I only bothered to upload this 'cause I'm trying to figure out the right settings to use on my scanner. It's complicated. There's no 'make the picture look non-awful' button. P: But since it's uploaded I might as well post it here. I went over Temple's pencil sketch in pen:

I did this on SotE with a pic and it was fun so here I go again.
Nathan's portrait, from beginning to end as I complete it. Ahaha...it's always dangerous to do this kind of thing because there's a chance the picture will fall on its face and I won't be able to finish. >_>
I'm doing things way differently this time, too. Been browsing around conceptart and the Imaginefx forums and decided to try a different process. It'll be all on one layer, rendering the entire picture as a whole instead of breaking up the figure and the background.
Step One: This will be a painting, as I'm still not back into drawing yet. Instead of starting with a sketch as I have in the past, I went with what basically amounts to a color study. Get a blank canvas, scribble on it with various brushes, and you get something like this:

Step Two: Still working only with color shapes and values. Blocking in the figure now.

Step Five: Not liking the background, so I tightened up the frame and will rework it. P: Ignore the hair, I'm in the middle of rendering it. Punching up the reflected light to get some cool colors in there.

... no, seriously, I like the Pilots' uniform. The color accents are pretty cool. It's also, perhaps surprisingly, something like what I'd imagined. I like the shading and fabric folds, too.

Lizzy's older sister, Kayce had an extra credit painting she did for one of her classes. They had to use a live model for it and no one else could get people to sit long enough for them. Kayce's painting is of Lizzy sitting cross legged and her hands are curled around empty space very obviously in the shape of a PS controller xD

For a second, on the WIP ones, I didn't notice that was Gabby's tongue and was like, "Why is Gabriel wearing whore lipstick?" Then my brain worked and I understood xD
