"Yeah yeah. Real nice." Bart shook his head, half carrying Gabe out the door. He was gonna have to get a taxi, having taken public transportation on the way here. Hadn't really planned on bringing home a messed up Pilot.

It was a pretty easy trip, mostly just dealing with an out of it, clingy Gabe. Once in the Citadel, Bart just decided to fuck it and picked Gabriel up, tossing him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, "Just sit tight and stop touchin' everything."

Gabriel laughed when Bart picked him up, though the world spun out on him and didn't stop for a while and he felt jittery and twitchy and just wanted to move, even if it was just walking. Oh well, though! It was fun, and he found himself playing with the back of Bart's shirt, finding the texture fascinating.

"Oh man, thanks, Bart. You're the best, man," he said, watching the tile go by as they walked. "Like...the best. I love you. So much. You're just...you're just awesome."

"Yup. That's true." Bart knew the kid was just fucked up. But man, he was gonna be embarrassed when Bart told him about this in the morning. Entering the elevator, Bart kept Gabe over his shoulder, not wanting to lose him yet.

"How about when we get back to my place, we get ya some water?"

"Yeah, that sounds great," Gabriel said, petting Bart's back. "Thanks, man. You're so sweet. Hey, d'ya think we can visit Alaric?"

"No no. Alaric's busy with his own friends. How about we hang out, just you and me?" Bart really hoped Alaric was going to be alright. He didn't know him that well, but he seemed like a nice guy and was a friend of Gabe's.

The doors slid open and Bart headed down the hallway toward his room.

Gabriel laughed and would have hugged Bart if the angle had permitted. Instead, he just kept petting Bart's shirt. "Man, your back is so smooth, how do you do that? It's like so soft, it's awesome. Oh hey! I know this place!" Patting Bart on the back, he tried to twist around to look.

"It's your place! Sweeeeet. We don't hang out enough, man. We should change that. Why don't we, anyway?"

"Because I'm a borin' old man." Entering his room, Bart set Gabe down and herded him toward the kitchen, "How about we get ya that glass of water?"

"Naaaw, you're not boring. You're super," Gabriel said as he entered the kitchen, pausing to lean against the counter. He went a little quiet then, staring off into space--or more accurately, at the lights, which were doing the most bizarre things.

Bart just grunted, enjoying the moment of quiet as he poured a large glass of water and pressed it into Gabe's hand, "Alright buddy. Drink some of that, okay?"

Gabriel accepted the glass and gulped it down, having not realized how thirsty it was until he was drinking. He finished it off and then just held it, the glass smooth and cool against his palms. He felt twitchy and his teeth itched in the weirdest way. He sucked on them to try to get them to stop.

"Alaric's alright, right?" he said suddenly.

Bart didn't want to give him any more water, so he just let him hold the glass. The question had Bart reaching over to pat his shoulder, "Yeah. Don't worry, he'll be fine. He's got lotta people watchin' out for him."

Gabriel took a deep breath, nodding, and right then he couldn't feel that concerned. Of course he'd be okay. It was all okay. It was also hard to focus right now; his mind felt clear, clearer than ever, but that just made it all the more difficult. It was too clear and he had too many thoughts all wanting to occupy the same blissful space.

After the initial oh my god what's happening, and after the explanations that he'd been drugged, he was rather okay with it, now that he knew what was happening to him and that he wasn't dying. More okay with it than he should be and he knew it, but right then? It was all good.

"Yeah, you're right. You always are," Gabriel said with a smile, setting the glass aside so he could hug Bart again. "Thanks, man!"

"Yeeeeah. Let's....uh, let's go sit down. We can watch a movie, okay?" Give Gabe something to focus on. Or so he hoped. Bart helped steer the kid into the other room and flipped on the TV. He doubted Gabe would care what was on and he left it on the channel playing some movie.

And so the night passed. Gabriel didn't really pay much attention to the TV; he ended up talking a lot about different things, like his family, life before Pilot-hood (barring some things he wasn't high enough to talk about), and a surprisingly wide assortment of different topics sprinkled with worry about Alaric and gushing about how awesome Bart was and asking about he and Roman and his childhood and anything else that popped into his head.

And all of this while keeping himself practically glued to the guy, cuddled up to him and petting him.

He started to come down from his high several hours later, and fell asleep around four in the morning. But coming down or not, he was still too out of it to care that he was in Bart's bed nor that Bart was sharing it with him. It was a large bed, but he still managed to occupy a lot of space.

He slept like the dead. It was light out when he started to come to again, curled up against something warm and solid and fleshy and kind of hairy--that was snoring. There was a split-second, gut-clenching, muscle-freezing jolt of holyfuckwhoisthatwhereamI?! and then he recognized him and remembered.

He was spooning Bart.

That jerked him into full wakefulness and he rolled over and sat up, face heating up. He was still fully clothed in his club wear and, as his groggy mind started to clear, he could remember everything. Everything. His mind jerked back and forth between mortification and fear and violation, mortified that Bart had witnessed that and he couldn't tell if Bart even had clothes on right now and what the fuck had he been on--and afraid because holyshitAlaric! Violation because...he'd been drugged. He'd been fucking drugged.

Panic took hold and he reached over, shaking Bart's shoulder, hard. "Hey, wake up. Wake up!"

It was not always a good idea to wake up a rather paranoid Pilot that way. Bart's eyes flew open and he had the gun he kept in his bedside table out and pointed at Gabe before he was fully aware of what was going on. Blinking, he lowered the weapon and sat up, the blankets falling off to reveal that Bart wasn't wearing a shirt, "What the hell? What's wrong?"

Gabriel jerked back and held up his hands, staring at the gun warily even after Bart lowered it, heart in his throat. Shit! Not the reaction he'd been expecting!

"Whoa! Sorry! Sorry! Just kidding! You can go back to sleep, it's all good."

Bart flicked the safety back on and put the gun back, wiping his face, still feeling a little blurry, "What's up? You okay? Relax, I ain't gonna shoot ya."

Gabriel relaxed as soon as the gun was away, letting out a breath. That was one way to wake up, that was for sure. Now he was wide awake.

He scrubbed a hand through his hair, which was going every which way, and rubbed sleep from his eyes. "Hoookay. Sorry. I just--what the hell happened and where's Alaric and where's your shirt?" he blurted, all in one breath.

"Welp, ya got drugged. You and yer friend. He's okay, at the hospital. Nur said they moved him over to the Infirmary last night, once they had him stabilized. My shirts in the dirty clothes pile." Bart pointed and he swung his legs out of bed, giving a long, deep stretch and a yawn.

Groping, he grabbed his pack of cigarettes and lit up, taking a long drag, "You doin' okay?"

Another sigh of relief. Alaric was okay--and close by now. That was the one bit of good news, but the rest...

Was he alright? Not really. He'd seen Alaric almost die and they'd both been roofied--and that scared him, to think that had been done without his knowing, that someone had tried to impact his judgment and make him act against his will, and that he didn't even know who. Sure, Alaric was apparently okay (physically--but he knew better than to assume he was okay) and nothing had happened; he could remember everything with startling clarity and Bart was Bart, but he hadn't been in the right frame of mind at all.

And after the endorphin rush, he was now starting to feel the crash.

But instead of all that, he focused on Bart, attention jerked back to him and his lack of clothes as he rose out of bed. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine, but you should put some clothes on, for gods' sakes! I meant why isn't the shirt on and the cigarette off!"
