In the wake of Cancer's unexpected move from the inner solar system, the pirate problem has gotten worse instead of better. Failure on behalf of Aedolis and Edanith to respond quickly to the threat has emboldened the pirates, and they now prey recklessly close to the planets themselves. They have also expanded their hunting grounds to include the outer solar system and the open space beyond, taking advantage of vessels that thought to avoid the turmoil by taking longer routes. Libra's space remains the only truly secure place in the system, but the station's sphere of power only extends so far...

But the slow response from the two superpowers has inspired the pirates with confidence—perhaps overconfidence, as both Edanith and Aedolis are beginning to turn their attention away from each other and toward the problems in space.
