Title: Adventurous new location, anyone?
Post by: Nascent on September 08, 2013, 08:00:13 pm
So I got to thinking about what might stir up some activity here on RotE... and I have a proposal for a new location board to spice things up:

Quote
Based on the "space hulk" concept (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Space_Hulk) from Warhammer 40k, a massive wrecked spaceship the size of a small moon appears in the main solar system suddenly and without explanation. The salvagers who first report it nickname their find 'the Hoard of Matthias', after the crew member who first spotted it on sensors... but as the planetary governments and prospectors from Thanatos and countless freelancers investigate the monumental wreck further, an entirely different name for it comes into use: the Sepulcher.

The Sepulcher, so named for the hundreds of various alien corpses found in its most accessible outer layers, turned out not to be one ship but many: countless craft rolled and mangled together with clumps of asteroids and space debris, the lines between one piece and another blurred by centuries worth of damage and decay. Even just a cursory exploration of the wreck turned up hundreds of artifacts and valuables... but exploring deeper than the surface quickly proved hazardous. The derelict, honeycombed with sealed vaults and tunnel-like corridors, was not entirely unoccupied. Explorers claimed to encounter feral, predatory alien creatures, ancient robotic guardians, traps, unstable pathways... and even bizarre psychic phenomenon, what some claimed to be the silent ghosts of the Sepulcher's prior occupants.

The Sepulcher draws countless researchers, treasure-seekers, and unsavory characters to it's elusive shores. The powers that be have yet to try and lay claim to it, perhaps balancing the risks against the potential gains, but perhaps that's merely a matter of time. Until then, everyone and their uncle wants a piece of the Sepulcher... and it often takes pieces, or more, of them in return.

PROPOSED SUBSECTIONS:
- Fortune's Reprieve: This oddly named prospecting base is the largest and most secure entrance to the Sepulcher. Located on the wreck's outer layers, the base is more like a makeshift town setup by a handful of private companies to accommodate the flow of treasure seekers. Small ships can dock; large ones have to send shuttles down.
- Matthias' Last Stand: Testament to the dangers of the Sepulcher, this ruined outpost is believed to be where prospector Matthias Jacobs and his shipmates made a desperate stand against the horrors they roused in the depths of the Sepulcher. Still, if one is careful the outpost's ruins can still serve as a secure camp in the depths of the wreck, and is commonly used by those with a scientific interest in the alien derelict.
- The Depths: While the outer areas of the Sepulcher hold risk and reward aplenty, it is the deeper recesses that are by far the most untouched... and hold the greatest perils and mysteries.

Aha! I LOVE SPACE HULK! I have the collectors edition! Would the aliens take after the Genestealers in role? Or more broadly, Tyranids? Cause I'm a huge fan of 40K, and I would LOVE to have a Space Hulk style map to play with!

Yes, yes, yes, yes! This would be an awesome location to RP in!

Just came across this and LOVE the idea, although it sadly seems to have not gone anywhere and probably won't. Still, it would be an interesting and pretty cool place to RP on here.

Revive this possibly?

Despite the post is very old, would perhaps be mean to start this idea without the one who wrote it but something like this would indeed be nice :)

I might join in, though I may have to either make a new character or finish Trotzige Schwert in order to have one interested enough to take the risks.

Once everyone who wants to join in figures out what characters they want to use, we can discuss plot ideas. My own character for this will be Briia Noven, perhaps sent on some expedition for her people's military. Will figure more out later.

I will make the twins tomorrow or the day after that. I will most likely give the powers to the girl but she will be (if I can put her down properly) be a bit creepy.
Both children will be genetically engineered/ modified as well. Well children they will be 16 at least

regarding the twins by the way. Anyone could've 'hired' them.

Or more like, hired the company to send the two over. If nobody does this the twins are there for the companies interest ^^

The second reason sounds good to me, Silmeria. I would personally go with that, but that's up to you of course. ;)

I'll join in with Briia soon.

Nicholas Hastings is complete. (http://remnants.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=5773.new#new)

I'm probably going to NPC the other fireteam members and Tokamakian researchers. Is Some Things the thread for this? If so, I'm probably going to have the Project Super Revenant team and escort appear on The Sepulcher.

The reason for the Tokamakian interest is finding a way to convert The Sepulcher into a Revenant (basically, a ship version of a Tokamakian lich.) in order to bolster their fleet.

Also edited Natasha to put in a couple things I forgot (I'm resurrecting an old idea of mine with these characters.).

This (http://remnants.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=5770.0) here is the thread, yes. I have already posted with Briia so you can join in whenever you feel is most appropriate for your two characters. They're still at the entrance to the place, so not much has happened yet. :)

Are we going to continue with this? I hope so.
