Name: Magic/psychic and Energy personal and military barrier technology (AKA MP-Barrier and E-Barrier technology).

Appearance: extremely varying due to customization . On the personal level, it would appear on a person's clothing or body as a small, circular device roughly the width of a baseball , and anywhere from two to four inches thick. Note that these are rough estimates of the personal level technology. is currently in production, but only to military personnel of various nations.
On the military level, when pertaining to vehicles or ships, the technology has an even wider range of appearances, but the function remains the same, but on a larger more complete scale.
What does it do?: barrier technology is perhaps the next step in protective measures for personal and military defense. the first incarnation of the technology was for military personnel, and was based entirely upon natural energies of the user: it would enable the user to condense or channel their natural energies (be it magic or psychic) into the barrier unit, which would in turn generate a small-to-average sized protective barrier, similar to that of a shield used by ancient warriors.
The energy version was developed for regular, non-magic and non-psychic individuals using special energy batteries. During the tests, it was discovered that although the energy using barrier was more stable and reliable, the psychic/magic version tended to have overall greater output depending on the user.
The larger version of the barrier technology for vehicles and ships is much more powerful, and designed to give overall protection as opposed to the limited coverage protection. The Vehicle/Ship version is also believed to be exclusively energy based, but that may not entirely be true...
Ultimately, the difference for personal barriers could be described as reliability versus variability and customization. for more casual users, the E-barrier is generally better. for more advanced users who have greater psychic and/or magic abilities, the MP-barrier is the way to go.
Availability: Currently, the technology has only recently been released onto the market, so while it is available, it can be difficult to get a hold of. especially the version for ships and vehicles, which is in high demand. Numerous models exist as well, and forgeries are running rampant. expect to see mostly military organizations possessing the technology.
