Finger Food and Rolly Chairs
« on: September 18, 2012, 02:01:10 am »
Like a little blue seed, the Mimi-Tan was docked up at the Cancer for a brief respite from all that plundering and flying like a bat out of hell from pursuers. There was a lot of clattering, hissing, and lovely aromas coming from the quaint kitchen on board right then, as the one and only person with a set of balls on board finished up a nice big dinner.
Hm, maybe too big…there really weren’t that many of them, and they were ladies after all…something about watching their girlish figure, right? Hm…well, he’d eat the leftovers if nobody else did!

Decked out in his usual black leather pants, he was in fact barefoot for the time being, since he didn’t anticipate having to leave the ship this afternoon - it was dinner night after all! Beneath the frilly pink-and-white apron currently on his lanky teenage body, he was wearing one of his usual neon colored fishnet shirts (yellow, for those curious to know) which naturally exposed all his dusty skin and reddish brown freckles (that Aoi was so fond of).
Momentarily alone, he had already started singing the last random song he’d caught on the radio - and unlike a howling dog, he actually had a damn good voice!
Swaying his hips to the melody playing in his head, he turned about and stepped free of the kitchen - only to nearly be run over by the Captain of the ship.
“Eek! Aoi! Watch it!”

Aoi, pilot extraordinaire, was currently rocketing by at a breakneck speed aboard a trusty rolling-chair. She disappeared through a narrow hallway before being able to respond to the near-collision, and a moment later there was a somewhat ominous crash and thump.
The peel of laughter that erupted right after let Gigi breath easy - at least she hadn’t broken her neck! Shaking his head, and wooden spoon still in hand, he raised his voice to be heard in the small ship.
“Lili, Lulu, Meme!!! Dinner’s almost ready!!!”

Just then, Aoi came coasting back by, this time at a much slower pace.
“Hey, keep Medea away from the food this time - I don’t wanna breath fire tonight!”
The second most-seasoned member of this ship (behind Gigi) had a habit of cooking incredibly spicy food. If Aoi was in the mood for it, it was fine and dandy, but otherwise it tended to be a painful experience haha.
Gigi was more curious about the chair she was currently scooting around in.
“Where did you get that?”
“Found it on the Cancer!”
“…What, you just grabbed it?”
“Pirates have sticky fingers, right? This thing is crazy fun! Running into the end of the hall was a little rough, but I figure it just takes practice, like piloting this ship!”

Momentarily Gigi wondered if he should be worried that their pilot was making comparisons between a hyper advanced space ship and the rickety chair-on-wheels…

Lulu's soft but quick steps were barely heard as she hastened to the eating area. The dinner call was something she'd never miss, especially if it was Gigi calling. Food made by him was excellent, in her opinion; she wasn't sure how he did it.

She slowed down her almost-skipping as she heard an odd noise. Sounded kind of like wheels. As soon as she came into sight, she saw where it had been coming from. The captain was scooting around in a wheely chair. If that was the proper way to describe it. Honestly, Lulu wasn't sure how to respond to that, since it wasn't the first time her Captain had done odd things. So, she simply moved closer, surreptitiously taking in large breaths of the food's scent, and stared at the at the plastic chair on wheels.

"I see you have found a new mode of transportation."

Soft voice was accompanied by an indulgent smile as Lulu moved her eyes up to Captain Aoi. Actually, despite the dangers, it looked rather fun to roll around while sitting. She wasn't a medic either, so she could care less about potential injury from something so benign. Aoi might even let her take a look at how the chair was constructed; it had to be pretty simplistic.

The smell of the food caught her attention again. She sniffed long and deep before releasing her breath. She loved dinner nights aboard the Mimi-tan. There was just something about getting all the girls together, plus Gigi who was practically one of them, and devouring food without a care as to what men thought of your eating habits. Plus, Gigi always made the best food.

"It smells fantastic, as usual."

Rest assured, I see all of you lovely people's posts, but expect me to be a bit slower responding.

"I agree. Smells great, Gigi."

Lili suddenly appeared in the hall, having just arrived a few seconds after Lulu. Leaning against the wall, hands in the pockets of her medical coat, her eyes slid over to Aoi and down to the rolling chair she was sitting in. She raised an eyebrow at an attempt to look stern, but the small smile on her lips gave her away.

"Oh geez," was all she said.

Bringing up her arms, Lili held her elbow in one hand, resting her cheek in the other. "Please don’t hurt yourself. I don’t want to waste any medical supplies on any unnecessary injuries."

Medea could tell Gigi was almost finished about right before he started yelling. She clicked out of the finance app and put down her PDA (which she'd jailbroken to hell and back; she needed some of the stuff the company froze out and the state of the ship's money needed to be private). Dinner was probably going to be bland, but she was well aware that her definition of "bland" was light-years away from what everybody else on the ship thought. She'd just add spices after the fact.

Aoi was enjoying herself immensely and everybody else felt perplexed. Which was actually pretty average on the Mimi-tan. She walked cautiously anyway, because "rambunctious" was an understatement when referring to her captain. She didn't feel the need to get bulldozed into a wall. It was only a couple of minutes before she found Aoi in a spinny chair, and being highly cheerful about it. Medea raised her eyebrows but didn't comment. No point.

"Smells nice," she told Gigi, and then added, "Low on seasoning, though." (It was a really old inside joke, that, dating back to the first time she'd eaten his cooking.)

Aoi gave Lulu a broad grin in response, still scooting about the small area that served as their ‘mess hall’ - basically a dining room, with a long metallic table in the center and stools stationed around it (everything bolted down of course).
“I had to, it looked way too fun!” With that, she planted the chair spun herself around in rapid circles.
Gigi would have had a wagging…uh, stump, if he’d been in his dog form. It didn’t matter how many times he was praised, he always had the same refreshingly sincere response.
“Thank you! Ah, Aoi, you’re gonna make yourself sick!” He waved the wooden spoon at her to no avail.

Finally coming to a stop, Aoi was met with an (almost) disapproving look from her medic. Swaying a bit as her equilibrium tried to catch up, she just gave Lili a mild wave.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be careful not to break anything!”
That probably referred to both herself and the ship…
Having given up trying to keep Aoi from causing mischief in the dining room, Gigi had gone to setting the table, but he gave their medic an equally pleased smile.
“Thank you!”

Of course, just as he was setting out an entire spice rack’s worth of shakers at Meme’s placeholder, their lover of all things hot was appearing. Setting down the last of the ‘seasoning’, Gigi turned with his hands on his apron clad hips. His reply to Medea was a goofy face and his tongue sticking out. Aoi, on the other hand, was laughing even as she finally removed herself from her new toy.
“Hey, I told him that fire-breathing was off the menu tonight! Since everybody’s here now, LET’S EAT!” She all but bounced to her seat and flopped down, waving her fork around like a five year old as she waited for Gigi to scoot back into the kitchen.
Apron now retired, the young man reappeared with a surprising number of platters balanced on his arms - practice, all practice. Soon the table was complete with all it’s food - some kind of a chili-like stew, a heap of seasoned rice, something similar to lettuce wraps, and a bucket of well seasoned green beans.
“Okay ladies, dig in! I hope it tastes half as good as it smells, hehe.”
