__________________QUICK STATS
Name: Raf Tenlem

Gender: M
Species: Edani and some unknown “alien” type
Ethnicity: Edani
Height: 5’11"
Occupation: Space Pirate: thief, body guard, or gun for hire
Residence: A small ship suitable to live four, and small enough to be piloted and navigated by one person and to be practical for use of a jump drive. Physical Description
Raf is tall for an Edani, but not very tall in the grand scheme of ‘average’ height in the universe. His height is likely due to whatever spices the John who knocked up his mom was. Other than his height, he’s fairly unremarkable looking, aside from the scattering of nasty scars on his body… most of which are covered by his clothes. All prizes of ten years of combat missions. He had hair that varies naturally from light brown to sandy blonde depending on how much sunlight he's gotten recently, and he has light grey-blue eyes. His skin is fair, and generally not super tanned unless he's had cause to be outside a lot for some reason.

Personality
Raf is like sandpaper, only sharper. If you take him at face value, he's just an angry asshole. He’s hard and cold on the outside. He takes no one’s shit.

He’s very jaded and feels betrayed by Edanith, sense they just laid down arms and accepted a treaty. So bring up the war at your own pearl. He was very proud of his service, however; which is a point of contention inside himself. Once-upon-a-time he had found a leader inside himself, but those days are long past. He can't even find anything to care about these days.

The emotional scars are worse than his physical ones though, he’s got a great deal of survivor’s guilt and has been suffering for a long time. He has nightmares about it still.

He’s always picking fights and pissing off people – dangerous people – and a large part of that is in the vain hope that maybe someday soon someone will put him out of his fucking misery.

He drinks a lot these days, and bar fights are one of his favorite ways to unwind.

Magic/Abilities
Raf is a psionic, probably another gift from his sperm donor. He definitely doesn’t advertise this, but he is also definitely not above using it to his advantage. He has both the ability to use telepathy and telekinesis. He’s not super talented at either, but they both sure have come in handy now and again.

Relationships
Raf hasn’t met a person who he hasn’t either run away from or clung to while they died. In short, he’s never had any real long-term relationships, platonic or romantic. Because either they left or he did. He never had a really stable anything when he was growing up, so anytime he starts to feel like he’s getting attached to someone, he cuts loose and runs. Still, he has a very protective streak in him. This showed it’s self when he was living on the streets as a kid, and it came out tenfold when he found his first real family in the military. He’d live and die for the other members of his unit. They weren’t supposed to die though. It was supposed to be him. He was the one who was supposed to die.

History
Raf was born the son of a poor prostitute. Liss was one of the other working girls he grew up around. They used to trade off watching him when he was too little too look after himself. Liss is the toughest person he’s ever known. She was also the one who cared for him the most, more than his mother ever did. They lived in miserable conditions, but they lived. They laughed… sometimes, until Raf got old enough, and his mom though he should start earning his keep.

The slimy guy never even managed to lay a finger on him. Raf jumped out a second story window onto the 'balcony' below and then down to the street and took off. He never went back. He never missed his mom, he did miss Liss though.

He spent the latter half on the streets and in and out of shelters and the ‘child protective system.’ It was great at the child part, not so good at the protective part. Somehow, he managed to get threw school anyway, the system kept trying to drag him back to it, anyway.

On a whim, he joined the Edanith military when he got out of school. Even he doesn’t know how he wound up graduating. The promise of three squares a day, clothing and a roof over his head provided – that and they’d give him a gun? Well hell, he’d been contemplating living in prions being easier than living on the streets… that had to be a step up though, right?
It turned out, the military liked tough guys who followed orders, it also turned out; he liked the comradely of people who would never abandon him. Little did he know, those few people he managed to actually build deep meaningful relationships with would all end up dead.

He’d given his own blood sweat and tears to the people he served with, and all the people he cared about had died for… for what? For nothing. They just gave up. The war ended. People moved on. No one even cared anymore. He’d live and die for the other members of his unit. They were the only real family he'd ever had.

SO FUCK EVERYONE.

Raf left the service as soon as he was able and then did what he’s always done best. He ran. He drank a lot. Got into a lot of fights. Got involved with a lot of the wrong people. Wound up becoming a thief, muscle for hire, a gun for a dangerous heist or theft. A… nothing and no one important. Someone no one cares about and no one should. Someone who blows around on the cosmic winds and lands wherever he lands without a whole lot of purpose left in him.
