You want us to what, Sir?
« on: May 28, 2011, 08:39:29 pm »
[ooc: Ze link to the OOC thread for this event!]

Well, this was...strange. Finaa had been put in charge of getting the Spin the Bottle ready for the candidates. It was a little...surreal. But she had her orders and she was making it happen, though, really, it hadn't been that hard. Take over the rec room and get it set up. Most kids had learned to not get into a pissing contest with the Stage 4 shapeshifter who was good friends with Pilots.

Once she had gotten the space clear, Finaa had gone to work getting the room set up to hold them all. There were actually too many of them to be in one group, so she was just in charge of this one group. The groups seemed rather random, though she had Arrow in her group! That was going to be fun! Though...she wasn't really looking forward to seeing anyone kissing her. That part would be less fun.

But over all, Finaa was quite excited. This was going to be great and relaxing and hopefully team building and maybe she could impress some higher ups with making this all work. Never hurt to suck up.

There wasn't anything Oliver hated more than forced social interaction. Well, maybe not more than slippers that were uncomfortable, or clothing that doesn't sit the right way like his candidate uniform on...all the days. Okay so, it wasn't his most hated thing but it was up there. Somewhere.

Oliver attempted to quietly slip into the recreation room to try and avoid anyone spying him. Fat chance at that. He had the unfortunate luck of being one of the first ones there. Meaning, people generally noticed another arrival if there was very little to distract them. For example, other people. All his eyes could catch was the image of Finaa - the group leader? - setting up what was going to be the last place he would ever see. Alive that is. Who knows what a zombie Oliver would see.

"O-oh..." And that was all he said. It wasn't even a word was it? Not a "hi how are you" certainly. He stood awkwardly to the side of the door, in case someone followed him in(no one did, he was paranoid enough to look over his shoulder near constantly. Still, they could be invisible. That thought tended to make him worry more) and ran a hand through his red hair. Hair that had been neat when he left his dorm room as per requested from his mentor, Sabela Llown. At least he could pull off the slightly ruffled look. Sort of.

Anemone had to admit, she hadn't woken up that morning thinking to herself, "I bet I'll play spin the bottle today." Yet here she was, strolling into the rec room, silver sheened eyes taking in the set up before her. The white stick of a lollipop protruded from one side of her mouth. She had a small stash of sweets in her room, and managed to grab a strawberry lollipop before she'd been called to the rec room.

Huh. She was actually moderately early for once, only one other candidate stood just to the side of the door, excluding that Finaa girl who was bustling around up ahead. Ane's mind whirred briefly as she struggled to recall what little she knew about her, she was still trying to get used to everyone, put names to faces, learn who was who and all that. She knew Finaa was stage 4. Ane concluded that she must have been put in charge of setting up the game.

This was good. Not so loud or noisy or crowded, for now.

She glanced over briefly, at the other candidate. She was standing closer to him then she'd thought, and stepped away self consciously. She took the lollipop from her mouth, muttering "Sorry." Anemone folded her arms across her torso, twirling the candy as she studied him out of the corner of her eye. She tried to recall his name, but honestly couldn't.
The slightly scruffy looking guy seemed.... stressed. Or maybe high strung. Worried about something. His red hair mussed in a way she recognized, the way when you run a hand through it in a frazzled manner, and it stuck up in odd directions. She did the same thing when stressed, and felt a brief moment of sympathy towards him. She herself was strung out lately, struggling mightily with the demanding (to her anyways) basic academics, the early hours, the hazing. Evident in the dark circles that smudged under her eyes and the bruises on her skin.

Anemone cleared her throat quietly, nodding at him before managing a, "Hello." She wished she was able to wear a hat, like she'd always done before. To cover her long pointed ears, just one of the features that marked her out as different. But it wasn't part of the uniform, the hat that is. Blue tinged fingers fluttered briefly by one of her ears, then tucked back a lock of hair so the movement didn't seem so unnatural. She popped the lolli back into her mouth to take her thoughts away from being self conscious, and forced her lips into a larger smile. She attempted at small talk around the lollipop,"So... it's a bit of an odd thing to do, isn't it? Arrange a mandatory spin-the-bottle game?"

"Oh...um...Oliver, right?" Finaa glanced down at her pad, trying to recall the names of the people in her group. She had always been good with names and faces, and his was very distinctive. Smiling, she did her best to be casual and relaxed.

Another girl arrived, one with some blue tint to her. Blue...blue...It was an A name...Ann...Anna.. .Anemone! That was it!

"Anemone! Hello! Yeah, this is a little odd. I can't say I've ever I've done this before. But it will be fun!"

Anemone looked up at her name, just a bit startled. But she smiled, and raised her hand in a wave. Ane had to take the lollipop from her mouth to speak again, and raised her voice just a bit so it would carry to her, "Hello... Finaa, right?"

Anemone laughed a bit, the noise having an undercurrent of nervousness. She could say she'd done this before, actually. At a friends thirteenth birthday, and they'd all been high as kites at the time. But Anemone was never one to just be intimate with people, despite Aedolians usual norms when it comes to physical intimacy with others, condoning pleasure and all that. Honestly, they would consider her quite the prude. So this whole... mandatory spin-the-bottle thing set her a bit on edge. Still. Might as well have fun, since it was required. An indent appeared between her brows, "Yeah... Tons of fun."

"Oh, it will be. If you too would stop being so dreary in the corner. Come on. Sit." Finaa gestured to the circle of chairs and couches she had made in the middle, "Get a good seat while you can!"

She had learned a while ago that some people just needed to have good cheer forced upon them.

He wasn't entirely sure what the point of all this was. He knew what the game was after asking Rachel and the idea was disgusting. Letting total strangers touch their dirty lips to his? Nika was not looking forward to this at all.

But orders were orders and he had to go. Looking over at Rachel, Nika transformed his expression into a bright smile, "Please let me know if I do something wrong."

Then he hit the button to open the door and stepped inside.

Generally speaking, Sagittarius wasn't much for making out with random strangers, but fortunately, that was not the same as an innocent game of Spin the Bottle. Other candidates weren't strangers — apparently they were a team, though Sag hadn't seen much teamwork unless it came to ganging up on another candidate — and Spin the Bottle implied kissing, not making out. Sag certainly didn't mind Aedolians' pleasure-high culture. She was no prude and she definitely wasn't shy, either. Spin the Bottle seemed like the perfect game for her; meeting people, creating blissfully awkward situations, and kissing. Her three favorite things.

She entered the designated chamber, on time for the first time in her life. She'd followed after another candidate to find the room: the only reason she wasn't late due to wandering around, lost beyond all help. A small group was already there. Sagittarius flashed a grin for her own benefit — she wasn't shy in any way, but she hated initial introductions — and approached Finaa and Ane. "Hey there."

More people were arriving! Yay! Finaa clapped her hands and beamed at the new arrival. She hadn't met her yet either, but she had a cute name, easy to remember, "You are Lif, right? I'm Finaa! I'm trying to get people seated, but that doesn't seem to be working. So I guess there is mingling until it's time to start."

Anemone was a bit flustered at Finaa's words, and so she stepped away from being so close to the door. Finaa was right. Ane was required to be here. She should at least TRY to enjoy herself. And, she really should get a good seat while she could.

Her eyes, flashing colorless for a moment, scanned the available seating, and then she mentally selected a nice, sky blue, plush looking loveseat. Anemone strolled over to it, and leaned her hip against it. As long as she hovered here, she could just slide over the couch back and get a seat before it was taken, if it looked like someone was coming near it.

Anemone tilted her head back a bit to get a good view of the new arrivals. A young man entered with a girl, and then another girl followed in behind them. The guy seemed... a bit strained. Seems about half the people to arrive so far just didn't want to be here, myself included, she thought to herself. It made Anemone smile.

The girl who had trailed in behind the pair walked closer. Anemone raised her hand once more in greeting. Voice polite, she responded with,"Hello."

Sagittarius winced at Finaa's use of her given name. "I go by my surname," she said. "Sagittarius. It's nice to meet you, Finaa." She extended a hand for the female to shake it, deciding that she might as well go all-out on the introduction — she hated hand-shakes — considering she might be meeting the girl's lips later.

She then glanced at the other girl, Ane, who had moved slightly away from Finaa since Sag's decision to strike up conversation with the pair. Sag had never been good with dividing her attention. Multitasking? Hell no. Sag gestured to a seat and said to no one in particular, though looking in Finaa's direction,  "I might as well sit down then." And she did so. Gracelessly.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Sagittarius then. Damn, just when I was feeling all proud of myself for remembering everyone's names so far." Finaa took Sag's hand, her figure jiggling delightfully as she shook it, "And yeah, help yourself. Though I've called dibs on the black loveseat. All mine bitches."

He wasn't being dreary in the corner, Oliver thought. Just awkwardly displaced. Very awkwardly displaced. He wished he had his glasses with him instead of the contacts he choose to wear. It wasn't at the heed of his mentor's words, at least, not spoken ones. It might have been sooner or later and he'd rather avoid being told he was drab and dorky. Well, he still was either way. But without them, he could not nervously fidget whilst cleaning them.

At least he wasn't the only one who seemed this whole ordeal was just ridiculous. He could see it on the faces of his fellow candidates. Of all the things they could have done to help promote teamwork this would have been the very last on his list. For now, he was managing well enough. Though it was only a matter of time before he was reduced to having a panic attack and staying huddled in a corner far far away from everyone else. Because, he was Oliver. One didn't get out of the properly scheduled anxiety when they had that name tacked on.

At the group leader's behest he sidled on over to one of the couches set up, one that was not currently occupied by anyone and he hoped that he would give off enough 'loser' vibes that no one would want to sit by him. And maybe if he didn't mingle in it would deter people even more. He hoped he hoped he hoped.

"There, see!" Finaa moved behind Oliver on the couch and patted his head. He seemed...ready to fall apart at any moment and he was broadcasting all over the place, and it was taking a lot of effort to block those emotions, "It'll be fine. And you really shouldn't have so many negative thoughts were anyone can hear them. People wont like you much with an attitude like that."

Anemone leaned against the loveseat back, propping herself on her elbows. She observed everyone, listening in on Finaa and the girl who had walked in's conversation. Lif? No. Sagittarius, apparently. Anemone's greeting seemed to have been overlooked, the girl, Sagittarius' attention stolen away. Ah well, that was fine, she didn't blame her. The girl plopped none too gracefully onto a couch not too far away from herself, and Ane moved on to the others in the room.

Her eyes slid over, gaze following the strung out boy, Oliver. She watched him choose a place to seat, observing his unsure, hesitant movements as he tried to sidle up to it with a slight smile on her lips. He was a little odd. Not that she could say anything. It would be the pot calling the kettle black. Finaa had moved up behind him now, and Ane couldn't help but pick up the words she said to him, what with her sensitive hearing. Huh. Was he broadcasting all over the place? She honestly hadn't been able to tell. She was a Gracie herself, her abilities not honed enough to really pick up easily on others thoughts.

With nothing better to do, Anemone slid her thin body backwards over the couch back and sprawled across the loveseat. She stretched like a cat, scratching the pointed tip of her left ear, and yawned. Mmm, she made a noise of appreciation. The cushions really were nice and soft.

Nika stared around the room. He was supposed to be getting better with people and Rachel wasn't coming in, so he figured he should find a seat. And he wanted one he could sit next to Rachel at, otherwise he would have a hard time with all the social ques he needed to pick up.

He chose an armchair next to the blue loveseat. That meant he could sit alone and have Rachel on one side. That seemed good. Leaning over, Nika smiled at the odd girl stretched on the loveseat, "Do you mind if I save the other half of this for..." he paused, unsure what to call Rachel. We're they friends? He wasn't sure, so stuck with something safe, "Rachel?"

Anemone yawned again, jaw cracking. She covered her mouth, to be polite. Eyes squeezed shut during the yawn, her ears picked up on the rustle of movement close to her. Once her lids slid open once more, her pale gaze flicked up to the young man. Slightly feminine looking features, and... Anemone noted with a flare of curiosity, yet made sure to casually not stare, an eyepatch. He was missing an eye. The remaining one was an attention catching pale blue. Huh.

Anemone laced her fingers and perched her pointed chin upon them, looking at him as he spoke. Oh. He wanted to reserve the other half of the loveseat she occupied for another person, a girl she assumed from the name. After a moments consideration, Ane decided there was no reason to be rude, and she nodded. "Yeah, sure. No problem." She sat up, scooting over to the other half of the loveseat, so the half closest to the guy would be open for the girl he was obviously waiting for.

June was actually pretty excited about this stupid game.  It gave him a break in his routine of pissing off the Pilots and spending a week in the box or doing manual labor.

"Hey bitches.  Am I late?"  He didn't really know any of these guys.  Never wanted to.  Why get attached to a bunch of people he'd be leaving soon?  And he would be leaving.  They could torment him all they wanted, it just made him more determined to get to TRiM.

Nika stared at her a moment, unsure what else to do, "Thank you."

That seemed to be the end of the social interaction, though he felt he should have done a little better with it. But that was when the loud kid entered and Nika turned his one-eyed gaze to June.

He kept forgetting to smile, feeling more comfortable in his own face and so June got Nika's full, intense stare. He seemed like a very strange one.

"Bitches? What?" Atara followed in after some boy she didn't know. Just some loser Gracie trying to prove himself. Boooring. But there was something not boring! Brushing past June, Atara moved behind Sag and leaned over, pressing her breasts against the top of Sag's head, "Well hello Puppy. Have you been a good girl?"

Rachel had pause by the door to encourage Arrow, who had been hedging by the door, to come inside. Finally the black-haired girl slipped inside, gave a near-panicked, wide-eyed look around the room, and then finally found Finaa in the small crowd and made a bee-line straight for her, where she was currently reassuring another candidate.

While Arrow wasn't too familiar with many of the candidates here, she had spent the day resigning herself to the fact that she was about to get very, very familiar with a lot of them.

Ears burning at the thought, half inexplicably excited by this game and half terrified out of her mind, she came up beside Finaa and slipped an arm through hers to get her attention. "Hey," she said with a small, nervous smile, all fidgety for what lay ahead.

It was still so weird getting used to the idea that Fin was really Finaa--well, not really. Finaa was Finaa, they were the same person no matter the body. That wasn't the weird part! It was just a different experience, was all. Fin looked and felt different in this body, and that's the part that took some adjusting. It wasn't a bad thing; she'd just never interacted with a shape-shifter!

[hr:1bpfnovo][/hr:1bpfnovo]

Slipping inside after the girl, Rachel spotted Nika on the couch and breezed over, plopping down onto the seat between Nika and the other girl. "Hey, guys!" she greeted the both of them, though she leaned over to give Nika a quick kiss on the cheek. "Whassap? Have we started yet? Did I miss any hot lip-locking?"

Romeo had readied himself for this event, if it could be called that. Being ordered to play spin the bottle sort of took the fun out of it... but he wasn't going to complain. After all, how often did they receive mandatory orders to do something that included fun. Parties didn't count, since they were still considered optional. So might as well go along with it.

Sometimes it was nice not having a roommate, though other times, it really made him wonder just why he'd been placed in a room by himself. It sort of made making friends in this place harder then it should have been, since he didn't have that initial person that could help him make contact with the other candidates. Romeo was having to do that on his own, and it seemed that he was not having much luck making friends at all. Which was weird since he'd had no trouble making them on the outside... maybe the friends he'd made before he became a candidate were only his friends because of his social status. His ears laid back as he thought about it. If that were the case, then he was better off being here.

As he neared the rec room, he took a deep breath and pushed those thoughts aside. This was suppose to be a fun time, even if it was going to be awkward for many... but really, a situation was only awkward if you let it be.

With a smile, the kitty boy stepped through the doors and into the room. "Hey there!"
