<No, you're not getting a discount just because you insisted I use mundane crafting methods. You were specifically told it would take longer than normal due to how irritatingly long mundane fabrication takes. Several. Times. Now pay up. You aren't my only customer, and I'm not above beating it out of you.>. Sarah's sharp words were accompanied by an angry hiss, and her tail flashing past his ear, resulting in her customer hurriedly paying his tab and practically fleeing to his ship. <Honestly... If I had a pebble of salt for every customer who thought slowing me down was their ticket to a discount, I'd have moved to Libra by now...>, she 'muttered' to herself as she checked the sale's record, then began tinkering with a strange contraption a previous customer had given her.

It wasn't long before the scent of a human drew her attention from her work, despite the old-fashioned electric-eye-operated bell she'd put together from various odds and ends she'd had lying around failing to even register. <I'll be with you in a moment.>, she almost automatically called out as she worked one last difficult part into place. After a short debate on whether or not to test it now, Sarah made her way to the counter. <Sorry for the wait. How shall I assist you today?>, she asked, straightening the tan coveralls she was wearing at the moment.

Well.

That was a sight you didn't see everyday.

Sure Ari had encountered his share of exotic-slash-weird-as-hell alien species, but one that looked like a bipedal dragon? That was different.

Couldn't really blame the other guy for leaving in such a rush. He wouldn't want to piss off a mechanic that looked like she could eat you for a snack. Grinning, he leaned his arms on the counter and smiled at the lizard lady, his best charming smile because he sure as hell wanted to stay on the good side of anything with that many sharp teeth and a tail that could probably break ribs.

Hey, he liked pain, but context was everything.

"Not a problem, darlin'," he said to her apology, and decided to cut straight to the chase. "I was just wonderin' how backed up ya are for today? I got a ship and, well, her spherical thruster? It's a little off. Ain't nothin' big, I don't think. Just needs a little adjustin'. Ya got time?"

The charming smile was not lost on the mechanic, though it made little difference in her demeanor. She'd seen plenty such smiles, almost always from the less honest ones, and had long since lost all regard for the act. <I've got a few parts to install and some upgrades to make, but that shouldn't take too long, seeing as I've finished up the parts for them. A problem like that shouldn't take too long, as long as it's the only problem. You docked in my repair bay?>, she answered. The question might have seemed a bit stupid, but there had been more than enough idiots who had docked elsewhere to warrant it.

Sarah looked over the man as she waited for a response. Ari Maxwell, she pulled from her memory, captain of the Sassy Juice, a pirate vessel rumored to be the ugliest on the station. She'd always wanted to check it out for herself, to be honest, and it sounded like the sort of ship that she'd like. Pirate ships, she was told, had a way of having mechanical problems and  being damaged by other ships, to speak nothing of the opportunities to disassemble whatever ships they captured and decided to scrap. <One more thing. If it turns out that anything needs to be replaced, I prefer to synthesize parts using magic. It saves a lot of time, and the parts are usually stronger for it, seeing as I can use materials too tough to craft using more... conventional... methods. You can, of course, have me use such conventional methods, but it'll take longer and you aren't getting a discount for the extra time.>, she added as an afterthought. Better to give such warnings up front.

Ari gave Miss Reptile a long, blank stare.

"So, lemme get this straight. You're tellin' me ya can make a better part magically, that it'll be stronger and better and save money for the time? And expectin' me to argue with that?" He  laughed. "Fuck no. Go for it. I ain't a mechanic so...you're the boss, boss. So long's it's not gonna like shit out on me any faster than the old fashioned kind, or cause any weird complications, we're golden."

He jerked his thumb toward the door. "But yeah, she's out back in your bay. Ya really can't miss her, unless you're color blind."

Laughter was something that came rarely to Sarah, as much due to the nature of a Draconian's laugh as to the fact that... certain individuals... had taken issue to it in the past. When it did occur, as it did when Ari said perhaps the smartest thing she'd heard all week, it was a sound many had interpreted as anger or aggression, as humans tend to do with roaring. <I'm guessing you're not familiar with my usual clientele. Let's just say it's not often someone actually takes the deal instead of trying to short me on time and material for conventional work. Some even have the nerve to threaten to sue me for their stupidity.>, she explained as she laughed. When she finally got a hold of herself a few moments later, she continued, <Moving on, though, there won't be any complications. This isn't Sage Lightstone, after all. It's just basic synthesis magic on a somewhat bigger and more detailed scale. Or smaller and much more detailed, depending on the part. As long as the person doing it knows what they're doing and making, it's a cinch.>, she remarked, grabbing a small cube of her own design from a shelf under her counter, as well as a flashlight and a few other devices.

<Anything special I should be aware of before I start?>, the mechanic asked. It was always best to have this sort of information before one went tinkering around with a ship. As she waited for a response, Sarah entered some information into a computer she'd had modified to run fast enough to keep up with her, her fingers and hands seemingly still as the cacophony of clattering keys struggled to keep pace with the appearance of characters on the screen. How odd that a member of such an advanced race would prefer to hear such clacking, even if it was just a sound program a friend had installed as a favor.

That roaring sound was a little disconcerting at first, but only because it was surprising. Considering her jovial manner, it was pretty obvious she wasn't planning on eating his face. In fact, it was kind of like with dogs! They got all snarly and growly when they played, but it was just their way of having fun; there was an obvious difference between their play-growls and their "I'mma fuck you up" growls.

Her "I'mma fuck you up" roars were probably something to behold.

Grinning, he waved a hand dismissively. "Naw, nothin' special to know. Just don't touch the paint job, is all! Beyond that? I trust you not to fuck it up. Be kind to my baby girl, now."

He turned toward the door to lead the way. "Like I said, ya can't miss her, but I'd be happy to escort ya."
