Physical Description
Her eyes have been enhanced by ocular implants. She has customizable robotic prosthetic legs and a customizable robotic prosthetic right arm. She’s very pale - always has been - and burns rather than tans, making personal shields a necessity. She changes her hair color often.

Personality
She likes adventure and sweets. She’s an explorer at heart. Sometimes she likes cute boys; sometimes…she also likes cute girls. Sometimes she likes both! She hated her prosthetics for a long time; then she was just annoyed by them. Finally, she accepted them and figured she might as well make them stylish. ‘cause if you can have claws, why wouldn’t you have claws, you PLEBIAN?! She…gets bored easily. That’s why she’s constantly changing her hair color, why she prefers adventuring to mechanical stuff, and why she’s never had a partner for more than a few months. She gets bored. And when she gets bored, she gets unpredictable…which, ironically, is somewhat predictable.

Oh, and don’t EVER fuck with Rabbit (her robot friend & partner in crime adventure). This little friend of hers has surprising functionality and adaptability, can upgrade and repair itself, and is basically the god of robots. And rabbits. And (almost) the only constant in Lexi’s life.

Lexi’s the kind of person who’s always doing something. She HATES just waiting around doing nothing. Even if it’s something casual, she’s gotta be doing something or she’ll get bored faster than usual.

Lexi has to be positive. She has to be. If she’s not positive, she spirals. She has flashbacks to the incident that took her legs and her arm from her, and it took her a while to climb out of her depression after she was released from the hospital. She’s not the type to be malicious, but she can be vindictive; she tries not to be, though. It’s not that she’s high-energy; it’s just that she tries to be a good person and tries to stay on the sunny side of things, so to speak. She would never want to seriously hurt anyone, including herself, but everyone has a dark side. She doesn’t wanna know what hers might be like.

Magic/Abilities
So, first we have to talk about the elephant in the room. Yes, it’s true: she has no legs and no right arm. She does, however, have prosthetic adaptation implant devices (i.e. PAIDs) that she likes to customize. The prosthetics are damn near indestructible but the downside is that she can’t feel anything below the implants. This…can cause problems sometimes. On the plus side, they’re watertight and shielded to prevent damage or interference from things like radiation (not that it doesn’t affect the rest of her, of course), caustic substances, extreme temperatures and their logical results, EMPs, et cetera. They’re put out by BioTech Industries and completely customizable, so why not have a little fun with them? She’s stuck with them, after all. It’s either that or…y’know…be useless. And who wants that?

Before her…incident…Lexi was a gymnast. She was quite talented and on her way to stardom, but…well, things happened. Once she got used to her prosthetics and finally began to crawl out of the funk they put her in, she started practicing again. The prosthetics, even the slimmer and lightweight ones, are a bit clunky; while she’s regained her flexibility, her skill as a gymnast has suffered a little as a result. She could still compete - if it weren’t against the anti-enhancement rules - but whether she could be as outstanding as she was is debatable. They’re also hard to get into a lot of clothing, so she’s had to adjust her wardrobe a bit; she used to wear much tighter and more aerodynamic stuff due to her gymnastics, but now she just can’t.

While she isn’t necessarily a genius - or maybe she IS…maybe…she has learned a lot about mechanical stuff just by tinkering. Her true technological talent, however, lies in computers and hacking in particular. She also practiced a lot with pistols, something her dad taught her years ago.

Oh, yes…the most important thing…well, things. Lexi stopped aging about a decade ago but more importantly, her voice can hit notes that humans just…can’t. These notes have multiple effects, depending on how they’re used. They can inspire, they can placate, they can frighten…they can enrage…while her voice isn’t hypnotic in and of itself, singing specific notes that only she and her kind can sing can solve problems as well as cause them. She can also “breathe” underwater, her skin absorbing oxygen and nitrogen and processing it very quickly; her body recycles air, though it’s not an unlimited process, allowing her to go without oxygen for a while if she’s properly prepared or enter a low-oxygen area (such as being underwater) and remain there for a long time.

Relationships
Ellis Essex: Elder brother; only living relative. Also a prat. And kind of a bully. Basically, he’s boring.

History
Doing a show in a frontier town is always dangerous. People get rowdy, people get physical, people get…touchy…Lexi no like touchy. In a frontier town called Meteor Mine, you get all kinds of people - only a handful of them nice. Extracting precious minerals is big business, after all, and you don’t exactly hire high-class socialites to rip apart a planet from the inside. It’s dirty, dangerous work but somebody’s gotta do it.

And somebody’s gotta entertain. That somebody was Lexi. Her brother managed the business side of things while she performed a mix of ballet and gymnastics to charm and amaze. She wasn’t allowed to sing in the cities, but out on the frontier? No such rule. There was a reason she wasn’t allowed to sing, of course: riots tend to be unhealthy for entertainment venues, especially the nicer ones.

Exactly what happened in Meteor is unknown. Some say a riot broke out there that started a fire, which pushed everyone to be evacuated to the mine’s staging area since it was more secure; others say the venue changed at the last minute and something happened in the mine itself that caused the explosion. There are as many stories and theories as there were dollars flying into the governor’s pocket when he publicly announced his “aid” to the victims of the disaster. There were cover-ups, bribes, and who-knows-what-else. Whatever happened, Lexi got caught in the middle of it.

When the ground erupted, there was fire and burning metal and soil everywhere. The air itself was supposedly seared with the heat from the explosion, whether it came from above-ground somewhere or down in the mine. The town itself was tiny, barely fifty people inhabiting it when it was at its busiest, and the Meteor Mine explosion easily cut that number in half. Lexi’s brother was lucky to have escaped mostly unharmed. Lexi…was not so fortunate.

A big media storm was led by the governor himself as he actively sought to “help that poor, unfortunate girl and get her back on her legs and dancing again!” It was, admittedly, him that ultimately paid for her initial prosthetics - but only after Lexi’s brother came very close to driving the man into bankruptcy and disgrace about his shoddy business practices and cheap short-cuts by threatening to go public…and then refusing to take a hint when he was threatened in turn. It became something of a silent cold war until the governor finally broke and helped her as he said he would, rather than just bolstering his own reputation by pretending to. The settlement the Essex family was quietly paid also helped to shut them up. Lexi had to pay for her own ocular implants, however; her eyes were damaged by the blinding light from the fires that raged after the explosion.

More than ten years have passed since that incident. Lexi sank into a deep depression that lasted for several years before her brother finally helped her pull herself out of it. Her brother used his share of the money to start his own small equipment and project financing company rather than continuing to manage the finances for others. But the media frenzy surrounding the Meteor Mine explosion, while some have forgotten it, is still remembered by the survivors and those who followed the story.

Inventory
  • Anti-Magic Incendiary: These grenades put out a localized AMP, or anti-magic pulse, that “shocks” all magic in its hundred-foot radius. This effectively shuts down anything magical. While there is some technology that’s shielded against AMPs, it’s better to either not be utilizing magic or to have anything magical shut down if you’re caught in its radius. Worse, the initial explosion puts out a massive amount of heat, setting flammable objects on fire. These are illegal to carry in the city by non-security personnel.
  • Ion Pulsar Pistol: While illegal to carry in a city, it’s not technically outlawed beyond them. The magazines loaded into this pistol are filled with unstable, highly charged liquid contained by the internally electromagnetically charged magazines themselves; when the safety is switched off, a solid round is almost immediately “primed” and remains so until the gun is fired. In addition to the size of the wounds caused by this weapon, the wounds themselves are severely burned and magnetized, drawing iron out of the blood. While one wound may not be fatal if, say, you’re shot in the shoulder…several shots to the arm could easily kill someone. However, the rounds are extremely effective against anything with energy running through it - such as robots. And machinery. It’s suspected by Lexi that magitech is infused into the design of the gun to keep everything stable, though that’s never been confirmed by the shady weapons dealer she buys things from.
  • Multifunctional Environmental Scanning System (MESS): This handheld device can absorb ambient energy, including magic, to keep itself functioning. It acts both as a bioscanner and as a signal analyzer and can be fine-tuned to look for anything that puts out some kind of signal or has some kind of energy running through it. It can also be used to detect a variety of minerals and other substances, making it a vital tool in many professions but especially mining, scavenging, and similar resource-gathering jobs.
  • Rabbit: Not an actual rabbit. It’s a neat little robot that Lexi found in a junkyard a couple years ago and fixed up. It needed a lot of work but the personality chip was still intact and functional. New receivers, new servos, modified “feet”, an upgraded power cell, not to mention rewiring and soldering and buffing and polishing…ahem. Rabbit has a surprising number of functions available. Numerous small tools on a wheel that extends from its “mouth” allow it to be flexible and utilitarian not only when fixing something, but also when scavenging. Its “eyes” have both photographic and video capabilities of high quality and even have several visual modes including night vision, thermal imaging, and blacklight. It can store several terabytes of data, has some insane encryption and digital security, and is protected both by light armor plating and a personal shield. It can project this shield to another object or even person or animal, but the cost is that it can’t protect itself and something or someone else at the same time. It’s able to go just about anywhere and can even utilize an electromagnet to cling to certain surfaces. And Lexi LOVES her Rabbit.
  • Recon Implants: While Lexi never had bad vision beyond a little near-sightedness, the visual acuity afforded her by her ocular implants is astonishing. She can actually zoom in or out, swap to an infrared mode, and even bring up information about anything or anyone that surrounds her just by focusing on it. The information that comes up is limited to what her brain can process, of course. They can’t interface with anything, which would make hacking SO much easier, but the benefits outweigh the detriments. Her vision can be whited out but it must be done very quickly to overcome the implants’ adaptability.

Personality

Magic/Abilities
Rixxil can breathe oxygen as well as most toxic gases and fumes, including smog and smoke; can hold their breath for a long time (cannot breathe underwater); is immune to most poisons & diseases, and resistant to the ones they aren’t immune to; and is empathically bonded to the Flying Swamp. They’re a skilled shot with a pistol and an exceptional swimmer. They also have a piecemeal sort of engineering knowledge and are a font of (mostly useless) knowledge in general.

Relationships

History
Ever heard of Murkulix? Nah? Well, not surprising, really…most folks haven’t. It’s a backwater world, both literally and figuratively. It’s got a red dwarf star it orbits; planet itself is massive but only about the central quarter of it’s actually solid. Murkulix is mostly a gas giant, and its core consists mostly of dark swampland. The planet has three moons - Murkulix One, Two, and Three - that orbit the planet. They’re dead moons; no natural resources, no life at all, not even toxic gas; they’re just balls of a green metal called murkulinium that’s almost completely useless. It has one very specific value: when exposed to the extremely toxic atmosphere of Murkulix, a reaction causes it to start producing plants.

Sometimes a chunk of murkulinium breaks off for one reason or another and gets sucked into Murkulix. The growth is very slow, but placing murkulinium in the water on Murkulix’s core radically increases the growth rate. With careful planning and guidance, murkulinium - called murkulite when it’s been organically exposed - can be cultivated into living vessels that can burn Murkulix’s gaseous atmosphere for fuel. However, this just gets the vessels going. Once they’re in space, they can use almost anything - and that has created a spacefaring culture of scavengers and trash collectors.

The murkuliska have most closely been compared by humans to frogs and toads. Their life cycles are very similar but they’re very long-lived under Murkulix’s unique conditions. For this reason, they spend as little time outside their vessels or homeworld as possible. They can shift their gender at will, altering both their physical sex and the resultant mindset, prompting them to use the term gender for both rather than dividing the concepts between biology and psychology as humans do. They reproduce asexually, laying eggs that hatch into tadpoles and ultimately grow into murkuliska. The eggs, once they’ve broken open, provide vital sustenance for hatchlings. There are usually about a dozen hatchlings per birth cycle, and each murkulisk has three birth cycles in their lifetime. The problem is that roughly ten percent of the population are infertile when they mature, and most of the fertile murkuliska remain on Murkulix while many of the infertile leave to explore. The goal is to eventually return to Murkulix in order to share their stories, but this sadly doesn’t always happen.

Rixxil and their twin, Rillix, are both infertile. They went their separate ways in their youth but are always happy to swap stories during their rare but inevitable meet-ups. Rixxil’s vessel serves as a low-cost garbage barge for whoever can pay, and the garbage that isn’t burned for their own fuel is sold off at a much higher price than what they were paid to haul it away in the first place. But Rixxil also acts as a smuggler, hiding cargo aboard their vessel for a time and transporting it to a desired location for a tremendous fee. Organic vessels from Murkulix are notoriously unmappable as they’re constantly growing and shifting, though the growth slows over time, making navigation inside them nigh impossible for anyone but one of the murkuliska themselves. This makes them the perfect smuggling vessels.

Pulled a heist and need to stash the goods until the whole thing blows over? Need to transport them to a safe harbor only you know about? Who better than a murkulisk to take care of your things for a while? They’ll only watch them, don’t worry; they’re not thieves. They don’t see the point in stealing. But they do see the point in trust. Without trust, how can there be a bond between peoples?

Murkuliska love telling stories but they only share their experiences and knowledge with people they trust. For this reason, they’re also considered the perfect keepers of secrets if you need to pass information this way and that. They never tell a secret unless they trust someone completely, even under extreme duress - and they have a very high pain tolerance.

Murkuliska can also breathe the most toxic fumes and smog and smoke you can imagine as easily as humans breathe air - and they can breathe that as well. They’re immune to just about any poison or disease you can come up with, or at least highly resistant. Strangely, fertile murkuliska produce a lethal neurotoxin that is excreted through their skin; it is slick to the touch but quickly hardens like glue when it leaves their skin. Its effects are unpredictable, as even among multiple individuals of the same species, they are rarely the same. But the effects are always deadly in the end, with brief contact being lethal after about ten minutes or so.

Despite their natural defenses and rather hefty knack for survivability, including their longevity, murkuliska are no less mortal than any other species in the universe. They just have a few more advantages than a lot of folks. But ultimately, they’re not bad people. They’re social creatures and their emotions don’t tend to get too extreme very often; some have even called them mellow or easy-going. They can be just as dangerous as any other traveler, of course, but their relatively calm demeanor can seriously put people off their guard. In general, though, most just consider them “friendly”.

So, why don’t you tell ol’ Rixxil a story and we’ll see if we can’t do business, hm?

Flying Swamp
Like all murkuliskan vessels, the Flying Swamp was grown entirely from a chunk of murkulite exposed to the atmospheric conditions of the planet. It has a very squid-like design, several “tentacles” extending from the front of the vessel; they are prehensile and equipped with tactile EMPs, allowing them to shut down any electrical signal or current running through or emitted by ships that they are able to latch onto. The “head” of the vessel houses the bulk of the vessel’s interior. Multiple engines have been grown with exterior ports, allowing each belch out foul and toxic smoke; all of the engines are linked to a refinery housed deep inside the vessel, allowing them to be fed from a single location.

View ports grown along the vessel’s exterior would be murky if not for advanced scanning and sensor integration. Adapting technology into the design of each murkuliskan vessel allows individual vessels to be unique even compared to the similarity in their collective growth process, and the pFlying Swamp is no different. While it is exceedingly hot and humid inside the ship, gases toxic to non-murkuliska also flood the corridors and cabins; this means that there is very little, if any, oxygen to be found aboard a murkuliskan vessel. The exterior also seems to be covered with many varieties of moss and vines in shades of green and brown, and strange mushrooms have been known to grow sporadically along the surface as well; these mushrooms can be stimulated to release huge clouds of deadly spores that block scanners and sensors as well as visual acuity. Hidden in several spots, however, are even deadlier weapons: pulsar cannons of mixed organic and technological design that can punch rather large holes in a hull.

Inside the front of the vessel, at the base of the tentacles, is an accelerator shaft that rapidly and dramatically increases the velocity of outgoing vehicles launched from the hangar connected to it inside the vessel. Cargo is loaded and unloaded from one of two separate side bays. The collection apparatus beneath the vessel consists of large-scale mining equipment, tractor beams, electromagnets, and mechanical claws that can be shut away while in flight.

The living quarters, of course, mimic the enclosed swamp grottos back on Murkulix. Much of the rest of the vessel also mimics Murkulix, with creeping vines and plants and mushrooms growing everywhere; fungus and moss of all sorts line the walls, much of it bioluminescent; and corridors and walkways are constructed of tree trunks and interlocking vines, creating paths thicker than the vessel’s owner and sturdier than an iron asteroid. The vessel is, of course, a living entity and is surprisingly intelligent; it has bonded with its owner and will not respond to anyone but them.

PLAYER WANTS

What types of plots are you interested in playing?
Dunno yet.

What types of plots are you not interested in playing?
I dunno...um...love triangles? Those can get way complicated way fast. I'll update this as I think of more things.

How often can you reply to any given thread?
I guarantee nothing but I try to stay fairly active if I'm involved in something.

What is the longest you're willing to wait for a reply to a thread?
Not sure. Case-by-case.

Are you open to RPing over instant messengers? If so, what's the best way to contact you and what times are you generally available?
Not big on chat RP. I've done it; I just prefer forums.

Are you open to post volleying?
Not sure, honestly; I put too much detail into most of my posts to make it work.

Anything else?
I'm bi irl and very rarely play purely cis/straight characters. Of course, this mostly applies to humanoid characters. Alien characters are...weird. I like 'em, but...well, they're weird.

PLAYER LIMITS

What are you limits regarding powerplay/godmoding?
(For instance, do you mind if someone grabs your character? Picks them up? Punches them?)

What are your limits in regards to romantic situations?
I prefer someone asks before they do something like that, especially if it's something major. I'm usually leery of it and try to avoid it myself, though.

What are your limits in regards to sex?
I don't necessarily want to play out or go into detail with such things but I'm definitely not a prude.

What are your limits in regards to pregnancy within plots?
Not really my thing. Not gonna block it, but that's more for others than me.

What are your limits in regards to violent scenes?
I enjoy violence well enough. I've written some fairly graphic characters over the years.

What are your limits in regards to abuse/rape in plots?
This would be extremely case by case. For things dealing with children, references are about as far as I think it should go. For example, I had a character once that was abused as a kid (all I'm gonna say there), and it came out once or twice in reference but I never went into detail about it for what should be obvious reasons. So I don't really have a problem with the worst part of drama existing as long as it's not focused on too heavily. As to adults, I've written characters that have been SAed in their backstories, but I've never written it myself.

Are you okay with characters being transformed against their will?
Case-by-case. I love werewolves and vamps, honestly, but it's admittedly a major change to the character. It's one thing if it's temporary - Draco getting transfigured was HILARIOUS in the HP books - but more permanent transformations need to be discussed.

What about healing?
(For instance, if someone plays a blind character they may not want people to try and "cure" the character.)

Anything else?
Since this is less fantasy and more modern/futuristic, I'll probably be a lot freer with my sailor's tongue should my character be the kind to channel it. I've come up with words like trollsnot in the past for fantasy genres, but the generalized eras imply pre-modern language and...well, point being, expect profanity. Also, while I am a fade to black kind of guy for the most part, that's not to say things can't get a little heavy. Basically what it boils down to is ask first and let's see where it goes. A lot of things are cool by me, but a lot of things are also case by case. As I said above, I've written some fairly graphic characters, so...yeah.
