Physical Description

Cheveko is Whetu meaning that while humanoid he is not of Aedolis and has features that are not entirely human. He is a tall man built like a monster truck. His body is broad and heavily msucled with very well defined muscles. He has a square jaw with a cleft chin and sharp, high cheekbones. His nose is rounded and squat on his face.

What sets him apart from humans are his eyes, hair, and teeth. Set against copper skin, Cheveko's hair is teal in color with dark cobalt tips. He wears it in an undercut style with the sides and back shaved down close and the top kept longer. His stubble comes in as cobalt but when longer turns teal as well. He never has more than stubble on his face though usually tries to keep clean shaven.

His eyes though are his most defining feature and a known trait for all Whetu. The sclera and pupils of his eyes are a mixture of pink, blue, and purple swirled with shining flecks of silver like stars set in a galaxy. The irises of his eyes are silver and reminiscent of seeing a moon during the day time with their faded outline appearance. He usually keeps these hidden in public by wearing a ballcap and keep his head lowered. It is easier for him if he avoids drawing extra attention to himself.

As the Whetu are also an extremely predatory species on their planet, Cheveko was born with two sets of canine teeth as opposed to a traditional human's one set. When he smiles this gives him an especially menacing look that is only accentuated by his alien eyes and massive size.

Personality

Cheveko carries himself very much like the apex predator he was born and raised as. He is confident and self-assured in all he does. Once a decision has been made it is nigh impossible to get him to change it. Any who oppose him face a bull-headed doggedness like no other. Cheveko will not give up on the hunt or an ideal until the opposing side submits to him.

In turn, he is also a very loyal, protective, and steadfast individual. He is proud to serve Aedolis after all the country has down to protect and help him in his time of need. Though incredibly hard earned, anyone who gains his trust has it for life. He does flit between wanting to be immersed deeply within the crowd and wanting to be alone to reflect and ground himself again.

Cheveko though privately, is still deeply devout to his old religion. He firmly believes the stars have a plan for him and that what has been written shall come to pass. He needs only trust in fate and she will guide him home to his people once more. He understands there is a purpose to his being here and he eagerly awaits the journey to realizing it.

Magic/Abilities

Telepathy: He is a rather strong telepath, able to pick up loud surface thoughts and convey messages back and forth across medium distances to those that are open to receiving them. He can also force himself into the thoughts of others and through mental shields in order to find what he wants. Understanding the cultural beliefs of this in Aedolis he does not do it unless instructed to. Where he is from though all Whetu are telepaths and will submit their minds to their leader when called to do so.

Empathy: This is a common ability among the Whetu though not all of the species have a gift beyond telepathy. It was not until Cheveko came to Aedolis that he truly began to develop and expand on this ability. He is incapable of manipulating the emotions of others nor of knowing what causes someone to feel angry or sad, only that they are. He is however addicted to the heady experience of feeling powerful emotions. Cheveko loves being in large groups or crowds where a lot is being felt all at once. He can easily be swept up by it and finds it to be the best and most addicting drug in existence. He has gotten in trouble for going out of his way to experience the rush.

Astral Projection: This is a rare and forgotten of though heavily prophesied gift among the Whetu. Cheveko possess a special form of telepathy that allows him to send his spirit out of his body and into his environment to search ahead or behind. He must have a form of tether to his body otherwise he can become lost. Failure to return to his body can result in coma and eventual death. It also helps to have an artifact or anchor towards the part he is wishing to go towards instead of wandering aimlessly. For instance if he had something belonging to a missing person he could use it to try and locate them as it would be a focal point. The experience for long and frequent periods of time does become exhausting. There is also a limit as to how far Cheveko can travel though he is always trying to push this further and further. Using this gift also places him at great weakness as his body becomes completely defenseless and catatonic until the time he returns. It is not uncommon for him to experience it though while sleeping. While he can control projecting himself while conscious, he does not always have control over it while dreaming and has been known to go and come back all during a single night.

History

Cheveko was not born on Aedolis. He likely was not even born in the same galaxy. He is the only son of his Whetu tribe's chief and was considered the much asked for blessing of his people. Seers had prophesied for centuries of a babe born that would with his first battle cry herald the stars themselves into falling in supplication. The prophecies spoke of a boy becoming a man and one day unleashing a great river upon the planet that would at last turn the everlasting desert into a paradise. The man would walk among the stars and one day bring an end to the feuding of the planet's two warring humanoid species. There were countless versions of these prophecies and many argued whether or not they applied to the newborn. Cheveko's birth caused schisms among the clans and added fuel to the war between the Wenapo and the Whetu as the Wenapo had their own myths and beliefs about the boy and would rather see him killed than be the destroyer of their species.

Prophecies and weighty hopes aside, he was born during a meteor shower and the night sky did light up as they streaked across the sky during his first breath. His father, a firm believer in the prophets and the stars, named his son accordingly and raised young Cheveko to be a leader and a warrior. From an early age he became a strong telepath, able to communicate easily and freely with his people and push into their minds when necessary in order to be heard.

At seven he went on his first starwalk, causing quite a stir among his tribe as another of the myths was realized about him. Cheveko was encouraged to use this gift often in order to strengthen it as he was the only one in centuries upon centuries of all the tribes to be blessed by the stars with it.

By ten he had proved himself to be a man among his people, having brought down his first kill on a solo hunt and thereby providing for his people. It was not long after that he began to join the older men in the raids against the Wenapo meant to bring down their enemies in order to provide a better way of life for the Whetu. He made a name for himself as a right terror to the opposing telekinetic species and at fourteen was one of their most sought after targets.

He was captured and sold to off-planet small-time slavers. The Wenapo hoped that by sending him away they would at last have the chance to defeat their enemies and at last industrialize the planet to better support life in such an inhospitable place. They felt that slavery was a far worse punishment for a free creature than death as it was an agony that could be endured for centuries as opposed to hours.

Cheveko lost track of time in the cold expanse of dark space and nearly went insane when he found he could no longer reach his family through the stars as he had done so many times before over the years. The routine of being forced to work aboard the small ship and learn was the only thing that kept him going. All the while though he worked on making plans for escape.

It took almost two years for the ship to reach Cancer station where he was informed he was to be sold to the highest bidder. The crew had gotten lenient with him, feeling that after so long they had already manage to break most of his spirit. They could not have been more wrong. The first chance he got, he bolted and was lost within the maze of hanger bays and markets. It was the last he ever saw of them, for which he was grateful.

Without food, currency, or shelter, Cheveko quickly found himself in trouble. Constantly bombarded by the thoughts and emotions of others paired with the inability to still connect with his family at home was driving him over the edge. His wits were about him but barely. He was hungry and exhausted when he stumbled upon a group of individuals selling the virtues of Aedolis. A paradise without hunger or sickness where all were welcome sounded too good to be true, but the young Whetu found himself drawn to them anyway. Perhaps it was the hunger or perhaps it was the coy, knowing smile the woman handing out pamphlets, he could not say for certain but he was boarded and headed for this new strange country before he had even realized what he was getting himself into.

He was accepted, chipped, screened, and recruited all in the space of a short period of time once his feet hit the dirt. It was a whirlwind for him that left him little time to think of home. His belly was kept full and his mind and body busy with studying and training. His telepathy was able to help some with his learning of the language and studies but training was where he truly excelled. He would suffer no one to best him and reveled in the challenge of butting heads with others. It was just as much fun as when he was at home with his friends and uncles when they rallied against the Wenapo.

Cheveko was already a warrior when he came to the ATC but in no time at all they built him into a modern warrior. The militaristic training suited and aligned easily with his own home training. It helped that there were people who taught him to strengthen his telepathic and empathic control to entirely new levels that his people had never known before.

Today he is Candidate in his final stage, simply awaiting a dragon to choose him as he trains and works with other Pilots. Thoughts of family and home are still with him but quieter and less frequent. Cheveko retains much of his culture and beliefs but they are kept private and to himself. He loves Aedolis and the rush of emotions he experiences when surrounded by its people. While he does have hopes of returning one day to see his family and embrace them once more, he is content to learn all he can here and enjoy it. After all, the stars put him for a reason and they are never wrong.
