Prize
« on: September 07, 2007, 03:48:34 am »
A crowd had gathered in the Red District of Space Station Cancer, all admiring Captain Oswald Kert’s latest prize. Most of them were pirates who were either jealous or in awe of his achievement.

The prize in question glanced around the crowd nervously, catching snippets of conversations coming from the crowd.

“They say he broke into Thanatos Inc.’s Main lab and rescued her.

“How’d he manage that without getting killed?

The prize sighed and lowered her pale blue eyes to the floor causing some of her waist length silver hair to obscure her face. Ever since the Captain had rescued her he had treated her as an object, just another piece of treasure. At first she was grateful to him for rescuing her but she soon realised that she had just been placed into another form of captivity.

“What’s her name? one of the people from the crowd called.

The girl flinched at that, she hated talking especially in public but she knew the captain would make her answer.

And he did when he nudged her slightly, “Go on.

After a pause she said “Vyomini… in a small voice, keeping her head down still.

“She’s so cute, one of the female pirates from the crowd commented making Vyomini feel more uncomfortable.

Pirates seemed to be all the same; to them she was just a piece of treasure or a pet of some kind. True she had enough power to wipe out all the pirates gathered there, but she wasn’t like that.

Jealous or in awe? Try overwhelmingly curious.

"That's something you don't see everyday..." She mused quietly to her companions, one blue eyebrow quirking at the same time as a smirk spread across her lips. She was dressed in a form-fitting black outfit, all her blue hair held back in a thick ponytail at the back of her head. Arms crossed, she blended into the crowd of spectators rather easily, but it was mostly due to her somewhat short stature, and the fact she was easily eclipsed by the rather large wolf-man standing next to her, his impressive height and brilliant white fur making him stick out like the proverbial sore thumb.
The wolf man grunted, but his black lupin lips were pulled into a frown, an obvious sign of his displeasure. He did not like witnessing people being treated like objects.
Been there, done that.
As if his beastly appearance did not already attest to his background as a test subject. His head was that of a wolf, and his entire body was covered in snowy white fur. Though mostly human in shape, the fur and fact he was well over 6' tall and quite muscular made him appear so much more animalistic. His feet were also wolf-like in shape, though his hands did not suffer the same fate, though his nails were black and more wolf-like. A fairly long white tail sat still behind him, sticking out of a special loop in his pants, the only other piece of clothing being a simple vest thrown on over his top half.

"How in the hell did that idiot manage to break into TRIM anyway??" To the blue-haired girl's left was another woman of slightly taller stature, and she looked flat-out annoyed. She wore an outfit matching that of her blue-haired counterpart, her short, messy hair a dark and unassuming brown.
"I mean honestly, it's TRIM, he shouldn't still be breathing if he broke in."
She obviously didn't hold the captain in high regard, though it was unlikely she knew much about him. Then again, she had spent most of her life on the space station Cancer, so it was possible...

The blue haired lady just chuckled, apparently amused by the entire situation. She then calmly began to shove her way forward, though people moved out of the way rather easily, since the intimidating wolf man was right on her heels.
"Hey you! Mr captain!" She called out, waving her arm at him to catch his attention in the throng of people.
"How 'bout a drink sir? I'm curious about this latest endeavor of yours!"
Her female companion stepped up next to her and grinned, adding in.
"Yeah, tell us about your adventure! C'mon, please?"
It was a pretty basic strategy at best; two rather attractive women asking to be told the heroic tale of Captain Oswald Kert. It of course helped considerably that Akso had a fairly generous bust, they were both wearing skin-tight outfits, and that both had a winning smile.
And let's face it: most of the time the simplest strategy is the best.

(Blargh! *collapses* I hate opening posts! Lol, anyway, sorry for the craptacularness, I've gotta get a feel for these three XD And there's a reason I didn't describe much about them XP)

Vyomini sighed at the two women who had approached the captain in irritation. However then she saw a wolf-like man behind them. Despite his height she hadn’t spotted him in the crowd before. Some parts of him seemed human though and she was pretty sure she knew where he had gotten his beastly appearance from, TRIM.

The girl’s attire might have been seen as strange by some but on the space station Cancer you got all sorts of weird people. It couldn’t fail to be noticed that the two women were attractive though and the captain certainly seemed to be interested.

“Of course! How can I say no to two lovely ladies?

Vyomini glanced across at the captain, who was oblivious to her displeasure and also seeming to have not noticed the wolf man accompanying the two women. Just like he hadn’t noticed just how many of his crew had been killed rescuing her in the first place. Vyomini wondered whether the captain would mention that in his tale when he relayed it to the two women, she doubted it. Being the typical egotist he would make himself the hero as much as possible and though it had been him who had killed what was left of the guards with her and had been the one who carried her off the ship it had been a team effort all his crew. Some of the team had perished for the trouble. And for what? A scrawny fourteen year old who their captain wouldn’t even view as a person.

Bingo! This was way too easy...
The blue-haired girl smiled and clapped her hands together enthusiastically.
"Aw, you're too kind! Thank you so much!"
It wasn't hard to maintain a happy, cute look to her face, since she really was very excited. One step closer to another TRIM experiment...
The darker hair girl bobbed her head to the side.
"There's a nice pub just down that way. Why don't we head over?"
Another winning smile, her hands on her hips. She really didn't have any idea what her companion's true plan was, but she knew enough about her to make a good guess. And in any case, she could do nothing but play along with it anyway. As zany as her captain was, she trusted her (for the most part).

During all of this, the large wolf man had angled himself away from the two women, putting people between them so as not to seem associated with them. It was lucky the Captain had not noticed his earlier tagging along. With the two women in disguise, and him not, it would be rather damaging to the plan (not that he knew what it was either) for him to be with them. He was far too easily identified, and thus too easy to track down.
Instead, he pretended to be vaguely interested in the girl. Eyes the color of the summer sky watched her, but with none of the underlying hints of desire or jealousy. If anything, his gaze was gentle and sympathetic. He knew what she had been through...

Vyomini followed the captain in silence as he accompanied the two women to the pub. All the way he spoke non-stop to the two women not really giving them anytime to say anything. Vyomini had learned how to ignore him a while ago though by sinking into her own thoughts. At that her moment her train of thoughts was focused on the strange wolf like man, who she had noticed following them, she doubted the captain had though. The wolf man had been with those two women though and he was obviously a former TRIM victim, it was possible that the two women had less than innocent intentions in mind. If that was the case, the captain certainly deserved it.

When they entered the pub, the first thing Vyomini noticed was the noise, she hated crowds and noise. TRIM was pretty quiet, most of the time you were stuck in your own thoughts with no-one to talk too, you got used to the silence. Being a psychic however had allowed her to speak to the other mages in Wing Alpha, it had taken the researchers a while to notice she was both a mage and a psychic. She couldn’t communicate with them very often though, in case she was noticed. That was another reason she hated noise, it interfered with her powers and if it was too loud it made her dizzy. Of course the captain never noticed this.
