Physical Description
Face doodle
While not quite as alien as it gets, V’kai doesn’t resemble a human too much. Sure, he stands upright and all, but it’s quite clear that he’s definitely not human. Soft white feathers cover his entire body. These feathers have small striations of color such as greens, blues, and reds. V’kai has a lean appearance, though also a somewhat lanky look, with long arms and legs that only add to this appearance. While physically strong, it could be hard to notice this with all the feathers covering him. He has thicker feathering around his neck, which is slightly elongated. V’kai has a long, scaly yellow tail which splits into four forks near the end. He often uses it to type with.

His legs are like a bird’s, having feet like a cassowary’s. The feathers end at his ankles, and he has scales the rest of the way. V’kai’s arms have four clawed fingers. Luckily enough, he has thumbs, and, like his legs, they are scaled, with the feathers fading at the elbow. If slurping someone on the face with his tongue isn’t a good enough defense against annoyance, the claws definitely are.

Having a large, alien head doesn’t exactly do well for not attracting attention, especially since V’kai has six round, completely black eyes. He has a very long, black, pointed tongue, and he has a habit of trying to lick people on their eyelids to surprise them if he finds them annoying.

Personality
If anything, V’kai is that geeky guy who would gladly spend most of his time playing video games in a dark basement while eating Cheetos and potato chips. Yes, he loves video games, and is somewhat of a lazy sort, actually. Even though he will work on any job he’s given, he’s not exactly enthusiastic about anything that doesn’t involve him working on computers and making machines and computer systems and whatnot. So, he’ll be much lazier on any other job. He’s not half-bad at making mechas and AIs for military use, though, so it would probably be better to put him to work at doing that.

Unfortunately, he has a really bad habit of being utterly incoherent, trying hard to think of something that makes sense while saying it at the same time. He’ll stutter, pause for somewhat long periods of time (by conversational standards) and speak in wildly varying talking speeds. V’kai has a hard time getting his thoughts across in speech. Needless to say, he does a much better job typing or writing (but who does that anymore?) what he wants to say.

Luckily enough, he’s more a carefree sort who doesn’t want to take everything too seriously unless needed. Sure, he takes his job seriously and is quite enthusiastic about it, but off hours, he’d rather joke and lounge around. He’s good-natured and means well (kinda), even though, as a Pilot, he believes in controlling Aedolis, if only for its own good. It’s been drilled into V’kai’s head. The Aedolians need heroes and they need the right people to guide them, and those “people” just so happen to be dragons. Pilots come second. ‘Course, he won’t say something like that to most others. He’d rather spend time hanging out, playing games, watching movies, chatting, all that.

Having been bullied quite a bit throughout his life, he has developed a surprisingly calm personality and can appear quite cold and apathetic when someone decides to go the bullying route on him. He will try to appear as intimidating as possible, but he rarely lashes out, preferring the “ignore and walk away” route. V’kai has developed a lot of patience as a result. Though, sometimes, licking bullies on the face is pretty funny.

Magic/Abilities
Teletechnopathy. He’s somewhat average in this skill, not able to communicate with machines and AIs all the time, and can only do so for limited periods of time each time. He’s also a pyrokinetic and cryokinetic, both of which he has above average skills in, much to his annoyance. He’d rather be more skilled in technopathy.

Relationships
Bonded with dragon Zalerox, and they normally get along just fine.

History
V’kai was born and raised in Haviah for his entire life, part of the middle class with the rest of his family, which comprised of two sisters and their parents. For a while, V’kai lived with his family, until his older sister was found to be a psychic and then drafted into the Pilot program. Of course, not all people make it through, and V’kai’s sister just so happened to be sent off to TRIM, never to be seen by her family again.

Of course, having a family of people who could potentially be psychics put them on the watch list. It was only a little over a year later that V’kai, seventeen years at the time, was discovered to be a psychic, and was taken in as a Pilot Candidate. At the time, he had a genuine fear of being sent to TRIM, and it fueled his desire to endure the candidacy and press forward. He knew he needed an iron will to persevere, as well as a strong desire to become a Pilot, though part of that desire was out of fear of becoming one of TRIM’s test subjects.

He was lucky enough to make it through. After being presented to the dragon Zalerox, V’kai was bonded. While it was a harrowing process, he was relieved to make it through. He now lives a fairly comfortable life working on building mechas for military use, and also dabbles in creating AIs.
