Answered Questions / Small Avi
« on: June 27, 2013, 04:05:48 pm »
I don't know if it's just me, but my avi looks incredibly tiny.

I have tried several different pics of several types, png, gif, etc, but that didn't change it.
I also tried switching from an uploaded avi to one from a url, and even using a larger picture, but my avi stays consistently small.

I don't know how to fix this. Help?

Oh, excellent~
Um, I'm a little slow on ideas today. Honestly, all I'd be able to do is set my char down in the wastelands and be like "Well... there. Have fun. Run around." xD
So, maybe you should start it. Jibarr likes to skulk anyway. ;]

Yay! Okay, I posted his sheet, so is Jibarr alright? I just thought that with Lyric being an upstanding holy warrior or something, he would very much not get along with a mutant with questionable morals like Jibarr.
Totally fine for a closed or open thread, if you still want that.

__________________IN-DEPTH STUFF

Physical Description:
Jibarr (as a whole):
Jibarr has a serpentine, quadrupedally-stanced body with an elongated build and two dragon-like heads. Most of the body is a dull silver-grey, though the underbelly is navy blue. The top of the heads are black, with a short gradation to the main color on the necks. The pawpads are also black, though the short claws are dull gold. The tips of the ears are the same gold. The softer parts—like the insides of ears and mouths—are a dull blue. There are nearly invisible runes all over the body which glow a soft red when courting or intimidating.
The spine looks stitched, as though it is held shut by the iridescent navy blue surgical thread. There are similarly stitched areas between shoulder/neck joints, and near leg joints closed with same stitches as its back. These act as pockets, and can hold items.
The tail is actually three thin, prehensile tails which are wound around each other when not in use.

Both heads look slightly different.

Barrlugh:
The head on the right—when looking from the front—is the “main” head. It has six ears arranged in a vertical line on the head, with the larger in front, to smaller in back. It has four eyes total. One pair is placed facing front; these have black sclera and irises, and the pupils always glow red. The other pair is placed on the either side of the head and resembles chameleon eyes. A matte gold oval facet rests in the middle of the forehead.
Jiji:
The head on the left has two tall, rabbit-like ears. This head has eight eyes. The front facing pair is completely black with small traces of red-orange moving through them like magma. There is an identical pair on the back of its head, and neither pair blink. The other two pairs are on the sides of the head, and though they are normal-looking eyes, both blink horizontally. The front pair has red irises, and the back pair has navy blue irises. A small pearlescent red horn protrudes from the forehead.

Personality:
Both heads are actually equally important and sapient, and both have their own identities.

Jibarr (as a whole):
They are interested in rules and order. They value honesty and following the rules, even if the rules are questionable morally. They need to be in control to be comfortable, and both hide their nervousness around others. They actually finds many situations and people intimidating.

Barrlugh:
The “main” head, which answers to Jibarr—for the both of them—or Barrlugh, is incredibly intelligent and manipulative. He is organized, and is good at remembering details, but can be flexible in changing situations. He takes responsibility, and hates laziness. To do it right, do it yourself. Even if he has a long "to do" list, he will get everything done, eventually. Wasting time bothers him.
He enjoys captivating and charming people. He believes that most people have good intentions, and takes advantage of that. He doesn’t expect people to like him if he doesn’t manipulate them. Why should they? He doesn’t like himself. He projects this self-worthlessness onto others, telling himself how much he hates them. He tends to have mood swings and unpredictable emotions, though most all are cold.
He enjoys philosophical discussions, even when they get challenging or intense. He is also interested in abstract ideas and theories. He thinks new is good, especially out of mainstream.
He calls his other head Jiji. Though Barrlugh thinks up the ideas and plans, he listens when Jiji “speaks” and defers to him, afraid of his power. He is jealous of Jiji’s solid morals and hotter emotions.
Barrlugh does not think himself cruel; he does not cause pain unless defending himself or if he is pissed. His experiments, he believes, are humane.

Jiji:
The “second” head, Jiji, only refers to his other head as brother. He tends to be dominant and is a natural leader. His brother envies his ability to take on any challenge. Others are sometimes secretly afraid he thinks he’s better than them. He doesn’t.
Morals are important to him; he doesn’t like harming others. He lashes out when he feels hurt or threatened though. He thinks that change for novelty's sake is a very bad idea. While some may see this as boring, many see it as dependable and wise. It’s actually because he hates feeling rejected, especially because of who he is or how he looks. He regrets his anger later, but just looks uncaring and stoic. He’s very serious, and others often tell him to lighten up. With others—when he deigns speak on good terms—he tends to be polite and formal.
He is jealous of his bro’s easy speech and what seems like confidence around others. He can’t imagine life without him. No, really. He’s incapable. Because why would there be any other life without him?
Jiji wants strong bonds more than anything, and others he can count on.

Magic/Abilities:
Jibarr (as a whole):
Jibarr has removable skin. It is wholly optional; they can survive painlessly and indefinitely without it, and regenerate it completely if destroyed or lost. The muscle beneath has a thin, clear membrane which protects their internal workings.
However, they are also sickly. They are naturally frail, prone to disease, and tire easily.

Neither head enjoys speaking directly, as Barrlugh has an odd accent, courtesy of his tongue shape, and Jiji simply doesn’t like speaking.
Jibarr secretes a thick, slimy poison from venom sacks below the throat of both heads. The venom is slightly different for either head, but both provide minor pain suppression, sealing of open wounds near injection site, paraesthesia and/or swelling of the extremities, and disorientation, depending on the doseage.

Barrlugh:
Barrlugh’s venom is an iridescent gold, injected by the needle-like ending on his tongue. The numbing effect of his venom is more pronounced. Larger doses will cause the target to lose all feeling in the body for a while.

Barrlugh has a specialized ability to lull his target to sleep. After which, if he so choses, he can gently direct the creature's dreams (or nightmares) for a few minutes.

Jiji:
Jiji’s venom is blood red, and drips from his tongue, which has sharp, hollow retractable barbs lining the edges. His venom is absorbed into the body on contact with the skin, allowing him to use it simply by spitting it, or cutting with his tongue.

Jiji is a strong telepath, which he uses to communicate and help his brother communicate.

Relationships:
Jibarr has contacts, not friends.

History:
Born mutated, stuck to shadows, no healthy social interaction, etc.

Other:
He needs people to kidnap, debate with, and/or plan with.
He is super wary, and doesn’t let anything near him without observing it first.

The stronger gusts of wind finally tore her attention to what Santiago was pointing out. With clouds so low, it didn't matter whether it was dust or not; thunderstorms could be just as devastating, with high winds and sometimes hail.

Maite simply nodded and made to follow her acquaintance. She didn't want to get stuck outside in this, especially with no natural shelter close enough to get to in time. Besides, with all those people in one place, finding work might take less time. She could have a place to sleep by the end of it.

The building they headed to was sturdy, built long and low with solid stone to withstand the high wind speeds experienced in many towns. A man stood at the main door, ushering people inside. He looked up and caught their eyes, waving them over. It looked as though he was unperturbed by the sight of Blair, and even expected people bringing horses inside. Maite gave a short sigh of relief and sped up. She loved how no one questioned her looks in times of emergency.

Another spurt of blood from yet another cut, and the beast finally went down. Jael hadn't been spared from the sprays of bodily fluid, and now had splotches of darkening red on various parts of her body. She swiped her forehead with her free hand, smearing the blood around more than actually removing it, and looked around.

There were still multiple blind beasts about, and all the screaming was not helping her makeshift team work. Well, it did help conceal their much quieter presence and more precise attacks, but it put the more vulnerable folk at risk. Even though the beasts had a good sense of smell, it was the sounds that were driving them crazy.

"Keep them from the buildings! If you aren't a fighter, take cover! Find refuge and then keep quiet!" She twirled her naginata and ran after another beast that had escaped her before. She was sure it had headed in this direction, and she hoped it hadn't gotten to anyone. The other beasts were distracted with members of her team, so she decided it safe enough to split from the group for a moment.

Slowing as she weaved through some quieter buildings, Jael came across a building that looked like it had been wrecked. She mentally crossed her fingers that whomever had been inside had gotten away. She heard little noise and crept closer until she could see inside.

The creature was dead. It wasn't moving, and blood gathered beneath it. A few steps more and she finally noticed two people near it. Looking at the animal's wounds, she gathered that the man with his blade had been the one to bring it down. Their own relaxed posture told her it was down for good, and allowed her to calm down as well.

"Hey! You kids alright?" She walked towards them, noting that neither seemed to have injuries. ...Visible ones, at least.

Nodding, Rambert shifted his stance back, preparing for Raniero's next move. He seemed to be focusing and planning now. That was good.

Rambert had never been good at sensing other psionic powers; telepathy wasn't his strong suit. However, his wings were more sensitive to air pressure and similar things. He felt a slight charge coming from the kid, and though it wasn't unexpected, the look in his eyes made it seem... purposeful?

Focusing on the subtleties of his opponent's body language, he tucked his legs up slightly to avoid getting knocked over and braced for the punch. He didn't count on the punch speeding up so significantly at the end. Unable to get his arms up in time he rolled with it, using the momentum to perform a sort-of one-handed flip backwards. His wings shifted to help keep his balance.

He quickly righted himself and got back into a defensive position. The hit had not only been faster than expected but was also backed up by more force, thanks to the extra speed. Rambert chuckled.

"Good use of power." He rolled his shoulders to loosen the muscles. "My turn."

With the kid putting more focus into the fight, he decided to start throwing some real hits of his own. He quickly closed the gap, throwing a kick that would swing around and buckle Raniero's left knee.

Absences/Returns / Moving and Other Issues
« on: June 08, 2013, 08:31:26 am »
So, I have been having incredibly awful roommate issues, but I have taken care of it by making my move out date earlier. So, since I'll be moving within a week, I'm starting to pack, and I may not have the time to respond quickly. I'll be moving and then unpacking stating around the 14th, and continuing for a few days.

So, thank you for understanding. =] I just cannot stay in this apartment with this woman any longer. I will sob.

Oh. Ouch, okay. That made him feel like an ass. Really, he hadn't meant it like that, it was just a startled reaction. He slowly sunk back down to the cushions, crossing his legs to sit.

"Well, uh, okay just don't..." He was no good at this. What did you say when someone broke into your house and yet you ended up distressing them? "Relax, okay?"

Stifling a small yawn, he ran his fingers through his hair. He caught a clock that was still working on the wall across from him. It was late, or perhaps early? It was technically morning. That might have been a good time for breaking in, but waking him up didn't help with stealing.

"What d'ya need me for? You know, I wouldn't've turned you away during the day. Didn't have to sneak in. What if I'd been in the nude?" Another yawn stopped him from saying anymore.

The soft nudge roused Casey from his improvised sleep. He groaned.

"Mr. Fish," he whined, flailing a hand out until he patted the top of what had to be a head, "I said I didn' want you ta--"

His hand froze, his brain finally having caught up to what he was doing. No one should be in here. It was night, the doors were locked, he was alone. ...Well, not anymore, but still. Opening his eyes, he quickly noticed the girl kneeling next to him, her eyes wide and pleading.

His first reaction was instinct. He screamed--not like a girl, thank you--and scrambled up the back of the couch before briefly slapping a hand over his mouth, eyes still wide. He took a couple of breaths to help calm down.
His next reaction was instinct also, but of a different kind.

"The fuck are you doing here?" he hissed.

Casey was currently sleeping, having nodded off after several hours of tinkering with one of his pet projects. He didn't notice the sound of the small side door to his kitchen opening.
His kitchen held only the minimum, with few cabinets, a stove/oven combination, a coffee maker, and a sink nearly full of mugs. Some of the mugs still had coffee in them. Just off to the side was a small table surrounded by three chairs.

Through an archway was the main living room, and it was here that Casey slept.
His main room was fairly spartan, with only a couple white loveseats, and some black tables of varying sizes throughout the room. On one table sat a shrubbery trimmed in the shape of a fish. The other held tools, delicate works of art, blueprints and diagrams, or projects in various stages of completion.

Casey himself was draped across one of the loveseats, limbs splayed about, snoring softly as his head hung partially off the seating. He wore a dark no-sleeved tee and cargo pants, and one of his hands held a screwdriver. It was impossible to tell what he had been working on, as there were several things on the table near him. The only light in the entire apartment was a small lamp on the same table, face pointed down at the metal scraps and chips.

Kotone tapped a finger idly on her partially empty glass. She knew she wasn't too much of an idol in her own right yet, she was mainly working off her status she had from the band. She was getting there though, so sometimes people would recognize her just from looks.
It was refreshing to find people who didn't, especially since she was taking some off time.

She hummed, neither agreeing or disagreeing. She sipped her drink, catching a stray drop on the glass with her tongue.
"Is that so? That's quite a limb to climb onto." Her eyes remained fixedly on the woman next to her, still daring her to continue. "You're not wrong though."

Just that short bought of interest was enough for her, so she exaggerated an eye roll to look at the back of the bar instead. Kotone had managed to catch her attention, as intended, so her own waned to help maintain her image. She drawled the next sentence, no longer using her direct, enthralling speech.

"'Course, it makes sense to watch for up-'n-comers. Everyone comes up from somewhere--" she'd come from the middle class, herself, "--and not everyone works alone."

Felix didn't need anymore ideas about bringing happy people into their group, but she knew he would. Better to have them also have skills to back up their enthusiasm.

TRIM / Re: Who Does That Purposefully? [Blue]

Silence. Katie's mouth was a small 'o', and her eyes were wide. A few blinks brought her back to herself, and a shy smile grew until she hummed and swung her legs again.
She was going to keep with Miss Chiyoko. No more of the scientists she cared nothing for, or odd, painful experiments. Probably. At least there was a good chance she meant what she had said earlier.

"Good day, Ma'am," she whispered, "I'll do my best."

She wasn't sure whether she had imagined it or not, but she grinned as the guards came to escort her back to her cell, thinking of the slight softness the scientist had shown.

(ooc: Ehehe, thanks. It is pretty great. This does seem like a good place to stop. And I definitely want to start up a second thread! PM me?)

Sassy Juice / Re: New Day, New Medic [Flakeblood!]
« on: May 20, 2013, 10:32:46 pm »
"I hadn't really planned on continuing. If the threat of death wasn't enough to deter me, the pain certainly would be." Oddly enough, he hadn't had many head injuries before. He noticed most doorways or other objects low enough to run into, and most other sentient species aimed lower. It was easier for them to reach.

The response to his thanks was slightly surprising, but he was glad for it. There was nothing more awkward than when someone blew off or refused to accept the little thanks he was willing to give.
Llyr was glad his hunch had worked as well. But, wait...

"Hunch?"
Once the thought hit him, the little composure he had started draining away, following the unpleasant drop his stomach took.

"How dare yo- you didn't think that this could possibly make- I could have- you- I can't, I, I- ...I think I like you." And here he paused, his expression a combination of surprise, confusion, and mild pleasure. "You are a frustrating clod, but you're honest, at least. I believe I can tolerate that."

And really, that was most of what he did, was tolerate people. Well, some people.
Besides, he couldn't expect this medic to know his species; Most he met had never even heard of the eleionomae before. Not to mention Llyr had never come to see him before; he'd had no need.

The scab seemed to have covered the wound over, as a gentle probing proved. Satisfied, he tugged at his sandals' ribbons, untying them and pushing them off his calves. Then he shifted his body to lean back against the wall before slowly pulling his sandal-free legs up onto the cot; they took up the rest of the space. That was good. He couldn't sleep on this cot even if he so desired.

He took offense to that assessment of his pain tolerance, but an outraged gasp was the only response he could give at the moment. Huh. Perhaps he was rather lacking in this area. It didn't usually matter, but during times like these, he was reminded how useless he'd be when truly injured.

At least the little sadist was being gentle now. With most of the pain fading, leaving only a dull throb, Llyr felt himself relax from his tensed position. He resolved to clean up as soon as he was able; he didn't like the sticky feeling of a wound.

"Well, I'd certainly hope so. It would say something rather pitiable about us both if I died from something such as this."

A long, luxurious cleaning wouldn't go amiss for his mood, either. Even if he was brash before, the lizard obviously held some compassion to offer small comforts after the ordeal. Llyr felt he ought to at least try to reign in his automatic insults.

He sighed. "...Thank you." The spots from his vision were disappearing, after all.

"Mmm. I'll be staying for some time, depending. Not for the sake of the town, though. Just rather stay inna bed than sleep next to the stuff I sketch."

So she hoped Santiago was right, and at least one newer building was meant for guests or newcomers.
Maite smothered a large, surprised smile at his gesture, letting only one side of her lips twist up. Taking his hand, she hopped down. She put her pencil back into her pocket and offered him his map. There were lightly sketched lines correcting the placement of the plateau and placing the town right where it should be. A few lines were sweeps of the path they had just taken with distance calculations.

"Well. Hope this helps...? I think I'll check the accommodations."
She studiously ignored any gawking people.

Synesthesia / Re: Bubblegum vs Poprocks [Flakeblooooood!]

A fluttery feeling appeared in her chest at the sound of her nickname. Wow. She really had to stop getting excited every time someone shortened her name. It had to be unhealthy to obsess over something so... trivial. Except it wasn't, not to her.
Maybe that's why she attracted so many lively people. Oh, heavens forbid that she should secretly like that perkiness they exuded.

Still, at the next few comments, her eyebrows actually shot up nearly to her hairline. She turned to look directly at the woman beside her. She wasn't having fun? Just because she didn't radiate blinding happiness? This had to be corrected, but where to start...

"I can't enjoy people watching? ...I don't get to do much of this. Relaxing." Usually it was people watching her, instead. "Regardless, I was interested in seeing some up-and-coming DJs. I... might have wanted to check out the competition."

And here Kotone flashed her first grin, a sharp, predatory thing, though her eyes were teasing. Her band might not be in direct opposition to DJs, but anyone becoming popular had the potential to draw more attention.
Some people she could care less about, but as she'd said, Ocean was interesting. Passionate. She could respect that.
