Backfire (Kitsune)

Well, the initial plan wasn't bad. They had it well thought out, well supplied, had loads of men. But... Severak supposed they didn't realize that it could be false information with an ambush waiting out of it. Those that exited the ship quickly were survivors from the first strike: A missile soon hit the cockpit on the shuttle, and it was blown to all hell. So, outta the bunch they had there was one guy leading the whole operation out of the three they originally had, mercs, a female who looked rather... interesting, and then himself, probably looking like he was some sort of robot.

Well, the worst thing was to stay put. So they moved on. Guess what? Snipers. Everywhere. The leader was shot down and after getting to some cover Severak opened up a way, but not before the snipers took half of the remaining group. They moved on, much more carefully now, and got in through a ventilation hatch. After some navigating, Severak spotted an opening and peeked out. What did he find? An empty armory. Well, empty people-wise. It was full of everything you needed. They all hopped down, and most of the mercs gathered all the ammo they could.

Well, Severak decided that he was going to get away from the mercs. Most of them were here for money, and had no morales. That meant they could turn on their 'allies' at any moment. He moved on, and soon... well, he heard gunfire. Why? Turrets, automated ones, were guarding the room. Was that one female still alive? Well, he might as well check. Seeing as he didn't radiate any sort of heat from his armor while he wore it, the sensors on the turret didn't detect him.

So, where was this lady he had a hunch was still alive?

Inali had ended up on this job as a last ditch effort to make some money. She normally worked with her own crew under her own conditions. This time she didn't know anyone. It was hard. She wasn't sure who she could trust if anyone at all. Mercs and bounty hunters weren't the most reliable bunch.

She was leaned against a wall a gun held up against her chest and another down at her side. She was itching for a cigarette as the sound of gunfire ripped through the air. She had split off from the group to take a position that had cover. Taros was always the one that just ran into the problem. She was a little bit more crafty when it came to things like that. She checked the ammo count in her head of the guns and kept an eye out.

Eventually those turrets had to run out of ammo...right?

Okay, so his hunch was right, she was a survivor out of... what? Now just them? He saw corpses riddled with holes, and realized that this probably wasn't a great time to walk into a room, as the turrets were trying to kill her now. And they didn't seem to be running out of ammo any time soon, so he began an attack of his own. Rounds of bullets echoed from within the room, but as single shots were heard, the turrets began to sizzle out of control, and with circuits missing, began to overload. Eventually shrapnel was the only thing left of them, and Severak's gun smoked slightly, a fairly decent sign that he was the one who took them out. "It seems they respond only to heat. At least, this kind." Severak stated, and his opticals clicked.

He walked over to the side of the cover the female was taking cover behind, and looked down. "It seems we're the only survivors. Are you injured?" Severak said, wondering if she needed some minor medical treatment. He wasn't a doctor, but he could patch someone up fairly nicely. How? Practice, bandages, and a bit of experience. He looked around the room, and finding that it was quiet for the moment, he figured they had at least 5 minutes before they began trying to find the intruders.

Manually.

Inali grabbed her cigarette pack as soon as the turrets whizzed to a stop. She had the cigarette in her mouth as the other person approached her. She crouched to check her guns. They were loaded and ready.

"Thanks for the help." She let her eyes meet the other persons. She had a few rips in the black leather jacket she had zipped up. They were mostly wounds where the various kinds of ammo had grazed her some looked worse than others. Keeping the gun close she pulled the jacket off slowly, the cigarette moving in her mouth as she spoke.

"I got grazed a few times, nothing too serious." She smiled, it was a smile that confirmed how much she loved this job.

"I'm Inali."

Severak watched her for a few moments before responding. "Severak." he said, and then looked around. Nothing to see here. A bodies, blood, guns. Typical dead mercs. He shrugged and looked at the door, to hear voices. "And here I thought I was going to be bored throughout this mission." Severak said, a pleasant tone hitting his voice. So he was wrong about the five minutes thing... so what? This made missions fun. Severak popped on the shotgun attachment to his rifle and got it all properly attached.

Under the mask, Severak grinned. The foolish people rushing towards them were probably moderately armed, with what sounded like assault rifles and sub-machine guns. Standard issue. Not too much of an issue for someone with fairly decent armor. The way he looked at the door, you could tell he was anticipating the men's arrival.

He loved this job just as much as Inali.

Inali nodded to him then followed his eyes to look towards the door. She saw the excitement on Severak's face. She was kind of excited too, the middle of a job and that adrenaline pumping. It felt so good to be out again. Her eyes were open taking in all the little details. She worked with small hand guns and one lovely sniper rifle and a hell of a lot of knives.

She slid some throwing knives from their place with her left hand and held her gun with her right. She had learned over her years of life that being ambidextrous was handy, not pun intended. Inali was the type that placed shots precisely. Taros had always been the type to pour bullets on it or charge and break some bones. She felt she had more class than her old partner. She wondered what type this man would be.

Cocking her gun she lined up to where she thought the men might come through.

"Nice ta meet ya Severak."
