Plotting Center / Demon in orbit
« on: March 10, 2022, 03:38:20 pm »
Sami, a demon and asset of TRIM, is now loose and in orbital freefall through the star system.  They are likely in some kind of life pod, in orbital freefall around the sun and could reasonably end up anywhere in inhabited space.

As an aside, there is no stealth in space, so whoever finds the pod may become a target of TRIM...

Wanderers and Independents
Sami, Infernal Parasite: A prototype living weapon crafted by Thanatos INC.  A demon with a human host.  Trying to figure out how to human.

3
A recent joiny from SotE here and I had the idea to port a character from there into the future.  For reference: Sami the Ancient Infernal Parasite.  While developing this plan, I hit upon the idea that they would end up in the hands of Thanatos INC with the group providing a host for Sami the demon to graft themself to.

Obviously this host, to some extent, would have their own history in the RotE universe and I thought it might be an interesting opportunity for Sami if their host turned out to be important to an established character, such that the Character and Sami might be drawn into conflict over the fate of the host.

If anyone is interested in losing a loved one to a cosmic horror, let me know, and we can work something out.

EDIT: I have since built by own host; she's of vague origin so she's still open to affording me a nemesis.  Feel free to PM me with ideas.

Wanderers and Independents / Sami; Ancient Infernal Parasite
« on: November 23, 2020, 05:17:29 pm »
Name: Sami (Assumed name) (TRIM ID: CE-1)
Age: Unknown; medieval origin
Gender: N/A (Feminine host)
Species: Amorphous Fiend
Ethnicity: N/A (Aedolian-mixed host)
Height: Varies (5'5" Host)
Occupation: Parasite
Residence:

Physical Description
On their own, Sami would look like a writhing black sludge, sprouting eyes and teeth as it sought to resemble...somethin g, though only it could know what.

To survive in the mortal world, though, Sami prefers to take a host, grafting itself to the base of their skull and the length of their spinal column.  In this state, Sami resembles an obsidian-black spinal graft, mimicking the shape of the host's vertebrae and acting as an external brace against shock or injury.

After a series of tests and experiments to see the best way to graft the entity to a humanoid host, Sami has settled into the body of a young woman.  This vessel is slight, with only shallow curves and toned muscles.  They also have fair skin and brown-black hair falling to the should and obscuring the upper portion of their neck.  Though the vessel's eyes are naturally brown, they have since turned an amber yellow, with the vessels in her sclera turned black by Sami's presence.  An attractive face, with thin lips and a straight nose, was chosen to help Sami avoid hostile scrutiny when on missions.

The host has been grafted with ports at the wrists to allow Sami to extend from the host's extremities without being seen before.  The host also exhibits a number of body modifications in line with popular trends in Aedolis; a floral tattoo sleeve covers their left arm, and a blue-black choker wraps around their neck.  They also show vague signs of piercings in their ears, nose and other locations, but these mods have since been removed and holes of mostly closed.

Personality
Sami, given their lack of a history and fundamentally alien origin can come off as a truly inhuman.  Detached and lacking in affect, they seem unfazed by the issues of the world at large.  This is by design; Thanatos INC envisions Sami, and entities like them as a line of living weapons, that can be sold to the various factions of the system.

Despite this, Sami is naturally (or "supernaturally") curious, finding elements of mortal society fascinating and seems to enjoy interacting with others when the opportunity presents itself though they can easily shrug off long periods of isolation.

Magic Abilities
  • Hellspawn - Explicitly of infernal origin, Sami bears many of the strengths and vulnerabilities of other demons.  Demoncraft is known to exert some control over the entity, even after taking a host.
  • Possession - Due to the being's parasitic nature, Sami must attach itself to a host to survive.  Sami's effective intelligence is based on the relative sentience of the hijacked architecture.
  • Black Blood - Sami can use their host's circulatory system to extend throughout their body without affecting the host's epidermis.  This is normally done by infiltrating the host's spinal veins and using the heart as a conduit.  TRIM researchers have termed this "Full Integration."
  • Shapeshifting - Their non-static nature allows Sami to sculpt themselves into a plethora of shapes to suit their specific need.  At Full Integration, Sami can even project out of grafted ports over blood vessels and fashion itself into cloths and weapons.  The host itself cannot be remodeled.
  • Physical Enhancement - At Full Integration, Sami has merged with hosts Musculoskeletal system, allowing them to reinforce the host body with superior strength and durability.
  • Host: Telepathy (Tier 2) - A psychic ability pertaining to interaction with people, animals and plants.  They were also rated as an Empath in their former life.
Relationships
  • "Nameless" - Sami's human host; scrubbed out of the Aedolian pilot program during Phase 3, before being acquired by Thanatos INC.
  • "Overlord" - Demonlord and Sami's handler; location unknown, presumed dead.

History
Long ago, in the ancient empire of Adela, a young man sought to make a pact with a demon.  The creature born of this call took the man's arm as tribute and the pair exacted his bloody revenge.  Still, in time the man grew old, as mortals were prone to do and after many years, he succumbed to the ravages of time, body taken by his now mindless companion.

Old tales and urban legends may have inspired various individuals and groups to hunt for the entity until, within the past several decades, the creature's acquisition by Thanatos.  The research and manufacturing group, relying on old grimoires and internal study, sought to employ their new project as a tool for assassination and instigation, with no mind or will of its own.

However, this only remained true while the creature was bound under pact.  Whether by intent or accident, the pact was severed, and the demon and their host were lost, despite the corporation's ongoing search for their lost property...

Only one thing seems to have been preserved by the creature's mind - a single ancient name for it to cling to: 'Samuel.'

Wants and Limits / Kingfisher: Wants and Limits

PLAYER WANTS

What types of plots are you interested in playing?
I'm fairly adaptive.  Character building and combat can all play into complex narratives and I don't necessarily want to rule anything out.

What types of plots are you not interested in playing?
Hard to say; I like to keep my options open.  I think my greatest weakness is likely romance.

How often can you reply to any given thread?
Intermittent, but weekly is usually a safe bet unless something comes up.

What is the longest you're willing to wait for a reply to a thread?
Generally a week without a PM.  After a month, I'll call the topic dead and non-Canon.

Are you open to RPing over instant messengers? If so, what's the best way to contact you and what times are you generally available?
I don't use any IM services.

Are you open to post volleying?
I can try it but I cannot guarantee I won't get a case of writer's block and have to stew for a day.

Anything else?

PLAYER LIMITS

What are you limits regarding powerplay/godmoding?
Depends on the specific contexts.  If an action is meant to interrupt my character and stop them from doing something, that may work.  Don't override my character's autonomy by telling me what the are doing.

What are your limits in regards to romantic situations?
Uncertain; it's not a narrative imperative for me though I'm willing to let my characters evolve that way of that seems viable.

What are your limits in regards to sex?
Willing to discuss; obviously I'd rather avoid being gratuitous I'm open to working with my partner.

What are your limits in regards to pregnancy within plots?
Open, assuming the female character has final say on all pertinent elements.

What are your limits in regards to violent scenes?
Quite open to violence, especially when both sides are well aware the violence and gore are part of the narrative, scene or event.

What are your limits in regards to abuse/rape in plots?
Willing to discuss, though I will mostly leave that in other characters hands.

Are you okay with characters being transformed against their will?
I'm okay with them trying and giving my character a chance to react.  I'm willing to go along within reason.

What about healing?
Yes; though that may depend on specific character and given context.

Anything else?
Not at the moment...
