for their own amusement, Andras dropped his head into his hands just as the lights shut out across the night club, causing a rather loud and confused panic to erupt among the occupants. Thankfully, the two kalfa were away from the exits, meaning the risk of being trampled was slim, but still, leaving things up to chance would just result in more "fun". Fear was both unpredictable and contagious, and Andras had no way of predicting how humans would react to fear and "Would you please stand up, Vaughn?"

The white kalfa, having collapsed to the ground underneath alongside the wall peeked up at his commander "But, we, and, they, and-"

"Because laying on the ground in a room full of panicking beings twice your height and three times your weight really does make prefect sense, you know, if you have the burning desire to be trampled..."

"I... uhh..."
Vaugh's ears drooped and he began scrambling back up"I... you're right, sorry... yes, I..."

Andras sighed and reached down, grabbing onto Vaughn's jacket and helping to haul the smaller kalfa back to his feet. "Just... try using both your brains, okay? Instead of just the 'run away and hide' one?"

Vaughn bit his lip and nodded "So... uhh... light?"

Andras nodded "This place is likely going to be emptying out pretty quickly, and whomever set this whole thing up will be making their move. We catch them, find out whats going on here, and we reevaluate our employment opportunities."

"I... uhh..." Vaughn blinked several times in confusion "What?"

"Always remain open to changing circumstances, V, and never limit yourself if you don't have to. Now, where's the glow?"

"Uhh, right!" Vaughn closed his eyes, and centred his psionic energy into the photonic emitter located on his right wrist, causing the biomechanical device to whir to life, creating a small, contained photonic emanation, or a ball of light in layman's terms. Vaughn opened his eyes, and raised the glowing orb above his head, his optical implant adjusting to the dim light it was giving off "Okay... uhh... let's see?"

Andras nodded, his own implant reacting in much the same way "Let's see..."

(No post from Alaina so...)

Chaos, that's what ensued in the room as more and more humanoids became discouraged at the lack of power and rushed to get out side from fear, buzzkill, lack of light or other unfathomable reasons.

Now Juno, disguised in his makeshift ninja costume snuck silently around the hallway he had just entered making his way carefully to the library room in back. All was going well, with no one behind him and because of his outfit of black on black in black and not failing a stealth role it was pretty much set.

set until...

Outside the library door stood one HUGE bouncer. Muscular, 9 feet tall, looking like he could crush a boulder with his bare hands, wearing a business suit and way to well paid to work at a place like this. Special hire, probably the client. Sneaking around him wasn't ideal so Juno tried a different approach.

"Y hallo there!"
He shouted, voice distorted from the spring cup, catching the bouncer off guard and ready to pummel where ever the voice came from.

"You shouldn't be allowed in this area, do you have an invitation?" Asked Mr. Meaty, as Juno had now mentally nick-named him.

"Yes, it's right here." Juno replied taking out a small white business card that he had swiped from his own DJ counter just before he left from the bathrooms, he only showed the blank back white side and reached his hand out to drop it in the Bouncer's open hand.

"Put 'er there"

Juno's left hand made contact with the guard and instantly a bolt of lightning traveled out zapping the guard in a quick instant with a bright flash and knocking out in a split second, leaving Juno holding his fake invitation and glancing at his ring with the smoking semi-precious stone, blowing his lips at the trail whisping off of it.

"Baka" he muttered as he made his way to the door, pausing momentarily to take out one of his bobby pins to pick the lock, and enter the library before him.

"Sorry I'm a little late, the traffic here was terrible!" He exclaimed, snatching a slightly scorched looking lemon from it's hiding place and pocketing it for later.

Taros turned his head from her, using all the willpower he had. Even the movement was slow and unsure as to whether that was the best idea or not. Sometimes he wished he had less self control. Normally he wouldn't give a shit either way, but this was Inali, she was different than any other girl he had known. Just hearing that thought in his head made him sort of ill. He wasn't a mooshy person at all. He could still tease her though some right?

He lowered his head next to her ear and gave a heavy breath for one moment then spoke. He could feel her give shiver in response to him so close to her.

"We need to find where we're supposed to go. Before the clients flee like the rest of these people." Inali's breath went out of her fast. She narrowed her eyes at him as he pulled away. She couldn't believe him! What an ass. The smile couldn't stay off of her face however. He had resisted her, she was pissed, but it was good to see he was worth a fight.

What?! How could she think that about him? They were just partners. That's all.

The Kitsune was distracted from her thoughts as he pulled her towards a hallway nearby still blocking her from the people running by. He admired the chaos for a moment. He wished he had done that instead. He always admired a good mobscene. It was an art creating one. Inali was one who could cause one pretty easily. He looked at her again then turned away pushing her into the hallway.

She caught herself on the wall, she finally had room to breathe. Damn humans constantly panicking over the littlest thing. Just because it was dark suddenly didn't mean monsters popped up. She smirked to herself. Well sometimes it did. She handed some of the glow sticks to Taros. Well more shoved them in his direction. She still had a little fire of anger and lust towards him. She would resolve it the way they normally did. Play fighting.

"Do you even know where you're going?" Taros lifted his head to her and gave a huff in a deep voice.

"Please dear! I know where I'm going. I always do." He chuckled and started to search for their invitation in his pockets. He was sort of infamous for having too many random things in them. They moved down the hall slowly. Inali was holding her glow sticks up lighting the hallway and keeping her eyes on everything making sure it was empty. "Damn! Where did I put that thing." Inali sneered at him.

"I'm going to have to start carrying everything." He gave a light growl towards her. They reached the end of the hallway and she caught Taros by the elbow, he looked up at her instantly stopping the search through his pockets. "There's a side of beef waiting for us." Taros stood back to his full height rubbing the back of his head.

"Well, guess we won't need this?" He held up a ragged torn looking invitation at her. She moved behind him though getting a knife she had concealed ready. Her hand was on his back and they fell into formation easily. He pushed the door open slowly only finding people standing around. She peeked over his shoulder. Taros stood straight again and tried to keep a serious look on his face.

"Taros and Inali." He held the invitation up in his metal fingers and looked around the room.

There was one monster here, at least. And, to be honest, the willingness of these humans to break out into a panic when the darkness fell over them may very well have inadvertently kept Zom from going on a rampage out of frustration. If they hadn't panicked, the vampiress may never have gotten the chance to find the secret meeting area she was looking for without just forcing her way in, and that would have caused too much of a stir, spoiling everything. And, of course, she wouldn't have wanted to have made the trip all the way to Haviah for nothing.

To the benefit of everyone involved, that outcome had been averted. Now, she continued to follow the trail back through the doors. Eventually, she passed the place where the large bouncer had been knocked out. Stopping here momentarily, Zom siezed the chance to drag him off to the side and rifle through his pockets, but didn't find anything in them that caught her interest. Apparently, despite his fancy outfit, the guy knew better than to keep anything valuable on him while he was standing guard in a crowded room.

She didn't seem to be the only person paying attention to this door, though. A few other creatures were already going through. Not one to be left out, Zom stood up and followed them.

And now the library was quickly filling up with misfits. One pair of them actually seemed to have an invitation, though. The rest?

"Invitations?" she asked. "We don't need no stinking invitations."

A cocky grin on her face was daring anyone to try to make something of it. She may have rode other people's coattails getting in here, but she did have her own strengths, and getting rid of her wouldn't be very easy...

The two kalfa scanned the quickly clearing room, but whatever they were looking for wasn't showing itself to them. Finally, Andras growled slightly and shook his head "Well, this sucks..." he muttered, before raising his voice slightly so that Vaughn could understand him "Looks like whatever job opportunity we accepted here is fled and gone... right. Best be getting back to-"

"Uhh...boss?" Vaughn cut him off before he could finish, and pointed towards the curious site of someone dragging something through the shadows. It was almost impossible to make out, bare ripples in the kalfa's augmented vision, but it was what they were looking for

"Excellent job, V, excellent job." Andras grinned and rubbed his hands together. The little guy might be a nervous train wreck with zero self-confidence, but he was crazy lucky, which made him more than useful to have around. "Now, why don't you put out your glow there and say hello to the good sir and or madam and of xizilpiq."

Vaughn nodded and as Andras hopped over the railing and headed over to meet the mysterious blob-like figure, he flicked his wrist, dissipating the glowing orb into fading strands of wispy photons. As the glow died, the only remaining illumination in the room, aside from whatever scare emergency lighting there was, came from the glow of the two kalfa's components. Not the best adaptation, particularly for stealth, but neither of their lines were designed with sneaking in mind.

As they made their way down the shadowed hallway, they heard voices. "Well now..." Andras grinned as he made his way towards the origin of the sound, psionic aura rippling slightly around him as he readied himself for the possibility of unpleasantness. Moments later, Andras rounded a corner... and nearly rammed into the back of the humanoid standing there, defiantly announcing her arrival.

"We?" he looked about in confusion, just as Vaughn, unprepared for his commander's sudden stop plowed into Andras' back, sending the two kalfa tumbling past the female humanoid to land somewhat inside the increasingly more crowded room. "Ooph!" "Whaa-" *THUD* "Ohh... gods dammit"
