Physical Description He is... was, the face of a planet. Forests and gardens blossomed from his roots, and oceans of sap drained from his branches. Now, however, he is not even the smallest fraction of his former self. Standing around 5 feet and 10 inches tall, once might just look upon him as a large, walking plant. He has no 'hair'; a healthy foliage of vines and leaves cover his head and are tied back out of the way of his slightly brown face and emerald green eyes. Nyralis's skin appears to take on the color of healthy, growing wood, but holds a texture similar to a plant's membrane, as well as that of a human being's. The better part of his upper body is clothless to express this, though the occasional flower bud or leafy vine plays a part in obscuring some of his torso. His waist, and all below it, succumb to a more plant-like form, taking on the appearance of 'roots', which wriggle about beneath him as he 'walks'. While capable of forming legs of these roots by twisting them as necessary, Nyralis has never done so. A sash of leaves covers what would be his 'groin' and left leg on an aveage man, but it's uncertain as to whether this is clothing, or still more of his body.

Personality A curious being who finds all life either endearing, amusing, or both. Nyralis is a kind-hearted, fun-spirited creature, often participating in jovial or pointless tasks as he attempts to discern the meanings behind them. Much of the lives of ephemeral folk interests him; He has seen many a species, people and civilization in his life, and each was different from the last. Because of which, he constantly seeks out and attempts to learn more about the world(s) around him, as well as the life forms within it. Due to his typical method of learning from others (by touching them), Nyralis came often be a very proximal figure, not particularly aware of things such as personal space or bubbles. Despite his typically 'naive' persona, Nyralis is a wise and understanding figure, often capable of giving advice or guiding others to solutions, or making decisions which seem too morally ambiguous or vague.

Magic/Abilities Though a sapling of his former self, Nyralis is a fully self-sustained, self-aware, and perfectly mobile living ecosystem. He is capable of surviving in the worst conditions, from tundra to parched lands, by adapting his body, the ecosystem itself, to suit the needs of the land. Though he may still die at the hands of a blade, flame, or any other 'weapon' of choice, Nyralis is nearly impervious to weather.

Nyralis himself isn't capable of an aged death, either, it seems; At least, this hasn't yet been proven. Instead, he is ever a part of a constant cycle of rebirth, which covers roughly 1200 years. Every 300 or so years, Nyralis's body enters a different 'season', or phase, of that rebirth; The first season, known as the 'Talfae' season, is a period during which Nyralis is incapable of growing; His body is young, and thus not yet ready to take root within terra firma or any other location. The second is known as the 'Xyrfae' season, during which he begins to grow in earnest. The third, known as the 'Faer Golliande' season, is a time during which Nyralis's body 'blossoms', resulting in flowers and other life forms of various species reaching the peak of their growth, while the fourth, known as 'Xyr Golliande', marks the 'end' of Nyralis's life; He often spends these 300 years in solitude, with his current body 'dying', and a seed growing within that body to be prepared for the Talfae season. As of now, he is currently in the Xyrfae season.

A psionic by nature, Nyralis communicates through touch; His mind is capable of linking with others for brief periods of time, during which he can access and trade knowledge or thoughts with another party, at both party's disclosures. He has never demonstrated the ability to force this upon others, or access thoughts or memories that the other party mentally deemed 'open'.

Nyralis's body is the culmination of a planet's life, and though he is currently only a small portion of the body he once had, he is constantly 'growing'. Plant and fungal life grow from his body over time, unnaturally quickly while idle and slightly slower while he is in motion. Amusingly, if he remains still for too long while exposed to open terrain, he may 'take root' in the earth, which often tends to be a bit of a bother. Fortunately, trimming the growth doesn't hurt Nyralis in particular.

History

Nyralis's origins aren't entirely known. It is believed that he was spawned from the pocket space of a sentient dimension; Others believe that he is the result of years of psionic or magic research. Whatever the case, Nyralis himself is not consciously aware of the point in time that he began to 'exist'. He simply, did. What he does recall is the very first moments of his consciousness being that of a space-drifting seed, miniscule in size, being eventually pulled down upon a large asteroid, and being imbedded in the hard rock. Lost within an asteroid, which was lost within an asteroid belt, which orbited a very large sun, Nyralis did what came natural to him; He grew. He grew, and he grew, sprouting from his seedling state, and taking root in the asteroid, for years and years to come. Eventually, his roots fought their way through the entirety of the terra, and Nyralis unknowingly claimed the 'planet' as his own.

Nyralia, he dubbed this planet, as if he were born to do so. It was, more or less, his own ever-growing form. He shaped it into his own image; A large forest, filled with plant and fungal life. Yet further time passed, and life aside from himself did not blossom. How could it, without gases to sustain it? Thus, Nyralis granted the planet an atmosphere, as gases seeped from his foliage and covered the planet. Yet life still did not blossom, for there was nothing for life to sustain itself upon. Thus, Nyralis granted the planet 'water', in the form of purified sap. Oceans eventually formed from his lifeblood, and the world was capable of sustaining life.

Yet even then, life still could not blossom, for there was nothing to spark ephemeral life in and of itself. Thus, Nyralis granted the planet bacteria and fungai, which seeped from his branches and sprouted from his roots, respectively. Then, and only then, did life begin to blossom. Bacteria grew within the oceans of Nyralia, and from bacteria grew mutli-cellular organisms. From multicellular organisms came the first animals, which resided in the oceans. He dubbed these young, curious creatures 'Talfae', or 'The First Ones'.

The Talfae, however, would evolve as well, as the oceans began to fill with different species of them. One species in particular would eventually seek to move from the seas to land itself; And as millenia passed, they would succeed in not only doing so, but adapting from the world they knew to live more efficiently on the world they now inhabited. Nyralis referred to these beings as 'Talfae Xyr Nyralia', or 'The First Ones to Walk Nyralia'. They became the predecessors for all land-based life on Nyralia, as well as showing the most intellegence of all of Nyralis's creations. For that, of course, he adored them most; They were the most curious creatures of all.

Nyralis, a sentient being, watched over these creatures closely as years passed. They never needed nor wanted for anything; Gifted with Nyralis's own psionic insight to one another, and more importantly, to himself. He provided them with food and warmth, and watched as their societies grew. They revered the plant-like being as a god, though he simply saw interest in their actions, not in their reverence. Eventually, their bodies adapted completely to the world outside of the oceans, and they developed bodies further suited to cultivate the land, though their method was unique. Most every 'technology' they created was 'grown' from Nyralia's gardens and trees; They sought means to traverse the oceans, so the grew trees which they cultivated into boats. They sought homes and shelters for the colder periods, so they grew plants and catered them passively to form study walls and roofs. They desired lands which encouraged entire groups of Nyralians form together, so they quite literally grew, by hand, cities from Nyralia's flora.

Life prospered on Nyralia for many an age to come. However, like all things, that life would come to an abrupt end, in time. Happy as the Nyralians were with their lives, they were ill-prepared for war, or conflict of any sort. They were a peaceful people, and thus when invasions upon their world eventually came, they were ill-prepared for the consequences. A united militia of different species would attack their planet in hopes of conquering it, and adding it to their collection. Nyralia, weaponless and defenceless, was helpless to stop the burning of homes and assault of innocents that ravaged the land shortly after the coming of the invaders. There was no real hope of escaping their wrath; At least, not for them.

Some of the brightest Nyralian minds sought to, at the very least, save Nyralis from being completely burned away, that he might someday find another planet to cultivate and bring life to. They took a small sampling of Nyralis, willingly given; A seed, much like the one that first encountered the asteroid, and made plans to send it into space, a frontier that they had not yet truly come to understand. With a single, small, psionically-powered test ship, they loaded the sampling of Nyralis onto the vessel, and fired it off into space; The ship itself was quite successful in that it managed to safely escape the planet, leaving the fate of the remaining Nyralians in question.

The ship, for some time, was powered by the seed of Nyralis and a few Nyralians who volunteered to take the trip with him; However, the Nyralians were a short-lived race. Far too short-lived to make the trip, unfortunately, and eventually, they died as well, leaving Nyralis to power the ship alone. Years and years would pass, the ship placed on auto-pilot, until Nyralis would once again find life; This time, in a galaxy far away from the planet he once claimed.
