Riot and Aryte in Codeland(Taly!! ^_^))

There was lots of clicking and clacking coming from one of the ships that was sitting in the docking station. There was someone hunched over the controls humming and bouncing their head. Wings were coming up, about the only thing visible from outside the ship. They wiggled every now and then, almost broadcasting the girl's mood. She was working very intently, her fingers moving quickly over the controls.

Aryte's eyes were behind her goggles, several different scripts running across them as she worked on the controls. She was tapped in, just practicing seeing what the insides of Mitty looked like, the code that made her go that the Techies had built into her. It was beautiful of course, military grade. Aryte was scrolling through. She seemed almost like she was at some sort of religious ceremony as she did so, deep happy noises in her chest.

Techno music was coming in through a pair of purple earbuds tucked into her ears as she did so. She was starting to wonder if maybe she could build a robot based on some of this that might chase Will around the house when she was busy. He knew his fair share of code, but a robot, designed by her based loosely around military code? Well he might not have much of a chance, well maybe. He was good at Viruses, she was more of the fixer with like a minor in destruction...well most of the time.

She leaned back into her seat stretching and cracking her back and neck. She took a moment to change the band she was listening to before leaning back down the code running over her goggles and she delved deeper in. She'd have to talk to some of the Techies to get some clarification on some parts. She made notes of them as she went through. Was that to shoot, or to defend? Little differences like that.

The Techies were generally pretty helpful with her, if not annoyed at the same time. She didn't mind so much as long as one of them gave her the time of day. They probably thought she should just fly the ship and enjoy it. Oh she did, but code...it was like her blood sometimes, or like she was a Code Vampire, she needed it to live.

She started humming a little louder as she got used to the code. She didn't have to spend as much time trying to translate. She couldn't wait to get back to the apartment and do some coding of her own. She was working on a friend's computer that had gotten all infected, too much porn Ary figured. Damn men and their porn, just didn't know how to protect themselves. Then their computer gets an STD.

Someone was happy.

Riot hated that he knew that, considering he was alone in the hallway, but it was hitting him over and over again, like when you get a song stuck in your head and even when you tell yourself to stop singing it, it just comes back without you knowing.

That's what this was like.  He could just about resist it when he was conscious of it, but as soon as his attention wandered to something else it would come right back.  Someone was pummeling his head with their joy.

Annoyed and smacking his gum, Riot followed the feeling to a door that lead into a docking bay.  At first the place looked deserted save for the fighters at rest, but then some movement caught his eye.

Wings?

The closer he drew, the more certain he became that this person was the source of the happiness assailing him.  Sometimes he wondered if he were...broadcasting anything himself.  He guessed not, as there would have been rumors about it by now.

He stopped behind her and peered over her shoulder, curious what she could be so tickled about with her head buried in machinery.  He couldn't see a thing from this angle, so he shifted to her side and tried to make sense of what she was doing.  Was she a grease monkey or what?  He blew a bubble with his gum, an orb of pink that grew and grew as he watched.

Aryte was so deep into the meditation of coding that she didn't notice her companion at first her eyes were focused on the code running over her goggles.  She was tapping her finger on the console in front of her as she watched it role by. She sighed a happy content sigh and took a breath in.

Was that bubblegum?

She sniffed again and turned her head around to see if she could spot the smell. Her brow crinkled, bubble gummwas such a weird smell it had it's own smell not really a particular scent to it that made sense. She turned and saw a man standing there. She jumped at the big bubble he was blowing and lifted her goggles to look at him.

"Hey! I didn't hear you come up." She brushed her hands off like they were somehow dirty from touching code and held out her hand.

"I'm Aryte, I don't think we've met."

[Tally]

His bubbled popped, and he smacked the gum back into his mouth and stuffed it into one cheek so he could talk around it.

"Hey darlin'.  Yeah I'm not surprised.  You were all, like, intense into that and stuff.  You were all like happy over it."  Riot craned his head to look down at the console.  He had no idea what he was looking at.  "Must be slammin', whatever it is.  Oh, yah, I'm Riot."

He shook her hand then started smacking his gum again.  He squinted at the console as though squinting at it would somehow make him see what was so great about it.  "Soooo whatcha doin?  Like, what's got you so happy?  Are you workin'?"

Aryte watched him maneuver his gum around in his mouth as he spoke to her. She made a very pleased face when he said slammin'. He had a chill way of speaking. She thought it was pretty neat. She was staring at him for a minute when he asked her a question. She'd never heard anyone talk like him before and despite herself she was a little fascinated. He was so mellow.

She made a surprised face and pointed over her shoulder when he asked if she was working.

"Oh no! I fly this thing actually." She smiled looking at Mitty. She loved that little ship. It was like a family member...that you could ride in?

"I...uh...well, I'm sort of a tech lover, I like the language of codes." She stretched out the "O" in codes as she spoke.

"I was just checking out the workings. I find it relaxing and it always teaches me some bits I don't know yet." She felt slightly self conscious, she had been getting better about talking to people but she still felt a little bit awkward.

"What are you up to Riot?"

[Tally]

Riot propped his elbow up on the ships frame and rested his chin on his fist.  "Get outta here! I like totally woulda figured I knew like every pilot up in this place.  I fly too.  This ain't my hangar though.  I'm in one of the fighter squadrons."

He grinned round his gum.  "Ohhh, haha.  You're a techhead.  Yeeeeah, I know like nothin' about all that stuff.  It's like..." He sighed.  "It's all like too much math and numbers and whatever."

He'd had like totally zero not-at-all-there aptitude for coding and shit.  It both bored and confused him and that right there? That was a recipe for failing grades in programing classes was what that was.  They had eliminated that as a career field real early.

"Ah I ain't doin mucha nothin'.  Kinda bored actually.  I thought like...I dunno that I'd enjoy a day off but like I'm just drifting without with havin' nothing to do.  Oh, sorry darlin!"  He patted around in his pockets until he located his pack of raspberry gum.  "Want some?"
