Dark Rebirth ((open!))
« on: September 25, 2007, 01:27:46 pm »
The Tuor Ocean...once a shoreline paradise, now a murky ocean of volatile waste. This is where the stuff of nightmares comes from. The ocean and its shoreline became infected with toxic waste dumped off from the city of Aedolis, and all of those wastes combined to form one horrible mutagen. This mutagen killed much of the ocean's denizens who could not withstand such a powerful poison. Whatever it could not kill, it disfigured and mutated into horrifying forms, twisting them into mindless abominations. Now, not even the hardiest of warriors dare not venture near it, afraid of the effects that the waste could have on them.

Yet one man dared to venture near its toxic shorelines, uncaring of the venomous odor the ocean gave off and the sludge-like sand sloshing on his black robes. He was here for one purpose only; he was under the orders by his recently escaped god, Kuma, to use his dying breath to resurrect Kuma's three most elite soldiers. And he did this with undying loyalty. He spread his arms wide and allowed himself to be consumed by the crashing waves of the ocean of poison. His body drifted out to sea, and eventually sank into the toxic abyss.

Deep in the ocean floor, bones, flesh, and mechanical parts emerged from the sludge and spun around in the shape of a globe. The fragments then merged together into three figures more horrifying than most of the mutants dwelling in the water. Then, three sets of yellow pupil-less eyes lit up the murky water and ascended the depths at high speed.

The toxic water roiled violently, its bubbles sending out toxic clouds as they burst. A giant tsunami formed and crashed into the shoreline with great force, sending waste far inland and causing more destruction to the already-desecrated beach and plains. When the water receded, three figures stood on the water's edge. But these figures weren't human.

They were abominations, seemingly half serpentine humanoid and half machine. They shared the same basic body features; hunched backs, steel masks, powerful arms, and scaly black skin dotted with mechanical parts, but overall, they were different from each other, though horrifying all the same. One had white markings on its skin, four mechanical legs ending in bladed tips, a tail, white hair, and a giant spire-like horn, and was carrying a spear with the swordlike blade split down the middle. Another had sea green markings, sea-green hair, scorpion-like claws dripping with poison, a quilled back, and a circular mouth lined with many rows of teeth. And the last was marked in red, carried a staff with a flaming tip, red-haired, and seemed to be glowing with heat.

"We're...alive," the white-marked one groaned, its voice deep with an edge like metal. "...Gaidoku, how long...has it been?"

"I'm not sure, Kyoukou," the green one named Gaidoku hissed like a metallic snake. "Perhapssss...three thoussssand yearsssss."

"You are sure of this?" the red, glowing one growled like a lion of steel.

"I am quite ccccccertain, Yuuku," Gaidoku hissed.

"Perhaps Kuma still saw usefulness in us," Kyoukou spoke.

"Then let us proceed with his wishes."

"I agree, comrade. Let us return to Connlaoth...or what is become of it."

The three abominations then proceeded to walk, spreading a chill of darkness as they did.

Vulcan, trying to get a sense of this world had wandered just close enough to the ocean to get a whiff of its fumes--and chose to come no closer. It seemed he didn't actually need any of his organs to continue functioning to allow him to continue 'living' as he was, but he was far more comfortable when, for example, his lungs were not seared with toxic waste.

There was nothing about him that seemed so formidable, at least not something that could be pinpointed. Most humans, and even some vampires, found him a little intimidating up close. His gaze was intense, even when he didn't mean it to be. Something about marigold eyes, ringed in crimson made it hard to maintain eye contact.

Hearing the tsunami crash onto the beach, and making sure he was out of splash range, he paused to listen to the newly arrived voices. He picked up the metallic sound of their cyborg parts and puzzled over it for a moment. Metal people? Robots? No, that wasn't quite right. He'd never actually met a cyborg to his knowledge, so it did not pop readily to mind.

The peculiar chill spread over him as he found himself in their path. His first instinct was to spring up a tree, but he found none, so he turned to face them, thinking perhaps they would simply pass by. He'd done nothing wrong. They had no cause to harm him, and he had no cause to suspect them, other than instinct-- which while often overly cautious, was not often outright wrong.

The three mutants continued to stalk through the forest, talking all the while.

"I have not killed anything in a long time," Gaidoku hissed. "I need to kill ssssssomething."

"Indeed," Kyoukou said. "After three thousand years of death, we have a lot of catching up to do."

"Well, if you want to kill somthing, here is your chance to do so," Yuuku growled. "Look." He pointed his gun-arm ahead of him, at a seemingly human person with unusual-colored eyes.

"Mmh...sssssoundssss fun," Gaidoku hissed. "We do not want to get russsssssty."

"Yes..." Kyoukou said. Suddenly, crackles of lightning lit up on his horn, and a giant bolt of it towards the stranger.

Electricity. It had been one of the more painful ways he had died in his life. He lept out of the way as best he could, but got clipped on the shoulder, and the current shot down his arm, sending pain through many nerves and short circuting the motor function temporarily.

"Killing for sport....how quaint" Vulcan said sarcastically, red slowly bleeding through the gold of his eyes as he stood to his feet and regained the use of his arm, though still painful.

"Hmm...a quicker reaction than expected," Kyoubou growled.

"Pleasssssssssse," Gaidoku hissed annoyingly. He then leaped for the man with poison-soaked claws forward and leech-like mouth open wide.

Vulcan had a particular adversion to poisons. They didn't tend to kill him, but they were very unpleasant. He'd never encountered venom though, so he wasn't entirely sure what his body would do if it entered his bloodstream, but he didn't care to find out either. From the smell of it, he suspected it was fairly dangerous.

"Machines drink blood?" He said in surprise as he scrambled to get out of the way, but was slowed as his nerves were still misfiring from the shock, and his leg had a spasm, sending him sprawling for an instant before he flipped onto his feet, hoping he was fast enough to get clear of the claws coming after him.

Gaidoku's aim was true as he pounced on top of the man, pinning him to the ground. He dug one claw into the ground next to him, and as he did, the poison dripping from his claws spread outward, withering all that lay in its wake.

"Mmmh...I do not drink blood, man," Gaidoku hissed. "I drink energy and magic." Gaidoku then opened his mouth wide, showing the many rows of teeth in the gaping maw. He then lunged for the bite.

"Well, I don't have anything for you" Vulcan grunted, the gold now gone from his eyes, replaced with red as he bared his fangs and attempted to ward off the rather intimidating mouth bearing down on him. Finding machine harder to wrestle than most humanoids, his wings shot out of his back in a last ditch effort to spring him from the ground and escape from the clutches of the creature. He hadn't used them in a while as they'd been ripped off a few too many times in his lifetime (btw, feel free to add to the count).

Feeling it was likely easier to regenerate a hand than it was to regenerate anything else after being sucked of his energy, he attempted to free a hand to punch it straight in the mouth.

It had been a very long time indeed since he had encountered something that could pin him.

Gaidoku's grip somewhat slipped as the man freed his hand and aimed a punch for his mouth. "Hhhnn...pathetic,". he hissed as he opened his mouth wide. The fist sailed right in and Gaidoku chomped down on it hard, his many teeth severing the hand right off. He then leaped off of the man, chewing on the hand all the while. "Hmmm...even after three thoussssand yearssssss, I sssstill remember the tasssssste of human flesh," he said. "...But yoursssss hassssss a different tassssste to it."

Vulcan paled slightly as his wound gushed blood before lava burbled up from the ground at his feet and he plunged his stump into it, cauterizing it as best he could. His flesh didn't burn, but the heat dried the blood and let it scab over.

He was angry, and one hand short, but even so, he sprang to his feet with surprising speed. "Yeah, I'm poison, didn't you know?" Vulcan quipped, keeping an eye on the trio. He wasn't going to let any of them get within reaching distance of him again. Hmm, encasing them in lava seemed highly enticing...

Gaidoku paused. Then his mouth began to burn like hell. He screeched an inhuman, metallic screech as he spit out the half-chewed hand. "AUGH! IT BURNSSSSS! IT BURRRRNNNNSSSSSS!" he screamed.

"Comrade!" Kyoubou cried out, rushing to his partner's aid.

"No! You will pay for your insolence!" Yuuku growled as he began to glow with heat, the air rippling about him. He then set both yellow eyes onto the man's eyes and glared. An energy unlike any other--invisible, but deadly--emanated from those eyes as Yuuku sent a powerful brain wave towards the man. Yuuku knew that the man will not escape, for he will be paralyzed in fear thanks to this glare.

Vulcan was highly amused by the reaction to his hand. He wouldn't have thought it would burn, but he had been fairly sure that his highly aged vampire blood couldn't be good, but with as many times as he had managed to ingest poison in one way or another, it did make sense.

Unlike most creatures, Vulcan's paralysis wasn't due to fear, but none the less, his body stopped responding to his instructions. His mind however, did not cease. The planet trembled beneath them.

Yuuku kept staring down at the man as he slowly approached him, his body heat rippling the air around him. He pointed his kinetic rifle at the man's throat. "I hope you enjoy Hell," he said as he fired.

As the shot penitrated his throat, his hold on his powers broke. An earth quake wracked the earth, lava shot up around them as Vulcan lay there, bleeding, unable to even apply pressure to the wound. Vulcan's mental voice rang out What is your purpose?

As the lava shot up around them, Kyoubou reacted quickly by creating a field of lightning around him and his comrades to protect them from the lava that rained down upon them. As the three listened to his dying words, Yuuku let out a deep breath. "To serve our god...we were created for the sole purpose of following his demands. And we will continue to do so, even after three thousand years of death, and we shall silence anyone who gets in our way," he growled as the three moved out of the rain of lava before Kyoubou's shield gave way.

Once safe from the flow of lava, Yuuku asked Gaidoku, "Are you alright, comrade?"

"Mmmyesssssss...juss ssssssst bitter issss all," Gaidoku said as he spit out some of the teeth that had been caught in that acidic blood. Almost immediately, new teeth grew in their place.

"He received what he deserved," Kyoubou said. Now we must head for Connlaoth...or what has become of it.

With that, the three headed in the direction of what they thought to be Connlaoth.

Vulcan watched them go, eventually passing out, to the sounds of the lava hissing as it reached the ocean and was quickly cooled by the lapping waves. Biologically, he was dead, his heart was not beating, blood was not flowing, and his brain activity had ceased, but even so, It would only be hours before his body managed to heal the neck wound and allow him to become mobile again; but It could be months before he regrew his hand...if he was able to do so at all. It had been a gamble.

A tall man around his mid-thirties approached the half-dead vamp and grinned evilly "well well what do we have here? a new subject for me perhaps, Sarane!" he yelled calling for his servant "Yes master Muraki" the gray haired girl said "call the lab and tell them I have foud a new research subject" ruby eyes traveled to the man who already looked dead. "Is that it master?" "OF COURSE IT IS YOU STUPID GIRL NOW GO!" Yenzen Muraki shouted as the  girl scampered off. He bent down next to the vamp "When i'm done with you you're going to wish you were dead" the insane researcher chuckled. A white van pulled up and a team of men in orange jumpsuits came out and put the creature on a strecher locking his limbs so he wouldn't escape. As the van drove away Muraki walked to his own car and started the engine "what do you think master?" the 13yr old asked "I think this is the perfect specimen to try out my new idea" the man  laughed insanely and drove after the van.
