Physical appearance
Height: 191 centimeters
Figure: Athletic and well-muscled and, yet quite light and attractive. He displays obvious strength through his physique, which is the tall, strong body of a warrior, but he is not overly bulky, having a somewhat wiry build. However, his figure is rather sharp and masculine, far from appearing androgynous like many other Adachi men.
Hair: A long (almost to the small of his back when untied) mess of silky, but unevenly cut and spiky black, unruly and always everywhere around his face. He wears it tied up in a high ponytail at all times to avoid that, though even then, it is long enough to fall between and onto his shoulders. What is unusual about it is that about 1/3 of each hair at the tip is dyed bright scarlet. It's sometimes likened to a pineapple, what he absolutely hates and always objects against.

Facial features: His features are sort of sharp, sporting a straight, thin nose, narrow lips, and somewhat pointed chin. He has tall cheekbones and his face is somewhat long, while his eyes are a narrow almond shape, slightly tilted. He has a kind of wild, rough charm about himself, and while not exactly manly, he doesn't appear androgynous, either. His face gives out a youthful, but hard appearance, unlike many Adachi men that appear much softer, bordering with looking effeminate.
Distinguishing marks: His arms from the elbows up to the shoulders, together with his shoulder-blades and collarbones are tattooed with a series of black lines. The only place where those lines are broken is on the right side of his chest, where a thin scar runs from between his shoulder and neck diagonally almost to the position of his heart.
Clothing: Misao usually wears the typical black robes the clan is known for, however, he dislikes the fact that their sleeves are waving around him while he's fighting, and for that he ties bandages over his forearms and pins the ends of the sleeves up like that. Over that, he usually wears a pair of rugged black wraps. To stop his hair from flying into his face when fighting, he usually wears a bandanna, too - a thicker black one when training or fighting, and a white one on casual occasions, which isn't that thick. He's said to have a thing for quirky night clothes, and who has seen him shortly after waking up can confirm that he sleeps in a flowered kimono.

Personality
Fierce and dynamic, Misao's personality fluctuates between smug and arrogant when in a good mood, to quiet and depressed after a defeat. He acts quickly, often before he thinks, what has a tendency to get him into problems, since he rushes into a fight without preparing, and gets his ass owned.
However, he shows extreme determination to his goals. He is extremely serious when facing a threat. He will kill, fight, bleed, and die for what he wants and what he believes in. He can be extremely dangerous for those standing in his way due to his stand in his way. Due to his fierceness, he is a dangerous fighter.
Though, he has a honor code comparably strong to the rest of his family. He refuses to let innocent people get hurt or endangered, never attacks a woman first, and is very protective about other members of his family, going so far as defending his captain from an enemy even though himself being on the brink of death. He is extremely persistent in his goals, too, as he was gifted with a strong will, and holds his 'code of honor' even if it would mean his death.
That doesn't mean he's nice, or will handle anyone in 'silken gloves'. He's easily provoked into violence and has a knack for sarcasm, which, combined with his highly confident self, usually makes him simply punch and kick those who annoy him. He has no problem with violence and gore, and likes to fight, enjoying adrenaline. He's pretty rude, swears, and doesn't handle anyone like a porcelain doll. He's the kind of person that wakes you up with a kick and calls you a dumbass for complaining about it.

Skills and combat abilities
Physical: He bears a good amount of strength, speed, and endurance, even beyond what is common for the Adachi clan. His strength is enough to break things such as wood with a single punch, and his physical performance by itself allows him to leap up many times his height.
He is very fast, capable of keeping up with Hisaki and Hatsune, though not really matching them, and can utilize that as a deadly advantage to himself, even making up for his lacking defense. He can move faster than the eye can pick up.
His physical endurance is not the maximum - he cannot surpass Sen Ryuu, or other extremely resilient fighters - but it's a sure strength in battle, and he is capable of fighting even after suffering heavy wounds, and he heals quite quickly, too.
He is an adept fighter in martial arts, utilizing a quick, but quite raw style in his battles, and capable of defeating several armed opponents without a blade.
What is his true strength is swordfighting. He is proficient in pretty much every sword-fighting style and method the Adachis have ever come to know, that is over a hundred techniques. He aimed all of his training into those fighting methods, and he is unmatched with a blade in his hands.
Magic: He has a high level of spiritual pressure, about 7 times above the average, but his knowledge of spells is lacking, and he requires an incantation even for mid-level spells. He has a tendency to have them explode at his face, unfortunately.
Weapon of choice: Katana

Misao's soul-cutting blade is a regular katana with a red hilt and a rectangular dark grey, nearly black, rugged handguard, worn from use, and it is called The Iron Beast's Fangs. When fully released, it hardens his own spiritual energy to transform it into blades, and either extend itself, form additional blades, or change its shape by his will into any offensive form. The only downside to it is that it actually uses up his spiritual energy.

Backstory
Childhood: Soon after his birth, Misao was orphaned as his parents died in a fight with a spirit. It was his father's sister, Sen Ryuu, who took care of the boy - not really willing, considering she had no interest in dragging a three-years-old around, but she did it, and raised Misao, training him from the very moments the boy could stand on his legs and hold things with his hands. It quickly became apparent that his skills with a blade are beyond ordinary - he was as proficient as many warriors in their 20's when he was only eight, or so it was said. Sen Ryuu pushed him into insane lengths to hone this skill, and he always cursed her for that, but grew to be thankful for it.
Teenage years: Misao was nicknamed 'The Blade' when he was only 17, and already reached the usual skill of proven warriors - that is, about 100 years old members of the clan, past their training - in swordfighting. That was mainly due to being under Sen Ryuu's supervision, and thus being forced to train all the time.
Adulthood: He lived up to the expectations of those around him in terms of his training, mastering style after style in a staggering speed. Only based on this, he was chosen to become a member of the Elite Force - much to Sen Ryuu's satisfaction. And though he was quite lax in his personal life, he was very serious about his duty to protect the Captain. He was so passionate about his new position that he followed Hisaki around almost perpetually.
That paid out, since he was there when Hisaki was unexpectedly attacked during a visit to the Cancer space station - by someone who was apparently an assassin with a purpose unknown except for the fact that he was supposed to incapacitate the head of the Adachi clan. Instead of Hisaki it was, however, Misao who received a knife across his chest and an electric shock. Even though he didn't put up much of a battle (the assassin was almost immediately disposed off by Touki), his efforts were highly appreciated by the rest of the Elite Force and even Hisaki himself, since he 'protected the Captain's honor'.
Since then, he has served as one of the more combat-based members of the Elite Force, and is currently one of the most skilled swordfighters aboard, often receiving the duty to train younger warriors.
