"Yeah ok... I know the alphabet! A-B-C-D-E-F-G~!" Alexiel began to sing and thankfully for Rhys, though perhaps worryingly, he began began humming the rest instead of saying the rest of the letters.

He scooted his chair over to the drawer and started to put them in alphabetical order like instructed, still humming. He stopped humming for and filing after about a minute and looked up from the drawer, staring straight ahead and nodding like he was hearing something... and responding.

It didn't take long for Alexiel to look back at the drawer and crinkle his brow, remembering that he was doing something important with the files... what was that? Oh! Right!

"A-B-C-D-E-F-G~, I-J-H-K, L-N-M-O-P~!"

Nike flinched as Ari's fist connected with the wall. He wasn't afraid of Ari really, it was just a knee-jerk reaction.

Maybe he shouldn't have said anything. Maybe the ignorance would have been better for Ari but at the same time he couldn't not tell him. He had to known not to trust that man. "You should act like you are grateful, but don't be too obedient, pretend you trust him but don't be too compliant either. That's all I can say. I can only guess what he wants from how I 'screwed up'. I wasn't his 'type'. I am sorry Ari." He muttered softly.

He didn't think Ari was a moron, but he wasn't like Nike. There was no trust for him to put in anyone because this was all there was for him. This was his life and expecting anything different was foolish.

Ykan ignored the retorts directed at him losing his shit in a fit of laughter. It wasn't too often he went from nervous as fuck to just... surprised. This guy and his 'food truck' could wipe them out in a second- could tell shit about people on board who weren't on their roster- could seemingly do just about fucking anything and then just pops back on screen after obliterating ships like nothing- eating some fucking fruit. It was hilarious because it was just so absurd. And yet now instead of frowning and being super protective and glaring daggers at the com he was grinning and giddy- more so than normal.

"Can you do chicken? And raviolis? And... shit what do you like Kyssimri...?" Oh, right he got freaked out and ran off didn't he? More than understandable. Poor kid. "Fuck I don't know something carb heavy I guess? Think something for like... some crazy body builder who needs to like overload on food..." That should be good right? "Hey so... from one cook to another, what's you favorite food to make? Oh fuck you don't even need to worry about rations and ingredient longevity huh? That's amazing!"

Ykan turned his grin at Ari who was also back to going along with shit and chatting the guy up. Good. Sarah could handle the technical shit. Ykan would still be suspicious but there was one big ol' point in their favor. This guy didn't try to kill them yet.

THE MARGAD SCORPIONS

I. About the Scorpions

The Margad Scorpios are a defensive squadron that protects Aedolis and its resources in times of conflict. During times of peace they are called in on missions where mental devastation of a threat or enemy is deemed necessary.

The Scorpions use psychological warfare tactics, aided by the use of hallucinogenic gas and a variety of psionic abilities, to decimate, confuse and destroy their enemies.

Ships and Factions / Havina Copperheads- Silence is Golden [WIP]
« on: June 23, 2018, 10:53:06 am »
“Some legends are told, some turn to dust or to gold.”

THE HAVINA COPPERHEADS
Gold Team

I. About the Copperheads

The Havina Copperheads are not merely the winningest squadron in the history of the Games, they are an elite squadron specializing in reconnaissance, although publicly their squad function is tactics and special ops training. This public facade is easily maintained since only the training and administrative members of the squadron are publicly known. The ‘faceless’ members, Pilots who when associating with or in an official capacity are acting on behalf of or in conjunction with the Copperheads are in specialized uniform that obscures their face, are believed to be ‘trainees’. In the official record trainees are Cardinals who require more specialized training to better be utilized in other squadrons or specialized positions. They are widely believed to be a bootcamp squad where the best Pilots are forged.

In actuality, the Copperheads do not function like a true squadron. Most of the actual members (operatives) do not know each other, even if they have worked together on missions. Most of the faceless that are seen training in public are not even in the Copperheads, same goes for the ones who participate in the squadron games. All actual operatives go by codenames, their Pilot files sealed and only in paper form in archives until they are decommissioned from the Copperheads or are promoted to the training and administrative branch of the squadron. Most members are only in the squadron for a few years, when they then ‘graduate candidacy’ in official records and join other squadrons or fields.

_______________

II. Objectives

-Infiltrate and observe enemies in their territory to recover or gain military strategy or information.
-Dismantle any immediate threats to Aedolis.
-Do not get discovered.
.

_______________

III. The Copperheads Want You (but maybe not you)

The ideal candidate for the Copperheads is loyal but malleable. They know their objectives and do not question orders, but they are able to blend into enemy territory seemlessly. This often requires less stealth and more empathy. The ideal operative becomes part of the society / group / military they are infiltrating. They can strip away their real personality and fit into the role they need to play. Strong psionic abilities are rarely ideal for this squadron, more subdued and unnoticeable abilities are prefered so that operatives are not easily identified as psychics. All Copperheads go through secret intensive training and are thoroughly bonded to their dragons in a way that exceeds Network addiction. Copperheads can spend extended periods of time off planet on assignment and their dragons have to approve them for operative status after their unwavering loyalties have been proven.

_______________

V. Squad Roles

Unlike the structure of most squadrons the Copperheads are broken into groups based on their function in the squadron. Every member of the Copperheads has to be able to function as a one person army, while still retaining their loyalty to their squadron and to Aedolis.

Administration and Training-

This is the public side of the Copperheads, the ones that do PR work and people (public and Pilots alike) know and recognize. While intense training and conditioning of operatives is definitely a large part of the Admin and Training team’s job, they also act as handlers for operatives in the field.

Operatives-

Operatives in the field, once cleared for assignment status, can fall into various classifications, solo operatives, partnered operatives, short term assignments, and long term assignments. The status of an operatives classifications can change at any time and do not denote rank. Burnout among Copperhead operatives is extremely high with operatives usually only lasting a few years in the field before they are promoted to Admin/Training or are decommissioned from the Copperheads and ‘graduate from Candidacy’ on official records, joining another specialization, sometimes another Squadron. If an operative dies on the field their official record will state they were TRIM’d from Candidacy.

Trainees-

The ones known as the ‘Faceless’. All fresh out of Candidacy, the Faceless undergo general training that is used to weed out actual potentials for the squadron. These are the Pilots people see the Copperheads training staff working with, and most of these Pilots will never actually be Copperheads themselves. Some of these Pilots do go on to join other squadrons instead, others go into other Pilot specializations.

Margad / One Hell of a Welcome (Margad Scorpions)
« on: February 19, 2018, 09:37:29 pm »
It was a strange and rather shaking occurrence, calling the squad together early for anything at all. Making sure no one was on rotation to be off. Though he wished Jonesy were. He truly did. Jack's stomach soured the minute Pilot Joan Archer's file reached him.

Not being able to say no to her joining their ranks made it worse.

If he had worked harder on filling slots in his squadron he would have maintained the say in who was on his squadron, and yet his- indecision? Self doubts? Not wanting to bring more Pilots into the smoldering ashes of Hell... Whatever the case the power vaccuum was open and now there was nothing to be done.

The Scorpions were his squadron now. It wasn't supposed to be like this. Of course he knew that wasn't how it worked. He had no valid argument for rejecting Pilot Cardinal Archer and her dragon wanted her on a squad. There was no changing this.

Jack glanced over at his Squad leader as the rest of their team filed in for the unscheduled meet and greet. A strange reception for an introduction that would disrupt more than half the Scorpions. The training hall was mostly quiet, small chatter occurring between a few members of the team. Vijaya stood at attention at the front of the room, Guidry hung towards the back and Riss scanned the room, eyes accented by dark circles.

'This will be a good addition to your team Pilot Ladner.' The words echoed in his mind. He disagreed. For her sake and for that of his team.

His face was serious, hard and drawn but he always looked that way during training. "Alright, attention Scorpions. As I am sure you have guessed, I called you all here to introduce you to our new recruit."

He looked over to ...Archer. This all felt too much like something Ruslan would have done. Calling everyone together to make them greet the fresh meat. Bile seemed to slosh against the walls of his gut at the thought. At least some of the newer members caught wind and brought snacks it seemed. He knew welcome parties weren't uncommon in most squads but thinking of this as such was wrong. It was ripping off a band aid. That was all.

"This is Pilot Cardinal Archer. Pilot Cardinal J-" He had practiced saying it. Saying it like it was nothing. Just a name. He coughed to cover his vocal stumble. "Pilot Cardinal Joan Archer."

The winces of the old guard at the name were visible to the Scorpion's commander but he pressed on to cover it. "She is new here and I expect you all to show her the ropes. We will be learning a new formation and beginning drills in an hour. I suggest you all take this time to get acquainted, eat something and begin stretching."

Margad / Re: The Best Carrots taste of... Carrot [nix!]
« on: December 12, 2017, 07:11:54 am »
Riss decidedly did not like this kid. He barely knew him, but what he knew of him was he was enough surface observations to decide he didn't like him, and his company- like the company of anyone, was unwanted.

Despite that, when the reached the market he found himself going from produce stand to produce stand waiting to make sure Ellis was still following him. Making sure the kid didn't get lost. A ridiculous notion since Ellis was a Pilot after all.

"Salad." Was all he offered in response to the kid's prattle. Ellis was cute, if it weren't for his scales and markings he might have been recruited under the old regime, even though those fuckers were rotting in a cell or hopefully dead, it still seemed sad when new recruits joined their ranks. Nothing would happen to these poor saps but it still seemed like a miserable occasion. Poor fools straight out of Candidacy looking forward and being proud of joining a squad. Maybe it was cause it reminded him of himself at that age.

After selecting a few vegetables Riss made his way to the lettuce and picked up head after head, turning them, putting them back, squeezing them a bit and listening to the sound they made. After picking what appeared to be the best one on the stand he turned to Ellis. "Where ya from?"

Riss' voice tried to be gruff, tried to hide the Amristan accent, the rising inflection and almost sing song like quality it bore, but even trying couldn't mask it completely.

Talking made him... Far less intimidating.

How had he not noticed that one of the other Pilots mulling around the lobby was the very kid he was waiting on? The truth was easy and stung.

He didn't remember what Ellis looked like. In his mind the lid looked very different than he did in reality. Or more accurately he was confusing Ellis with someone the kid reminded him of.

Instead of trying to apologize, or explain himself he answered all of Ellis' comments and questions with one simple, "Its fine."

He did at least gesture to his own nag though it was considerate of the other Scorpion. Riss made his way to the door, looking back at Ellis as if to say 'are you coming?'.

Asking if the new over eager happy kid wanted anything was asking for trouble. If he had been face to face with the new Scorpion there was no way he would have opened his mouth. He probably wouldn't have even asked Guidry, and at least that alien brat was tolerable.

In all fairness he didn't know this Ellis kid enough to judge. He was too cheery and too loud though. What Jack was thinking Riss didn't presume to know, but he sure as shit wouldn't have recruited Mr Sunshine.

Normally none of this would matter. He didn't have to work with these new kids the way the rest of the squad did. And yet here he was, waiting in the lobby, checking the time on his com and wondering how long he needed to wait before it was ok to leave without the kid. As a senior squad member, it was probably not right to leave without him at all.

Riss tapped his foot impatiently and swung his shopping tote over his shoulder and looked toward the elevators catching a glimpse of his own disheveled appearance in the reflective chrome doors. Even his oversized tee was a wrinkled mess. Maybe he should have thrown a hat on over his mess of silver blue hair. It didn't matter. He shoved his hands in his pockets to make sure he had his cigarettes. Good.

Margad / Rake the Sands Until They Surface (Nephero!)
« on: December 10, 2017, 09:41:22 am »
Doubt was an insidious poison. More powerful and effective than top shelf whiskey.

It was doubt that plagued the Scorpion's commander. Doubt in his abilities, doubt in his convictions, doubt in his purpose. It was creeping into every fiber of him, spreading since he saw Valdemar on his anniversary. Holding the squad together was seeming like an insurmountable task these days, even if Jack managed to keep the others from knowing. Jonesy had to know though. Had to know that so much was off with Jack since that night. He worried that he was now putting too large a burden on his Lead too.

Scorpius nuzzled into Jack's chest as they entered Jonesy's apartment. The little fluff of a dog was always with Jack, there was no reason to leave him at home, no reason Jack would want to. This was about Riss, but that didn't mean Scorpius couldn't help.

"Hey Jonesy." Jack called out as he made his way to the couch, careful that now stray Borises came out from hiding to greet him.

Jack couldn't help but think back to his earlier conversation with Yavul. He wondered how Hyakinthos would handle this situation. If Hyakinthos could handle this. He envied Yavul. Even with all the shit the Valkyries' commander had been through, hand to deal with, he envied him. If things had been different could he have been the kind of commander Yavul was? Could the Scorpions have been a family like that?

Jack pet Scorpius' head lost in what ifs and a nagging feeling that he was just perpetuating things by being the Scorpions' commander. Their new members deserved a squad like Yavul's, but that was something he could never provide them. He wasn't even helping the old guard anymore.

It had been nice to see Riss talking more, even just in the chat. Jack had been hoping that being around Kurush was helping, but obviously not. Not talking with Riss was no longer an option either. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to say to a man older than him, who had been dealing with Hell longer.

Maybe Valdemar was right. Maybe he wasn't fit to be commander.

___________
IN DEPTH STUFF
___________

{PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION}

It's hard for most people to believe the gaunt and scruffy man before them used to be a practical cherub of cuteness. The man Riss has become has an all around gruff appearance and a standoff-ish vibe that paints it all in big strokes of 'piss off'.

His once bright sky blue soft wavy hair is now balding and a muted silvery blue, his golden brown eyes no longer hold the sparkle of his youth and his pale skin is rough, wrinkled and scarred, most notably one along his right cheek. His face is drawn and he has a short beard framing his angular face. Everything about Riss' appearance says 'I don't give a fuck, leave me alone, I will eat your face'.

When out of uniform he wears whatever is comfortable and baggy. Nothing to accent his actually toned frame, which adds to his skinny / lanky look despite only being average height.

{PERSONALITY}

SHEEP IN WOLF'S CLOTHING
Like most of the Scorpions he comes across as scary, cold, and grumpy. Detached, grumpy and scared would be more accurate. He is not at all the lone wolf that his image and attitude project, in reality he is a scared sheep who could barely hurt anyone. Good thing his job is saving lives, not ending them.

PEOPLE ONLY HURT YOU
Riss does not talk to others much, he does not socialize and he does not get close. It is only recently that he has begun trying to be social on the Pilot Chat or other such removed avenues of 'social interaction' and even that is strained and is very difficult for him. In his experience people only leave you, hurt you or pretend to be your friend till they stab you in the back. Because of this there are very few he trust or can talk to, even within the old guard.

LOYALTY FROM TRAUMA
His only true loyalties lie with his current commander Pilot Noble Jacob "Jack" Ladner, and squadron leader Pilot Echo Jonah "Jonesy" Cole to a lesser but still significant extent. He has no love or respect for Pilots as a whole and none for his own dragon. His only grounding bond is doing what he can for the man who saved him and the Scorpion squadron he runs. That said he is too much of a sheep to step out of line with the government or dissent in any way.

PAINFUL MEMORIES AND PAINED BY MEMORIES
Like all "Old Guard" Scorpions, Riss suffers from severe PTSD, depression, and shares other common Scorpion aversions such as sex and alcohol. Riss' personality and appearance have both changed drastically over his time with the Scorpions. He used to be cheery, eager to learn and help in anyway possible, something that even candidacy and extensive medical training hadn't shaken him of. The painful memories of his psychological and sexual abuse under the reign of former commander Valdemar are deep wounds, but remembering who he used to be and how he used to be hurts more. The loss of what they stole from him hurts the most.

Fun Facts!:
  • Loves fresh produce, especially green vegetables.
  • Has an Amristah accent that he tries to hide by being gruff, quiet, and just feigning more of a Margad speech pattern.

{SPECIAL ABILITIES}
Telepathy: Enough to qualify for candidacy and strong enough to make it through and bond with a dragon.

Telekinesis: His strongest psychic attribute. He can easy move heavy objects as well as use his telekinesis like a third or even fourth arm and with great precision. He has utilized this ability when having to preform some difficult in the field medical procedures by himself.

Intellect- When it comes to most things he can be as dumb as a brick, and in fact, he likes being seen that way as it makes him more invisible. The truth is he is brilliant and as gifted a combat medic as they come. He could easily have gotten a position as a surgeon in DoSaM or any other hospital after the war, but circumstances prevented that.

{RELATIONSHIPS}
The only people he likes and trusts and Jack and Jonesy. He even has a hard time with other members of the old guard, and them with him.

A lot of this seems to stem from the fact that he was very close with and quietly followed around a former Scorpion by the name of Judikael Ekkehard until his death. Judikael was a former assistant squadron leader for the Scorpions and viewed with disdain by the rest of the old guard since Judikael had abandoned the ranks of the tormented and become one of their tormentors. Riss' obedience to Judikael despite this, coupled with his role as squad medic, made Riss an outsider among the broken as well.

Kurush Suhail- Riss and Kurush were never close friends, but they were close when it came to working together. Kurush was also friends with Laur, and Laur was every old guard Scorpion's big brother. Kurush was there when Riss joined the Scorpions and they have known each other for a long time. Riss resents and blames Kurush for leaving the Scorpions. He partially blames Kurush for not being there when Judikael and Laur died.

Adinnioch- Riss' very mechanically minded and apathetic dragon.

{HISTORY}

Dorian Baroffki grew up in Amristah during the war, but it wasn't as bad as it sounded. He was a happy kid and one of 13, so he was never alone- until he had to leave for Candidacy. Being the only psychic in a large family should have felt isolating, or given him delusions of grandeur for the ATC to beat out of him. It did neither of those things. He was still a humble family loving kid from Amristah. He was still happy and upbeat through all of his training, and while he realized quickly that no amount of training, drilling and conditioning would make him ok with shooting actual living creatures, he was fortunate enough to have a mentor who steered him towards medical science training, and supported him so he could become a medic.

If he had been dumber, if he had been given a mentor who was set on only producing soldiers, he probably would have ended up TRIM'd. If he hadn't been lucky enough to be put on a team with Judikael Ekkehard in stage 3, he probably would have been TRIM'd. If Aedolis hadn't been still in the midst of fighting insurgence groups and still at the tail end of the war, hurting for Pilots, he probably would have been TRIM'd. But he was lucky, humble and grateful for all his opportunities and fortunate circumstances.

He was dedicated to becoming a medic, and working along side those who were better suited to be soldiers. He was looking forward to hopefully joining his best friend Judikael again after graduation. After he graduated he got word that the Scorpions needed a new medic, and Judikael told him to apply, he did. He thought it was a dream come true. It was far from that.

His best friend led him right into the spider's web. And he did so on purpose.

This was insane.

It was ridiculously fucking stupid that he was afraid of leaving his own fucking apartment alone. Or just being alone. Everything had gotten scarier since they got back from their trip. He refused to even check his deliveries this past week or so.

Packages were only good things if you ordered them yourself.

He had been so fucking clingy with Vasili too. Not that his husband seemed to mind. It had been kinda nice. It probably just seemed like newlywed stuff...

Yet here he was, stewing in his apartment alone, looking out the window from an angle so hopefully the now all too familiar hooded figure outside wouldn't actually see him. Anytime he was alone that guy was following him. Watching him. If Vasili was around or other squadron members, he wouldn't follow him. Or that was how it seemed.

Rando knew Yavul was right. He had to tell Vasili about this but.

He meant to tell him the night Vasili picked him up from the store.

He only managed to lie by omission because Vasili didn't outright ask him the specific questions. Of course his husband knew he was upset and something was wrong but. If he had told him that night there would have been a scandal. Vasili would have probably beat the creep up or worse. Not that the guy didn't deserve it. He did. But the trouble it would have caused with PR, maybe even inquiry... it wasn't worth it.

Rando watched, as the guy looked up at the window and he jerked even further out of view. Did the freak see him? Did he think some sort of meaningful eye contact had been made or something disgusting like that?

Rando sunk down to the floor and scooted his feet along the faux wood tiles till his knees met his chest. Was he supposed to just cower in his fucking apartment till Vasili came over?? He didn't even want to be here these days. Even when Vas was with him. He hadn't played any of his shit in days and if it wasn't for the network lockout and subsequent reprieve because of Vasili being hurt he would have been penalized for not making weekly rank. He might have been kicked off the Cyclones.

That's why he was here now. To get his rank up. But he couldn't concentrate, he had no interest in stupid games and PR bullshit. For once he would rather just be in a training hall punching something that actually met his fist.

Pilot Royal Reynard,

Good morning, I hope you are well. I know you have been under a lot of stress lately and it was not my intention to compound that with my thoughtlessness.

I would like to formally apologize for my outburst in the Pilot Chat the other day and any and all rude comments I made towards you or your staff. I did not mean to be so crass or fault you for anything involved in the situation. My fear and concern got the better of me, though this does not excuse my actions. Please be advised I am taking steps and working with Aurora PR to ensure that this will not happen again. Thank you sir, for your grace and understanding regarding this matter.

Sincerely,

Telepathy- Very open communication wise, not much else in the way of telepathy.

Entropikinesis- This skill is rather unique and more of a hindrance than a 'gift'. Adalwin can actually accelerate the breakdown of cells in any organic thing by way of direct physical contact. The bigger the organism the longer it takes to damage more permanently. Because of this he is afraid of touching anything living. Worst yet, it takes him about 5 minutes of direct contact to incapacitate a creature of humanoid size, which is not practical for combat. While he has learned to control it and he is always wearing at least gloves he does not take chances with this ability and does not touch others. (Notes: This ability does not work on dragons as they regenerate their cells at a faster rate than he can break them down, also it does not affect reflectivists.)

{RELATIONSHIPS}

Ursyth- his awesome wonderful dragon.

{PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION}
Beautiful is a quite accurate if not lacking descriptive for this Pilot, and it is part of their job to ensure they stay that way.

Their body type leans heavily on the androgynous side and lends itself well to all fashion, regardless of gender intent. They are often dolled up, even when in uniform they are often sporting makeup due to having either come from a shoot or public appearance or having to head to one after. They won't do their makeup for morning drills or on the rare day off where they doesn't go out, but aside from that it has become somewhat of war paint and they are rarely seen without at least some eyeliner.

Their skin is a lovely shade of caramel and their eyes are a pale blue grey. Their hair currently reaches down to the center of their back and is royal blue on top that fades into emerald green, often braided at least partially.

{PERSONALITY}

PRIM AND PROPER
The Purdia family is an integral part of the upper crust of Aedolian society. They know it too but unlike some of the other families in their class they are very kind and generous. They donate to the military academies in Havina and are easily one of the most widely liked of the more influential Haviah/Havina elite families. As Ranea is currently the youngest Pilot (not to mention psychic) in the family, social decorum was drilled into them from an early age and they are expected to be a role model. Almost everyone in their family is military, since very few have been Pilot worthy in the last few generations they are one of only four Purdia Pilots currently alive, one of which is retired. Obedience and proper etiquette are paramount.

LOVE ME LOVE ME, SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME
The illusion of care and affection is something they can discern very easily, learning the difference between it and real warmth and love very early on. All Ranea really wants at their core is to be loved and accepted. It is something they have found difficult while carrying the burden of their family name.

WON'T BE YOUR DISAPPOINTMENT
They are afraid of disappointing their nation, their dragon, their squadron and their family more than anything. They will never speak of this fear though.

Fun Facts!:
  • Most well known for their use of 'We' or 'our' pronouns for themself.

{SPECIAL ABILITIES}
Telepathy- Basically Ranea's only psionic skill, they are very gifted in this common ability. Their prowess at thought implanting borders on hypnotic, even skilled Veteran Pilots are often unable to detect it, not that they would use such tactics outside of combat scenarios.

{HISTORY}
Blah blah blah elitist old blood Aedolian family blah blah blah military brat, blah blah will add more later.

You are irresponsibly proposing a suicide mission that puts all of us in jeopardy and then you preach idealistic nonsense about how we cannot act in a manner of 'every man for himself'. You are the one being selfish. You threaten us all with your ill advised plan, if it can even be called that.

When they catch you they will not kill you right away. You will be taken to the Axis Point. Your mind will be probed. Torn apart at the seams for information on the rest of us while you are physically tortured for your crimes. Then if you are fortunate enough you will be executed.

Of course if you decide to engage in this little plan of yours alone, as none of us are ignorant enough to join you for TRIM subject who will only be a further liability, I will execute you myself.

Understood?

The Rest of Aedolis / Re: How to do a barbecue, Solartan Style
« on: September 05, 2017, 03:39:14 pm »
This whole trip could not get any worse in his mind.

First and for most was how much trouble he would probably be in when his commander found out about this little excursion, but he was not about to back down when Grisham was so gun ho about it all. Surely as the commander of another squadron he should know it was dangerous and reckless for him to be partaking in such dangerous recreational activities. If something happened to Mr Dynamo while playing exterminator with another squad what sort of laughing stock would that make him?

It sort of made Ranea smile, but the idea mostly made him sick. He doubt the capabilities of only a select few on this little hunting party and neither himself were on that list.

Still. He was hardly thrilled that the flying arrangements worked out as they did. Grishmanstealer was situated nice and cozy behind Yavul and Ranea was stuck with his arms around Pilot Echo Arika Grancha the burliest woman he had ever laid eyes on. It was probably comical in some way. A slender toned man clinging to a hulking woman.

Still he couldn't help but be jealous as he watched the two commanders together as they flew away from the dome. He barely noticed Arika asking if he was alright, even though the sound went into his com. "We're fine." He replied smoothly, not letting his jealousy consume him. Now that they were outside the dome they had to be on guard. Even 'recreational' activities could easily go awry. There were beasts and raiders out in the wastes. These lands were dangerous and not something to under estimate. The second you did such a foolish thing you were done for.

_____________

Arika was really happy to have the pretty boy holding on to her, there was no lying about that. As a woman who loved pretty and cute things, even if they didn't seem to 'suit' her, she had to be happy that Ranea fucking Purdia was riding behind her! And yet it was bittersweet because it was so fucking obvious this boy was pining hard for Yavul, who once again seemed completely fucking oblivious to shit. How many dates with this beauty was Yav gonna fuck up???

Maybe she should just steal the pretty away.

They flew out to the spot without a hitch, Arika kept checking back to see how Adal was fairing too. He seemed to be adjusting well, it was always interesting to see how fresh meat acclimated to being a Pilot, being in a squad, and being in Solarta. Maybe it was because Adal was older for a new graduate that he was doing so well already. Still she wouldn't be much of an assistant squad leader if she didn't look out for him.

Ranea was another story. He seemed quite capable but he wasn't a Valkyrie, his style was very different from what she had seen of him in combat scenarios, but then again the whole Apcintoch vibe was very different, and she would know. Apcintoch was her home town after all. How much trouble would he be in for being out here? Did his commander even know? Pilot Purdia didn't really seem like a rule breaker but Arika couldn't picture his commander or PR cell being ok with this hunting trip.

Well. Prying and criticizing wouldn't help shit. She'd just make sure Ranea didn't scratch his pretty face up so he wouldn't get in more trouble. "You wanna stay here an fly on Rebar? Not sure how you fancy folks prefer ta hunt." She offered more to keep Ranea out of harm's way then out of ignorance to the Alicantos' fighting style.

___________

Ranea tried not to take that as an insult. He enjoyed flying on his own dragon, Rebar was nice enough, but there was no bond there. And he didn't want to sit and watch while Grisham 'racked up points' as it were. "No, I can get dirty just fine." He replied into his helmet as Rebar landed.

It wasn't long after that the scorpions started rushing from water being dropped on them. Ranea relaxed, concentrating on their enemies and their surroundings. He had no sniper cover here, but that was fine. Reading beasts minds wasn't the same as humans, but the frantic energy was all he really needed to see, no deep motives or cunning plans. Fear. Confusion. Ready to lash out at anything in their way. He kept his comrades mostly in his peripherals as he gunned down one scorpion with a standard phaser gun. No fancy electric nightmare guns required. Being on the offensive was actually a bit liberating. It was necessary given his companions in this missio- recreational activity. Evasive measures in this situation would put the others in a higher line of fire. Besides. He was going to go get the biggest one.

Kyssimri resisted the urge to look behind him, to make sure Darvish and company hadn't noticed him. If he looked back he would be noticed. He would be caught. And so close to safety too. He could do this. He had encountered so much worse and escaped and was fine. He was fine and he was almost to Gen and he could do this.

An audible sigh of relief escaped him when he saw the little hole in the wall bar, but he didn't stop moving, didn't lift his head too much, even when he entered the dark dingy establishment. He couldn't relax till he reached the bar at the back of the lower level and saw Gen. He was safe. He was home.

___________________ ____________

Things were pretty normal today at the Pisshole. A lot of regulars, some shady business being conducted in the darker corners but that was hardly new or exciting. A nice calm day was fine though. Gen was hardly one to argue with a slow but steady day. There was always work to be done after all.

He was not the kind of man who was surprised by very little but there was one thing he had not been expecting today. The cloaked figure approaching the bar.

Maygen Shrayd eyed the individual as the other's gaze raised. His heart thumped. "Kyss." He muttered under his breath, coming around the counter to hold the boy's shoulders, to make sure he was really here.
