This was already a nightmare of a day for him and now he had one more Pilot dropped on his lap. At least it was Pilot Echo Kiers.

Lenny had no problem with either Kiers twin- well. Not usually. He was glad he hadn't been present when Chance had tried to tear through the halls to find out some information about Pilot Cardinal Rheeves' condition, but that had been weeks ago before the Pilot Echo had been released. He was sure his patient wouldn't be like that now.

Or so he had hoped before entering the exam room.

The sight of an anxious Pilot Echo Kiers was hardly reassuring but at least the fidget cube in the man's hand might occupy him long enough to get through the visit. He hoped.

"Hello Pilot Echo Kiers. How are you feeling today?" Lenny said as he looked over the tablet in his hand that had been updated with the vitals the nurse had taken a few minutes ago. "Sorry for the wait, and I know you were expecting Pilot Royal Jensik but something came up. I'm sure we can get you out of here fast, I know you have another appointment after this that I have been instructed to take you to."

Hopefully dropping the information Chance was looking for up front would encourage his full cooperation. "Your vitals all look fine. How is the leg feeling? Any change in your pain levels or discomfort since the last visit? You're still refusing blood thinners- why did they even bother to include that on the chart of a hemokinetic Pilot." Lenny scoffed. There was no need to pump a Pilot full of meds to prevent a possible problem that he could easily monitor himself.

"No blood clots right?"

Tynova / Re: Things Fall Apart
« on: June 23, 2017, 09:21:31 pm »
They had been waiting almost twenty minutes now and he could tell his attendant was getting very antsy. He understood it wasn't the best neighborhood, or the best apartment building to be waiting in the hallway of... the elevator had seemed like it might break down with just the two of them in it as well. He didn't want to go home though. Not without seeing his uncle.

It had been a bad night at his house. Arabelle was being mean, even if he had been a jerk to her first, and his parents were fighting. His dad had said some mean things too. Sevrin had tried to sneak out on his own but his attendant Circiel knew his tricks too well. She let him come though. She didn't try and stop him, she just came with him. Of course now she was getting annoyed.

Her employers basically expected her to do two things. Watch Sevrin and keep him safe. She had long since given up trying to discipline him or stop him from doing as he pleased, but sometimes his whims were really annoying and inconvenient. She totally sympathized with him wanting to get out of the house tonight, she was glad to be out of there too, but waiting outside his uncle's apartment was not a great alternative. Who knew when or if Glover would be home tonight? "Did you text him Sevrin?" She asked finally, breaking the awkward silence of the dimly lit hallway as she shifted against the wall.

Sevrin didn't want to answer her. If he told her that his uncle didn't answer his text she would probably suggest that they go home. He wasn't going home tonight. He just wasn't. He didn't want to go to his grandparents house either. That would just cause more fights. He just wanted to see his uncle. Uncle Glover was the only one who wasn't nice to him out of pity or simply because he was a mage prodigy and good at things. Uncle Glover had always been nice to him and had never treated him like he was broken. Uncle Glover was the only one he wanted to see tonight.

When Circiel got no response from Sevrin she sighed and held on to the handle bars on the back of his wheelchair, ready to override his control of it and wheel him out of this dreary place. "NO!" Came the shout of protest she was expecting. "No let me text him again! He probably just didn't hear the first message... he doesn't check his phone every five seconds like you!" Another sigh from Circiel, but she let go of the handle bars.

Hi uncle Glover are you going to be home soon? I really want to see you

He stared at the screen hoping for a response, looking between it and the direction of the elevators and stairwell. If he didn't answer soon he would plea with Circiel to let him call his uncle first.

Aedolis Characters / Bertrando Emem, Pilot Cardinal
« on: June 23, 2017, 07:57:16 pm »
{NAME}
Legally his name is now Bertrando Emem-Hestersen, but he still goes by Pilot Cardinal Emem (uh-mem)

{ALIASES}
"Bert" "Rando" "Rambo" "Ran", his gamertag is ExecuteElectrocute which has also earned him the nicknames "ExEl" and "Cute^2" (Cute squared). He also used to troll the Pilot chat under the name CYCLONESROOLE.

{AGE}
25

{GENDER, SEXUALITY}
Male, but is very aware of the 'feminine' aspects of his appearance.

He is attracted to 'masculine' qualities and 'masculine' presenting individuals regardless of gender. He is also polyamorous.

{SPECIES/ETHNICITY}
Largely of Serenian and direct fae descent, with some other things mixed in.
AEDOLIAN BITCHEZ!

{HEIGHT/BUILD}
4'9 and dainty af, candidacy seems to have done nothing to gain him any muscle mass, though he isn't actually as delicate as he appears.

{OCCUPATION}
Pilot Cardinal and memeber of the Aurora Cyclones, part time troll

{RESIDENCE}
Aurora, Aedolis

___________
IN DEPTH STUFF
___________

{PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION}
Rando is small. Especially for a Pilot. His skin is very pale and has an almost opalescent quality, mainly with soft pink undertones. His hair is about shoulder length at its longest and is a dark plum purple in color. In the center of his forehead, about an inch below his hair line, is a small circular jewel that is normally opal like in color but has been known to change with his mood. It is unknown by most if this is a dermal piercing or part of his biology. Rando has large baby doll like eyes in a pale iridescent lime green color.

The most striking aspect of his biology however are his damselfly like wings.

He has been mistaken for a doll or child on multiple occasions.

{PERSONALITY}

FRAT BOY 101
Rando loves being in a squadron. He loves the camaraderie of it and it turns him into a bit of an obnoxious douche. He is the first one to talk shit about anyone not on the Cyclones because obviously they aren't awesome like the Cyclones are. He is totally game for pounding beers and playing any of the Tactical Warfare games, Call to Arms games, or Kingdoms of War all night. He will still be ready for training the next day too and will definitely rag on anyone who isn't.

CHIHUAHUA SYNDROME
All bark and no bite. Bertrando acts very tough and aggressive, especially on line, despite his tiny figure. It's less a compensatory thing and more of a 'don't under estimate me' thing. He is very aware that his personality and appearance contrast each other, but doesn't actually have a complex about his looks or size. However he can't stand being talked down to or over looked because of it. He is a Pilot in his own damn right. You don't graduate for being cute.

DO IT FOR THE LAWLZ
Whether or not you find his trolling and 'humor' funny is a personal matter. He happens to think he is hilarious and great at it and may pout if you tell him otherwise.

GLASS HEART ON MY SLEEVE
Despite trying to act tough, he is a very emotional, loud, and passionate individual. It is intensely difficult for him to hide his emotions, but he turns them into a source of motivation and strength whenever possible. He can't lie about how he feels. He can lie about other things, but not his feelings.

WOULDN'T YOU THINK MY COLLECTION'S COMPLETE?
Rando is actually really sentimental and collects all kinds of various trinkets and cute things... especially if they are shiny or soft, but they all have sentimental meaning to him in some way so if anyone fucks with them or says shit about his collectibles he loses it.

DAD MATERIAL
Is actually really great with small kids and loves them despite any implications to the contrary. This stops applying to kids 12 and older. They are brats. :|

Fun Facts!:
  • Despite his strong fae background he can lie. However he has a hard time lying when it contradicts his true feelings.
  • Is often confused for his boyfriend because if you looked at them both you would assume based on their personalities that Rando was the big intimidating looking one and Vasili was the small demure one.
  • HUUUUUGE SWEET TOOTH.
  • Can pack away grain alcohol like its nothing but anything with a fruit or nut base goes straight to his head.
  • His gamertag before candidacy was WingedPrayer.
  • Secretly loves cartoons... both ones intended for adults and for kids
  • Used to have a huuuuge lop bunny but he had to give her away when he got drafted into candidacy :(
  • He met his first boyfriend in candidacy and found out the hard way why you don't date other candidates. :(

{SPECIAL ABILITIES}
Telepathy- Enough to be a Pilot.
Electrokinesis- Not necessarily the most powerful but very skilled. Scarily so.

He is very skilled with firearms but is better with smaller ones as apposed to larger rifles.

Some assumed glamour magic, however despite his obvious fae heritage he seems to have inherited psionics from his father's side instead. Which is fine by him. It hasn't stopped people from speculating on his 'faerie magics' or accusing him of hypnotizing people.

{RELATIONSHIPS}
Vasili Hestersen- His husband (they eloped! 8D) and fellow Pilot and Aurora Cyclone. Their personalities are often believed to be complete opposites but they work well together.

Zirconium- Bertrando's dragon. A small white and largely mechanical younger dragon who has not had many Pilots since its hard for him to find one small enough for him.

Seiteki Tora- His mentor from candidacy and his 'mamateki'. He loves her like she is his parent, he never really had good ones growing up so she is really important to him.

Yavul Hyakinthos- Rando's 'big brother', one of Seiteki's former candidates. Rando really does see him as family.

Sparrow Anderson- Another of Seiteki's former candidates. Rando and her were also candidates together for a while. She is like a sister to him though they aren't as close.

Lilo Hestersen- Technically his stepchild? He doesn't think of them that way. He wants to be friends with Lilo but sometimes that is really hard. Not to mention awkward.

Aeron Holyfield- Commander of the Aurora Cyclones and the best trash squad mom who is totally not mom.

{HISTORY}
Video games saved his life.

At least, as far as Bertrando is concerned they did.

Growing up on the streets of Aurora isn't as glamorous as it seems. Especially when you are small and frail looking, and they are the wrong streets.

His dad was a big time gang member in Aurora who finally got arrested when Rando was seven, and his mother was too busy doing and making drugs to care about him. He was looked out for by some, and hassled by many others. But video games...

He had a knack for those. Especially for the first person shooters. Maybe it was from growing up will gang violence as a norm, but even the virtual simulator versions of the games were easy for him. They made him feel good. Tough. Strong. Fearless.

Instead of some kid who cried himself to sleep at night.

He played games as much as he could, at arcades too when he was able. He started gaining a rank. He was getting on par with professional gamers. He was fourteen when he started gaining popularity and got his first sponsors. He got a small apartment of his own in a better neighborhood. Got a new custom game console. Started a gaming channel where he posted videos, got invited to gaming conventions... he was getting famous.

And then when he was seventeen he accidentally fried a game console at an arcade where he was making an appearance. He had never once suspected he was psychic before then. It wasn't long after that he was deemed telepathic enough to become a candidate and that whole nightmare started.

In the first two stages his gamer cred meant nothing, and the training and learning was all so hard, he was sure he was going to be TRIM'd on several occasions. When he reached stage three things changed a bit. He found he was good at working in a team environment, and that all the tactics he learned playing his games had practical application in the drills and simulations run in that stage. Stage four was tough, being electrokinetic meant spending more time reigning the unpredictable and destructive element in- or it should have meant that, but he was good at it.

Really good.

It took him five and a half years to graduate but he knew exactly what he wanted to do as a Pilot. He wanted to be an Aurora Cyclone.

Margad / Re: Like a Boat into Oblivion [Nix!]
« on: June 23, 2017, 02:19:27 am »
Jack was a bit startled by the hand wiping away his tears and soothing him. It wasn't that it was bad, or that it was even unwelcome, it was just unexpected. Jack never thought Jonesy would be comfortable enough to do such a thing, but here he was, taking care of his drunken mess of a boss.

Jack could tell how sincere that awkward gestures were, and how genuine Jonesy's sentiments about evil existing were. It didn't feel separate though. It felt like there was a direct correlation between all of Jack's mistakes and Valdemar doing as he pleased, but somewhere he knew that was just because he had been trained to feel that way.

He leaned into Jonesy's hands, into that gentle stilted touch as things he dare not voice started to rise to the surface. Things he couldn't bring himself to tell even his therapist. Things that kept him up at night and haunted the little sleep he got. The physical abuse was one thing, but the mental abuse was crippling. He couldn't even freeze things anymore. The new recruits and squadron members didn't even know he was cryokinetic or that it had at one point been his strongest asset. Valdemar had him doubting his own memory and questioning his own mind on a daily basis.

"Jones." He said finally breaking the silence, finally lifting his head. "I... what if I'm evil too?"

Advanced Training Complex / Re: That Time of the Year
« on: June 22, 2017, 07:08:38 pm »
Ailill really should have seen this coming. If he hadn't been so stressed he would have seen the signs from a mile away. Smelled them. He would have been out the door as soon as Beauregard entered. That would have been smart. But his own hormones clouded his judgement and-

His body needed this.

As much as his mind was screaming at him. As much as he wanted to push Beauregard away. But that wasn't what his hands were doing. They were gripping the drill instructor's shoulders tight and holding him close. He was making soft noises he didn't know he could make.. he was-

He wanted this.

"It's Roman's desk.. we can't.." He said softly as he gave into his own hormones for the first time in years, trembling as his horn was licked. He kissed Beauregard's neck softly, sucking on it gently. Part of his mind was screaming that he would regret this later, but his body and mind were so fatigued. This would fix it. At least for now.

Aedolis Characters / Guidry Ruisel, Pilot Cardinal
« on: June 22, 2017, 09:38:25 am »
{NAME}
Guidry Ruisel (Named by one of the research teams as he needed a name to enter candidacy)

{ALIASES}
"Giddy Boris", "Giddy", "Gid"

{AGE}
23

{GENDER, SEXUALITY}
Male.
No thank you.

{SPECIES/ETHNICITY}
Strigichniad (At least that is what Aedolian researchers call his species)
Aedolian

{HEIGHT/BUILD}
6'2 with long limbs and a slender but strong torso.

{OCCUPATION}
Pilot Cardinal and new member of the Margad Scorpions

{RESIDENCE}
Margad, Aedolis

___________
IN DEPTH STUFF
___________

{PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION}
There is no denying from even the shortest glance, that Guidry is an alien. His skin is like pleather and looks dewy at all times despite being dry. He has no hair but instead has two large thick feelers on his head that can move independently of one another. His skin is mostly white with some tawny brown shading and markings that closely resemble a barn owls. His eyes and hands are more similar to a frog's, though there is no webbing between his fingers. His feet are more like hands as well, all of them having four digits, including thumbs.

Guidry has four arms and his long limbs are all double jointed. The skin on his torso is tough and thick, like padding, this is because his species are meant to crab walk (think Exorcist) with their chest in the air. He prefers to walk upright on two legs however, since walking the other way creeps people out. The other cool thing he can do is move his head in the same sort of motion and rotation as an owl.

{PERSONALITY}
Guidry tends to stay quiet and simply follow orders. Despite being Aedolian, much of the culture escapes him and he is perpetually confused by the more human individuals he comes across and why they do what they do. He tries not to voice any of this though, because he knows he is weird enough as it is.

Fun Facts!:
Will add some later!

{SPECIAL ABILITIES}
Telepathic- Enough to bond with a dragon.
Hydrokinetic- His hydrokinesis works differently than most, as he excels in evaporating moisture from not only landscapes and objects, but plants and animals, as well the air.
Telekinetic- Very skilled at moving things with his mind.

Wall climber!- his weird alien hands and feet secrete a sticky substance that allows him to climb walls, buildings, etc.

{RELATIONSHIPS}
Idmon- Guidry's dragon. A large and very mechanical (both physically and personality wise) dragon.

{HISTORY}
Guidry's story begins when his mother was killed and his father was 'rescued' by Aedolian researchers and brought upon one of their space stations. Guidry was never informed where they found his father, just that they took the Strigichniad onto their space station for research purposes but he was already paralyzed and impregnated with the eggs of the female they had killed.

Everything Guidry knows about his kind was taught to him by scientists on the space station. That their are more males of his species than females. That females are the dominant gender and hunters of their kind. That males will live in small packs around a female that provides for them. That when mating occurs the females begin by biting and paralyzing the male she has chosen as her mate. That females of his species have ovipositors and inject their eggs into the males to be fertilized. And that when the babies are born they erupt from the male's stomach and consume him.

Needless to say he and his brothers grew up terrified of their two sisters.

What he didn't know till he was older was that the researchers were raising them because there was reason to believe that a few from every brood of children would display psionic abilities. Guidry was one of them. As soon as he was old enough he was shipped from the space station and his sheltered life among the researchers to Haviah to undergo candidacy along side two of his brothers and one of his sisters.

He knows that one of his brothers was TRIM'd from the program and he later learned that many of his siblings back on the space station were culled. It was then that he realized the humans held no value for Strigichniad life. They were simply tools and if they were deemed not useful they were scrapped. He lives in fear of being found not useful, or simply useful as breeding stock.

[NOTE: The happenings on the Aedolian Space Station where he grew up are far from common knowledge. It is a government / military research station and highly classified. Most government officials and Pilots wouldn't even have knowledge of it.]

Welcome! As Lion said feel free to ask any questions you might have! And yeah we are far more active on the discord than the CBox lol

Gerard shot a glance at the paramedic who snorted. Only a doctor who had never seen combat would be so crass and unfortunately many of his best staff fit that bill. Banning had done right trying to splint it with whatever materials available. "Ignore them Banning I need your focus."

He followed after the gurney and motioned for Banning to walk with them, whoever the third figure was- Well, Banning's dragon was seeing to them. It was the least of Gerard's current worries. One of the medics carefully cut off the crude wasteland mask that had been put on Pilot Echo Kiers, pulling back the gauze and carefully inspecting the damage.

"Face trauma from an unknown cryptid.. you treated the wound?" Gerard ask turning to Banning.

Goggles had survived flying on a dragon of all things. The most amazing creatures to roam the earth. Fearsome and great. He had just taken off the helmet which had served him ok, given that he was used to a certain amount of toxins as it were (the altitude had been more perilous for him), hesitating on if he should follow the Pilot Royal when that wing wrapped around him.

He froze at first. Unsure if he had done something wrong or if the dragon thought he had been trying to escape. He wasn't. He wasn't going to do anything without being told. He didn't want trouble. He just- he just wanted to be safe. "Y-Yes sir." He answered more shakily than he had meant. He had bravely, and stupidly, addressed this dragon before but he was desperate and scared then and- well he still was but the adrenaline had dissipated now. Was the creature mad at him? He was baring teeth...

Or was that... a smile?

"I.." wasn't born with it. A flash of pain registered on his face and he winced a little. No. No, Goggles was his name. That's who he was. Goggles was going to be ok, Goggles didn't have to hurt. "It's the only name I have sir."

89
There were doctors and gurneys waiting up on DoSaM's landing pads. Gerard had looked up the info on the mission once he got the call that they were coming in hot. A two man operation. Pilot Royal Lockhart and Pilot Echo Kiers. Chance.

The call had come from Banning, which likely meant that Chance was the one who was hurt. He had trauma teams waiting to meet them up on the roof and the second that they landed they moved in to meet the other Pilots. "Lockhart report!" He said as he over saw the doctors get the Pilot Echo onto the gurney and rush him toward the elevators. Chance was in good hands but his best chance was to get as much information as possible so they could best treat him. He took note of the figure wearing a broken flight helmet and standing by Banning's dragon, but now his concern was on his patient.

On Chance.

"What happened Pilot?" He asked Banning again.

Jack looked at Jonesy as he explained things. He was still drunk and not really following it all but he couldn't help but think Jonesy was just, brilliant. He probably understood shit way better than Jack ever could. He squeezed the other's rough battle and hell worn hand, it was his tether in the darkness that kept him grounded and safe.

He wanted Jonesy to hold him, but that was a burden he would never place on his second. Never ask of him. It was why he went through an endless string of shitty girlfriends, because at least they would hold him for a little while. Not that he ever told them what was wrong. He let them assume it was just the remnants of the war. They were more than happy to comfort a patriot and war hero for a little while. They could never understand though. He wouldn't want them to.

He just squeezed Jonesy's hand back, not caring that the other had squeezed his hard. He felt his heart ache when the other survivor said there were no gods. Jack had never really believed in any of that. He still didn't. In fact he couldn't stand organized religion now, but he knew Jonesy- He knew Jonah once believed. It hurt knowing that was just another thing that had been stolen.

He met Jonesy's eyes when the other looked at him. "Yeah... he did. But I could see it Jones... He didn't know I was coming, he didn't readjust his stance when I got there... he was calm and in control the whole fucking time. He isn't beat down or worn out or shit. He's fine. He's fucking fine. He-" Jack hadn't realized he had been crying. He hadn't realized he was squeezing Jonesy's hand for dear life. He took a deep shaky breath and looked down at their hands.

"He is... he's still just.. even without psionics and rank..."

The Cancer / Re: Never Quite Free (Rhi)
« on: June 20, 2017, 11:08:55 am »
He could feel eyes on him, kept his head down. Cloaked individuals weren't all too uncommon on the Cancer, most went about their business, but there were always eagle eyed bounty hunters and slavers looking for their mark or to pick off weak pray. He had to learn this the hard way, despite still being quite a bit naive. He ignored the vendors trying to hawk miracle cures and magical items at him, ignored a bar fight spilling out into the crowd.

Or tried to, until one of the bar patron's watching the fight caught his eye and caused him to stop dead in his tracks. Darvish.

His throat felt tight and his breath hitched as he slowly backed away, trying to melt unseen into the crowd, recoiling from the slaver and his entourage as they watched one guy beat the snot out of another. Shit. Shit! Ok. The Piss Hole should just be up ahead if he remembered right. He just had to go around the crowd carefully.

Aedolis Characters / Bentley Jensik, Cop

Bentley Jensik

{ALIASES}
'Benny' 'Ben' 'Jen' 'Jens' 'Jenny', mostly 'Benny'

{AGE}

{GENDER, SEXUALITY}
Male
Healthy Aedolian- with taste.

{SPECIES/ETHNICITY}
Human, as far as he knows, nothing else points to the contrary.
Aedolian

{HEIGHT/BUILD}
5'9 and a runner's build, lean and slender but all muscle.

{OCCUPATION}
Cop! (Military)

{RESIDENCE}
Haviah born and raised!
...
In the shiny shiny upper levels which are WAY nicer than where he works now.

___________
IN DEPTH STUFF
___________

{PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION}
Benny is accurately described as a very cute / handsome blonde male with scruffy hair and large dark green eyes. He has a dimpled chin, large soft looking lips, and a sun kissed complexion topped off with a soft splattering of freckles. His light, natural tan is the most obvious give away that he is from the upper levels of Haviah.

{PERSONALITY}

Dumb Blonde

While he certainly doesn't have the ego and attitude common among the upper class, little things in his mannerism and speech are dead give always- even though his apparent level of education seems to contradict this. He acts as if he has the education of basic military personnel, and isn't too bright either. Ditsy and absent-minded have both been used to describe him.

Happy-Go-Lucky!

Another major aspect of his personality is his positivity. Benny tries to see things as good and likes to give others the benefit of the doubt though he is far from the push over he seems to be when it comes to actually doing his job. He would rather just keep on smiling and keep everyone safe and happy then have to actually arrest anyone. He considers himself an idealistic realist, though he lets more of the idealism show.

Don't Tip the Apple Cart

Not looking to make waves or get promoted, he didn't take the transfer to his current assignment to further any sort of career path and is actually pretty terrified of authority figures despite being a military cop himself.

Deceptively Clever

Despite playing into the cute dumb blonde trope that fits so well with his bubbly personality, Benny is actually very smart and perceptive, so much so that it has caused him trouble in the past and it's easier to pretend he isn't so that he goes unnoticed.

My Country 'Tis Of Thee~

Benny is a loyal Aedolian Citizen through and through.

Daddy Never Loved Me

>See Daddy Issues
>>See Relationships
>>>See History

Fun Facts!:
  • Enjoys bird watching
  • Is terrified of small dark spaces
  • Loves pumpkin scents and has a collection of different candles, body sprays, body washes, shampoos, conditioners, etc. in various pumpkin scents and can tell you the name and varying accompanying scent notes by memory with a single whiff of any given one

{SPECIAL ABILITIES}
Reflectivist! Which he absolutely hates. Being a reflectivist has been nothing but trouble and pain for him since he was discovered to be one at nine years old.

{RELATIONSHIPS}
Bentley's mother gave him up at birth either because she felt he would have a better life in the upper levels, or because she just didn't want to be a mother; perhaps both. Either way he never met her and was raised by his paternal grandparents who doted on him and praised him till he was about nine and everything changed. They are still kind to him but things have never been the same since he was discovered to be a reflectivist.

Gerard Jensik- Benny's father, a Pilot Royal and Director of the Department of Science and Medicine. Benny barely knows him and has finally stopped trying to gain his love and attention.

Kosen Ydage Dae- Benny's new partner! Cop Bros! Aww yeah... cue up some stereotypical buddy cop theme song its going down. :|

{HISTORY}
Bentley Jensik should have had the picture perfect upper class Aedolian life. Born to a war hero Pilot and a midlevel mother, and raised by his paternal grandparents in the upper levels of Haviah he should have had every opportunity in the world.

He was on a psychic watch list since birth, given his parentage, and even if he had not been psychic at all he still could have pursued great things in the private sector, or even a basic military career. He even had the looks to go into modeling- possibly even hone some latent skills other avenues of entertainment. The whole of Aedolis should have been his oyster.

Except he was born with the one psychic gift no sane Aedolian wanted. He was born a reflectivist.

His abilities laid dormant till he was nine years old, and from that point on nothing was the same. He had never done anything differently, never changed as far as he knew, but suddenly everyone treated him differently. And all because his mind was unreadable. All because certain psionic gifts didn't work on him. Suddenly he was an outcast and the subject of gossip and suspicion.

Eventually he was funneled into the military as many upper class reflectivists are since there are still restrictions on them. His original plan was to pursue a medical career like his father but eventually ridicule and severe bullying forced him to consider alternative paths.

He is now a plain clothes beat cop who just got assigned a partner!

The sheer fact that Jonesy hadn't pulled away in disgust was enough for Jack. He let out a sigh and felt like at least one stone had been lifted from his chest. Still holding his Lead's hand he turned to actually look at the other scorpion, full acknowledging what that meant and how hard this was for both of them. He wanted to lie and protect Jonesy, but he also needed to tell someone. Someone else who could understand.

"Yeah. He's alive. He... I wanted to see him suffer. I think that's why I went. I want that to be why I went. I'm sure my therapist will tell me there is more to it than that." He muttered looking off for a second, trying not to let tears prick at his eyes in any visible manner. Trying to stay strong. "Jonesy. He is fucking thriving in there. They are doing it all over again. Just with prisoners now. They aren't suffering at all."

How did shit like this happen? How did Valdemar get to keep doing as he pleased while the old guard could barely sleep because of the nightmares? How did he get to be happy still? It was unjust. Was there really no punishment for wicked deeds in this world? It sickened him to his core to consider. It sickened him that his first reaction was to reach for the bottle.

First of all I am not humorless or a fucking robot. I had a great-

I was really fucking shitty. I don't eat babies what the fuck is wrong with you? And I probably am a 'bad apple' if that's what they were saying in the candidate chat. I don't know. Pilot Noble Kiers doesn't want me going in there and neither does Rhema. So I can't exactly check it anymore.

Further fucking point thanks for your concern Lilo but whatever the fuck Candidate Vaughan Liik and his little gal pals had to say about me was 100% warranted and I don't feel like filling you in on the finer points of my transgressions.

And Cinna can suck my fat cock.

Jon rolled his eyes. "Not like THAT." He said stepping on to the elevator as it opened. "I just meant it would be hard for a kid with a serpent tail to ride a dragon... don't think they even get recruited for the program." Once they were on the elevator Jon bumped shoulders with Chance and just sort of leaned against him. He liked elevator rides with Chance. They were always comforting somehow. Not that he was really afraid of elevators before, just a bit unsettled maybe? But ever since they first met on one they were just... nice now. Especially when Chance was on it with him.

"I am sure you would help them Chance. You aren't the kind to damn anyone." He chuckled looking back at his phone. "Ok it should be just down this hallway. Bingo!" He stopped outside Ritter's room. "Wanna do the honors or should I?" Jon asked as he nodded towards the door. Not that it mattered who knocked. He just hoped the kid was there so they didn't have to hunt him down. Right. Not a kid. That was hard to remember.

"I had a breakfast bar on the walk here sir. I am ready to train." He was fairly certain that Banning wasn't actually pissed at him and he wasn't about to press anything further.

The last thing he wanted to do was alienate and anger his mentor. He wanted to train. He wanted to excel. He wanted to graduated.

He still felt badly about his outburst yesterday and his entire face was still sore, bruised and swollen. Still he was ready. He could still vividly remember the details of Banning's face and the color of his eyes. To be able to map in such detail, to map in color... that was incredible. He wanted to do that again. He needed to do that again.

I am only responding because that first one was my actual name. Message you? As in privately? What did you do that cannot be discussed here?

Jack smiled that sad pained smile briefly as their hands met and he squeezed Jonesy's back lightly. Their hands remained clasped tight as that smile faded. He had to tell him. He didn't want to keep anything from Jonesy. Even if it hurt him... even if it was a betrayal, it would only be worse if his second in command found out from someone else later.

"I.. I do some pretty stupid shit every year on my anniversary. Last year... Last year was ok. Scorpius and I stayed in and I drank some, but I just-" I cried and pet Scorpius "I stayed in." He took a shaky breath and ran his free hand through his hair. He looked across the room, at the television on his wall that was barely ever watched, at the sparse cold decor that showed no actual interests or warmth.

"Before Scorpius I would go out and get drunk and hook up with people... that's how I met most of my ex girlfriends... I didn't do that this year though. I did something really fucking stupid. I just." Another deep breath. "I don't expect you to understand. I don't understand it really. Sort of.. I don't know. I just don't want to lie or keep shit from you. So I'm sorry Jones." He couldn't look at his friend, he couldn't see the look of disgust he was sure would be on his face. He squeezed Jonesy's hand again watching their interlaced fingers instead.

"I went to see Valdemar today."

Jon almost choked on a bite of his burrito as the zombie chaos spread through train. This was great. Jon pounded his chest with his fist a bit and then swallowed a gulp of his beer, washing down the last bits of the burrito. He laughed out loud, more at the absurdity of choking on the burrito in reaction to the film, than the actual film. But it was all great.

This was great. Chance was great. He needed this. Hanging out with the best friend he could ever have hoped for, great food, good movie. This was the best.

He took another swig of his beer and leaned back against the cushions more now that he had polished off the best burrito ever. He turned to look at Chance and a great big grin spread across his face.

Yeah.

This was great.
